Alexis:

I used to be an artist and rarely got into trouble, but everything changed after my parents died.

After that, I became a girl with dark, painful secrets. I became a girl who spends most of her time spray painting her broken soul onto the side of buildings, refusing to feel anything, and not thinking about the consequences. And now I'm probably going to pay for it because someone has discovered my secret.

The only way out of it is to figure out who knows what I did. That's where West comes in.

West used to be my sworn enemy, but now I'm not sure what he is. Cocky? Yes. A huge flirt? Definitely. But he's also offered to help me track down my blackmailer. And I think we might be starting to become friends. Well, if kissing a friend can make your soul feel like it's shattering. I'm honestly not sure I can handle it. I can barely handle anything anymore. And it probably doesn't even matter. With the blackmailer digging up secrets on me, I'll more than likely end up behind bars. Or worse, completely broken.

West:

I've been in love with Alexis for a while. This beautiful, wild, broken girl; I've wanted her for so long.
After her parents died, she changed, shut down, put up a wall. And I want to help her, but she hasn't given me the time of day.

Until now.

I'm going to track down this blackmailer and make them pay. I just hope I can keep my own life together in the process.

This is parts 1 & 2 of Signed with a Kiss and is a full-length novel. This is book 1 in a coming of age mystery romance series and book 2, Sealed with a Promise, will release on Feb. 25, 2020.

Needing an edgy angsty YA to read? This book was a little confusing at first as it jumps into Alexis hanging with her friend Maisie when her crush comes over. Alexis's personality changed after her parents died in a car crash and we have flashbacks to an incident that happened at school where we assume that Jay sexually assaulted her. None of her friends or family know about the assault - I do have to admit that Alexis should have told someone - at least her best friend Maisie. In this series, she has kept it quiet and her world starts to shut down as she becomes an angry person who acts like she hasn't got a care in the world. When she catches her best friend kissing her crush, she freaks and runs away. While she is running away, she comes across West who is her arch-frenemy. West has a secret though as well, he is in love with Alexis and has a crappy family life. Both Alexis and West have dark secrets that if they are revealed, they could ruin both of their families' lives. What happens though when Alexis gets an unknown text and someone is blackmailing her about her Banksy art which she signs off as "signed with a kiss". I have to admit this book was probably one of my least favorites by Jessica Sorensen as I hated the character, Alexis, as she seems like a closed-off brat and I am in two minds now to continue with the series. Signed with a Kiss (Books 1-2) was a borderline 3Ps rating.

Signed With A Kiss in Jessica Sorensen's newest release. I have always been a fan of Sorensen's books. She is able to suck you into the story so easily with her characters and a plot that matches those characters.

While I enjoyed this book, the characters and I can see how well Sorensen sets the tone for this series (or duet possibly), it is the abrupt ending that killed this book for me.

Sorensen does a great job of developing the plot and adding in just the right elements to add the bit of mystery into the plot. There is a lot going on and at times I was confused if they were in high school or college, but you can tell by their interactions that this very much a YA story.

I was easily sucked into the story because the characters were enjoyable and Sorensen's writing keeps you intrigued as to where the story is going. But then the end happens. Just like that. No cliffhanger, no wrap up, no end trail of what tp expect next. IT JUST ENDS. I almost thought that maybe I didn't download the whole book, but I did. And that really hurt the book for me. Plus add in how short the book is, this ending was even more disappointing.

Will I read the next book? Absolutely. I do want to know what happens next. But I do want readers to know that this book does end abruptly and while you are left wanting more, you are also left scratching your head wondering if you missed a part. As for a star rating, I am right down the middle on this one, leaning a tad to the lower end on the rating scale due to the abrupt ending and how short the book is.

Ok so yes its pretty short and yes it just ends without warning but i really enjoyed the book !!

This has all the promise of another hit series by Jessica with a brilliant set of characters and a slow burn love story set to make anyone scream at their kindle with a fab touch of mystery!!

