Former child star Marlow Jeffers is sick of being treated like a meal ticket by his parents while they continuously ignore his twin brother because they don't think sweet Bentley is worth their time. Burnt out and needing a change, Marlow buys a food truck, grabs his brother and flees to Purdy, Nebraska, where he meets Arlington "Arry" Martin. The man is gorgeous and has a fashion sense like he doesn't realize what decade it is, but he treats Marlow's brother well, and even when Marlow almost messes everything up, he is still happy to call him mate.
Precious Boy: Chosen Book 8
An accident stole Bentley Jeffers arm when he was just a child. He learned to function just fine without it, and was even proud of all he could accomplish even while being "disabled" at one point, but selfish parents and cruel people had made him fell ashamed over the years, and now he hides what's left of his arm so he doesn't "gross anyone out." When he's kidnapped by men who mistake him for his brother, he's then rescued by a gorgeous man who treats him like he's the most precious being in the world. But that can't last forever, right? Or can Kinsey Walt remind him what it's like to be proud of all he can do?
Little Sh*t: Chosen Book 9
When the snarky, street savvy Carter Benson is rescued by the big… and absolutely adorable Harley Daniels, he knows there is something special about the big, overly blunt man who feels the need to apologize for his accidental, brutal honesty. But Carter has done things in his past he is pretty sure an FBI agent… even one who turns into a giant bear from time to time, wouldn't be okay with. But he can't deny his need to protect the big guy, even if he's probably twenty times stronger than Carter, and with that protectiveness, trust soon follows. Carter might be protecting his big bear from the hurt brought on by the people he loves, but Harley is helping Carter fight the demons that are always chasing him.
The review you’re about to read is based on my experience while listening to the narrated version of the Chosen Bundle 7-9. This means I cannot give honest feedback about the composition of the writing. I can, however, give genuine feedback about the books in this collection, the narration, and my general opinion of the content in this bundle. That being said, let’s jump right in shall we?
I always start off my reviews about audiobooks with my thoughts on the narrator and the narrative provided by the reader. This book bundle was read for us by none other than the talent Kenneth Obi. He’s been one of my favorite narrators from the very start of my journey into M/M audiobooks. Ken has a wonderful talent for breathing life into the characters and world those characters exist in. This book was no different from any of Ken’s other productions. He did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life and making them stand out as individuals. I had a wonderful time listening to this collection of books, and I can honestly say that another narrator probably wouldn’t have done this book justice.
Because this book is actually a collection of three books, I’m going to give a short review for each one individually without giving away too much. Hopefully, you find them helpful.
BLONDIE’S 1998 WITH A GOAT J.D. Light does a fantastic job of creating characters that a person can easily fall in love with. They all have unique personalities that really draw a person in. Unfortunately, in book seven of the Chosen series, I found it hard to fall in love with the two main characters, Arry and Marlow. Don’t get me wrong! This wasn’t a terrible story. As a matter of fact, there are quite a few things about this book that I loved, such as Arry making Marlow’s brother Bentley feel comfortable in his presence. That was particularly sweet because Bentley usually feels uncomfortable around strangers due to his missing limb. I also really loved Marlow meeting Arry’s mother for the first time and him wanting to give her grandchildren to love. Despite the positive things about the characters that I loved, I have to admit that they were otherwise easily forgettable.
It bums me out to admit that this particular book from the series just didn’t hold my interest as much as the previous books. I have a feeling it was due to the characters, rather than the story itself. There was additional building to the story arc involving the antagonists of the series which was great. It’s nice seeing that we are steadily moving on when it comes to that aspect of the series. I love a good series that consistently progresses in that overall plot and that it doesn’t just stagnate. But, aside from that, I can’t remember much about this particular book, and the things that most stood out for me were interactions with secondary characters like Bennett, Thompsyn, Ridley, and Arry’s mother.
