The Rooftop Crew #6

A Co-Worker's Crush

Rate this book
Three tattoo guns.
Five motorcycle tires.
Countless T-shirts.

That’s what I lost before I realized nothing good comes from dating my co-workers.

Usually, I don’t have much self-control. So, the fact that Frankie Grant is a hot, talented tattoo artist means it’s a damn miracle she hasn’t already been in my bed. But nothing can happen between us because Frankie comes with Jolie, her young daughter, and a crap load of baggage from her ex. And those are two things I never entertain.

Anyone who knows me—the screwed up foster kid from the wrong side of the tracks—knows I’m not the guy you take home to meet your parents, let alone your kid. But I also know what it’s like not to have parents, so things get complicated when Jolie asks me to be her daddy.

I might as well just slash my own tires now.

I’m finishing out 2020, the worst year, with a five star read... now that’s the way to end the year and the series!

I have been enjoying this series, as I do with all of Piper Rayne's books, this group of friends is a bit reminiscent of the TV show FRIENDS where you have a group of friends that are so close they are like family. This is Jax and Frankie's story....one that I have been waiting for, for a while. Jax and Frankie work together Dylan's tattoo parlor and they bicker like crazy but in all honesty it's a form of foreplay for the two of them because they have amazing chemistry.

Ever since Jax came stomping onto the scene I have been wanting his story. He was such a broken little cookie with such a soft and sweet centre I just knew his story needed to be awesome. Then when he started butting heads with Frankie and we all felt those sparks shooting off everywhere I was even more thrilled.

However, the teaser at the end of the last book had me almost holding my breath waiting for this book. Because as adorable as Jolie is she has everyone wrapped around her little fingers. And as much as I wanted her to get her Christmas wish, man did it feel like we were still a fair way off that with Jax and Frankie.

Now if this is your first introduction to The Rooftop Crew, that's cool, you can read safely this as a standalone. However I strongly recommend you read this in order just to get the full effect. Not because it's necessary.

With that said I can't believe it's over. Although knowing piper Rayne we will probably get a novella sometime soon. But if we don't I guess I can manage; I mean we were just promised hockey hotties and I am absolutely there for that. So, I best go update my TBR mountain. Kisses.

This was the low angst, adorable ending that I wanted for this series, delivering in a big way. I've been eagerly anticipating Jax and Frankie's book since they were first on the page together, and while I wasn't sure I was loving this at the beginning - I just pictured it going a different way - I was completely won over by the end. It's light, cute, sexy, and the kind of quick, easy read you can devour in one sitting. Which I definitely did. And though this will kinda, sorta read as a standalone, those who have been following the series from the start will get the most out of it.

The story follows Jax, a tattoo artist who has seen everyone else in his group of friends fall in love and enter committed relationships. Though he's happy for his friends, Jax believes that his experiences as a foster kid have messed him up too much to find his own happily ever after - so he's not looking for one. But when the daughter of his infuriating (and endlessly sexy) co-worker asks Santa for him as a dad, well, things get complicated. Jax and Frankie's bickering has long felt like foreplay, and adding her daughter into the mix makes things feel decidedly domestic.

This has been a very solid series, but the two brooding bad boys, Jax and Dylan, have always been my favorites. I've slowly been falling for Jax and Frankie over the course of the series, so I was invested in this love story before it even got started. So, I can't honestly say how this would read as a standalone - we don't see any of the bickering, there's already a decent connection when this gets started, and a lot of it has to do with the family element. But those who have been along for the ride are sure to love this. It's got the light, sexy feel that I love from this writing duo, paired with a story that's heartfelt but not heavy. It doesn't dig all that deep, but that's not what I'm looking for from this series. This is quick, sexy romance with the sweetest happily ever after. A great ending for this friend group. I received an early copy via Wildfire Marketing, and am voluntarily leaving a review of this frenemies to lovers romance.

I’m sad this is the last book from the Rooftop Crew, it’s been such a fabulous series about this group of friends who all found their happily ever afters in different ways. Piper Rayne ended it with a bang though, as Jax and Frankie go from enemies and co-workers to so much more.

