When aliens invade the Earth the heroes and villains must do the unthinkable, team up. More dungeon building and empire building thrills against a new and more powerful enemy. Walter and the team must grow stronger, acquire more resources and alliances, and seize opportunity when it presents itself.
So this story was a fairly engaging read, overall it is entertaining if a little stereotypical. The team doesn't seem to be able to do anything right ever, they pull off a heist flawlessly and it blows up in their face in the end, fine they are villains. However the thing that started to bug we about halfway through this book was how all the other AIs seem to be better than the MC,.the MC comes across as a human compared to the other AIs.
The other problem is that the last 15% of this book is rushed and reads like a synopsis, and sadly it is the thing you will remember the most about this book.
Where do I begin? The concept and story was interesting and did keep me engaged. However I felt like the ending was wrapped up way too quickly. Definitely more world building / exploration compared to the first book but I felt like it just didn’t quite hit the mark I was wanting it to. I wish the ending would’ve been expanded on and there was more character development. The development was skimmed over in my opinion.
This one is strange. The characters are recognizable as the characters in the previous book, with a few excellent additions like Bouncy, but they've been changed subtly between volumes.
The plot is scaled up, but burns several resources leaving the survivors worse off.
Proofreading remains a problem, with some sentences unintelligible.
Good performance. A slip here or there on editing but so minor I might just be too picky. I enjoyed the story. Not an epic sci-fi but wasn't meant to be. If you're between your favorites and need something to listen to or read this is worth your time. It's no classic but it holds its own.
