Wickedly Charmed #1

Rebel Academy: Crave

Rate this book

Nothing is more deadly than secrets…

…and mine could bring this mysterious academy to its knees.

Many have forgotten my name. Magenta: the wicked witch whose dark magic created the Rebel Academy — a secret magic jail for supernatural bad boys. But now I’m back and eager to claim the love and life that was stolen from me, even if first I have to survive the start of term.

My enemies trapped me as a ghost on the very cursed grounds that I helped to create. Yet thanks to three deliciously tempting immortals, I’ve been awakened. One is a beautiful incubus who hungers for pleasure. The next a gorgeous shifter-mage who always senses the truth but enjoys his lies far more. Oh, and who could ever forget Loki’s hot trickster son?

Why choose between these sexy delinquents when having them all is such sinful fun?

The immortals risked everything to free me, and I’ll stop at nothing to protect them from the elitist princes who rule the reform school. Will my bond with the magical students and new friendships be enough to battle the dangerous rivalries, as well as the cruel professors’ schemes?

Or will I be forced back into the darkness…

…and left to fade away? Rebel Academy: Crave is a Reverse Harem Fantasy Romance that contains M/M and hot, consensual scenes that are for 18+ only.

I’m so confused

I got through 52% and am literally so confused about this book and would really like someone to explain it to me spoilers and all. I had the hardest time following, some of the banter is over dramatized which made it a little hard to follow. Then there’s something about escaping dragons who are shifters. And you first follow the lead and then the next like bunch of chapters are all the guys’ perspective so much so you are scratching your head at what happened to the female. Then she pops back in as “the ghost they’ve been looking for”. I don’t even get the concept. So the guys are basically slaves to the witches? All the male inhabitants of this book? And it’s a reform school, but then it’s not for the witches? Do they attend this? I got through half the book and it just all didn’t make any cohesive sense. So hopefully someone will write up a synopsis with spoilers because I just couldn’t with this book.

I have been wanting to read this on since Bad Loki and it did not disappoint at all. It was very different from what I'm used to reading. But it was a good different. I looking forward to the next book.

Rosemary A. Johns' writing style and my reading style click. It's hard to explain what happens when I read one of her books, because yes, you really can't read those with other stuff on your mind, but it just works for me. I just want to keep on reading and reading and reading. So, I'm quite happy that I got the entire box set of this series to review! You'll get a review for each book, since I don't binge read to prevent a reading slump.

What I love most about Johns' books is that they're so focussed on the emotions and personal development of the characters. That doesn't mean there's no plot, because there for sure is a plot, but the plot is hidden behind loads of emotional drama and loads of personal issues characters have to work through. And although that means her stories are not that spectacular, it does mean her stories are really intense and touching.

It also means that the stories are really atmospheric. It's hard to explain exactly what happens, but by making the books all about the characters, it seems as if the story starts to breathe those characters. The entire story, the entire world, the entire plot, it's all colored and determined by the characters telling us their story. We're not just reading their story, we're feeling their story and experiencing their story, because they give their souls to the story.

This book had an extraordinary interesting set of characters. Magenta is layered, complicated and more than just a cute girl falling in love with a lot of men, but her men are also way more than love interests. Even the side characters are way more than just passing by. All those characters are so real and deep and unique. As a reader you can just feel that they all have their own history and their own stories to tell. I can't wait to read what's waiting for them in the next books!

Meh

I don't understand the high reviews. Maybe I just don't like this author's writhing style because the first book of hers I didn't make it halfway. Anyway the storyline is a good concept but very boring. The characters are whiny immature and act like they're going through puberty. Just very disappointed.

Crave: Rebel Academy

“The mage shall pay for this crime, and Magenta, you’ll learn what happens when you choose the path of the wicked over the blessed.”- Henrietta, Head of the House of Crows

Magenta, heir apparent to the House of Crows and the first Blessed Charmed witch to be born in more than five hundred years, is devastated. Her mother, Henrietta, had just informed her that she, Magenta, is to marry the Fae prince, Titus. But Magenta's heart belongs to Robin, a shimage who is treated worse than any low born slave.

In desperation, Magenta entreaties Hecate for freedom: freedom from a loveless marriage to a complete stranger, freedom from her mother's machinations, freedom to love Robin... Hecate answers... But in a totally unexpected manner... And the curse on Rebel Academy is invoked...