Jax is the playboy star tattoo artist, who doesn’t like commitment after growing up in the system. His co-worker Frankie, another tattoo artist and single mother, strongly dislikes him, and they bicker constantly, even with their underlying attraction. But Jax is so good with Frankie’s daughter Jolie, though Frankie is scared of the attachment her daughter will form if they get too close. One night, after a few drinks, they both show vulnerability and give into the attraction. They agree it’s a one-off thing, but soon they can’t deny their feelings, even if it means keeping things a secret from their friends and Jolie until they know it’s going somewhere. Everything changes when Jolie asks Santa for one thing, for Jax to be her dad. Will Jax be able to get over his fear of commitment and be there for Frankie and Jolie?

Jax was such a swoon worthy hero, I loved his character growth, not only throughout this book but the whole series. He really matured and grew from a troubled boy into a man who knew what he wanted in life and what made him happy. His affection for Jolie was so strong from the start, but it was his caring and love for Frankie that showed how much he had changed. Frankie had been hurt badly by her ex and was scared of the uncertainty of the future, but Jax showed her she could lean on others, and although she could fight her own battles, it was nice to have someone in her corner who would fight along side her. Jolie was such a scene stealer; she was so cute and had every character wrapped around her little finger!

This whole series has been so great, and Jax and Frankie’s story was the perfect end to the Rooftop Crew, leaving them all happy and loved up! You need to read this series if you haven’t already!

Hold onto your hearts folks, Jax is going to steal them before you know what's hit you!
Like I do most things in life, I'm reading this series completely backwards and this was my first time with The Rooftop Crew and now I have to continue my backwards journey through the rest of the series because I am officially addicted!
Piper Rayne hits you with an enemies-to-lovers that has so much heat, sweet, and fantastic banter you become hooked the second you start reading. Even as "enemies" Frankie and Jax have chemistry in spades. You can feel the sparks zapping between them on every page just waiting for the explosion to hit, and hit it does!

A Co-Worker’s Crush was the sixth and final book in the Rooftop Crew series by the authors Piper Rayne. For full enjoyment, the series should be read in order.

I loved this series and hate to see it end. All the books were great but this was my favorite. I’m totally in love with Jax, Frankie and Jolie - but I was in love long before this book came into existence.

Jax was the third childhood friend to round out the foster siblings of Dylan (Rival Roomies, book three), Knox (The Do-Over, book five) and Jax. They grew up with difficult lives within the foster care system and Jax appeared to be the most lost and detached from relationships. He was the runner and wanderer and had built a reputation and large following as a tattoo artist that had traveled around but finally made his way back to Clifton Heights and Ink Envy (Dylan’s Tattoo Shop). He was also loyal to a fault to those he cared about.

Frankie was a single mom to five year old Jolie, and we learned in earlier books that she had been married to an abusive addict. She was a skilled tattoo artist at Ink Envy and called the Rooftop Crew family.

Jax and Frankie had fireworks immediately upon their first meeting, although they saw it as an instant dislike of one another. In reality, they had hilarious bantering with sexual tension. In the end, they both had long journeys to take before having the ability to engage in a committed relationship. It was a journey I enjoyed taking with them. And add in Jolie, a precious five year old that stole the show, and the mix was perfection.

I’m sad to see the series end; however, the authors introduced us to Frankie’s cousin, Adrian, an NHL star, so the spinoff series Hockey Hotties has been born. Adrian is up first in My Lucky #13 with promises of cameos from the Rooftop Crew and I can’t wait!

I think this book was the perfect ending to this series. Plus I think it was only fitting that they saved Jax & Frankie for last. We got to watch that simmering sexual tension grow throughout the series & fall even more in love with little Jolie. She really made this book even more special, I loved how much she believed in everything, & how she named everything.

Even though this book had such a sweet aspect to it, it was of course hot as hell. Sexy in a way that can only be Jax. I’ve been looking forward to his book since we met him. He didn’t let me down & I think he topped the other guys & became my favourite. There is just something about a badass hottie with a sweet & loving connection with Jolie that gets me. It wasn’t only the relationship between Jax & Frankie that made this book so great but also between the three of them. Plus getting to see the other couples. I love that Piper & Rayne always make sure to give us lots of scenes with past couples.

