The Omega's Secret Pregnancy

Five years ago, Felix fled his hometown, leaving behind lies, a proposal, and a fifteen-year relationship with his alpha. Now, fresh out of money, he's back, guilt-laden, struggling to shore up his savings so he can flee again.

Ever since Felix rejected him, Kade's been programming, helping his family out of bankruptcy. Felix had said Kade wasn't rich enough as an alpha, wasn't good enough to marry. Kade still isn't. All he has now: the silver ring he proposed with.

When they meet again, Felix goes into heat. After a scorching night together, Felix discovers he's pregnant. He'd slept with the bondmate he helped bankrupt. Kade can't possibly want this child; Felix has hurt him, has kept so many secrets from him.

But as his belly grows, and as he's drawn to his alpha all over again, Felix can't deny the bond between them. He can't hide their baby forever, either.

The Omega's Secret Pregnancy is a 100,000-word slow-burn second chance romance, with many erotic scenes, LOTS of pining, and some hurt/comfort themes. There is no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed HEA.

This is the worst alpha/omega book I've ever read! The writing was so choppy and repetitive that I ended up skimming so many pages just so I could reach the end. I did not like Kade's passiveness, and I hated the childishness of Felix. Everything put me off from the first para to the last. There were a few moments which made me smile, but this type of story is just not for me, at all.

I LOVE that authors are totally getting on board the a/b/o mpreg train, be it shifters or contemporary, and I loved that this had everything I wanted in that type of story - a heat, KNOTTING, scent glands (which was nice to see, I see that in fanfic more than published stories), bondmate marks, getting the mpreg from start to finish, some angst, and a HEA. I've been looking forward to this story since the author first told me it was coming, and for the most part, I was not disappointed!

First off, I adored Kade, his love and his patience for Felix, how understanding he was with everything, and he just wanted the best for Felix, thinking that he wasn't enough just himself. Oh my heart, I just loved Kade. I also loved the flashbacks to them as kids when they were first meeting and discovering each other. Heck, I would have loved even more of that as they were growing up together!

My personal pet peeve, however, is the whole big misunderstanding - when characters just won't talk to each other, they interpret something how they want and never discuss it, and the whole entire conflict could be avoided if they would just sit down and talk! That's what this story felt like for me - if Felix had just talked to Kade, there wouldn't have been any angst, separation, etc. I get that it makes for conflict, but it's just a trope that is used too frequently and I wish characters would just talk. I wanted to shake Felix and tell him to man up a few times in this story.

The pace was sometimes a bit slow, and I remember being in the last third bit of the story and thinking that there was just a LOT of sex, which normally I'm all for, but I almost think there was...too much? I would have preferred more story, more of them talking and having meaningful conversation and interaction, than just resorting to sex.

Still, I adored the story and yearned for that HEA, which we did get. Also! I would REALLY love to see Felix's brother, Taylor, get his story as he seemed like his would be very interesting! He's also an omega but his job seemed like it'd make for a great story. I love this author and always look forward to what she writes next, and do hope for more mpreg!

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Omega’s Secret Pregnancy is an angsty second chance romance, featuring childhood friends Kade and Felix who’s lies and built up guilt come to the forefront — and of course, let’s throw in a baby.

For one, kudos to Anna Wineheart making me love tropes and drama that I usually wouldn’t read in another book. There are miscommunications, painful decisions, angst, and second chance romance all which are things I don’t usually prefer in my books. However, even with this book that’s not as polished as her newer work, I was pulled in from the beginning. Not only does she capture emotion and tug on my heartstrings like an accomplished musician, but she makes the drama something you simultaneously read on for and despise in the same moment. It’s emotional.

Felix and Kade’s story begins in elementary school where they forged a friendship, and Kade has always protected Felix. When Kade learns about bonding marks, him and Felix exchange them — because even as children, they knew they’d be close and he wanted to protect him. We see glimpses of how their relationship developed from a close platonic bond to something romantic as they grew older, and it’s a sweet fifteen year journey. …However, we also learn how it all came to fall apart five years ago from the present. I won’t go into why, but ultimately it was neither of their own fault besides misguided responses to emotional abuse from Felix’s father. Felix does do things he shouldn’t have and things he needed to apologize for, but I could empathize with his worry.

