As mentioned in the description, this is a slow build reverse harem paranormal romance. You may not see the harem for several books, but don't fret! It's definitely there!
If slow build isn't your thing, that's completely fine! But if you don't mind waiting a little for it, keep reading!

Love.

This book put a new spin on the usual vampire tropes that I had read in previous novels. Instead of vampires always being created, there were two classes of vampires. The vampires who were born were considered purebloods and were able to have certain jobs that other vampires could not have. They were considered the first-class citizens of vampire society. The vampires who were created from humans were the second-class vampires. They were not as strong as the born vampires and were not allowed to hold certain positions in the society. Then there are the werewolves. The werewolves and vampires are sworn enemies and they have rules about what to do with those enemies.

All of these details make up a very intricate universe with a lot of its own history and stories that could be told. Sure, I loved reading about Lisbeth's story, but this universe is so large that I hope the series delves into it further as the books continue. I want to learn more about how the Lycans and vampires came to hate each other, and I definitely want to see if the turned vampires are going to stay happy as second-class citizens. These could definitely make for interesting story arcs!

Back to the actual story now. I love Lisbeth and Knight's relationship so much! Rarely do I find the "forbidden love" trope to be exciting anymore, but this one was different. I found myself drawn in, rooting for them, and trying to figure out ways that the two could stay together. They simply seemed perfect for each other, and without too much of that "hate to love" annoying dialogue.

This book drew me in and refused to let me go, I loved every minute of reading it. The plot moves smoothly, there aren't any of those horrible POV switches that I can remember, every character was unique, and the world truly took the story of vampires vs. werewolves and made it its own. I have nothing bad to say about this book!

I would recommend this series to lovers of YA fantasy/romance novels or anyone looking for a new series with a vampires vs. werewolves main plot.

I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

What a fantastic debut from author Elizabeth Dunlap!

There is no shortage of books for those of us who simply can't get enough of vampires, werewolves, romance, or all of the above. In fact, there are so many that it's often difficult to choose which series we should pick up next. If you're currently in the market for a new paranormal romance, I highly recommend Knight of the Hunted. Well-written, action-packed, and best of all, very unique, it is my favorite vampire novel since Twilight. And yes, I love Twilight.

As always, the characters are what make the story for me. Ms. Dunlap's characters are genuine and likable and by the time I turned the final page, I felt like Lisbeth and Knight were old friends. That, in my opinion, is a sure sign of a very talented writer. She brings her characters to life.

Fans of Twilight, and the vampire genre in general, pick up a copy of this book. You're going to love it.

I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review.

Elizabeth Dunlap has created a beautiful vampire series! The Born Vampire had me on my toes for the entire series. It was extremely face paced and I was hungry for more the entire time.

Lisbeth is a 400-year-old vampire who pretty much has it all going for her until one day she helps a Lycan child. Fearing for her life she escapes the comfort of her home and is quickly chased by Hunters. On the run, Lisbeth meets Knight, another Lycan who ends up on the run with her. Together they form a team where they come across a vampire-filled town where deadly consequences await.

I enjoyed Lisbeth the most, she was smart, kind, and brave. But it was Knight I fell in love with. He was brilliant and witty and I wish we could all have a Knight of our own.

If you love romance, wit, and vampires/lycans than this book is totally for you. Elizabeth Dunlap brings new life to the supernatural.

At over 400 years old, the striking beauty Lisbeth is quite a rare gem in the vampire world. She has always followed the rules and is the epitome of class and sophistication. Soon the rivalry between Vampires and Lycans, a tale as old as time, will lead her to make a moral decision that will throw her life into turmoil. Now on the run she meets another rarity in the form of Knight. Although he seems to be a Lycan he is something totally different and possibly dangerous and harboring his own secrets. As the sparks fly, Lisbeth and Knight are slowly drawn together by their unique needs for each other. When Lisbeth finds herself bound by another vampire she and Knight must make sacrifices in an attempt to free themselves from impending doom. Will this potential romance be left to play out or will other forces prevent it?

