He's the best kind of revenge a girl can ask for... Indie Jackson can't believe her hot senior boyfriend dumped her. She thought they were doing so well. It wasn't like she was expecting their relationship to last forever. A whole school year was all she was hoping for, really. But it turned out Brad McNeely had other plans...and they didn't include her. When her best friend suggests they come up with a revenge plan, Indie seriously considers it—egging her ex-boyfriend's beloved car does sound tempting. But not quite as tempting as Grayson Turner's—her best friend's brother— get a fake boyfriend to make Brad jealous. Totally crazy? Yes. Completely juvenile? Oh, definitely. But Indie believes she can pull it off. Now, she just has to convince the guy she has in mind to get with the program. After all, it was his idea to begin with...
Madeleine Labitan lives and breathes for three things: books, coffee and Netflix. Deny her of one and you'll make an enemy for life.
A former content writer and virtual assistant, she decided to leave the freelance world behind to spend the rest of her days falling for swoon-worthy book boyfriends and hating on their heroines while simultaneously pretending to be a dedicated author.
She's been writing most of her life, and after nearly a decade of procrastinating, finally decided to try her luck on being an author.
Truth or Dare is her first foray into the publishing world and hopefully not the last...
And, oh, she’s in social media. Not that active, but she tries:
I was actually surprised that this was a published book. It was kind of cute but I doubt I would find this in a bookstore. This didn´t feel like a finished project.
hate to do this since the book has so few ratings, but it has to be said. I only made it to 50% of the book and nothing and everything happened by that point.
Let me explain:
Ch1 the MC is dumped. Okay, cool that's pretty standard for this trope. HOWEVER, in the same chapter, hell, a few paragraphs in she is already asking to start a fake relationship with her BFF brother. By the next chapter he agrees. The whole fun of this trope is the lead-up and the back and forth. We also get a fun couple of paragraphs where the MC is gushing about how gorgeous she is. No joke. I'm all for being confident, but it comes off as conceited and changes her from a sympathetic character to one that you don't feel bad for(another hallmark of an amateur writer is when the MC launches into a detailed description of how they look. Authors please stop doing this. Find a better way because no one thinks to themself like this). By CH5 the two are already kissing. No lead up (again most of the fun) just bam! So at that point, I'm like okaaaay.
I get that this is a short read, but there still needs to be character development. And consistency. The MC's BFF is described as being level-headed and grounded and is the first to say they should egg her ex's car. On top of all of this, there are tons of editing issues including words being used incorrectly.
In the end, there was nothing to grab my attention and in fact, I found myself zoning out a couple of times.
How to say this without being cruel? The writing style was juvenile sounding. The MC is full of herself and acts kind of self-absorbed. If she changes later in the book, good for her, but I can't be along for that ride. I just couldn't get through this.
Not for me. Maybe it's the fact that I'm almost thirty and this is just too young for me or if it's the fact it is written too young that does it. Does that make sense?
Honestly, I read a lot of cliché romance books but this one was different. I kept wondering if I was on Wattpad or another one of those platforms where new writers just try things out. And you forgive the writer any mistakes and plot holes because you know they’re still learning. Instead I had actually bought the book from amazon...It was very cheap so I didn’t really lose any money but in case anyone is reading this, wondering if they should give it a try, I would tell you, don’t. It was really hard for me to get into the story and then everything was just so fast paced and there was no real build up. They realize they’re in love with each other after a week...like I’m sorry but stuff like that only works when you switch over into the supernatural and create a world around that, where it makes sense. And then their “relationship” revolves around them just constantly hooking up and her thinking “ugh he’s so annoying but he’s such a good kisser”. There was no heartache or swooning along as a reader...it was just plain. And I just hated how she treated her “best friend”.
Okay! This book was really good. I wasn't even disappointed at all with this book. I finished it in two days. I was glad that it was good enough to finish that fast!
I thought Grayson probably liked Indie to begin with even though he was dodging her request to fake date her. He finally gave in when they both saw Brad with Daphne...
In the end, I also knew that they both would've fallen for each other, and Brad only acted on his feelings towards Indie again because he saw her with someone new "Grayson" who he was jealous of and hated. Well, they both hated each other.