This book is full of sex (and well-written!), scenting, protecting, and all the good stuff I enjoy in an omegaverse. These two take their time on actually admitting their feelings, and both of them are men who have these insecurities about what they mean to each other. Yet, Kade never abandons his vow to protect Felix. Felix keeps his pregnancy from Kade secret for awhile — and the lies he tells hurts them both. Yet, when everything comes to light, we see that it was worth it.

The journey had tears, but I absolutely loved this one. Highly recommend!

3.8 ⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Format: ebook

First of all, I’m renaming Felix to literally any other name because he doesn’t deserve to be associated with any other Felixes. Let’s call him Fred for the sake of this review.

Fred absolutely does not deserve Kade. Honestly no one probably does, that boy deserves the entire world on a silver platter. But Fred definitely isn’t even a half of a fraction good enough for him.

Despite me hating Fred, I actually still managed to adore this book. The writing was good, the spice was crazy, there was fluff and angst and I was just kind of addicted to reading it. Like the fact that I loathe half of the couple and was mad the entire book and still rated it this high speaks a lot to the author’s talent.

***Spoilers coming up because I’m mad and can’t not talk about this…

I was fine with the pregnancy being a secret, I mean… I saw the title of the book. But Fred then telling Kade it wasn’t his baby wasn’t… great. But fine, I could’ve dealt with it for a few chapters. But Fred didn’t tell Kade it was his baby until EIGHTY-FUCKING-THREE PERCENT. For context, Kade found out about the pregnancy at 50%. Like, it was baffling.

And Kade was taking care of Fred the ENTIRE time he thought Fred was pregnant with someone else’s baby. And Fred was still in his delulu mind all “but Kade doesn’t want a baby” LIKE HE IS LITERALLY STEPPING IN AS STEP-PARENT TO HIS OWN OFFSPRING, IDIOT (not the endearment Kade calls him but an actual idiot).

Also his reasoning for leaving Kade the first time five years previous was ridiculous and then completely skimmed over. Because Kade forgave him for everything even though he didn’t deserve it. Because Kade is an angel and Fred is trash.

Anyways, to summarize: Kade is perfect. All 3.8 stars are for him. None are for Fred. He actually gets -1.2 stars. He took those stars away from Kade. Boo. He sucks and we hate him.

Have mixed feelings about this one. Loved the beginning, but then I was pushing myself to finish it and was not enjoying it so much. Felt that maybe it was too long and their issues were resolved really quickly at the end. Nevertheless, the smut was amazing lmao.

Kade and Felix are bonded mates, they have been since they were 10. 5 years ago, ashamed that he unwittingly took part in bankrupting Kades family, Felix ran away. His circumstances have made it so that he's had to come home. His first night home, he goes into heat and they make a baby. Felix thinks Kade doesn't want kids, or that he'll reject him for events in the past, so he tries to hide the pregnancy.

Because of the bond, Kade still wants to take care of his omega, so they grow closer and fall in love again. When Kade finds out about the pregnancy, Felix lies about the father, but eventually he comes clean about it when they have a long overdue heart to heart.

Overall, I liked this, but I think it was too long. Felix shouldn't have waited so long to come clean about the pregnancy and his secrets about the past. Because of the length and the fact I came close to DNF this, I think the actual rating is closer to a 2.5.

This was a little infuriating at times. Like Felix lied a fucking lot and It sometimes was so, so stupid. I wanted to shake him and Scream to him to please stop for dear god. If I was Kade I would have ended Up with trust issues.

There was also a lot of miscomunication and things not said clearly in this book. It made sense thought that all that was happening so okay.

I found them very cute, thought I have to say that I am a little worried about Kade's fighting and temper. It made sense and he only fights people Who deserve it, but the fact that no one like bats an eye about this dude hitting people is weird. Like in one scene Felix says he sent boys to the hospital when they were kids and one had complications and nearly died so wtf. And everyone is like Yasss, so cool.

I also want to do a minute of silence for the real victim of this story: that poor, poor motorcycle.

AND KADE'S MOTHER FINDS THEM FUCKING TWO TIMES!

I loved The Omega's Secret Pregnancy which is the first book in the Men of Meadowfall series by Anna Wineheart. It was full of storytelling and passion. I loved the glimpses into when Kade and Felix were young and how they exchanged bonding marks when Kade, who hadn't even presented yet as an alpha, so that he could protect Felix, who had presented early as an omega, from the bullies at school. However, circumstances pulled them apart and then will bring them back together five years later. This book will teach you the importance of communicating with your partner as Felix should have done with Kade instead of running away. This is an excellent second chance love story with plenty of angst and passion. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Chock full of ding dongs

I have no idea how Anna makes me care about people who are so TDTL, but here we are.

