( I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review )

Sexy, very hot, steamy and yummy.

I love dragons, they are by far my favourite shifters in the paranormal world. It's hard to find good dragon stories, they are either high fantasy or cheesy as hell. But this, oh, short but oh so sweet!

I must admit I'm not a big hard core romance/adult/smut reader, not saying I don't like it, but I'm just not asdrawn to them like I am to magical creatures. So this mix was perfect for me.

I also have to admit that it has one of my favourite types of smut scenes. I'm not going to say because that will ruin this luscious read for the rest of you. I'll give you a hint, -Backroom- That's it, no more... lol

I want to know more about the dragons that Mrs. Gorri has introduced. I hope she expands more on this world, past and present. In saying that, we are introduced to a new pack member. Fred, or Winifred. She's kick ass, smart and I like the way she thinks. She knows what's what, and she isn't afraid to give you a piece of her mind. I believe we could be friends, if she only existed...lol

Our hot dragon, well, he's every girls wet dream, the worst thing though, I kept picture Damon from the Vampire Diaries. (I bit the bullet and finally started watching it. ... still not sure if I like it, but I like Damon.) His cocky attitude, the way he dressed and the way he was described walking up to the bar.. All. I. Saw. Was. Damon! Though once he opened his mouth and really starting to get under my sink, they are sadly, not at all that alike. But still hot! ;)

I'll stop gushing now.

I highly recommend this short! When the box set is out, Claiming My Valentine get it, and read this story!

Happy Reading

I’m being nice with the 3rd star. It was very descriptive but also very repetitive at times. I noticed myself putting my phone down more each chapter as it kept losing my attention with all the description and repetition but I pushed through and was surprised when I saw “Epilogue” about 70% of the way through. The ending felt abrupt, but I’m not complaining. There are a few typos here and there, but not enough for me to not understand what the author was trying to say.

I thought there would be more of a fight on Winifred’s end (I’m not calling her Fred 🙄 it keep throwing me off) or at least a little resistance, but it doesn’t seem like she makes the best decisions anyways. Why would you open a joint bank account with someone who doesn’t have a job, and then expect them to pay rent with your money?

Poor (Wini)Fred, who is working Valentine's Day at the saloon, would have been alone for Lover's Day anyway thanks to her scum-of-the-earth ex-boyfriend who snuck off after clearing out her bank accounts and stealing the last three months' rent. She's broke, alone, and, thanks to the dirtbag, about to be homeless. Meanwhile, having completed 500 years of servitude, four dragon brothers are finally freed. The Maccon Wolfpack is about discover that dragons are real.

Other than being set within the framework of an existing universe which includes characters whose stories are told elsewhere, this is a standalone Valentine romance to warm your heart.

Yikes. Too much description. Like every stupid thing was described, sometimes twice. The amount of wash rinse repeat was annoying and got old.
I skipped most of it just so I could finish this disaster of what should have been a quick sweet holiday supernatural rom-com.
The amount of time you spent reading and re-reading the characters chaotic and circular thoughts was 98% of this book.

The Dragon's Valentine: A Falk Clan Tale (The Falk Clan Series Book 1)
Aug 25, 2017
by C.D. Gorri

I voluntarily read a copy for review purposes.

First, I have to applaud the beautiful way the book is set up. A fairy tale for adults, the chapters are defined by chapter pages, reminding me of my first hand painted Perrault book. Bravo to the book designer and bravo to the illustrator of the cover

The story itself is sweet, sexy and funny all at the same time as a Dragon shifter searchers for his true love – his Diamond Rose. And she is a Wolf shifter named Fred who was just dumped and stripped of her money and home by a jerk, so she isn't quite in the mood to find her true love as she lugs beers in the local beer owned by the local pack Alpha. Whoo! That's a lot for two sentences but that is how it feels, a swift read that makes you laugh, makes you weep and makes you giddy with the romance.

Callius, the head of the Falk Clan is deliciously described, half rocker, half goth. And his dragon form – wow. Fred is a typical single girl trying to make her way in the world, alone. Her wolf makes the perfect balance to his majesty. The characters are well drawn and every move makes sense – a 500 year old Dragon would not quite understand the behavior, clothing or occupations of a 21st century woman. Ms. Gorri handles it lightly and it is worth the read, even if the heated love scenes weren't well, hot as a Ghost Pepper/

However, there does need to be a serious editing done.