Knight of the Hunted is a novel you can really sink your teeth into. The beginning of so many interesting characters and story lines leave the reader eager for the next book. The slow building of relationships and unexpected twists peak curiosity and force the reader to continue. There are so many possibilities of which way the story can go. Initially moving at a slow pace once the action begins it becomes difficult to pull yourself away. Dunlap's unique twist on the traditional vampire vs. human relationship and added twist of having two types of vampires makes for an interesting read. The two main characters possess very captivating personalities that compliment each other perfectly. Lisbeth is confident, slightly prideful and often blamed for being "stuffy" while Knight seems humble and down to earth although he actually occupies a high status among his kind. It feels like there is a real love connection between them rather than just the intention of a lustful tryst. This book is described as a reverse harem paranormal romance with a note that it is slow building. It is already evident who we think will be the players in this harem but there is a slight undertone that there may be a plot twist. Several potential mates are aspiring for a place in the arms of Lisbeth, but she is a little reluctant. Time and the next novel can only tell who will take that place.
The compelling theme throughout the book is Lisbeth's constant inner turmoil of the fight between doing what is right and doing what is expected. Can she go against ancient rules of her order even if they are morally wrong? Can she really love a Lycan when almost all vampires find them revolting? This book gives all the surprising answers to these questions and leaves the readers with more questions that will surely be answered in the next part of the series

!The synopsis immediately caught my attention and I knew I had to read this story. I loved Knight of the Hunted! It gave a fresh take on vampires and lycans and the relationship between the two. It was a wild adventure that kept me invested the entire length of the novel. This is the first book in the Born Vampire series and I can not wait to continue it and find out what happens next!

Vampires and lycans are enemies and after Lisbeth saves a child, she is hunted by her own kind. Lisbeth is protected by an Alpha, giving her his bracelet in return for saving the life of the lycan cub. Lisbeth runs away, fearing her life, she travels far from home. She gains help from Knight, a lycan with no pack. After traveling together for some time they become friends. Knight protects her as best he can but there are certain forces that even he is powerless against.

Knight of the Hunted is such an enthralling read and it was hard to put the book down. I had to know what was going to happen to Lisbeth! You start to see some sort of relationship aside from friendship develop between Knight and Lisbeth although the romance doesn’t take place until the very end of the book, on a cliffhanger. If you’re a lover of the paranormal, I highly recommend reading Knight of the Hunted. I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next book!

I will start this off by saying I had recently finished binging on The Vampire Diaries. When I had started reading this book, I couldn’t help but compare it with the tv series. It was definitely refreshing to get a different take on the vampire lifestyle.

I enjoyed Lisbeth’s “good girl” heroine-ism. Sometimes, the die-hard rule followers tend to be annoying, but Lisbeth’s view of following the rules is more of a morality standpoint. She recognizes the need for rules to live a healthy lifestyle. She also recognized the need (and potential danger) to break a rule in order to escape the prison she had ended up in under James’ rule.

I also enjoyed the unexpected camaraderie between Lisbeth and Knight. I’m looking forward to their story in the next book!

This book..

I'm not sure why this book was listed as a reverse harem novel. While it had several characters wanting to do the deed with Lisbeth, she was far from interested. I hope to find out who the mysterious scent of lilac is all about, also.

Perhaps the next book in the series will add another person so it would then be a harem?

Regardless, the book was a good read. I almost stopped reading it, not because of anything other than i was on the hunt for a different story plot. I'm glad I finished it. Now,..on to the next book to find out what happened next!

I loved reading this book an would recommend it to anyone.

If you like paranormal romance novels, you will love this book. This book was hard to put down. The writing was excellent and very detailed. I had felt as if I was standing in the corner watching the scene play out. I don't want to give up to much of the plot, but I can't wait for book 2.

3.5 rounded up

I enjoyed the story of this book, with a vampire on the run running into a lone werewolf and then trying to stay out of the grasp of those who seek to capture them. I enjoyed the dynamics between the two of them as their relationship blossomed. The characters and the world were interesting. Overall it's a fluffy read.

However I found myself thinking that a lot of the plot was a little bit convenient. All of a sudden Knight is also on the run. Lisbeth has tons of amazing powers from drinking lots of blood but when she stops drinking blood she recovers from the mania no problem. Why didn't Knight warn her the first time he shifted?