It took me forever to finish this one as I kept getting peeved at how ding dong both of these mcs were. One frigging conversation 5 years before and all this drama would have been avoided.

Regardless, I am glad I have read the beginning of this world, while its not as smooth as the more recent ones and I think some of the concepts are no longer relevant, like the alpha rankings, I was glad to see the people we meet in future books.

Ah this was lovely.

Slow-burn, steamy, with a touch of angst (and a whole lot of miscommunication!). But I loved it! This was my first Anna Wineheart, but I can already tell that her omegaverse novels will probably be some of my favourites.

"The Omega's Secret Pregnancy" could have been a touch less lengthy, but all in all, I was very, very happy with it. Second chance, heats and ruts, steamy, knotty fun, surprise pregnancy, a toe-curling, heart-stopping romance, and two absolutely lovely leads: what more can I ask for?

Anyways, I'm already jumping into book two.

Boring! Felix was a drip and wallowed in self pity. Don't see what Kade saw in him. My second book by this author and same problems. Too drawn out and wordy and the reason why Felix left Kade in the first place - ludicrous!!

I usually love abo books, I love a big age difference, especially if the younger partner is more dominant, so I thought I would like this book a lot. Well, I was wrong. The story did not flow, the characters was annoying, and I ended up speed reading to the end.

The entire and I mean entire plot is based around Felix continuously lying to Kade out of misplaced guilt and low self esteem. Normally I am down for this level of angst but Felix just really rattled my cage with how he treated Kade.

All the books I’ve read by Anna Wineheart I’ve loved, and she didn’t let me down with her new book “The Omega’s Secret Pregnancy”.

Felix has returned to his home town, Meadowfall, California. He’s what you might call a starving artist. He left town five years ago after breaking it off with his bonded mate who had proposed to Felix.

All because of those drawings of mansions his wealthy father had ask Felix to do. His father used the drawings to attract buyers for the mansions at high prices. The problem was those mansions housed people of the community that rented them.

His bonded mate’s family was one of those who went into bankruptcy. Felix felt it was his fault for doing the paintings that drew in the rich buyers. There was no way he wanted to hurt and fail his mate and he was not strong enough to face Kade, his bonded mate, so he ran away.

Felix had left the pharmacy with his prescription of suppressants; he was on the cusp of his heat. It’s late at night; his brother cancels on him to pick him up and suggests calling their father. When hell freezes over he might have called his father, but he’s not getting into an argument with the man.

That night while Kade’s out on his motorcycle he caught his mate’s lavender scent. It was easy to find Felix and their uncomfortable meeting happens. Kade offers a ride, Felix accepts, but being close to his mate bring his heat into play and they have a roll in the bed.

The torment these two lover’s have from the pass is hard to overcome and Felix’s lies don’t help their situation. I felt sorry for Kade. He was torn apart with Felix’s untruths but stayed by his side. He’d take as much as Felix was willing to give him. Kade’s patience is incredible and I praise him for sticking in there to reclaim his mate.

Felix starts with one lie when he left five years ago and continues - lie on top of lies formed quickly. There were times I wanted to smack Felix on the back of his head because his lies shredded his mate’s heart. But Felix also was tearing himself apart not being honest with his mate. He had never wanted to lie about his feelings for Kade or the baby Felix ends up carrying. Instead he tells Kade it isn’t his. You can imagine how Kade felt.

They are a loving couple that just can’t seem to get things right. What they needed to do was to have stated how they felt long ago. But Felix was afraid Kade would hate him for the bankruptcy and now the baby that Kade had stated in the past he didn’t want children. So Felix was tormented with wanting Kade to accept the baby and not telling him so he wouldn’t hurt him.

All Kade wanted was to have Felix back in his life as did Felix wanted Kade back and the two struggled within their own thoughts. They have been together since they bonded at ten years old and they both wanted to have those same feeling again. They do end up, finally, back together. Felix had a break down and confessed to all his lies.

This is a touching and endearing book about these two young men who have been together for decades. They overcame the heartache they both had suffered and now have their HEA ending. This is a wonderful book. I enjoyed it immensely and would highly recommend it to anyone. I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.

A love story based on a miscommunication that goes on for far, far, FAR too long.

