Jared has enough on his plate as a single father and Alpha of the smallest pack in North America. He’s not interested in a relationship, especially not with the aggravating human teacher who knows nothing of his world.

Fate has other plans however, and when a threat to Lane’s life leads him within the walls of Jared’s estate, they’ll be forced to face their attraction once and for all. But will it be enough to save them both from the wrath of a bitter rival?

This was a pretty fun shifter story.

When elementary school teacher Lane made a trip to the mall, the last thing he expected was to be befriended by an adorable little boy who claimed to be a werewolf.

Lane also didn't anticipate how attracted he would be to Conall's Hot Dad, Jared, the Alpha of a clade of local Wolves. And for the attraction to be reciprocal.

Of course, Lane just thought that the boy was telling tall tales, as kids often do; however, upon being attacked at school by a wolf with murder on its mind, Lane hightailed it to Hot Dad's house for help, and maybe a teeny bit of protection.

The three main elements for drama here were the wolf attacks, attractions turning into something more, and how the powers that be didn't appreciate little Wolves telling *anyone* of their existence.

I love kids and Conall totally made this story for me, since he was written in a very believable manner. He was just so cute that I may have popped a man-ovary or two. heh

The story also includes a good deal of diversity, with characters of color, a trans sister, and a non-binary pack member, so thumbs up for inclusion.

In regards to the romance, there was a nice balance between that, action, suspense, and intrigue, with the steam being there, but not completely overpowering.

The book is the first in a new series and the story left off in a good place; however, the story had some plot points left unresolved, which I'm assuming will be addressed in future books.

I'd rate this story at around 4.25 stars and do plan to read the next book in the series.

Morgan Elektra’s Protecting His Pack is an enchanting mix of paranormal, magic, and mystery. This fast-moving story has non-stop action, interesting characters, and was just incredibly fun to read.

Total opposites, Jared and Lane make a great pair. A strong and confident alpha, Jared is a nurturing and attentive father, an uninhibited, creative lover, and a well-respected leader. (Basically, Lane’s dream man come to life.) Jared is drawn to Lane’s good looks. Plus, his open and caring nature makes him a perfect fit for Jared and his son. They’re drawn to each other, and even coming off a long-term relationship, Lane has a hard time resisting the pull.

I enjoyed the unique and clever set-up that leads to the romance between Lane and Jared. It builds slow and steady, and Ms. Elektra treats us to a delightful slow-burn. Even though there are so many extenuating circumstances why these two men shouldn’t be together, they just keep finding their way back to each other. Once they finally work through what it means to themselves and the pack, and dive into a relationship, their chemistry is smoking hot.

As the tale evolves Morgan Elektra builds a fascinating world. Her descriptions of places and events are very romantic, and the characters’ backstories are interesting and thorough. I love the magical and mystical elements, plus the power struggle within the different packs is going to prove very interesting. Elektra has laid the foundation for a fascinating series and I’m anxiously awaiting the next episode in this North American Wolves collection.

This is the first book in what seems to become a series. It is also my first exposure to this author, but definitely not my last.

I read this book at the end of 2019 (yes, yes, my review is late) and it immediately went to my Top 10 Best Reads for 2019. This book is freaking awesome. There are wolf shifters, which by itself isn't so unusual, but the mythology the author created and the rules for this world was fascinating. Secondly, the characters were multi-faceted, with good background info sprinkled in throughout, and well-drawn. The plot had some twists and turns that I didn't expect, and the pace was perfectly adapted to the plotline.

Lane Perkins has escaped his controlling ex-boyfriend by taking a teaching position at an elementary school in the small town of Watson Hollow, NY. During a trip to the local mall in the weeks leading up to Christmas, he runs into a little boy named Conall, who proceeds to tell him about his Papa, his being a born wolf, and whose father, Jared Atherton, makes Lane's insides tingle, even if he doesn't quite believe the wolf part. And he's certainly not interested in giving any time whatsoever to another dominant alpha male like his ex-boyfriend. Nope, Lane has zero interest.