PRECIOUS BOY Unlike the first book of this bundle, I thoroughly enjoyed Precious Boy. There was so much about this particular story that really tugged at my heart. I’ll start off by saying that Bentley and Kinsley are so sweet together. Bentley has so many insecurities due to his missing limb and Kinsley is determined to help Bentley break free of those insecurities. Bentley worried that he was unfit to be a mate because he’s flawed physically. He’s proven wrong, however, when he discovers that Kinsey accepts him just the way he is despite his missing limb. When he discovers that Kinsey is just as flawed as him but perfect in Bentley’s eyes, he realizes that perhaps he needs to start accepting himself as well. I liked seeing how much Bentley began to blossom as a person thanks to Kinsey’s love. The boy really started to grow into himself, gaining confidence that he’d been missing for years. It was a sweet, loving, sappy, and fluffy story which is what you expect from one of J.D. Light’s Books.
LITTLE SH*T Oh gosh, I really loved the story between Carter and Harley! So, this one starts off a little differently. We don’t know much about Harley except what we saw in Precious Boy. He’s an FBI agent that tends to speak before thinking which means he’s not allowed to talk around victims. Carter, on the other hand, is a new character that we know nothing about. He doesn’t give two shits about what he says or does. He’s unapologetic about who he is, despite his shady past, and that makes him a little rough around the edges. I really loved that Carter felt the need to protect Harley, the big bear shifter. He doesn’t like that people try to keep Harley quiet or that they criticize him for being who he is. I fell in love with both of them because they each come across as a bit rough, but when they are together they are nothing but love. I could honestly listen to this story over and over again.
Overall this collection of books was fantastic. The first book was a bit eh for me, but it was still enjoyable as part of the series. If you’re a fan of J.D. Light and/or her previous Chosen books, or a fan of Kenneth Obi, I suggest giving this collection a go. It is worth the time spent listening and getting to know more about the intriguing world J.D. has created.

Precious Boy: Chosen Book 8
An accident stole Bentley Jeffers arm when he was just a child. He learned to function just fine without it, and was even proud of all he could accomplish even while being "disabled" at one point, but selfish parents and cruel people had made him feel ashamed over the years, and now he hides what's left of his arm so he doesn't "gross anyone out". Little Sh*t: Chosen Book 9
When the snarky, street savvy Carter Benson is rescued by the big - and absolutely adorable - Harley Daniels, he knows there is something special about the big, overly blunt man who feels the need to apologize for his accidental, brutal honesty. But Carter has done things in his past he is pretty sure an FBI agent - even one who turns into a giant bear from time to time - wouldn't be okay with. But he can't deny his need to protect the big guy, even if he's probably 20 times stronger than Carter, and with that protectiveness, trust soon follows. Carter might be protecting his big bear from the hurt brought on by the people he loves, but Harley is helping Carter fight the demons that are always chasing him.
Blondie's 1998 with a Goat: Chosen Book 7 Arry & Marlow were a cute fated mate pair. I enjoyed this story and liked the banter between the two. I loved the 98 references they were hilarious! I also enjoyed that there was a bit of tension with that wolf shifter it made the story interesting. Not my favourite of the bunch but I absolutely love the twins. I just enjoyed the other two books in this series more than this one. Precious Boy: Chosen Book 8 This story was perfect I feel in love with Bentley instantly in the last book and couldn't wait to listen to his story. Kinsey was absolutely amazing for him, I felt a connection with this pair throughout the book and it kept me drawn into the story. I loved the way he helped Bentley through his insecurities with his missing arm and the way they bonded! 🥰💖🥰 Little Sh*t: Chosen Book 9 I was apprehensive at first about this book and I didn't really get drawn into the story until the second chapter when Carter starts to really talk and open up! Carter is my favourite character out of this entire series from book 1-9. Everything he went through and the way he is with his snarky attitude, I love it! Plus the way he stood up for Harley had me swooning. I thought Kenneth did an amazing job with Carters voice it was perfect!!! Harley was just a big, mushy bear with such a sweet heart and a little bit of word vomit like sweet Davis. For some reason though everyone took it the wrong way when Harley talked compared to Davis. I couldn't really figure out why because I found Harley just as charming.