I quite liked the story overall. But it loses it's charm midway as the story squeezes the miscommunication plotline of every single possible moment of the book. Goes on for a bit too long, which got me annoyed at the Omega. Like, geez, seriously?

That being said, this is still a fairly enjoyable story and I do love my mpreg themes.

Yet another badly paced, choppily written, alpha/omega romance of the non-shifting variety. Advertised as a second-chance story, it is not actually anything of this kind, since the heroes jump straight into sex a few pages after the beginning and then end up beating around the bush for the remainder of the book. As a minority of readers here, those (I reckon) with literary tastes which do not incline them to vapid romances as if those were much better than trashy PWPs, I was infuriated by the choice of tense, the pervasive interior monologues of the heroes which do not contribute one bit of characterization due to their triteness, the sheer length of the story uncompounded by any interesting things, and the utter absence of communication between Kade and Felix. The author really does push her few plot devices too far (miscommunication, the hidden pregnancy) ; small wonder the net result is an unbalanced tale in which one struggles a lot to feel any sympathy towards the Omega. And do not get me started on the many silly touches in the book ; I shall only quote one, which showcases the author's appalling disregard for the basics of human physiology :

"Felix wakes the next morning feeling like utter crap. The curtains are too thin. The heater is cranked too high. The bed sheets are too rough. His ass is sore, and when he relaxes, thick fluid oozes from his hole. He frowns, reaching down. His heat makes him drip thin, colorless slick, and... The smear on his fingers is a pearly white. The memories from last night slam back into him (...). Felix lingers on the sensations of being stretched, the way Kade fucks him like no one else can. It makes his body flush with warmth, makes him hard. When he pushes his fingers inside, he finds more of Kade’s cum, thick and sticky."

One is supposed to swallow that sperm does not dry and then flake inside one's cavities (plus the mere use of "hole" here brutally ruins the dramatic illusion ; who does speak of oneself in this way, pray tell ?). Aye sure; and soon "black" will mean "white" and pigs will fly to the moon and back. Sorry, Mrs Wineheart, you are not in any literary capacity to make this reader forget his education.

I Knew that they had been apart for 5 years, but a tiny part of my mind still wished that they hadn't slept with other ppl in that time. Sure that can't be cheating, but they were still(and are) bonded mates, and in a shifter book I wanna see more romance, loyalty and devotion(mostly bcs they still loved each other and they were claimed)... Anyway it started so well, so probably I'm gonna finish it. But damn ...

The Omega’s secret pregnancy
Anna Wineheart
Review contains spoiler!
Oh da*** it! I hate giving just two stars to books with such a cute cover and a story that promises so much and could in fact actually be cute if it wasn’t for this long middle part without much story but a lot of repeating lines. The thing is, if it was just for the beginning and the end of the story I’d have given 5 stars but there are so many words in between and so little is happening.
But let’s start at the beginning. We have got the Omega Felix who messed up his relationship with his beloved Alpha five years ago and moved to another city. He comes back now and of course meets his Alpha Kade again right at the moment he comes in heat. Although their first intimate contact after all that time is during Felix’ heat both realize that the feelings they had for each other didn’t disappear over the five years. So they start meeting again. But soon after their first night together Felix finds out that he is pregnant with Kade’s child. But he can’t tell him that because Kade told him five years ago that he doesn’t want children on his own and besides that Felix still has this bad conscience because he hurt his Alpha so badly five years ago. He is totally sure that he will never forgive him and they can’t have their HEA.
And all this happens right at the beginning of the story. And then there are several chapters of a quite long book where both guys think that they still are madly in love with each other and would like to renew their bond but they don’t tell it the other. Felix because of the bad conscience and Kade because he thinks that he isn’t good enough for Felix (because he told him so 5 years ago because he wasn’t and still isn’t as rich as Felix’ family). So they just make out and Kade knots several times into Felix but they don’t tell their feelings to each other. They just think them and then at a certain point I just started thinking. ‘Yea, even I got that they love each other and Felix did a stupid thing in the past by just disappearing without telling Kade why?’
So all the middle part is about making s**, thinking how much they love the other one and that they can’t be together anymore. Sometimes these scenes are interrupted by some short flashbacks of their adolescents, how they got together at the age of 10 and how they struggled through their teenage years together and eventually you get to know why Felix left five years ago. And that was just another thing which I didn’t get. So Felix was all the time afraid that Kade would hate him, if he learns the truth… At least I had to read this over several pages. So he told him that he Kade wasn’t good enough for Felix. Seriously why shouldn’t he hate him exactly the same after this statement and all the lies? (But of course Kade doesn’t hate him and wouldn’t have hated him if he had told him the truth straight away, because… guess what… Kade loves Felix…)
And then finally there is the HEA.
But seriously…. I didn’t get the Alpha – Omega story in this at all. I mean there are just misunderstandings between the two of them and secrets that made Felix leave in the first place. But when this all happened Felix and Kade had been a couple for 15 years. So where is the total trust of this couple towards each other which is actually common on love-based Alpha-Omega relationships specially after such a long time? And then when they finally meet each other again, they still keep so many secrets from each other….
And then there is Kade who runs after Felix like a dog. Please don’t get me wrong I don’t like the macho-type Alpha but seriously Kade’s behavior drove me nuts. He is the worst softie I’ve ever read about. Whatever Felix does, he forgives him without being angry for just one moment. Felix can treat him as badly as he wants, Kade just shakes it off. Kade isn’t even really mad when he finds out about Felix’ baby and Felix tells him that it isn’t his. And when Kade finally gets to know the truth he states that he is angry but takes Felix up into his room and they make out….
And that’s what the whole middle part is about making out… I actually have to admit that I left some parts out because there was too much making out for my taste. I really missed the story. The book started so cute and the end was really cute again (That’s the reason for the second star – without that I’d just given 1). It could have really been a good book if the middle part would have been shorter and if there was another reason for Felix leaving Kade. Because this one really let me doubt their trust to each other and as conclusion their perfect Alpha-Omega love story.