It is simply too good, I read the whole thing in one sitting, just couldn't put it down. And it is a quick read. I loved the story, and characters are, as usual, pretty amazing. C. D. Gorri just knows how to pull readers in, her books are always so good. This is story of a Dragon shifter who is looking for his 'mate' and a 'Castle' and then he finds them both. It's time that he starts his new, free life, but first he needs someone he can share it with. Dragons are not meant to live alone for long, he has already waited for too long because of his circumstances. Now he has his freedom and soon he will have his mate and a home, where they will start their own clan.
Winifred has moved to Maccon city six years ago. She loves it and wants to stay here for good. Although, because of her ex-boyfriend, it now seems a little difficult. It's Valentine's Day and she is still pissed off at her liar of an ex, plus she is not having really a good night. There is too much noise at the bar where she works, she just wants her shift to end so she can go home and relax. Then she meets someone who literally takes her breath away. But who is he? Or more appropriately, what is he? And why is she attracted to her in a way she has never been attracted to anyone else?
It's a fun and interesting read. Story is lighthearted and flows smoothly from the start until the very end. I think it's a must read for all readers. I'd definitely recommend it to all my friends.

I received this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
When I first started reading this, I wasn't sure that I would enjoy this, especially due to the short length- the story would have to be incredibly tightly crafted.

And it was. This story sucked me in and then held on ferociously from beginning to end. The two main characters- Callius and Fred come from such different world and different supernatural experiences (quite literally) and yet their human and paranormal sides connect to form a whole. Without bloodshed, without over the top supernatural antics, without roadblocks forcing them together and apart continuously. You can't help but root for Callius to find a mate from the get-go, and you really want Fred to find someone who will treat her like she belongs.
I have only one complaint- I wanted more!

Great book!

This is a hot and steamy Valentine's romance. Winifred, a wolf shifter is down on her luck. Her boyfriend left and depleted her account and on top of that didn't pay their rent for months. Love is not in the cards for her.
Callus Faulk, a Dragon shifter enjoying his freedom along with his brothers. He is looking for a mate and a castle so they can establish their own Clan.
It seems like fate may be stepping in to help him out. Will Fred have the willpower to keep him away?
Can't wait to read more from this author.

The Dragon's Valentine, A Falk Clan Tale by C.D Gorri is a 5 star read.
After 500 years of servitude, Callius Falk and his 3 brothers are finally free to to live their lives for themselves. Callius as the oldest wants to find a castle/home for the four of them and to find his mate he doesn't expect to find her working in a bar he stops at to rest.
Winifred Castillo has had a rough time of it, her live in boyfriend has disappeared with all her savings and after he failed to pay the rent for the last 3 months she's now about to be made homeless. She's sworn off all men, but the golden eyed stranger sitting at the bar where she works makes her want to change her mind.
This is a new author for me and I found I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to reading more of her work.

Amazing story!! It was steamy, exciting and very creative in the development. Four dragon shifter brothers are finally free after a very long time of being locked away and finding a mate is very important. Then there's Winifred, a wolf shifter that's given up on men after being screwed over by her boyfriend. I love a good dragon shifter story and that's exactly what I got with this one.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this review voluntarily

It’s not bad

It’s not a horrible book but there isn’t really any plot. Really, there’s no plot at all. But, if you want a short we meet and we’re together forever, then this will work.

Sorry, Just not my type...really

I will admit I didn't get past the first 3rd. The story is not badly written, it has all the correct punctuation and verbage, more than a lot of stories being offered. But the contents were a bit silly. Dragon brothers chained and imprisoned by a dragon king for hundreds of years ...yet one of them kept the books for him..hahaha and managed to squirrel away millions for their use when they were released. Oook. Kinda like shawshank I guess. So they know about cell phones and internet but still call women Lady. Not my Lady. Just Lady. Ugh. And don't get me started on her , Winifred 's boyfriend has just stolen all her money, she's about to be homeless cause he hasn't paid the rent, even though he doesn't have a job?????and she doesn't think of tracking him down even though he's human and she's a bad as*ed wolf shifter. So many Plot holes I could drive a truck thru. So if you dont care about realism, plots or just simple math...

I read a shortened version of The Dragon’s Valentine by C.D. Gorri as part of Claiming My Valentine: A Collection of 14 Paranormal Romances and enjoyed it.

I love C.D. Gorri's Grazi Kelly, Angela Tanner & Macconwood tales, so I'm looking forward to reading this extended version of The Dragon’s Valentine when it is released and finding out how it fits together with the other books.

August 25, 2017

Unsurprisingly I was not disappointed, C.D. Gorri has a way of writing that sucks you into the world she has created. A world of werewolves, witches and now... dragons.

Yes!! Dragons are real and one of them has claimed Winifred (a member of The Macconwood Wolf Pack) as his mate.

This is a hot and steamy story, which, although it's set within the world that C.D. Gorri has created, is a wonderful stand alone read.

Dragons are my favourite supernatural creatures and I can't wait to find out more about Callius Falk and his brothers.