Also there was a distinct lack of emotion and atmosphere in the writing which I think could be attributed to the author's tendency to tell and not show. The pacing of the writing is lightning fast, so it feels a little choppy. I also felt the construction of paragraphs and chapters was a little weird at times. The book didn't really follow a traditional rising action to conflict and resolution format, which is fine, but it made it feel a little episodic. Maybe that's also because of the lack of emotion and tension in the writing.

Either way though the story did interest me enough to move on to the next book in the series, so until the writing really bothers me, I'll continue on!

I was given a free digital copy of this book for an honest review.

Please note I’m very rusty with reviewing books in this format

Characters: Elizabeth, bethazar, knight, and the others. I can’t remember their names, I think that’s more on the story and personal reasons rather then the characters themselves however. If this story has anything going for it it’s the characters. Each character is fun and distinctive and I praise Elizabeth for not falling into the “Dumb heroine YA trope” shes fun, smart, emotional, funny, knight is hot, Balthazar is mysterious and fun. The flaw however is that due to the world building we don’t get what we could from them. I know the characters are fun and have personality but I can’t describe or pin point them it’s a paradox I enjoyed them and they have character yet they are shallow and I don’t remember deep details about them other then Sara the inn keeper she had pink tipped hair was a seer an odd ball cook and the towns local weirdo she was kind caring and funny. But she’s the only one I could pull from my head the details of C

Story: Elizabeth a vampire disobeys the rules of her order to save a Lycan child she then runs into knight whom she believes is lycan and together they end up in a small town oh and hunters are after them. This story is short at 25 chapters more a short story then full novel. While the characters were enjoyable making it a fun read the story itself oh boy. The world building was just not there. Lucians and werewolves hate each other, yet there is a solo no coven vampire in Texas which is mostly run by lycans and there hasn’t been an issue? The first five chapters were setting up about the two breeds of vampires only for that to be dropped for a runaway story only for that to be pushed aside for a small town crazy vampire story only for it to cricket back to her being on the run from hunters again. It’s like the story has three stories in one going and talk about insta love knight hates her, runs off, were told she is in crazy town with him for seven weeks and that now they are fully in love. Though out reading all I could think about was Patrica Briggs world building and how I know how the vampires werewolves and other creatures work in that world here I didn’t if it was longer or something maybe that would have helped it but it felt like it was missing chunks of world building C-

Cover: the biggest part of what I love about this book and the author did it herself! Purple with Elizabeth on the front beautiful and rich looking it looks like a professional cover not just a self published grocery store grab cover A

Rating: YA (there is a adult version but the one I got was YA)

Publisher: unknown/ self published

My rating: 3 of 5, I’m actually still reading it even though I’m posting a review. I had fun with this book as well as difficulties due to the kindle app making everything dibbled spaces for some reason. One I figured that out however I enjoyed this book it might not be up to the standers of world building or character information I’m used to and I know that hurt the review but I’m being honest it’s not bad not at all it’s like a popcorn flick only as a book I loved that Elizabeth was a NY vampire going to Texas as I moved from NY to Texas last year I loved the impala as I love supernatural, this book made me laugh and again I’m almost done reading it ahead of schedule I just had issue with the middle we end up in a town with a crazy vampire detailing the plot for a good chunk of the book and while I enjoyed that chunk it felt like it was a separate story then what I was promised in the summery. However once finished I have fan art, a doll, and to read the ready of the books planned as I did enjoy myself and this shut your brain off read that this gave me

My other issue was with Voracious Readers Only themselves I was hounded for a month with emails asking me if I was done with the book or if I reviews the book and I didn’t appreciate that as a reader I read at my own pace I’ll review it when I’m done or three chapters away from being done but never hound me on it makes me want to read less.

Knight of the Hunted is a YA paranormal romance and is the first in a series.