Sooooo, I looked through the author's books, and I REALLLY wanted to read Omega's Stepbrother...

I figured after my not-so-receptiveness to Burning for My Prince see review here, better to stick with safe... and what hits-the-spot more than omegaverse with incest a sprinkle of taboo ?????

description

Thing is though, reading Burning for My Prince some characters made an appearance, and I didn't really know the history, I mean, it's mentioned, and these books can absolutely be read as standalones, but, I don't like questions when enjoying my smut romance...

Hence the bright idea to start from the top!

And so we did: enter Kade and Felix.

description

Now, don't get me wrong... I LOOOOOVVVEEEEE ME SOME KADE 💜💜

He has his issues... who doesn't? 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

But LAAWWWWDDDDD that man DID NOT deserve the SHIT-FUCKING-SHOW that is Felix JEEESUSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

description

Soooo I have some theories developing:
1. I suspect I'm REALLLLY NOT going to like the omegas in this omegaverse (assuming I continue reading the series).
They're just soooooo... can you just talk the shit out like fucking adults??? What's with all the stupid secrets and even MORE STUPID LIES???

2. WHY ARE WE DRAGGING THIS SHIT OUT FOR FOUR HUNDRED FUCKING PAGES???? I mean, I got it, THE FIRST TWO TIMES when you explained in fucking detail that he feels guilty, and he lied, so did his Omega neighbor next door, as well as the one across the street, why are we still revisiting this trope???

3. Me thinks this author doth has a template for sex scenes...

...they're beginning to look the same at least in the two books I've read... down to what the alpha says...

description

Mmmhhhhhhmmmm.... we shall see!

Overall... this was better than Burning for My Prince, which I attributed to a change in the age/maturity of the alpha MC. ⬅️ see, this is part of what frustrates me about this author, her writing is good enough to have nuances clearly visible, such as age difference in character presentation, but the overall story with the annoying omega is just uggghhhh, seriously?!?!?!?

I would  LOVE her work, easily one of my go-to Omegaverses (of which there are only a handful) if she'd do a better job with the omegas, make them less annoying (and I can't believe I'm about to say this) and shorten her books too... or maybe keep them long, but make the content worthy of the length.

3.5 s for not putting me through another immature alpha, but instead, giving me Kade who ALMOST made-up for my dislike of his bond-mate!
December 5, 2025
This book was an incredibly frustrating read. Felix’s behavior throughout the story made it difficult to sympathize with him; he consistently positioned himself as the victim while repeatedly hurting Kade, who was portrayed as nothing but caring, loyal, and patient. The conflict between them stems almost entirely from a lack of communication—issues that could have been resolved early on had Felix been honest. Of course, without this miscommunication, the plot wouldn’t exist, but it made the story feel unnecessarily dragged out. When Felix returned to Meadow Falls, the narrative never clearly explained his reasons, though it is implied his art career was struggling. After reuniting with Kade and entering heat, Felix realized he had forgotten to take his birth control. Instead of telling Kade, he chose to hide the pregnancy for months, wanting to keep a “piece” of him. This decision felt selfish and manipulative, especially considering Kade’s evident love and lifelong devotion. It was frustrating to watch Kade remain oblivious, to the point where he didn’t even notice Felix’s pregnancy bump. Are you that stupid?