Looking forward to see how the story progresses.

Jessica does it again! I have to say, I've read most of her books and some recently haven't grabbed me like her older stuff (breathing lies excluded-that's brilliant!), but this has that magic touch of hers.
Alexis is a troubled girl, losing herself in the darkness of grief and trauma. The betrayal of her two best friends adds to the problems that stack up. Blaine is clearly an idiot and Maisey doesn't seem like a nice friend, so she's better off really. Then there's West...he seems like he may be her light, although she doesn't see it, but he has issues at home and is just as dark as Lex is inside. I'm guessing they can save each other.
I'm looking forward to the next book to see how it all unfolds and to find out who the mystery texts are from...intriguing!

I was sent an ARC of this book to read and I was so happy when I received it. I’ve always loved Jessica’s writing and her unique storytelling, she so easily sucks you into the plot and characters, and I love that.

This book deals with quite a few heavy topics, but the way they’re addressed is good. Alexis was a character that I liked but also got annoyed by (just by little things she did!) and West was a total sweetheart with trying to help Alexis out whilst also facing his own problems.

I highly recommend this book, it’s got the right amount of mystery and romance and it definitely gets you hooked. I like many others who read the book found the ending quite abrupt, but knowing I’ll get all the answers from the next book makes it worth the read :)

I loved this book! It was filled with teenage drama and laughable moments only available in YA books. The plot starts off with Alexis' best friend making out with her crush and the end of a friendship while West, her former friend, swoops in to save the day. They begin to fake date to show Blaine and Masie that she is over him but West has ulterior motives as he has been in love with Alexis for years. While following the story of her overcoming teenage drama Alexis is sent secretive messages blackmailing her about her parents deaths. This story is the perfect mixture of fun, mystery and suspense.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for either a school romance or mystery YA.

I read this book already, just under the title The Breaking of Alexis. So good luck trying to find the second book because I’ve looked through all of Jessica’s books. I don’t get why the title keeps changing with the same blurb.

I’m just putting up this review so I’ll know I read this already with a different title and not to buy the book again.

I received this as an ARC and I M
Voluntarily leaving this review.

I want sure what to expect from this book but wow I was hooked from start to finish read it in one long sitting. How can two very broken people have so much chemistry and not realise it. I feel for the pain of Alexis and West and of what we find out at the end of that book is true the next one is going to be just as highly addictive. This is a 5⭐️ recommended read.

It’s never easy losing a parent, but it is harder to navigate the perils of teenage drama without the guidance of either of the ones you hold dear. Everything in Alexis’ life is upside down after the loss of her parents. With a brother who is now her guardian, Alexis finds herself on the outside looking in where her family is concerned. The only constant in her life are the individuals that Alexis calls her friends.

Blaine and Masie are the constant that Alexis depends upon. The trio has been friends forever, but Alexis had kept secrets that neither knows about. With a crush on Blaine always swirling under the surface, Alexis will quickly discover that this friendship is about to blow up in her face. With no one else to turn towards, Alexis finds herself seeking refuge in the most unlikely place. Will the secrets that Alexis has kept hidden be the catalyst that results in her life unraveling?

Signed With A Kiss is the latest rerelease from author Jessica Sorensen. It follows Alexis through the struggles of teenage life. Not only does Alexis find herself struggling with the fact that she is in the midst of a betrayal, she also is harboring the after effects of a trauma that no one knows about. The secrets that Alexis manages to keep only deepen the despair that her family finds themselves within, especially after Alexis’ deeds are revealed.

What I found in Signed With a Kiss was the beginnings of a story that has a lot of plot laid out. There is a bit of a mystery lurking beneath the pages as well. While I am a huge fan of Sorensen’s, the story fell quite a bit flat for me. The rewrite was designed to enhance the series, but I found myself scratching my head when arriving at the end of the book. There is a DRASTIC and abrupt ending to the story.