I’m going to miss the rooftop crew but could not be more excited for their new hockey series. Once again they’ve created an amazing world that I’m going to miss but can’t wait to jump into the next amazing world they are going to bring us.

A Co-Worker’s Crush revved my heart like a Harley on a hot day 🏍️🔥💘

It’s got ink, angst, and a swoony bad boy with a soft spot the size of Texas—especially when a tiny human starts calling him daddy 😭🖤👧

Frankie’s a fierce mama with major walls, and our tatted-up hero? A walking red flag turned golden retriever once feelings get involved. The chemistry? Off the charts. The drama? Delicious. The emotional damage? Worth it. 😵‍💫💥💋

Add in workplace tension, found family feels, and some absolutely adorable mom-kid moments, and you’ve got another Piper Rayne gem that’ll tattoo itself on your heart. 🖊️❤️📚

Piper Rayne saved the best for last! I have been waiting for this story ever since Jax joined The Rooftop Crew and Piper Rayne delivered one heck of a story!

Jax and Frankie both work at Ink Envy with their friend Dylan. Ever since Jax showed up to work there, he and Frankie have been at odds.

Jax is a commitment-phobe and Frankie is a single mom. Can we say opposites?

This story really gets good when Frankie reads her daughter Jolie's letter to Santa. From there on, it's filled with fun banter, adorable moments, steamy scenes and one incredibly emotional chapter that had me balling.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. Each story was great! And like Piper Rayne's other series, they will introduce you to their next series that is lightly linked to this one.

5 Star Review A Co-Worker’s Crush (The Rooftop Crew #6 ) by Piper Rayne

This is book 6 in the latest series from Piper Rayne and is my favourite book in the series so far. From the first chapter I was absolutely captivated with the story that Piper Rayne wove about Jax and Frankie.

This is an enemies to lover’s story that ticked all the boxes for me. The chemistry between Jax and Frankie is impossible to ignore. Their story is steamy, funny and the banter was witty and I had a hard time putting this one down.
Trying to deal with his past , the last thing that he needs is a relationship, particularly with single mum, Frankie. I loved the relationship that Jax developed with her daughter, it was heart warming and added an additional layer to the story.

As always it was great to catch up with the other members of The Rooftop Crew.

Awww this was such a sweet and sexy finish to the series! I’ve loved seeing Frankie and Jax banter and antagonize each other in the previous books, but seeing them fall in love was even better!!!

As always, I loved seeing our fave couples in their friend group make their appearances in this book. I really do think that Piper and Rayne excel at flushing out friendships and family dynamics in their stories, and A Co-Worker's Crush shows that perfectly--their group just fits together so, so well, and I really love when friends become found families. :)

I loved getting to know Frankie and Jax better in this one. We've gotten to learn quite a bit about Jax's past in the previous books, but I loved getting inside his head, and Frankie has always kept her distance from the group a bit, so I loved getting to see more of her. She's fierce, strong, and she's one of those people you definitely want on your side--so is Jax for that matter. I also absolutely adored Frankie’s little girl, Jolie! And now that we got to see more of Frankie and Jolie, I also really loved Jolie’s grandma, Sandy. She was so sweet and supportive, and it reminded me of all of the memories I'm grateful for having with my own grandmas. :) I also love seeing Jax with Jolie...sooooo many sweet moments in this one, and that's all I'll say because I think you'll want to experience them yourselves. ;)

Overall, I absolutely adored A Co-Worker's Crush! It’s bittersweet to have this series coming to an end, but I love that this was the story it finished on—much like Frankie, Jax drove me crazy when he first appeared, but he definitely won me over. ;) The tension between this couple has been building so long, and I loved seeing it all come together! This book can definitely be read as a standalone, but I do think you're missing out on some excellent banter and tension from previous books if you start with this one first. ;P I'd recommend A Co-Worker's Crush and the rest of The Rooftop Crew series to readers who love contemporary companion series that are sweet, sexy, funny, and feature amazing friendships and wonderful relationships! ;)

What a perfect ending to the Rooftop Crew series. When readers first got a glimpse of Jax in the Rival Roomies, which happens to be one of my favorites, he almost stole the show from Rian and Dylan! I just knew his HEA was going to be a good story. It was really amazing to see him and Frankie during this one, especially because of the build up in previous books. There’s something really heartwarming about people that have been through really difficult times finding support and care from the people around them. The whole Rooftop Crew takes Frankie and Jolie in, just like they did with Jax when he first appeared on the scene. It’s just a really great group of friends that’s so supporting and loving. I think that is what makes this whole series! The whole crew is just so much fun–even when they mess up, they’re all trying to support each other and push each other in the best way.