Felix’s pattern was consistent: act wounded, lash out, then turn around and hurt the people who genuinely care about him. For someone who grew up with Kade—someone who literally knew him inside and out—Felix behaved like he didn't know how much Kade loved and cared for him deeply. Instead of communicating with the Alpha who was supposed to be his partner for life, he chose the cruelest words possible. He slapped the proposal ring out of Kade’s hand, told him he wasn’t good enough or wealthy enough to be his Alpha, and acted as if Kade’s love meant nothing.

What made it even worse was his backstory. If Felix genuinely felt guilty about his father involving him in the bankruptcy scheme, it makes no sense why he would run away to live his best life somewhere else while Kade—his bondmate, his lover—was left with nothing. While reading you could pick up that Felix was off thriving for a bit in his new environment since he was selling a lot of paintings and learning to cook new things while Kade and his family was suffering back home with barely any money or food. Instead of staying to help the victims or support Kade through an incredibly difficult time, Felix ran away. And his first thought wasn’t to come clean or at least face the consequences—it was simply, “I can’t let Kade find out.” Even though Felix was manipulated by his father, his choice to disappear felt cowardly and selfish.

What absolutely infuriated me was the way Felix held onto one outdated comment Kade made years ago about not being ready for children. He used this single moment as justification for assuming Kade would never want a family—despite the fact that they were young back then and obviously not ready. Time had passed, they had matured, their relationship had deepened, yet Felix never once considered that Kade might actually want the baby and be happy to raise a family with him now. It was such a weak excuse for such a massive lie.

Even when Susan and Taylor encouraged him to be honest about the pregnancy, Felix insisted the child “had nothing to do with Kade.” That line alone made my blood boil, because Kade absolutely deserved to know. He was the father, he was still madly in love, and he would have supported both Felix and the baby. He literally kept that ring he tried proposing with for years.

Overall, while the author clearly has a talent for writing emotional tension, I’ve noticed a pattern in her Omega characters. They often fall into the same frustrating traits—self-victimization, poor communication, needless secrecy—which makes the drama feel repetitive rather than compelling. Unfortunately, Felix followed this pattern to an extreme, and it made the story far less enjoyable for me. This book was also way to drawn out.

Mpreg of any kind usually isn't my thing, but this book promised to be so full of tropey goodness and delicious angst, and it delivered on both of those promises, so I ended up being fine with the mpreg parts. I needed an infusion of angst and feels, and this book certainly delivered!

I kind of felt bad for Felix. Although this was definitely the case of "omg just sit down and TALK TO ONE ANOTHER FOR FIVE MINUTES and most (if not all) of your problems will be solved" trope (which usually annoys me), I actually kind of understood how it happened when it came to Felix. So it'd be rather hypocritical of me to say anything about that, since I am pretty much the same.

Kade was a good character, but I felt that he was a little too forgiving and understanding. In my personal experience, no matter how "good" people are, run long and hard enough (no matter how reasonable that seems to you, because that is the only path you know when it comes to dealing with emotions) and they'll give up on you, without fail. Usually it doesn't even take them that long to move on from you, which just fuels the whole "I'm not good enough to be loved" tapes running through your head. It was kind of hard to believe that he would stick around for five years, pining for Felix.

But was the book an enjoyable read? Hell yeah! I read it all in one afternoon, and considering that I am a serial "start this book and if it doesn't grip me right away and thoroughly at all times I will put this fucker down and start something else posthaste" type of reader, that's saying something. And I'd totally recommend it to people who are looking for some trope-heavy non-shifter mpreg. I'm also looking forward to reading the next book in the series, which will hopefully be released soon.

The pining and the angst are next level in this book. It’s all id and no superego. It was just what I felt like reading!