Winifred Castillo is a wolf shifter who has sworn off of men. Then Callius shows up and he's a dragon shifter free for the first time in 500 years looking for a home for him and his brothers. She is another of the Maconwood wolves we've been following. This story was awesome from the first word till the end. Looking forward to reading more stories.

While tending bar this Valentine’s Day, (Wini)Fred Castillo is very distracted. Her boyfriend just skipped town after cleaning out their joint bank account in a long con. He also didn’t pay rent for three months, so she must vacate her beachside residence in New Jersey tomorrow and find some way to live while paying the debt. Further, her less than cheerful attitude regarding all the happy couples hammering her heightened senses is endangering her tips. However, her plan to swear off men forever is tested by a golden eyed stranger. She pours him an overly spicy drink and sneaks into the backroom to call the Maccon Wolfpack Alpha to warn that some other form of powerful shifter is in town. Meanwhile Callius Faulk and his brothers just finished five hundred years of servitude to an inept Dragon clan master. As the eldest it will be Callius’ job to establish a safe territory and castle for the Faulk Clan once they have seen some of the world. He stopped by The Thirsty Dog on a whim but is amazed that the beautiful lycanthrope tending bar is his fated mate. Unwilling to let this Valentine treasure go, he heads to the back to convince Fred.
* * * * *------------* * * * *------------* * * * *
This is mostly a meet-cute rather than a full narrative arc. Typical of the genre, the story is told in alternating POV chapters. It has a safe, predictable feel and it is a speedy read. More fated mates rather than true romance and surprisingly less fish out of water antics than expected. There are hints of an established world (longevity leading to insanity, loyalty to pack/family, guilt over failures, soul separation curses, etc.) but the timeline for this tale is a single day (minus HEA epilogue) and none of those ideas are allowed to develop organically or get fully explored. There is no bloodshed or major conflicts. It has a sweet edge as Callius has a romantic need to find his diamond rose, they share resources, and they immediately start nest building. He doesn’t stalk her for some long period of time, kidnap her from her friends, or make crazy demands. He does turn ‘Hey can I have this kiss, into you are mine for eternity’ but miscommunication is part of the trope. Perhaps because I have not read any of the other novels from the shared universe I was confused by a few plot holes. Shifters are usually good at identifying lies and understand magical mating, but Fred is mostly clueless and passive on these issues despite her feisty personality type. Also despite the low page count, the text is repetitive as both characters are obsessed with the same thoughts from beginning to end. It checks enough boxes for genre fans, but it won’t convert anyone. Fine but forgettable.

This is a quick read, an instalove dragon/wolf shifter romance where the MCs are marked and mated the same night they meet. Lotta typos. There’s really no depth to their story at all, no plot to the book; the epilogue is literally their wedding 1 week after they meet. I’m pretty sure I spent more time thinking about how the MMC is going to function in the real world than the author did.

If the last time the MMC was out in the world was during the bustle era, I’m not convinced he would understand what‘s going on with the Valentine’s Day celebration at the bar. He might get that it’s a holiday celebrating lovers, but like… they hadn’t even invented glitter in 1880. In fact, how does he just flit into America, walk into a random bar on a busy night and manage to successfully order drinks? I had seen people order drinks on TV a million times before I turned 21 and still didn’t know how to flag down a busy bartender until I was like, 26.

But there’s more, because the MMC also knows how to use a laptop to log into his bank’s website to show the FMC how filthy rich he is. After 500 years of servitude to the dragon clan leader, he’s had time to amass a fortune and go paperless! He’s just that good, folks.

After almost five centuries locked up fighting for a tyrant, Callius and his brothers are free to go. Their servitude is over. Callius has a to-do list: find a mate, get a castle, and call to them to reunite under the same roof (or something of the kind). Fred is a hard working wolf, she’s struggling to keep a smile on her face with the things that has happened to her in under a week, however, things are about to change when a stranger, she can’t identify what he’s, is right in front of her having the drink of his life. Her included.
Be prepared for the push and pull, and the eye roll when these women (in stories like these) don’t ask questions. It unnerve me because I have journalists for parents, so, this is common sense. To ask around. Not interrogate, just yet, but you know. Let’s not apply logic here, much less pretend we are outraged, but this was the shortest type of courtship I have read in the shifter world. A manner of hours really, then a weeding a week later.