One thing I really appreciated about this book specifically is that although both characters have definitely dealt with some trauma, and it’s impacted who they are as adults, there wasn’t a huge overdramatic scene. A lot of times in these types of books, I’m waiting for some huge ridiculous misunderstanding that is going to make me irritated, but that really didn’t happen with this one. It was the perfect amount of mistakes and growth for each character. They’re both just navigating what life has thrown at them, and when things happens towards the ends with Jax, it’s very realistic. The way he handles it all, I admired it, and that’s what makes me really happy. The lack of super-over-the-top drama is what made the story so much better it. It was just very true to the characters and how they’ve grown.

If you can’t tell I’ve absolutely love this series! I tend to love Piper Rayne books in general, but this series just got me! I think it’s just the support that the group offers each other that really won me over. I’m definitely looking forward to Piper Rayne’s Hockey Hotties series and I’m pretty sure we met one of the characters in this book–Frankie‘s cousin Aiden, but we shall see!

A Co-Worker’s Crush is the sixth and final book in The Rooftop Crew Series and is my absolute favourite of the series. Jax and Frankie’s story was so worth the wait! Piper Rayne saved the best for last. I couldn’t put this down from beginning to end.

Frankie is single mom to an adorable little girl Jolie. She absolutely stole my heart at the end of The Do-Over with the declaration she makes in her letter to Santa. Frankie is trying to do right by her after staying too long in a relationship with her father who is a drug addict and abusive.

Jax whom grew up in the foster system thinks he has nothing to offer Frankie and Jolie. He has insecurities he is battling and is a bit of a commitment phobe but underneath he is such a sweet, soft man with a heart of gold. He is protective and his relationship with Jolie was so endearing.

Frankie and Jax have a hate to love relationship. Their verbal sparing is more like foreplay and when they give in to the intense chemistry they share it is fireworks.

The whole Rooftop Crew are a family among friends, and I’ve grown attached to these fictional characters and the love they have found with each other. Jax and Frankie’s story was the perfect story to end it all off.

If you love a good light, steamy read with a ton of heart, heat and laughter this is the book for you! A Co-Worker’s Crush can be read as standalone but I recommend reading this series in order for the full reading experience.

Thoroughly enjoyable, sexy read!

”We have our differences, but I figured that’s how we got along. We take jabs at each other because we like each other.”

Jax Owens grew up in foster care and is happy with his commitment-free lifestyle because he doesn’t believe in love. However, he’s a pretty good guy and is always there for his friends. Frankie Grant is a single mother who’s been disappointed in love but still believes in it. She’s strong, independent and in good control of her life. She’s thankful for the close friendships in her life. Jax and Frankie have always had a love-hate frisson between them. He loves to rile her up and she likes to put him in his place. The one inescapable truth for Frankie, though, is how good Jax is with her little girl. Unfortunately, his affection for Jolie creates a complication that no one saw coming!

”I guess there are pluses to being in a relationship – mainly the fact I won’t have to pretend not to want her every minute of the day.”

This was a fun, hot read with a dash of cuteness. I really admired the way Frankie strived to look after her daughter and do her job. She wasn’t afraid to face difficult questions and do what was right to make Jolie happy. Jax, for all his cockiness and little faith in love, actually really knew how to look after people. I loved the way he tried to bring happiness to both Frankie and Jolie’s lives even before things turned intimate between Frankie and him. I loved that he was willing to give a relationship with Frankie a go, simply because he knew that he just wanted to be with her. For him, I thought this was a huge step. His journey in this story was harder than Frankie’s as he had a lot of baggage to shake off, but I absolutely how the story concluded. The ending was pretty darn swoony!