Felix and Kade are exes who have been together since they were kids. At 25 they broke up. At 30, they reunite and hook up at the start of the book. Felix has a lot of anxiety and guilt related to how they broke up and it makes him forgetful (that level of stress and anxiety takes a toll on memory and cognition) and sad. Kade is still wondering what he did wrong and trying to figure out how to fix it. Kade wants someone to be close to and to take care of, and struggles without that (he moved in with his mom after his dad died and his brothers left and that helps a little that he can support her and vice versa).

I really like that women can be any of the a/b/o designations in this too. Honestly I’m dying for a lesbian a/b/o book and I have no idea where to find one. I’m also glad that Felix wasn’t celibate for the half decade he was apart from Kade. Not that celibacy is bad, but often characters who can become pregnant are celibate while not with their main love interest to preserve their “purity” and desirability. It ties back to the virgin fetish stuff that I don’t like. So I was glad not to see that here!

Most of the drama is fairly contrived, but it doesn’t bother me as long as it’s just believable enough. Mostly the issues

A good start to a new series!

I am a slave to MPREG, and I love any author who puts a spin on it. Ms Wineheart made her main characters soul bonds, who met as children and drifted in each other's orbit yet who were still able to walk away from each other without the regular, we-can't-live-without-each-other-once-bonded. She also decided to introduce mating marks that did not necessarily have to be on the shoulder as I am so used to. And the. Hell!! Scent marks? Then there was Felix's omega brother who was WAY out there and definitely needs his own story.

For Kade and artist Felix, it was like playing footsie under the table. The tension was obvious, the chemistry high. It was five years since Felix had walked away from his bondmate, the one person he had loved and hurt unknowingly. Now he was back in town having been unable to survive. He finds himself in the midst of his heat and facing his down past.

Felix made me want to slap him left and right. He was protecting himself, yes, after hearing what he thought Kade had said. But like Felix, Kade was protecting himself. Communication was definitely not key to these two.

Kade, Alpha, IT entrepeneur, smelled his bond mate from blocks away. He had not thought he would ever see Felix again. Now he was helping the one he still loved, starting a troubling relationship with his omega, even though Felix was adamant that they were never going to be together again as he was only home for a short time. But plans had a way of changing, and fate is an evil mistress.

Kade wanted...
He wanted Felix.
He wanted the life they had. But his omega was determined to keep him at arms length despite the obvious passion between them. Now if Felix can give up the secrets he was holding, maybe, just maybe they could find their happy ever after.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.

Arc review

So this is a little on the late side, sorry. This book was a 2 for me. It may seem bad to say that I took off more stars for the point of view and writing than the overall story concept, but to me execution is very important in writing and this story just didn't seem to have it

This was written in present tense third person. I love third person, but I've slowly become to not loathe first person/ alternating first person past or present perfect tense. You get the real sense of being in the ,omens or in the story. You'd think you'd get that in this because its at least present tense, but the fact that it's in third just screws it all up. It's like some other reviewers say, it's very repetitive because you have to distinguish between the characters since it's not in first person and you have to clarify so the reader doesn't get confused while reading. Alas this still was hard to get through because of the tense of the story.

Now on to the rest of the story. I don't like insta-love but if it can be done without being cheesy as heck, it works this was ok. It's not exactly insta-live because the characters already have prior history to when they next meet up. But, when they do it's like they instantly succumb to their baser needs and desires and tah-dah! An instant one night stand pregnancy. Felix and Kade are both hot and sweet together. I don't like the juvenile feel I got when reading about their lack of communication, though. It played on unnecessary actions to create drama and tension and it just didn't work for me. I like the way the pregnancy flows some authors just make the character pregnant without any of the other characteristics of pregnancy and they skip the birth completely so the characters suddenly have a kidder three in the epilogue.

Overall this had potential, but the tense of the story changed how the story was told and it just negatively affected the overall impression of the story.

So this book made me truly appreciate all those after school specials I saw as a kid. You know, the "safe sex" and "teen parents" and "the value of honesty" specials that were so achingly earnest you felt guilty about snarking over them?

Yeah. Felix clearly should have watched a few more of those. While far from being a teen parent in age, he has all the good decision capability of your average 16 year old. That's without even getting into the whole hiding-a-pregnancy thing. Felix. Boo-boo. I have SEEN that Molly Ringwald movie, and it does NOT end well.

But I thought this book was adorable. It's exactly what it says on the tin, which made it easy to relax and enjoy the ride while muttering about stubborn characters. The sex is scorching, although there were a few instances where my analytical brain piped up with hygiene concerns, but honestly that's just the pedant in me. I wanted a hot, sweet, HEA mpreg, with pregnancy schmoop and an overabundance of misunderstandings and that is PRECISELY what I got.