Jared too knows better than to get involved with Lane. He not only has a pack of wolves to run, but also stay out of wolf politics, deny his birthright, all while still grieving the loss of his late wife and raising his son. Jared does not need any complications, no thanks, no matter how good Lane Perkins smells, even if his scent isn't entirely human, and no matter how loudly the wolf inside demands to claim the other man as his true mate.

But someone or something is stalking Lane, harassing him and ultimately attacking him in the school parking lot, so Jared offers Lane a place to stay at the wolf compound, behind gates and protection of the pack.

And the UST is so thick you can cut it with a knife.

I loved, loved, loved this book. Lane and Jared were great characters, and even though Lane is physically smaller than Jared, and even though Jared is the more dominant of the two, being an alpha, Lane has absolutely no problem at all with finding his spine and putting Jared in his place when needed. He is also utterly fearless when it comes to defending those he loves, and he shows that time and again. Jared is more brooding, more mysterious, though he too puts family above all else, willing to sacrifice himself to save his loved ones. They were very well matched, and I absolutely believed in their unfolding romance.

Conall, at Kindergarten age, was written age-appropriately, and I simply adored him. He is smart and still innocent, loving and kind, and reminded me so much of my own kids at that age.

There are additional important side characters in this book that truly round out the cast of characters. Obviously, there's going to be drama, and much of it is hinted at early on in the book. What baffled me until the end was the identity of Lane's stalker/attacker. I had an idea but it turned out I was oh so wrong.

Some things are revealed in this book, though while it ends on a very satisfying HFN, there are still unanswered questions I hope will be answered in future books.

Like I said, this book made my Top 10 list for 2019. Highly recommended.

I loved it and can’t wait for the next book in the series. Lane & Jared were perfect for each other. Lane initially meets Conell, Jared's son, and he knows that Lane is a good person. Conell also tells Lane that they are werewolves, of course Lane doesn't believes him & is also worried because the little boy has wandered off. When Lane meets Jared he is instantly attracted to him but thinks he isn't a responsible father. Jared is also instantly attracted to Lane & believes that he is his true mate. But there is something odd about Lane's sent. After Lane is attacked by a rouge, he comes to believe that they are shifters. He bonded real quickly with Jared's wolf and was very at ease with him. So not only are they working on getting to know each and bonding, but Jared is trying to figure out who is responsible for the attacks.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest opinion.

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.75 stars

When some thing starts harassing Lane, attacking him in a dark parking lot, stalking him across the school grounds, Jared invites the teacher to stay at his house where he can protect him. For someone who is just beginning to believe all the stories about werewolves might just be true, it’s a chance to learn more about this mysterious world. And for two men who have been lonely and alone, it’s a chance, once again, to find love.

Lane is everything the perfect teacher ought to be. He’s patient and kind, has a sense of humor and a strong grasp on his temper. He’s open minded, brave, and compassionate. As much as I like the academic and the warrior trope, Lane felt a little too perfect, to me. He has no flaws, no small imperfections to make him more human. He’s just … a really, really good guy. It meant that when the big scenes happen at the end of the story where Lane has to stand up and prove his mettle, they didn’t really resonate because Lane didn’t have to prove anything. He hadn’t done anything wrong, hadn’t made any mistakes, hadn’t been a jerk to anyone. If anything, it just made him more perfect because he’s the guy who manages to save the day.

Protecting his Pack by Morgan Elektra was my first book by this author, and It won’t be the last.
I loved the story, the plot and the characters. I loved the world building, it was interesting and captivating, the secondary characters are loveable and intriguing (like Sebastian the Alpha of Alphas).
Lane and Jared are awesome and beautiful. Lane may be just human and smaller than the big Alpha, but he isn’t scare to voice his opinions, he isn’t scare to fight back against supernatural beings if it’s means protected his loved ones.
Jared may be an Alpha, but he doesn’t want it at first, he doesn’t want to have to deal with all the political thing and the hypocrisy coming with it. I loved his sensitivity, I loved how protecting he is of his pack, his son and Lane.
It was a very good start for this new series and I’m looking forward impatiently to read the next book in the series.

Protecting His Pack by Morgan Elektra is the first book in the North American Wolves series. This is a paranormal shifter, non mpreg, m/m romance. Jared and Lane are great characters. The story has drama, suspense, danger, and romance. It is an instant attraction but there are obstacles to overcome in this slow burn romance.