I somehow missed all the books between the first one and this one. I really don’t know how that happened except to say that it was 2020 and nothing was right with 2020.

Anyway – I saw that the Piper Rayne duo has this one coming out and I jumped at the opportunity to review this one because I really enjoyed the first one and liked all the characters that we met initially.

I do wish that I had read the other books before this one because I have no doubt that there was some buildup between Jax and Frankie throughout the other books that I missed that brought us to this book. Is it necessary to read them? No, because this is a standalone, but I could definitely tell there was "behind the scenes" scenarios that brought us to here.

I do have to say that I enjoyed the push and pull between Jax and Frankie. He loves to push her buttons and while she annoyed with him she also finds him to be quite attractive. However, they are both on different paths.

Jax is not a relationship type of guy and needs to deal with his past. Frankie is a single mom and needs to focus on her little girl and job. But she sees Jax with her daughter Jolie, that just melted her heart (and mine).

While there were things that I wished were fleshed out a bit more (personal preference) and wish I had the build up of these two prior to this book, I still really enjoyed this one. Now I must go back and read the rest because I need to know how all these all couples worked out.

The Rooftop Crew series is one I would I highly recommend (and I only read 2 of the 6, so that is saying something).

So many feels for A Co-Worker's Crush by Piper Rayne!

I loved the storyline, it was beautifully written, emotional, romantic and I loved watching Jax and Frankie's relationship unfold.

From their first meeting Jax and Frankie have had this amazing pull.
I loved how they would push each others buttons until they got the reaction they're looking for. They made me smile, laugh with their banter and they touched my heart watching them break down their barriers and love each other unconditionally.

Jax is sweet, fun loving, thoughtful and passionate man, and he was perfect for Frankie and her little girl Jolie. Watching Jax interact and step up as a father figure to this sweet girl brought out all the feels.
For a man who grew up without a family he was so giving and loving to both Frankie and Jolie.
I loved how Jax helped Frankie learn to trust again and made this strong woman feel loved and wanted.
These two are perfect together, I'm so happy this little family got their much deserved happily ever after.

This book was bittersweet for me because I knew that it meant the end to this amazing series and this wonderful group of friends. This author duo is one of my favorites, especially when it comes to giving me stories that warm the heart. I find myself invested in the characters and want to be friends with them just so I can interact with them. In many ways, I feel like I know them. They are always authentic and make me even more thankful for being a part of their tribe, even if it is just in a fictional sense.

This was my most anticipated book of the series. I fell in love with Jax as soon as he was first introduced. I loved the push and pull that he had with Frankie and the great friendship he had with Jolie, despite being an enemy of her mom's. Watching these characters evolve was half the fun as they had so much in common that it would have been a shame if they didn't at least put the hostilities aside and become friends.

There were a few areas that I wish had been fleshed out a little bit more (I cannot explain because I don't want to give a spoiler) but for the most part, this was the perfect ending of this series. I liked that the authors included scenes with the previous characters and also gave an idea of what the future held in store for this crazy wonderful group. It truly felt like the book version of Friends.

I am not sure what this author duo has in store for their readers next, I just know I will be ready with my finger over the buy now button because they have yet to let me down.

Ohh this is so bittersweet for me. I have fallen in love with this series and these group of friends. I wasn’t prepared for this series to end but this book was everything I could have wanted and so much more. I have been eagerly anticipating Frankie and Jax’s story ever since Jax was introduced midway through this series. And their enemies to lovers romance has been building for a while now...and it was so worth the wait!

I was so with captivated Jax and Frankie’s love story. I loved their push and pull and their red hot chemistry was impossible to ignore. I enjoyed watching Jax and Frankie give into the attraction they had. And I especially loved the relationship Jax had with Frankie’s daughter, Jolie. It was so heartwarming and added depth to this story.

A Co-Worker’s Crush is emotional, beautiful, and hilarious. It is the perfect combination of everything I love in romance. A MUST READ and a great farewell to the Rooftop Crew.