Lisbeth is a 400-year-old Born vampire and a strong one at that. Created by the coupling of a human mother and an Incubus, she is more powerful than a turned vampire and can take sustenance, not only from blood, but from human food too. Throughout her life she has lived by the rules, knowing that they are there for a reason and there is no need to break them. So why did she feel the need to protect a Lycan pup? That was a big no no. Now she has Hunters on her trail (including her friend Olivier) who mean to bring her in to face the consequences of breaking that rule. As she flees from her pursuers, she meets up with a guy called Knight whose scent she cannot place. Part Lycan, part something else. Plus, he has no pack to run with. Knight vows to protect Lisbeth and as their pursuers get closer, they find themselves in a village of vampires and humans, controlled by another ancient Born vampire James, drunk on the control additional blood feedings give him. James decides to make Lisbeth his own, and she starts to sink deeper and deeper under his influence. She needs to get away from James, but how? She needs to remain safe from the Hunters, but how? She needs to decide what to do about Knight in her life, but how?

So, the story itself. The author has definitely kept it YA so a bit of romance, not any gratuitous violence, and some light-hearted banter and snarky remarks. What I did enjoy about the book, was the idea that one who follows the rules so whole-heartedly would break them to save a child and in doing so learns more about what is out there in life. The lycan/vampire love interest is not a new idea, but the slight change that makes Knight something more than a Lycan makes it interesting. I found there were too many questions left for me at the end of the book. Yes, there is a cliffhanger at the end, but it was the holes in the story that were left open that made it feel not well-rounded. For instance, there is a character called Sara who runs the guest house in the village James controls that has quite a big part in helping Lisbeth out but the reader has no idea who she is, where she comes from, why her son was mentioned, or her purpose. This might be looked at later on in the series but a small explanation now would have piqued the readers’ interest. The same goes for any other explanation about the village or what happens at any other times in it other than when Lisbeth meets James, more info about the Alpha’s protection, and maybe more character backgrounds especially Cameron and Balthazar.

The proofreading of this book did not do the flow of reading any favours. As an editor, my eyes tend to catch needless quirks and mistakes quickly which take the enjoyment out of an easy read. I understand that mistakes can crop up, but when curly apostrophes and straight apostrophes are mixed up in the same sentence, or en dashes are used in place of em dashes, or a word has a hyphen and an en dash in it more than a couple of times it makes me pause too often.

I would have to put this in the average category due to the editing mistakes and the story that left me with more questions than answers. I’m sure many people will enjoy it for its easy to read style, but I needed more substance to feel more for the characters. I would like to find out what happened to Lisbeth at the end though!

Thanks to Voracious Readers Only and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was sooo good! I love vampires and lycans, but clearly these days its harder to find different ideas revolving these. Elizabeth Dunlap, author of this book, nailed making a new idea that was actually interesting!

 photo giphy_1.gif

The story revolves around lisbeth who is an old vampire living her life at a order. Everything is fine and dandy until she spares the life of a lycan child which is a big no no in their rule book. Well this causes her some trouble as in the hunters want to come and probably kill her so she goes on the run. I can't believe in the vampire world they are still this unreasonable =p

Along her way, she meets Knight who helps her escape capture one night when weakened from lack of blood. After some bantering, they decide to travel together until Knight accidentally almost kills her, their a complicated pair.

While attempting to find blood, Lisbeth runs into a town ruled by a Vampire, James. I could not stand James! He was a typical, I'm the strongest vampire so you must obey me at all times >.> I really hope Knight bites his head off in some point in the future, just saying xD

 photo evil-laugh.gif

I loved Lisbeth, she is a strong character from the beginning, but her growth is amazing to watch. She is also so real, I loved all the little jokes and humor along the way especially when her powers grow. It keeps the story interesting.

Knight is my favorite though, he helps Lisbeth so much along the way. Also his love of tacos and food in general hits my food loving soul. I can't wait to see what the duo do next and I hope they find their way to peace in the end.

This book and author deserve your attention! This does happen to be her first published work I believe=p I can't wait for more amazing books down the line from her.

Knight of the Hunted is a stellar book! I really loved the main character, Lisbeth. She is a born vampire and she lives in a pretty cool castle where the most powerful vampires have companions available to drink from. There are vampire/lycan rules that have been established many years before and as long as they are followed, everything goes fine. Until the day that a Lycan kid comes into vampire territory and although the rules say that he is to be killed, Lisbeth spares him. Things spiral out of control from here with Lisbeth fleeing the castle. She has broken a rule and it's a big deal. She is under the Lycan protection because of her good deed and is now on the run. The characters are do unique and remarkable. I really felt sucked into the story and had a blast reading. Thanks to Elizabeth Dunlap, the author, for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a review. This was so kind of her but it did not affect my opinions. They are my own. Fabulous story! If you enjoy paranormal reads, this one is great!