It is a fun, entertaining and interesting story with fantastic characters that pull you into their world. I was hooked from the beginning and definitely can not wait for next book to release.

I didn't know what to expect from this one, but I always love shifter romances so I didn't think twice before starting this book.

The prologue didn't sound that promising, honestly, but then the first chapter came and Lane met Conall and I fell in love with them. I'm a goner for single parent romances, and if the father is a hottie alpha... What more I could ask for?

I loved the beginning of this book, like the first half more or less. It was perfectly slowburn, with just enough intrigue as to what's going to happen, and then seeing Lane, Jared and his son together was amazing.

The romance is not mind-blowing but it's really enjoyable and not at all rushed (if you are looking for high steam, this is not it).

The world... But unnecessaryly confusing sometimes. It seemed too many bizarre words to try to make the story different when if used more intuitive and simpler words could have been helpful and as different as it is.

I liked the idea of how the world runs here. Relationships between Wolves, Witches and other creatures, but when going into specifics it was like too much info sometimes and too little other times.

For example, Sylvain's chapters where absolutely boring to me. And I'm guessing he will be an upcoming MC in the series, and I could feel interested in knowing his story... But I'm not sure of it. His chapters were longish, boring and a letdown whenever they came.

And this is why I liked the first half better. That's the simpler part, when we focus on a kid falling in love with a human guy that develops an attraction for his hot dad. The second half, on the other hand, focuses more on the bad guys' plot to take down our guys, and how they will survive everything.

Interesting, but not as fun to read for some reason.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book but it is currently available.

I love a good shifter story and I was intrigued about a human falling for a magical being. Without spoilers, this was kind of that but also not.

I really enjoyed the first 50% of this story but I felt like a lot of the details were missing. The setting kept confusing me- I know it is North America in winter but there are odd details about some of the characters coming from foreign places which confused my mind about the setting. It isn't until the epilogue that we final hear what state. I think that was a bit if an oversight.

I also found the main storyline to be muddled in places. The pack structure and dynamics were unclear at times which added to my confusion. I will say that in the end it wraps up nicely on a soft cliffhanger that implies a book 2.

Overall, this was a decent shifter story that I'm intrigued to read more about.

The first 60% is good. Than, Lane turns into this helpless damsel in distress... that is always a turn off for me.
The paranormal part is confusing, unclear, and the alpha who is feared by an entire council needs saving ... the way he is saved is absurdly ridiculous and lacking of vision.
For my fellow paranormal loving friends not reccomended but if you look for a simple read and you are able to overlook some plot holes than go for it.

Oh yes! This is a fabulous shifter book with everything I wanted.
I loved the pack and the little ones and the other secondary characters. It was a real treat to read this story.

I really hope the next book will be about Lane and Jared again as I think there is a lot of potential for at least one or two books with them as main couple.

And afterwards I want Sylvians book ... yes, he is kind of an ass but he grew on me.

This is a new author for me and I am really happy I got to read this story.

A True mates slow burn.

Lane and Jared certainly had the sparks flying from their very first meeting. Connection and chemistry added extra layers to their slow burn bond and when they finally stop being stubborn the heat level hits high.
I really liked these 2 main characters, especially how Lane didn’t back down to Alpha Jared and was prepared to meet him head on over important issues. Namely Jared’s adorable son Conall. There is also some interesting, intriguing side characters that add to the plot.

This is well written with the mystery and suspense moving at a good pace and the world building is done very well. Jared and Lane do get their HEA after minimal angst and jumping a few hurdles. I was left with the hope of more in the series as there were a couple of areas in the story I’d love to see expanded.

Lane and Jared’s connection sparks to life when they meet. Their slow burn bond echoed throughout the pages and I could happily get lost within it.

Lane was far from a push over and I enjoyed the moments when he went head to head to Jared. The tension between these two was thick and intoxicating. I loved the intensity of Lane and Jared’s bond - it made my toes curl.

The author built up the suspense and mystery really well without dragging things out.

Conal was adorable and the connection he had with Lane warmed my heart.