Cons: I would have liked more world building, if only to better appreciate the internal sub-hierarchy within the overall ABO structure. There were a lot of things related to that that were just told to me that didn't really make sense in the grand scheme of things. And overall, I felt like the secondary characters could have done with a bit more love.

I'd normally give this 3 stars, but I'm adding an extra star on because The Omega's Secret Pregnancy is exactly what it promises to be; a fun, sweet read with just enough angst to make the happy ending worth it. This book doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is, which is delightfully refreshing in and of itself.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I'm not sure I thought this through, though, because now everyone will know I read mpreg.

I'm a huge mpeg fan and have read quite a few by now. Some are amazing, some are ok, some are not so great and then there some that just give you everything you hope for. The Omega's Secret Pregnancy is definitely the later. This was such a good read. As well as being non-shifter mpreg it's also a second chance romance which is another trope I really enjoy.

Omega Felix ran from Meadowfall and his alpha Kade when he discovers that his father is responsible for a horrible misfortune which befalls Kade's family. Felix mistaken believes his own actions helped his father and unable to cope with the guilt he leaves the alpha that he loves and has been bonded with since they were children. They were true childhood sweethearts.

After five years away Felix is back in town and quickly bumps into Kade. The draw between them is as strong as ever and they are unable to resist each other. One slight problem is Felix is in heat and soon discovers he's pregnant. Felix is convinced that Kade deserves a better mate, one who hasn't betrayed him. And he believes his alpha won't want the baby. Kade meanwhile has never gotten over Felix and very much still loves him. He has his own insecurities about money or being a powerful enough alpha for his mate. I loved seeing an alpha who showed his vulnerabilities and an omega who can totally look after himself.

Some mpregs rush through the months of pregnancy but TOSP didn't do that which i'm pleased about. The scenes where Felix talks to his bump were adorable.

Really hope there's going to be another book in this series. I totally wanna read a book with Felix's brother's as MC as i'm totally inquired by his story.

If you're not a fan of miscommunication and two idiot MCs, just skip this. I thought the comments were over exaggerating that it lasts for almost the entire book...it does, omg. Felix, I wanted to jump in the book and slap some sense into him. Damn, this man, the mental hoops he jumped to avoid everything going on, only to end up lying to Kade when he found out about the pregnancy was just the icing on the cake for one of the worst characters I've read in a while🙄. And I'm sorry, but he was like five months in and Kade never noticed a damn thing and they were hooking up from day one, how????😭 And every scene between them felt like the same pattern, each chapter was such a rinse and repeat of the last that even the steamy scenes started getting sooo boooorinnggg because that was their relationship. Having sex, that's it. There were no deep conversations, nothing substantial to their characters or personalities. Nothing to quantify this childhood bond that lasted as long as it did. The yearning and longing I was here for was non existent. And then Kade's mother still being on Felix's side after he shattered her son, saying the child wasn't his, and that he was leaving, breaking his heart yet again and still she has the audacity to say that he should go back to him as Felix still needs him because boohoo poor pregnant Omega who got himself into such an easily resolved situation! The f*ck was wrong with her expecting him to merely accept the betrayal and go grovel back mere hours after the fact?!

I hated this book, I hated the story, I hated the characters (besides Taylor), I hated everything about this!

But you know, at least the book title lived up to it's name🙂

The Omega's Secret Pregnancy is the first book in the Men of Meadowfall series by author Anna Wineheart. This one is written in alternating POV. This story has friends turning into lovers. What stops them along the way is mostly their own insecurities and misunderstandings between them.
Felix is coming home. He is in heat. While he has been through heats before, he forgot his suppressants this day. What does that mean? Well he will be in desperate need of sex. He is an Omega. There is one Alpha he wants. But he ran away from him many years ago. Can he trust him now? And Felix has to find the courage to know he is enough for someone else. I think he is a very insecure character who needs to know he is perfect just the way he is.
Kaden I felt his character was a little under developed. But he shows up sees his old flame and childhood friend Felix. The feelings he has had for Felix never have really gone away. But he has to convince his other half that they belong together this time forever.
This story has some good ideas in it. I did feel some could use a little more flushing out, but over all I really liked this story. It is a good read if you like MM pregnancy stories. This one does have some good heat in it, and love that kept me turning the pages.