"Ice-cold lips feathered tentatively against mine, and I pressed back eagerly. This was my first kiss, and it was with death. Yet Rebel Ghost tasted like life." - Fox

Fox is unceremoniously dropped at the Rebel Academy. Shivering in the courtyard, Fox immediately manages to irritate the principal, Damelza Crow. Transported to his room, Fox quickly discovers all is not as it seems... When the alarm blares, Fox and Bask as well as Sleipnir are sent out to recapture a loose dragon. When they fail, they are sent on a two hour punishment run around the lake... Sleipnir sees the Rebel Ghost.... And the chaos moment is born...

Ethereal, intense, haunting! A mystical tale that twists and turns, twining around and through, masterfully crafted and deliciously decadent. Fighting for freedom, for the right to live and love. Sensual yet somehow innocent, a captivating read!

“I’m the original wicked witch who cursed this academy,” she whispered. - Rebel Ghost

I'm a huge fan of Rosemary's Rebel books, but I think Rebel Academy has taken the slot for my favorite so far. She really put a different twist on the types of characters that we are already familiar with from her books. Witches with ghostly attributes, mages that can shift into multiple animals, gods with different personalities inside them. I'm always surprised at the types of characters I'm introduced to, and I love to learn everything that they are truly capable of as the story continues.
One of my favorite things about this book was that a good chunk of it was in the male characters' perspectives. This was partially necessary because of the predicament the FMC was in at the beginning of the book, but it really allowed the reader to get to know Fox, Bask, and Sleipnir. I feel like this is the first rebel book where we aren't somewhat clueless about the male characters until further in the book. It was nice to learn a bit about their background so we could understand their pain more. There's still a lot more to learn, but tidbits like this make me look forward to knowing the entire backstory of each of them.
Magenta's character is also a fun one. Even though she's been dead for one hundred years and you still expect her to be sophisticated and proper (there are moments where you see this), she is more of a sarcastic, witty rebel than anything. Some of the dialogue from her in this book seriously had me giggling. For someone with such a terrible past, she has a positive attitude and determination to right the wrongs of the academy.
I'm very much looking forward to learning more about Magenta and her guys, as well as how the Princes will mesh into all of this in book two!

ONE SPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE!!!
Hatching hellions! Rosemary delivers one flaming inferno, hotter than a volcano and more explosive than C-4, imparting the thrill of the chase and the skill of the hunt, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. One non-stop, action packed, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, page flipping, block buster, presenting a brilliantly composed spin, showcasing a killer storyline and gripping plot, catapulting this gem to a whole new level. Rolling with the drama, intrigue, turmoil, underlying threats, misgivings, tension, danger, spiraling suspense and nerve racking situations, along with a boatload of dark dastardly deeds while dodging disaster, you have one intoxicating masterpiece. The attraction and chemistry sizzles from the pages and suck you in so deeply until you feel the heat and electricity thrumming through your veins. The characters, banter, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, transforming into genuinely approachable personalities. The scenes are written with such realism, impressive talent and unique insight, blasts this sparkling jewel to life, making the storyline pop. Awesome job Rosemary, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "REBEL ACADEMY-CRAVE" What a fantastic way to start a new series "WICKEDLY CHARMED BOOK ONE" it so full if different paranormals, mystery, danger, hot steamy scenes, suspense, intrigue, humor, witty banter, magic, dark twist that have you turning the pages.
Magenta is a powerful witch that was trapped as ghost on the cursed grounds of the Rebel Academy she created as secret prison for supernatural bad boys.
Three Immortal Bad Boys one a mage & shifter who could sort out lies and truth, one an incubus that caved pleasure, then Loki's son the trickster managed to wake Magenta they were her crew she didn't have to choose one they were hers all three.
When Magenta returns to Rebel Academy to take back what was her it was the Princes against the Immortals and she'll show them not to under estimate her again she'll protect the Rebels and her crew.
This is definitely a book you don't want to miss Rosemary is such a creative writer she kniw how to pull her readers right in and not let go until finished reading you'll live the storyline and the amazing characters I defintely recommend so well worth the read I can't wait for book 2 in this series "CRUSH" PHENOMINAL STORY WITH LAUGH OUT LOUD MOMENTS!!!!!