This is the book I've eagerly been awaiting for. I was excited to start to start this one, but sad too because this is the last book in the Rooftop Crew series. This book was everything I wanted and more. Jax is so delicious and the man I knew he was underneath it all. Both Jax and Frankie's back stories hit you in the heart. You can't help, but root for those two to get the HEA they deserve. Don't even get me started with Jax and Jolie together. Ovaries exploded with those moments. A favorite scene is at Christmas and Earl. I love Jolie and she's so stinking cute. She's going to steal your heart. I couldn't have asked for this series to end any better. A Must read!!

I loved this enemies to lovers romance!! Frankie was a tough softie and Jax was a sarcastically quipped sweetheart. And their banter! It was locked and loaded with heat and tingles that kept me in stitches. Frankie’s daughter, Jolie was an absolute doll and I adored how everyone pitched in to help Frankie, even when she didn’t think she needed it. The bonus chapters happily nailed the hea for me too💗

A Co-Workers Crush is the final book in the Rooftop Crew Series and my absolute FAVORITE book of this series!! I've been wanting Jax's story since he arrived in Clifton Heights and after every interaction between him and Frankie that anticipation for his story grew more and more.

Jax and Frankie's story is an enemies to lovers romance that will steal your heart from the very first page to the very last! This book had me laughing with the witty banter and one liners, smiling because of Jolie (hello 5 year old comments) and the sexual tension......off the freaking charts!!! This couple was EVERYTHING and absolutely imperfectly perfect!

This story is one of my all time favorite Piper Rayne books and without a doubt on my TOP READS for 2020!

This is the last book in the series and the one that I have been waiting for. We have seen the sexual tension between Jax and Frankie build up. While they appeared to be enemies, we knew that there was so much more between them. You know the saying "save the best for last"? Well Piper Rayne, definitely did that with this book. Maybe for me, it's the best because Jax has been my favorite, with Dylan a very close second. Ot it's the fact that Jax and Frankie were so good together, the enemies to friends to lovers, with an adorable little girl who not only melted Jax's heart but mine, just got me.

Frankie is a single mom with an abusive ex. Jax has his own past that still haunts him in ways, specifically when it comes to relationships He simply does not do them. Since Jax came back to Crown Heights and started working at Dylan's shop these two have butt heads. they appear to hate each other, but when you dig a little deeper I think you will find that their "dislike" for each other is quite the opposite. Frankie's little girl Jolie has taken a liking to Jax and vice versa. That little girl has him wrapped round her finger. And seeing Jax with her, just melts Frankie's heart. When Frankie's situation with her ex gets a little hairy, Jax offers her a hand and a friendship. They are both going through something right now and could use a friend. But with the sexual tension between them as thick as it is, I am not sure a friendship is the only thing between them. When they start to catch feelings will it end their friendship before it even began?

Jax is sexy but so sweet and caring and kind. He may bust Frankie's chops, every chance he gets but to him it is all in good fun. When it comes down to it, this guy has a heart. You see that when he is with Jolie, and how he is there for Frankie.

Frankie is a tough chick who has been through a lot. But her daughter is everything to her and will do whatever it takes to protect her. even if that means accepting Jax's help. Her and Jax have this amazing connection and undeniable chemistry. The three of them truly make the perfect little family. I loved the banter between the two of them. I loved watching them fall in love and how much Jax would do to protect and care for Frankie and Jolie.

I loved this series and am so sad to see it end and have to say goodbye to these characters. They are an amazing group of friends who have each other's back. They are that tight knit group of friends that anyone would want to have. Reading this series made me feel like I was a part of their little circle. Piper Rayne knows how to suck you into their world and make you feel like you are a part of them all. As always the banter and witt will make you laugh, the friendships will melt your heart and the writing is flawless. They know how to capture your hearts from start to finish. And A Co-worker's Crush was no different. Perfect end to an amazing series!

Uggghhhhhhh.. Girls who show attitude to good guys just grate on my nerves... She has a shitty ex who hit her n hurt her yet she still expects that guy to step in as a dad to her daughter.. The hero is a foster kid.. Yet she still makes jabs at him.. Have some heart, bitch.. What if she had that kind of upbringing?? She would have been so defensive... I wish such girls just disappear off the face of romance novels...