I’m not sure if this book is part of a series because there were several things that were left up in the air.

There were a whole lot of things that I thought were fantastic about this story and a few things that left me with questions. Overall the outcome was a great start to a series that I'm definitely going to revisit when subsequent stories are offered.

Jared is an interesting character that was complicated in a good way. He has a mystery of a back story if you remove the late wife and mother of his biological child. Outside of that we don't learn where he's really from or what his personal goals are. What we do get though, are his motivations, his concern, his care, and his passion. We also get a large amount of denial of his feelings and connection to Lane. This causes confusing moments and reactions that don't leave me wondering in a good way. I get whiplash sometimes and wish he had been a bit more consistent and far less stereotypical in his denials of any kind of feelings toward the other man.

Lane was very similar in this way with his reactions swinging from one extreme to the other. I admired his individual strength and willingness to compromise and see reason when he came to terms with his situation versus his pride. His "other-ness" was also something of a mystery that I'm hoping we get more of as the series continues. I often felt like there were moments of insight that were either disregarded or totally glossed over and would have loved for them to have been developed so Lane could be a character more proactive than reactive. He wasn't a bad MC, just one that was interesting but lacked a bit of spark.

Conall was the best for me. Yes, he was a child, which often bothers me when authors create kids in the single digits yet think and speak like they're in their 30's. Despite his age, his reactions and rationalizations and mannerisms were that of his described age and his childlike simplicity and expressions endeared me to him at the outset. He wasn't a main feature in the story any more than the son of one of the MC's can be, but his presence enriched the telling anyway.

The drama was quite confusing with a leading prologue that didn't seem to have any point at all other than to foreshadow the violence and hatred others have for a big, black alpha wolf. It was intense and intriguing and then never again revisited. There was a whole lot of inter-pack drama that was a big deal in the big council meeting but seemed based on a history that we weren't privy to. Who performed the attacks isn't clear until the very end, but we don't ever get a motive at all besides hatred...but hatred for what? I don't know. This was what kept me from rounding up from 3.5 stars because I just didn't see a clear thread that could adequately weave all the parts together.

Whether this is going to be a series based on the pack, the Wolf society, or Lane and Jared's journey dealing with all of it is as of yet unclear and while I find myself frustrated with the lack of answers, I am interested in finding out what comes next. I am deeply invested in the personal growth of both Jared and Lane and am eager for more despite my many, many questions. So I suppose this was a truly effective story based on that yearning alone.

This is a new to me author and I must say that the first book in this series is off to a pretty decent start. The only problem for me with this book was its flow. There were a few times where you had to connect the pieces yourself. For instance, the prologue kicks off the story but there was little to no follow up in the subsequent chapters leaving the reader to sort of piece together and speculate the who and what of it all. You do eventually figure out who the people were in the prologue of the story were, but you just sort of have to piece it together and guess as the story progresses. And even then, you not really sure if it’s right. There flow of the story wasn’t consistent; it lags and the events are a bit choppy in some parts. However, this didn’t take away from my enjoyment of it.

The characters were wonderful. I absolutely loved how the author included the trans and non-binary characters in the story. It wasn’t forced or filled with stereotypes. There were no stunts and shows; their entries were seamless and very well written. Lucky and Aeron actually stole the show for me; they were my favorite characters in the book.

I really liked Jared and Lane’s character. Even though they were the MCs, I felt like I only got bits and pieces of their pasts. I really would’ve liked to have gotten a bit more of their back stories as I felt like you don’t get to know their characters very well. You get flashes of past events, memories here and there and that made the flow a bit choppy.

The storyline was really very good; I enjoyed it quite a bit, actually. It’s been a while since I read anything in paranormal genre and this book was lovely way for me to get back into it. The author managed to do a really great job of creating a world with these wonderful magical beings.

I absolutely enjoyed the book overall. The presentation (cover and editing) were excellent. The flow could be better but that doesn’t take away from how well written and how well thought out the characters were. The ending also sets up perfectly for the next book in the series.

All in all, the book turned out rather nicely and was a great start to what looks like will be a lovely series. One that I am really looking forward to reading.

