Bad thoughts are sticky! Our brains naturally see them more and remember them longer.
But, as Aria learns in Sticky Brains, she has brain-changing powers (you do too)! She sees that her brain sometimes shows her only part of the picture. So she doesn't have to feel bad about feeling bad! And she can make good thoughts stick too, just by paying attention in a new way.
Sticky Brains teaches kids all about the negativity bias and neuroplasticity in an accessible, friendly manner.
The book includes additional information on mindfulness, negativity bias, and neuroplasticity as well as activities and exercises for children and their families.

I won this as a Goodreads give away. I was hoping to win a copy for my son. I was thrilled when it showed up (with Sticky Brain Stickers!). he has anxiety and pandemic spring/summer has been hard on him. The book was a great read, and I see me pulling it out often to remind him to change his brain and look at the good.
Thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What comes to mind at first is the playful way this book is written. Some words and letters get a colour that match the page, or they are bigger. The pictures are square and round, happy and sad and everything on the page matches with that. It's very creative in my opinion.
Unique book dealing with the issue of helping children focus on their positive thoughts instead of their negative ones. . The author does an excellent job of presenting the ideas in a way that is easy to understand. The illustrations are wonderful and really support the message. The font is also nicely done in different colors and sizes, which really keep the readers attention. Teaching children to be mindful of all of their surroundings. See the good everywhere, and they can actually train their brain to think positive.
This is a fun, smart book for people of all ages who tend to get stuck on bad things and forget the good. As someone who is new to the topic of mindfulness, this was really helpful! If I had kids, I’d definitely read this to them.
A wonderful book that not only provides tools to help children guide themselves through negative feelings but entertains with its funny narrative and fantastic illustrations. A must on any kids bookshelf.
A must have for every child - and for their parents. This book will help all deal with negative feelings, especially important in our present environment.
This is a great book for little people and big people alike! We all need to breath, focus on the good, and let the bad things drift away.... Thank you for this book, Nicole and Cam!
Written by one of my favorite mindfulness authors, Sticky Brains is a staple for guiding both youth and adults through the frustrations of getting to know your brain and which thoughts are "sticky"
