It continues as you learn to forge working alliances with their planetary rulers – Venus, Mercury, and Saturn. Finally, the rubber meets the road in the three Earth houses: the second, the sixth, and the tenth.Together, these nine powerful words in astrology’s magical vocabulary are the key to Making It Real. With all nine of them on your side, you can – quite literally – make your dreams come true. In these pages, you will learn how to forge a deal with each one of these powerful allies, both as they operate in your natal chart and as they move through it via transits and progressions. The Book of Earth promises to help you build a gateway that links sky to earth, imagination to manifestation, and dreams to actual biography.

Contrary to what it may seem, this book is about dreams and how to turn them into reality. How the three Earth signs interweave and interact so that you get to choose your dream, learn how to manage it and then work to make it come true. It also talks about the occasional more depressing reality, but hey: it's the Earth Element, the one that deals the most with reality and the one that rewards us fairly for all that we do well. Life is hard; but by relating well to the Earth Element, it is possible to endure it and move on.

Snapped it up and read it in a day! That's how much you're going to love the information you glean from a Steven Forrest book. As an earth sign myself I was interested to see what his take was and boy it didn't fail to uphold his powerful messaging from his other books. I jumped over reading the Book of Fire but will now correct that mistake and go back to see what I can learn.

I would lean on giving the book a 4 and a half!

Steven Forrest is an experienced astrologer who offers an in-depth look into the philosophy of the Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn as well as their ruling planets, Venus, Mercury, and Saturn. He offers a lot of information, and it is communicated in a way that isn't overly dense. You will learn about the archetypes of these signs and planets, as well as each planetary house associated with the signs. One of my favorite aspects of the book revolves around how each sign communicated with the three planets natally and in transits.

Although the book felt a bit long, I appreciate all that is offered within it. Steven's personal anecdotes about how different planetary events related to him was a very nice touch. The book isn't purely informational, he imprints his personality and pieces of his story into his work, as all astrologers do in a sense. In addition to the planets and signs, he also talks about key events such as Saturn returns and Mercury retrogrades. Overall, the book is fantastic for learning more about the elements of earth in astrology and gaining unique perspectives that you wouldn't typically find in modern pop astrology.

Steven Forrest has thoughtfully written this series with novices and intermediate students of astrology in mind. That means that for a more advanced reader, it may drag a little in the "cookbook" parts - where he talks about this planet placed in that sign, and so forth. It's not that there's anything wrong with his information: it's more a question of pacing. If you're reading for the information, it's no problem. If you're reading for entertainment, you might prefer a "chattier" author.

Love Steven Forrest. The Book of Earth was not a disappointment. In fact I learnt a great deal. I don't have any planets in Taurus personally, but have always identified with the Tauren energy and now I can understand why. I won't spoil the book for you, but I will let you make your own judgement. I can't wait for the Book of Air.

Learning evolutionary astrology through the lens of the four elements is my favourite approach so far! I’m super grateful of having come across Forrest‘s four part series. . . And I am already devouring part three: Air – the art of paying attention.

Knocked down because, while I understand the spirit of it, I think his discussion on the idea of spirit and flesh in various religious doctrine was under-researched and over-simplified for a predominantly Western audience. I also find the author a little wordy, which I think can take away from the essence of what he's conveying.

Good book overall, definitely recommend for anyone looking into evolutionary astrology.
