From the first living things six billion years ago to the animals living around the world today, explore how the huge diversity of the life on Earth came to be. Follow the branches of Charles Darwin’s “Tree of Life” and discover how plants and animals have evolved in many amazing ways. Find out why crabs run sideways, which fish was the first to walk on land, why birds are similar to dinosaurs, and why brains are located in our heads and not in our feet. The book is stunningly illustrated by Margaux Carpentier in a bright and bold distinctive style.
Helpful overview of evolution. Good, new information for me and my 7-year-old. I would have given it 5** but I found at least one typographical error and, more frustratingly, there weren't pronunciation keys, not even in the glossary of terms. In a book that's designed to introduce a scientific concept, I would have appreciated a bit more help for the parents reading it aloud! 😂
Very text-heavy with weird placement of text boxes. Busy and hard to read. Given that there are better books to convey the same ideas (if there weren't, I'd put up with these problems), I do not recommend this book. Probably the best alternatives are One Beetle Too Many and the various books about evolution like Grandmother Fish and One Day a Dot.
An absolutely beautiful book, clearly explained and without waffle. Brilliant to recommend to my UKS2 class who adore animals and plants. Love it!love it!love it!