Plus, Brad, to me, only broken up with Indie because he probably thought Daphne had something better. But at least he realizes that he wasn't getting Indie back and push things with Daphne. And Indie finally realizes that Grayson did like her, and they fix that half-broken relationship.
P.S.But I can say I am waiting on the next book to this series. I know it's going to be about Indie's best friend, aka Grayson sister Allie and Gray's best friend Duane... the book called "Risking It"... I think so I'm going to be on the lookout for that one
This was a cute little story! Yes it was a quick read and skipped around alittle bit but got to the point. It was short and sweet and a great read for when your bot wanting to jump in to a long book! I have always loved the revenge on ex books so this was right up my alley. Also with it being a shorter book it skipped through most of the drama! Not bad at all if I do say so myself!
So, this book was alright. However, if your considering reading this book keep in mind that it’s definitely a teen book and is G rated. It was just personally not the book for me. I found it to be lacking in the storyline, plot, and details. I like a story I can immerse myself in. This book didn’t hit that mark with me. I also found it extremely unrealistic. I mean come on Indie and Allison should have had a major brawl fight when Allison found Indie liked her brother for real and they were kissing for real. I also found a lot of grammar and typo errors. I would give this a 3.0

So, this book served the purpose I wanted: a quick, fluffy story of love. However, the love was very superficial and physical. The characters didn't connect at an emotional level. And I don't really feel like I know Grayson at all. There wasn't really anything keeping them apart as a couple. That particular tension was non-existent. They had a misunderstanding/argument that got cleared up within a few pages. It was an incredibly fast read and pure fluff. Which I don't mind. But I like more substance to the main characters.
i enjoyed this book about Grayson or Gray and Indie. Indie's boyfriend dumped her and within days of that happening her is seen at school making out with another girl. Indie is humiliated and heartbroken. She goes over to her best friend's house to plan revenge. When Gray her best friends brother comes up with the perfect idea.
He wants Indie to find a fake boyfriend to make her ex, Brad jealous. Gray is the captain of the Lacross team and he's hugely popular, so Indie wants him to be her new fake boyfriend. They've been friends for years. So, Gray goes along with the plan.
This book was and enjoyable and quick read. I love a good fake romance and this one has the added bonus of a best friends brother!
As much as I loved the characters and the storyline it was missing all the drama and angst i usually look for in these sorts of storys , but if you have an hour to spare this is deefo worth the read and I'm looking forward to picking up book 2
I loved this it’s short, sweet, and cute. To me this series is more of a novella some stories are just meant to be short. I hate when an authors adds extra amounts of crazy drama sometimes I feel they do it just to add pages to their story. Not a whole lot of crazy drama just the right amount of it. I love both characters Gray and Indie. I love their story of falling in love it definitely catches them off guard. I also love how strong Indie is she not going to let someone push her around.

I give this story a 3.5 i enjoyed reading it, and it was a really short quick read just wasn't as well written as other story's I've read don't get me wrong it's still nicely written just not as well as others in my opinion still quite a nice read and I plan on reading the second in the series as well
This is a really cute book, right from the start it caught my attention until the last page. It’s a nice quick read with a good story. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to fall in love with their best friends brother.
I did enjoy the story but I was distracted and disappointed by the foul language. I can understand some occasional, strategically placed MINOR swear words in a YA that is marketed for 13-18 year olds. But this book had several F-bombs and SH words.
Cutesy I mean we all know how this type of story goes right? No angst? No chills, because they always fall too fast. I wish I can read a faking relationship book that they really Hate each other guts and feel no attraction what so ever than slowly Fall for each other.
Little to no plot developments. Everything was rushed through. Super easy read but didn’t require any effort. If you’re sitting on a bench needing a distraction this is a good one but I wouldn’t plan my reading time around it.
This book was really fast paced so it was a cute quick read but I didn’t get into it at all I finished it because I can’t leave a book unread Characters had no development at all They went from best friends to live in seconds and it was cringe!
It was a cute and fun read. A little too fast paced to really establish the connection between Grayson and Indie but cute nonetheless. Seemed a little too juvenile but still enjoyable
I actually really enjoyed this story. I'm such a sucker for the fake boyfriend trope and this really was satisfying. I liked that it was short and sweet