"Protecting His Pack" is the first volume of "North American Wolves" series by Morgan Elektra and at the same time the first novel written by this author I've read. That's why I didn't really know what to expect in terms of her style, the way she tells her stories and, what I consider most importantly, creates her world. Therefore, I have to mention the universe of the series, as it is undoubtedly vast, rich and goes far beyond the content of the first volume. However, the author presents the world of her series rather hesitantly and slowly, so here and there we see its more or less clear outline, but we are not able yet to form a full image of it in our heads. As we learn the story that Morgan Elektra tells us in "Protecting His Pack," we collect small jigsaw puzzles of the universe that we try to put together from the beginning of the story. However, the first volume doesn't give us the opportunity to complete this "project", so we undoubtedly have to read the next volumes of the series as soon as they are available.

To be honest, in "Protecting His Pack" Morgan Elektra managed to please me completely with a motif of a pack consisting of stray and chosen/found family. I liked this subject all the more because some of the wolves who joined Jared's pack were people who really needed some kindness in their life, someone who would accept them as they are. I have always had a weakness for this theme, and the author presented it in a really good way.

The big advantage of "Protecting His Pack" are the characters, both main and secondary ones. They are very interesting, expressive and different from each other in terms of skin color, sexual orientation and gender. I really enjoy it. I think that the way the author approaches all these differences between people is also fantastic, because her protagonists simply accept all those differences without thinking about them too much and treat them as something completely normal, and in some way unique. Thus, between the lines it is emphasized that the true value of man hides in who they are, and not in how they differ from the majority of people.

In summary, "Protecting His Pack" is a very interesting, emotional novel that is really worth reading. What's more, we quickly fall in love with the characters, while their story engrosses us completely. Thanks to all this, after reading this part we really want to stay in the world of this series for longer.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I started reading this, the blurb intrigued me but didn't give much away. I also haven't read anything by Morgan prior to this book, so I was unsure If I was going to like their writing style. Well, you know what? I did!

Once I started reading this I was blown away be the attention to detail! That mall scene was so well depicted, you could practically feel the chas coming through the book. And those first few opening chapters gave us our first peeks at Conall's adorable self, along with his dad, Jared, and Lane. Along the way, we also go introduced to even more characters! This book was not lacking with the side characters, and while some might say there were too many, I think the amount of characters helped add depth to the storyline. After all, it's not really a 'pack' if you don't have a lot of people apart of it.

Something I do want to mention is I was very confused by the constant changes in points of view. There weren't really any indication who's perspective we were reading before we started a chapter, and sometimes the point of view would change in the middle of a chapter. And while I appreciate getting different characters view points, I wish it was less confusing.

Despite that though I really did enjoy this story, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading this. I wanted to know what was going to happen to Lane, Jared, Lucky, and Conall. I was happy when the two MC's finally worked through their anger and talked with one another. It was sweet how Lane wouldn't back down from Jared. All of the kids that were apart of the story added such an overall sweetness to the book.

Something I loved is how many scenes there were of the Wolves being in their shifted form. I loved that! I loved how at the back of the book the aurgir gave you a dictionary explaining all of the words that were used, and the meaning of them. I thought that was cool. This author wasn't just writing a book, they were creating a whole world.

I do want to point out that this ends with a HFN, Not an HEA. Which I wasn't aware of until I finished the book myself. But it's still really good though! I just have some questions that were left unanswered.

Overall a great story!

Jared is not your regular Alpha pack leader, he’s a kind reasonable leader, who wants the best for his small pack, the Telikos Clade. He’s a widower with a son. Meeting the human teacher complicates his life drastically.
This human can never know they are a pack of wolf shifters.

Lane started a new life, a new job as a teacher, in a new city. Leaving his controlling and cheating boyfriend behind.
When Lane got involved with Jared and his young son Conall, life gets harder for him. He got attacked by a creature who changed from a human into a furry vicious animal.
Turning to Jared for an explanation makes it even harder. Jared wants him under his protection, but Lane has enough of controlling men.

Living with Jared and his pack members was way more comfortable than Lane could imagine.
They accepted him as if he was pack.