Firstly I got this book free from the author for an unbiased review. Secondly I have to say that I really enjoyed it. It's not like the usual vampire books out there at the minute. The vampires are in two groups, the purebloods are those who are born vampire and the made vampires. Our heroine Lisbeth is a born vampire and has always played by the rules until one day she has to make a choice between her own morality and the vampire law. On the run she meets Knight, a lycan who is shunned by his own people. Together they try to evade the hunters on Lisbeth's trail. The thing I liked most about this book is that the two main characters are strongly written, it's not just a 'fall into bed and live happily ever after' book. Definitely one of the better books in this genre and I'll be reading on to find out what happens to Lisbeth and Knight.

I really enjoyed reading Knight of The Hunted. I have been addicted to Twilight for years, and I’ve been searching for more Vampire fiction. This novel had a conversational tone and writing style. There were several characters, but they were all unique, making it more fun to keep track of them. I loved the introduction of the Succubus and the Incubus, and I hope to see more of them in future works by the author. I’d love to know about Lisbeth’s parents as well! I enjoyed the unraveling of the plot throughout the book, especially when it thickened the last two thirds of the story. I was left wanting for more! Who is truly evil, who can be trusted, and who are Lisbeth’s true allies? The storyline concluded with the reader wanting more, although the ending was satisfying itself.

Elizabeth Dunlap is a new author to me and if the rest of her books are anything like this one then I will be one clicking my fingers off, I absolutely loved this story and I can’t wait to read the rest in this series. Lisbeth is a born vampire she refused to hurt a child now she is on the run, she is being hunted by her own kind and the hunters. Knight is a lycan who has no pack he just wanders from place to place, werewolves and vampires are sworn enemies but Knight will defend Lisbeth against those who want her dead. This is such a fantastic story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Brilliant beginning to a new series
A well written, romance that has enough details, action and plot twists to hook you! Elizabeth Dunlop engaging story telling and writing style allowed me to envision the world she created as if I was there in person.
I found myself cheering for Lisbeth, and hopeful for a romance between her and Knight
Absolutely loved the storyline. Felt like you were on the journey with Lisbeth and Knight.

Lisbeth lives in a vampire society ruled by laws resulting in death if broken. She breaks a law and now is on the run from hunters sent by the council to retrieve her for sentencing. She encounters a lycan, a lone wolf named Knight, and these two mortal enemies team up after Knight inadvertently saves her life. I loved reading this book although I was not happy with the cliffhanger ending. And just when they admitted that they loved each other.

Warning cliff hanger
I loved this story it was a bit slow to start but once I got into I couldn’t put it down .wow I can’t believe how good this was I love PNR romance I would say this story was i par with some of the great PNR authors like J R Wards Black Dagger Brother Hood . If you like strong heroine who battle against the odds and unexpected hero then book is definitely for you my one bug bare is that it ended on cliffhanger and i hate them so now I need to read the next one. I will definitely be on the look out for more Elizabeth Dunlap books.

The main reason I gave this book two stars instead of one is because I enjoyed the original take on vampire and werewolf mythology. I still have a lot of questions about it, but what I read I found very unique and interesting. It didn't feel like reading Twilight fanfiction.
I just wish this book felt like it had more weight to it. The climax fell very flat and you could hardly call the arcs, arcs. I enjoyed the dynamic between Lisbeth and Knight though. And I loved Sara, of course.

I like Elizabeth Dunlap's writing style and how she pakced the story into different shape. It doesn't feel like Twilight. I found it really interesting, especially the myth of Vampire and Lynch. It's fun book to read, such a light story and have a fast pace. Sadly, the story feel flat, even though the plot in itself is fantastic.

Wow what a book. There was mayhem from the beginning. Lisbeth was such a great character and Knight well he was yummy. When your on the run for your lives what else is there to do but fall in love. Through all the chaos and problems it all worked out for now. Cant wait to read the next one.