Literally – the story randomly stops at a point in the story where you are dumbfounded. It’s not a cliff hanger or end of a scene. There is no wrapping up of the contents of that chapter, it literally just STOPS. I know that Sorensen pushes out a LOT of writing in a calendar year, but this is definitely not the type of thing I expect to encounter in any reading material. There is no conclusion, finality or continuation…..just an abrupt stop to a story that doesn’t have the pull one would expect after that many chapters. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement….

REVIEW:

I received an Arc copy for a honest review.

The characters Alexis and Wes, and the supporting characters, have a huge love triangle going on. Just like what goes down in High School. Ah, the memories, this book brings back. You have Wes who in love with Alexis, Alexis who is love with Wes's BFF, Blaine, and Blaine who is dating Alexis"s BFF, Masie. When Alexis, finds out her two best friends are dating, she turns to West, with this new information and her past tragedies, that she can't move on from. Lex is emotionally shut off, and the only way she can control her emotions is by expressing herself, through her graffiti. Wes is trying to help support Lex, but he is dealing with issues at home, of the worst kind. Wes also keeps his secrets near and dear, Lex knows some, but not how bad they actually are. Will these two start helping each other or will everything start blowing up in their faces?

This was a quick and easy read. The first installment in the Signed with a Kiss Series was a nice introduction to Alexis and Wes. I find this first book, was to put all the pieces together to, basically wait until things hit the fan. I’m really excited to see where this story goes. This is a YA book. I would definitely, let younger adults read this without concern for to much adult themes.

Great read!

Jessica has a way of sucking you right in her stories. She is really a great writer! And this book is like all her others, this story is so good, but so different too. Different story line and different character personalities. You feel all the emotions in her characters that make your heart hurt and cry for them. The only issue that drives me nuts is how short her books are and how long you have to wait for the next one in the series. I think it's because she right so many books at once and I wish she would slow down and just focus on one series at a time. It literally drives me nuts that avoided her shorts books all together. But I also cant help but seeing what books she has and it's long enough to be worth reading. Like I said she is really good writing stories that suck you in and I cant help going back to her to see what she has to read. And this story is definitely worth reading! I just wish we didnt have to wait so long for the next one in the series!

This book here is why I love reading Jessica's writing. It deals with the dark emotions and minds of troubled teenagers while throwing in some lighthearted and moving moments.
Alexis is a mystery to herself, she can't process losing her parents in a car crash and seems to be in a void emotionally. The only outlet she has is graffiti, but that only gets her in trouble, and when her two best friends betray her, she breaks. Meanwhile, West is madly in love with her and has to keep up the lie that he's her frenemy, all while trying not to kiss her and keep his head above water with his own problems. This alone was enough of a plotline, but Jessica (being an amazing writer) threw in the added mystery of a blackmailer/stalker. I couldn't put it down, I had to know how it all unfolded. You'll feel the same if you give it a chance! I'm itching to get my hands on the next book!

Absolutely loved this book, but i need more. Jessica sorensen has done it again.
Alexis and West are in trouble yet they don't know it yet. both forcing themselves not to be friends although they both know there is more to this story.
Alexis is a strong female who has had a tough life, her parents died leaving her alone with her siblings, Cruel boys at school and to top it off her best friends have lied to her leaving West as the only person in her life, whether she wants him or not.
love this book. Brilliant read.

FAB! absolutely loved this book but I need more. Jessica Sorensen has done it again. I just love her books.
Alexis is a strong female who has had a tough life, her parents have died leaving her alone with her siblings, cruel boys at school and to top it off her best friends have lied to her. Leaving her with West the person she loves to hate as her only friend...ish person.
This book is well written and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

I’m about 68% of the way through this book. I love this author’s writing. The storyline is great. Emotional, raw, great character development. However there are so many grammatical errors it is really distracting from the story. I would love I see this book re-edited and re-released. For now I can’t give it more than 3 stars because all of the errors keep pulling me out of the story and make it hard to finish it.