The attraction between Jared and Lane is palpable, and that’s another complication.
The Council wouldn’t aloud a human and a wolf.
Jared is over his head with all his feelings for Lane, he’s not just a simple regular human being, there’s so much more to him.
They will have to face the Counsil and Sylvain Montgomery the Alpha of Alphas. Behold his story and the powerful dynamic of pack and their rank status.

What a beautiful read this was!! There are so many precious moments, be still my heart!!
The characters are richly developed, just like the whole story was, nothing superficial to find, everything is beautifully pictured.
The soul/mind-searching was breathtakingly intense. The magic hanging around both men was, gosh, I can’t find the right words, it was overwhelming, I felt it, so so intense. The LGBTQ+ presentation was fully and wonderfully present.
There’s only one right rating for this story: all the stars!

Protecting his Pack has an interesting set up and pack social structure, with Jared abandoning his original pack and starting his own of ‘misfits’ for lack of a better term. Lane comes into his life when his son Connall approaches him at the mall. They both instantly notice their attraction for one another but stubbornly don’t want to act on it for different reasons. Add in some political intrigue (read as two wolves who just want to kill Jared but for different reasons) and a ‘human’ who just found out that shape shifting wolves exist, and all of a sudden Lane is in danger and Jared is ready to save the day much to Lane’s dismay.

The most frustrating aspect of the book for me is when the POV switches mid chapter with no obvious page break. This is my biggest pet peeve and really pulls me out of the moment while reading.

The world that Morgan Elektra is setting up sounds fascinating and has plenty of room for growth, but the terminology became tedious.

I largely skipped over Sylvain and Alec’s chapters. I didn’t feel the gore or SA in these chapters added any value to the book. If we as the reader needed to know these two were terrible people, I felt it could have been done a different way. I’m not averse to dark books, but these chapters were so night and day to the rest of the book that it felt out of place. Also I don’t care that Sylvain is attracted to some hunter. He’s an a**hole.

All in all, this was a pretty good story, but I will likely not read another in the series.

I received an ARC from GRR in exchange for my honest review.

Independent reviewer for GRR I was gifted my copy of this book.

I ususally write a bit of a blurby bit, but for this one, I can't. Why? No idea, but I've deleted what I wrote three times, so nuh-uh, not gonna.

What I especially loved about this was that the clues are there, there are hints dropped and hell, even massive bombs dropped, but still you can't quite figure out what Lane is! No human, but what exactly, not even Jared can figure out. Conall, Jared's son, he knows Lane will be good for Jared, and Jared needs to see that.

I liked that it takes time for Jared and Lane to build their relationship. It's a bit of a slow burn and at one point I wasn't even sure they would get to the main event, but they do and it is glorious!

There is a wider story arc too that will probably run for several books, cos there is a LOT to unpack, not just about Lane but about what's going on in the big wide shifter world. And I can't wait!

It's steamy and smexy, but equally, dark and deadly; dramatic and emotional. Lots of supporting characters with interesting tales to tell, I'm sure.

It's a bit of a HFN ending for Lane and Jared. Much more to come and I can't wait to read it! First I've read of this author, and I really enjoyed it!

I’m not sure if this is the first of what will be a series but I certainly hope so! This book was a refreshing take on werewolves and the supernatural. I appreciated the use of new terms to denote rank and hierarchy (Alpha is still used of course but the overdone Beta, Omega, etc. are absent). Lane and Jared made a great couple and had plenty of chemistry. I especially liked Lane’s character with him being a school teacher and having a close bond with Jared’s son, Conall.

While most of the story is wrapped up by the end there are still some aspects of the mystery left unsolved. I hope we get more books in the future that tell us a bit about Lane’s past/family and hopefully we’ll get a bit more about the other creatures living in this world. Speaking of, the world-building in this story was good but it would’ve been helpful if the glossary, which can be found at the end, was put before the prologue. I didn’t even realize a glossary was in this book and I definitely needed it at times. So while I love that it exists, I wish the author had put it first rather than last so I could get a better handle on some of the terms. But overall I understood everything by the end and really enjoyed the plot and characters!

