The Berylian Key #3

Unraveling of the Soul

Rate this book
A soul can be broken into fragments, but giving them away could cause the rest to unravel.

While continuing the ruse of Amarie's death, Kin suffers at the hands of his master. The path his life must take becomes clear when his mother's life is jeopardized. Ridding himself of the corrupt power in his veins is the only choice he can make. It is no minor task, but he can't let Uriel continue to use him and gain the throne of Feyor.

Confined to restrictive quarters, Talon has nothing to do but dwell on the circumstances of his life and recent actions. Brought before the Elder's Council and isolated from Amarie, he stands accused of crimes, both old and new. He must face the consequences of bringing her to Eralas, and defying his banishment.

After throwing herself to the mercy of the auer, intent on sparing Talon a horrendous fate, Amarie fears nothing can change the outcome of his sentence. In a drastic act, she bargains with the greatest leverage she has and hopes she isn't too late.

Desperation fuels life-altering decisions, placing the future of Pantracia in grave danger. If those who seek to protect it fail... the kingdoms, and life as they know it, will fall to ash and shadow.

Unraveling of the Soul is Book 3 in The Berylian Key trilogy, and Book 3 in the Pantracia Chronicles.

Amanda has been writing stories for as long as she can remember—and perhaps a little before that, too. Art has always been a staple in her life - from creative writing to painting, first published at age ten. She is an award-winning, published artist, though she left her career in VFX to return to her passion of writing. The memories of late night writing binges, glued to the computer screen at 1AM, brought her back to the fantasy worlds she created.

From Langley, British Columbia, Amanda lives with her husband, son, and parents in a scenic rural area. When she’s not writing, she enjoys travelling, horseback riding, spending time with her family, and creating art in her workshop.

I liked this book but I also didn't at the same time? This is the 3rd book in the Pantracia Chronicles and I felt like the entire series lacked in world building. I liked the concept, but I was confused at times because names, places, and things weren't described so I didn't know what they were, who they were, or what it meant. I'm also not a huge fan of love triangles either and I didn't like how she was with Talon for a majority of the book. The only good part was the epilogue because Amarie and Kin are now back together after being in their Slumbers. I did like their story so maybe I'll read the next series.

I am absolutely loving this series!! And I’m not really sure what to say in this review because I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but let’s just say I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! I totally did not see it going where it did but it made sense for the characters. I love these characters so so much, Amarie, Kin, and Talon. And these books are so well written they are great to read! The ending was good. Not a crazy cliffhanger, though it’s left open for later books in the series to continue the overarching story. This is the end of the first trilogy of the series and it wrapped up for the main characters. I wish it could have been different but it made total sense and since there’s more books in the series there’s a good chance things could change yet. Anyway if you enjoy high fantasy romance you must read this series! I’m on to the next book!

The third book of this series is, by far, my favourite. Not just for the continuation of Kin, Amarie, and Talon, but because this story really speaks to the reality of human nature.

The characters have to navigate complicated emotions, mental illness, and real heartbreak, which feels so poignant, and still manages to make me love these characters even more.

There’s a note at the end of this book that these characters are temporarily leaving the main story line and I truly can’t wait for them to return. To be honest, it’s gonna be hard to move to new characters, especially with an ending like this book had… but can’t wait for more adventures.

This was hard to read. Not because it had poor editing or the story was bad. It was so, so good! But I kept hoping for something good to happen to anyone. While there was a lull for Talon and Amarie, it doesn't last. I was destroyed emotionally by the time it was done. I am eager to begin the next book in the series. Just know that there is no HEA or even a HFN. I'll just thrilled that the series continues.

The ending of the Berylian Key trilogy is a doozy! I'm looking forward to continuing the saga in the rest of the Pantracia Chronicles. This is the first book where we get a good look at the BIG BAD of presumably the series, and it's fun. I'm not sure what's up with Uriel, but it's clear that there's a lot more to learn. I've enjoyed this first foray into Pantracia. I love the world building. The characters are engaging and have hidden facets that make me want to learn more about them.

Holy cow, couldn't read this book fast enough. The way that this book just has you in a chokehold is unreal. Just when you think you know what to expect, the authors throw you in for a loop. But it's never forced and it always makes sense to the story. Please stop what you're doing and read this book/chronicles. You will not be disappointed!

In ways it’s hard to say much without talking plot and nothing in this book should be spoiled in advance of experiencing it. The authors of these novels have such a wonderful understanding of the complexity of people, and emotions. This novel is an absolute journey and it will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions.

Reread the trilogy, and absolutely fell in love with all three main characters all over again!! I loved how the plot thickened, but answered questions along the way. Amazing trilogy read!!

I loved this book, but I read it more sporadically. Something about it felt like it dragged on slightly. And Some areas were super predictable. But I do love how the characters develop and there aren't any plot holes, all areas are returned to and wrapped up when needed. I loved that Talon went to go and help raise Ayrela (I can't remember how to spell it), that made me cry a little. I also loved the semi cliff hanger of an ending with Kin and Amarie, them waking up and not holding any of their memories but being together, that made me so happy, I'm excited to pick up the next book.

I eagerly awaited the release of this book after finishing with book 1 and 2 of this trilogy.
The continuation of Amarie, Kin and Talon’s story was again capturing my imagination and I could feel the emotions going through the characters as if I was there.
Throughout this book there are so many exciting and also surprising developments that I kept reading and reading as the tension of the story built up.
The end of the book is very fitting. It wraps up the trilogy nicely but there is still so much room for more adventures and I look forward to when this story continues.
There were a few new characters introduced and I can’t wait to read more of their stories.

I received a free e-copy if this book in exchange for my honest review. I really rather liked the way they tied up this story line and yet left enough open for the next set of books to cover. They leave enough for you to want to read the next book, without leaving you feeling like you've been left in the middle of a chapter. These 2 authors have done a fantastic job with these self published books. Well written, well edited. I liked it enough to buy the actual book so I would have the whole set in the same format. I can not wait for the next installment.