This series overall was great and I really liked the way the ending was resolved. Kenneth Obi did an amazing job throughout the whole series and I was so impressed that each character really sounded like a different narrator was performing each voice!!
Blondie's 1998 with a Goat: Chosen Book 7 In this book we meet Marlow and Bentley two hot twins that both are chosen. This is Marlow and Ari’s story. These books each feature new couples and their romance is complete but the overall main plot runs through the series. Marlow is quite funny and I loved how he called Ari 1998. Precious Boy: Chosen Book 8 This one is Bentley and Kinsey’s story. Bentley is a real sweetheart and Kinsey is very protective. I thought this story was so sweet and fell in love with Harley. Little Sh*t: Chosen Book 9 But Little Sh*t was the way to end this group of stories. Harley is so sweet and protective but also the best at getting information from the bad guys and when he rescues Carter or should I say tries but is attacked by the street Savvy tough guy is his mate. Convincing the man will be harder than Harley thought since all he has ever known in his life was betrayal.
All three of these books are amazing. As were the first two bundles. If you like shifters, omegas and MMpreg, mates, romance, wit, and an allover fun story you should try these.
I listened to them and love the narration by the amazing Kenneth Obi. He gives each character their own voice which couldn’t be easy with so many in this series, he always shows the story rather than reading and just makes the stories so good. I suggest you get the audios if possible!
The editing is ATROCIOUS. Yes this is coming from a reader who isn’t even going to bother reading over what I write for this review because I don’t f*cking care about the editing if my review, but godd*am the editing of these books is soooo bad. Wring words or using a word when the author literarily means the opposite. For example, “I was endeared to these people” when he meant the people had become endeared to the speaker. It’s ridiculous how bad the editing is. I really like these books, but I have to interpret a lot of what is happening because of the sh*t editing. It’s just so bad. Anyway, I think this author would be a one-click always for me except the editing problem. The books are short, fun, and funny. Nothing complicated and definitely cotton-candy fluff for the brain. There wasn’t a whole lot of thought that went into these books and they don’t take much thought to read. Like a vacation from the mind.
Audio version was done well, I completely lost myself in the book just like I’m meant to.
Blondie’s 1998 - this one you need to read the book before, it was honestly like 90% of the stories plot happen in someone else’s book as a side note and yet it was everything. There was a tiny amount of explaining but mostly it took hours after finishing for me to truly remember the last book which allowed this one to fully make sense. Seriously, why they have there pet names, what the title represented, it all happened in a different book. Precious Boy - this one was better, probably because none of it was set up beforehand. Little Sh*t - really enjoyed this one.
overall, it was something light and easy to just listen to while I did other things. Nothing to deep and through provoking which is what they are meant to be and what they achieve and I enjoy those types of books
The Chosen series really feels like it needs to be read out loud and Kenneth Obi is the ideal choice for narrator. His many voices always bring the characters to life and he hits their personalities full on.
These books are so lively and full of fun. Probably more heat and relationship driven, there is enough of an ongoing plot to draw me in. And although these books really should be read or listened to in order, there is enough information given that by the second of these 3 books, I felt comfortable in their world.
My favourite is definitely #8. Everytime the word "precious" is rumbled by Kenneth Obi, I got shivers up my spine.
I absolutely love thos series and how each story is uniqur but also links to each other book. The characters are funny as hell and though it has a lot of action it make me laugh so much. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series
Overall, the cult and chosen kidnapping story-line is progressing apace. I kind of wanted more interaction with the cult, but it feels like there is more coming.
Plot: Soulmates, Instalove, No/Low Angst, Satisfying quick reads Feels: Book 7 - Giggle, Book 8 - Awww!, Book 9 - ROFL Drama: None Heat: 3.5/5 Characters: All likable Story Pacing: Fast - just right Length: Want more! Ending: Each couple has HEAs, continuing story-line Performance: Enjoyed all the different voices Kenneth Obi gave to each character. Arry's voice was just as imagined. Loved the characterization for Bentley - perfect blend of positivity and innocence and Kinsey - a hot Daddy-type! Wonder how much fun Kenneth had with all the times he said "Little Sh*t". Lol!