Lane is a teacher who discovers Wolves aren’t just a story. Jared is the Alpha of his small Clade. They meet thanks to Jared’s young sons unbridled curiosity. They are pulled to each other not really understanding the draw.

I really liked this book. The world building could of been a bit deeper but as always with the first book in a series I’ll give some leeway. Lots of interesting personalities. The young of Jared’s Clade came across as acting age appropriate without too much cutesy. Even those that I considered “bad guys” added a lot to the overall arc of the story. I think some of them will have very interesting stories of their own.

This was a romance so of course there was steamy times. Also because of the romance I knew there would surely be a happy ending but I thought the author did very well with the suspense throughout. There was enough action (and even portents) that kept the story flowing.

I’m always up for reading something different. The mythology in this book certainly had that. I did spend some time trying to look up words or phrases that I didn’t understand and wasn’t always successful. I didn’t realize there was a glossary at the end that explained a lot about the Clades.

Lane leaves an abusive ex and moves to a small town for a teaching job. While out shopping he meets a child, Conall, who is a bit odd. He stays with him until his father finds him. And when Lane meets Jared, everything changes. Conall seems to imprint on Lane and manages to sneak into his car after school. He quickly returns the child to his father who invites Jared to dinner. Jared's pack like Lane a lot. When Lane is attacked at school by another wolf he decides to stay with Jared while it gets figured out. While staying there he finds how easily he fits into both the pack and Jared's life. They make some interesting discoveries and it gets dramatic really fast but ends pretty satisfying.

I am hoping there are more books following Jared and Liam. It was a good book but it did get dramatic fast and it was close to instalove which is not something I am a big fan of. I did like the characters and Conall was adorable. The pack was diverse including a trans sister. There were some loose ends which is because I'm assuming there will be other books. Overall, a nice series start by a new to me author i will be looking forward to what happens next in this series.

This is a new author to me & I will admit that I absolutely enjoyed reading this delightful slow-burn MM shifter romance. The characters are well-developed & have good chemistry between them but are inclined to be quite stubborn. There is some good support from the secondary characters. The well-paced plot is interesting & there is a good scene descriptions & world building.
There is: a alpha wolf shifter (Jared) with some pack issues & personal problems comes into contact with a rather outspoken apparently human male teacher (Lane) & these two try to the best of their abilities to ignore each other but fate has plans in store for them, Jared’s precocious son (Conall), wolf shifters, a rogue, witches, unseen, a council, drama, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, secrets, mystery, magic, unexpected surprises, danger, threats, attacks, some violence, injuries, meetings, compromises, attractions, dreams. Friendship, disagreements, confrontations, some steam, contentment, true mates & a satisfying conclusion.

Great world building and fun supporting characters! Lane, was in a reflective mood when he first met Jared and his adorable son, Conall. Jared, is a widower who still misses his wife, Neve. She was his best friend, his balance. The fact that he kept his bisexuality under wraps is not something he focuses much on. Meeting Lane, stirred him up a bit. He found Lane just as intriguing as Lane found him. They were deeply attracted to each other and didn't understand, why. Enemies of Jared present a clear and present danger to Lane, who is human. Lane is forced to confront a reality he's not expecting. This is a great story with secrets, great supportive characters in the good guy's group and really bad creeps in the bad guy'ss group. Will Jared find the answers to what's unfolding, in time? Does Lane undstand the nuances of the new world? Can Lane be saved from the 'rules'? Great story. Nice flow, good world building, exciting. Well done! I received an ARC and am volunteerily leaving a review.

3.5☆ really... the first book Ive read by Morgan Elektra.

Im not quite sure what to make of this story.. Lane, a human teacher is approached by Connall, a young Wolf. He clearly trusts Lane.... and like that, Lanes life is thrown in chaos.
Jared is the Wolf pack Alpha, but hes reluctant, after leaving his birth pack, then losing his wife, (we know she passed, but not how). Jared finds himself attracted to the human.

Despite numerous attempts on his life, Lane finally begins to trust Jared (but didnt explain why he tried to keep him at arms length).... not easy after his 6 year relationship went up in flames.. there were some things that could have done with better explaination.
Not a bad story. But I think some things were missed

The glossary would have been better at the start of the book