Onto the next one

Great story

A sweet, a little steamy, Valentine's Day story.
Winifred, "Fred", is a wolf shifter and member of the Macconwood Pack. Valentine's Day sucks this year. Her boyfriend, took off on her without a word and drained her bank account. She found out he hadn't paid the rent in a few months, and her landlord is kicking her out and selling her building.
Callus Falk, and his three brothers just finished their 500 year of servitude to their clan lord. A vindictive dragon who has punished them for their deceased father's crime. They are finally free. Callus, as the oldest, is charged with finding them a new home, and a mate, to start their own Clan.
He didn't expect to find her in the first place he stopped. Working in bar and and on Valentine's Day.

I received a free copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Love the Macconwood Pack series. This is a nice spin off. I bought a copy, I will read again.

After completing 500 years of servitude, dragon shifter Callius Falk and his three brothers are finally free. Callius has but one mission now - to find his true mate so he can set up a new home for them all. Wolf Shifter Ninifred Castillo (Fred) spends her nights tending the bar at The Thirsty Dog - the local favourite in Maccon City. Her most recent boyfriend skipped town with her rent money and so she has sworn off men for good. Then a dark-haired stranger with golden eyes and rippling muscles comes in and claims her as his mate.

I enjoyed this story which was a pleasant read as I liked the explanation as to why they had the servitude as well as why Fred was not into getting into any relationship with a man. I also enjoyed the connection to the Macconwood pack given the location. Easy to read and understand as well as feel the thoughts and emotions of the characters. Contains some explicit sexual content.

An okay read. Felt sorry for the brothers and what they had gone through. How dreadful to have to serve a selfish, ignoramus, spoilt brat of a leader for 500 years for something that had nothing to do with them. Would like to see him dead as he is not a fit leader.
Wasn’t enamoured with Winifred and her attitude at the beginning.
Nearly gave up reading with all the woe is me in chapter two. For goodness sake she is a wolf shifter, she should have known/sensed when the ex boyfriend was lying and that he intended to con her.
I have read the Macconwood Pack and vaguely remember some characters.
Badly in need of proof reading. Too many silly errors and missing words in sentences made it into the book. Luckily I read through KU. Hate paying for a book that is not well proofed.
Read through KU.

This is the first book in this series. Callius and his brothers have been imprisoned for the last 500 years because of something their father did. They are dragons and now that they are free, they are also banished from their homeland not that they are upset about that part. Now Callus must find them a castle to live in and a mate for himself. His brothers each want to take some time to travel and do as they please. Callius finds himself drawn to the small-town bar and he doesn’t know why but he is about to find out. Wini doesn’t have good luck with men. This last one took the cake. He wanted to move in fast and then took her for everything and left. Then she found out he hadn’t paid the last several months of rent. She is about to be evicted. Then Callius and Wini met. He knows right away that she is his mate. He isn’t sure what she is at first but that doesn’t matter to him. Wini knows there is something different about Callius and calls her alpha for help figuring things out. This book is a fast paced read. The two are fantastic for each other. The more Callius gets to know Wini the better she is for him. She is everything he is looking for in one package. I can’t wait to read more books in this series. Great job C.D. Gorri.

Ok, so, let's start with stuff about the book I liked: his way of talking? hilarious, at least to me. Her, being a hardworking woman, and not being afraid to support herself anyway she can, and studying to get a degree? Yes, please, we love that. That's it, that's everything that I liked.

At first the book felt like it had some potential, the epilogue had me. That being said, it took me 4 days to read this book, four, and it's a short book, lets keep in mind I read Pucking around in like 3 days (and that's because I was being constantly interrupted 🙄). This book made me sleepy. It was incredibly hard to concentrate when Winifred kept dissociating herself, I felt more in her head than in the book, and it happened so much that I began dissociating myself. I also felt like it didn't have a lot of plot, proving to be very boring in my opinion. About the spice, it's like 0.1 🌶️, sorry.

This is a freebie on Amazon. First in a series about dragon shifters. This author is extremely prolific with her romances, but this is the first book I've read of hers. USA Today bestselling author...

So, this is a short read. Wolf shifter heroine has overcome tragedy & found a pack in New Jersey, but trouble still follows her. Dragon shifter hero has endured 500 years of servitude & is at last free. He & his brothers follow their destiny looking for their fated mates. The hero finds his in a remarkedly short amount of time.

So, if you want a brain candy read, this will do. Not a lot of depth, but lots of hotness. Sex is not immediate, but they do it within hours of meeting each other & mate for life. It seems characters from other books make an appearance, but can be read as a stand alone.
Not sure if I'm going on with the series.
The cover is hot!

I was kind of worried that it wouldn't be a full story with only about 100 pages but it is a great story that is well done by the author. There is build up and character development and it is a complete story.

The characters are well developed with their histories detailed and you get both of their points of view. I really liked them both and thought they made a great couple. They knew they connected immediately and he was not going to let her ignore it because of her past mistakes. I would love to read more about how his brothers find their mates.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.