Revel Academy: Crave is Book 1 in the Wickedly Charmed series by Rosemary A. Johns. As usual, Rosemary has created a marvelous world with superb, relatable, interesting characters. Her writing draws you into her world with excellent description and well developed characters. Rebel Academy is in truth a prison of sorts for supernatural bad boys. Our MFC Magenta created the Academy but was cursed. The Academy is cursed and the curse is maintained by the trapped body and spirit of Magenta, a witch and the Blessedly Charmed, who is trapped in a tree. Three of the Rebels (an incubus, a mage/shifter, and Loki's trickster son risk all to free Magenta. Now that she is free, she will protect them and the Academy Rebels with her life. Beginning with page one, this is a rollercoaster ride filled with action, suspense, adventure, twists/turns, intense romantic scenes, etc. that will keep you turning pages to the last as you need to know what is going to happen as well as leave you wanting more. Am anxious for the next book in the series to see what Rosemary has in store for Magenta and her rag tag crew. I highly recommend this book as it is a phenomenal way to start a series. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.

*Spoiler Alert*
Rebel Academy is a school where any guys with magic are sent to learn. Except that its nothing like Harry Potter at Hogwarts. Its run by Henrietta a house of crow witch and a descendant of the Ghost Magenta (FMC). A ghost witch of the academy and the complete opposite of her. Shes sweet, funny and compassionate. With her familiars - Flair & Echo who are quick-witted, funny as well as pervy, lol. Oh god they made me laugh so much with some of the stuff they come out with. Im hoping that they get to change back into guys at some point? That would be so good! Loved the Rebels - Bask (Incubi), Sleipnir (Loki's son) & especially Fox. Some of the things that fox said had me cracking up too. Laughing at the Wizard of Oz soundtrack remark, lol. So funny. I totally loved reading this book. Bring on book 2 im dying to get my hands on it

Rosemary Johns first introduced us to Fox in a novella and Rebel Academy, along with the other characters in her new trilogy. Now, we read the story of Magenta, the Blessedly Charmed and how the curse upon Rebel Academy occurred. Fox will play a biggest part in what is to come and happen to the Immortals. It all started with the love of two best friends…then they were separated by death, shadows, a curse and darkness. Now, a new shimage has appeared and his blood freed Magenta partially from her prison. They will have to win some competitions to keep Fox from being killed! They have the support and love of Bask (Crave), Sleipnir, Mist, Midnight, and other Rebels to keep everyone alive…but at what cost? Magenta is the MOST singularly powerful witch besides Crimson…it was and is her magic that made Rebel Academy…but it is also her curse that turned it into Winter all the time. Now, that she is back, she will do whatever it takes to protect all the Rebels…especially her crew. They will make the mistake of underestimating Magenta once too often…but we will have to wait to see what happens when that occurs…I love the new series…they all interconnect but are singular at the same time…you will not want to miss out on the best one yet…I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.

Rebel Academy: Crave is an Awesome book
I loved the storyline and the Rebel characters are lovable.. my favorites are Magenta (The Immortals Prefect, Ghost Witch, Crow), Fox ( Confess, the Immortals Whipping Boy), Sleipnir ( the Son of Loki, Slippy), Bask ( Crave/an Incubus of the Night Lineage) and Midnight (Vampire, Fallen Angel, the Princes Whipping Boy/Curse).
There is a guest mention of Aquillo who is Fox's cousin. Aquillo is also a Rebel Mage who can be found in the Rebel Werewolf series.. Aquillo is married to Crimson at the end of book 3.
In Rebel Academy: Crave you will find surprises and lots of humorous quotes.. I can't wait to read book 2 to see what happens with these wonderful characters.

Dark reverse Harem Paranormal Romance

When I began this book I wasn't sure if I liked it. The ghost witch didn't make sense to be. The more I read the more it drew me in. I absolutely love fox. I love the resident ghost witch. I can't tell you more without spoilers. I am so glad book 2 is already out. This isn't your average academy story. It's dark. If you like a dark story , I think you will like this one.

Magenta's story is sad and angsty.
When she finds love it definitely becomes dangerous. I feel the Rebel Academy is more than it seems, and maybe Magenta and the Rebels can Institute some change. Looking forward to the next in series.

Rosemary Johns does it again. Beyond a 5 star read. This book has so many layers, twists and turns. I couldn't put it down. As many people have said this will be one of many favorite series. I can't wait to see where this series goes.
Magenta has become a favorite character. To me is an amazing story and has witches, mages that shift into animals, gods, and other incredible characters. But Rosemary puts a different twist to them. Love, Love,

Rosemary has a wonderful way of creating vibrant stunning scenery to her books, so you expect stunning world building and diverse characters but i believe that to date this was my favorite book as the storey was so intriging, full of depth and different layers which added a little complexity.
I loved Magenta and her fight for forbidden love, The twists and turns are preset as you expect but in this series we have some really wonderful whitty banter which just adds another level.
A really wonderful read that i enjoyed very much.
