A cookbook dedicated to kids, improving their cooking skills in the kitchen while under adult supervision and giving them more options on one of their most favorite foods - pizza!
Charity does a great job in making this book for the younger reader although there are some areas where the reading is a bit heavy for the most young. Fortunately these areas can be reviewed though with these readers by the adult who is helping them or at least read through by the adult themselves.
What I love about this book is its presentation. Each section is dedicated to exploring one important concept when it comes to pizza and as such has a nice introductory blurb. Whether you are wanting to make dough, pizza sauce, get to know your toppings, international tastes, fun pizzas or even the classics they have been well organized on these introductory pages so you can flip to them instead of going back to the Table of Contents.
At the same time the book has nice colored pictures showcasing the ingredients and some of the pizzas spread throughout not only the section pages but the book itself. Who doesn't need that kind of encouragement to keep them going?
The recipes are also set into an easy read style with bold words, distinct listing of necessary tools, ingredients and directions to keep the reader on spot. Along with the occasional jokes and trivia this will be a fun read. Plus at the back there are six pages where the reader can make their own pizza map of tastes they come up with and a cheatsheet of Measurements Conversion.
For me the only thing that was a bit of a strangeness was some of the flavors of the pizza. Remembering my own childhood and at least knowing some of the kids I know I can't see many wanting to try a balsamic mushroom and goat cheese pie. Then again I guess it is how you are raised.
All in all, though, it has some interesting and easy looking recipes that I may have to give a try when I can get a chance to get the ingredients together. Otherwise I would definitely recommend it for not only children but anyone in general who likes pizza.

Pizza School is a tutorial cookbook for youngsters and adult helpers written by Charity Curley Mathews. Released 17th Dec 2019 by Rockridge Press, it's 130 pages and available in paperback and ebook format. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. The book also includes a short author bio, and a metric conversion chart. There is no index. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this book is included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free.
The book has a logical and easy to follow format. The introduction covers the basics, with notes for adult facilitators/parents, and how to utilize the cookbook. The following chapters cover food safety and basic techniques, dough, sauce, and toppings (one chapter each). The recipe chapters contain classic recipes, new classics, international/fusion recipes, and non-pizza-pizzas (breakfast, dessert, etc). The recipes have their ingredients listed bullet style in a sidebar. Measurements are given in US standard only. Special tools and ingredients are also listed, along with yields and cooking directions. The ingredients are all easily sourced at any moderately well stocked grocery store.
This is an accessible guide with recipes aimed at kids. The writing style is fun and easy to read with instructions including good tips for safe food handling and cooking without mishaps. My quibble with the book is that the recipes are mostly not photographed. There are some photos, and they're clear and attractive, but they only represent a fraction of the recipes.
Pizza School is also peppered with cute quips and kid-friendly jokes. Overall, a nice cookbook with appealing and family friendly recipes. Four stars.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This cookbook that is aimed towards kids may also be welcomed by adults. If you would like to create pizza at home, this is a great resource. The book is divided into chapters on the three components of pizza; there are doughs, sauces and toppings. Following these is a section on old school classics and then one on new school classics. Last there is a chapter called just for fun.
The book begins with a word to parents. I like that the author uses a stop sign symbol to let kids know when they need to get assistance. There is information related to safety, tools that are needed and more.
All in all this is a good resource with nice photographs illustrating the creations and clear directions which include tools that are needed and some extra facts of interest along with the recipe. ]
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
This book is easy and simple to go through and use, but it does not lack in a sophisticated idea ... Teach a child to cook and cultivate in them a passion for doing it. The author uses her love of pizza to get kids involved through every step of the process.
I like that the author includes simple measuring info, ingredients, kitchen tools needed, and other beforehand info. There are three homemade dough recipes included with a gluten free option, along with three different homemade sauces as well. This book allows the child to use their imagination and be creative or use the tried and true varying recipes provided. The book is overall, laid out well and will be very engaging for both kids and adults.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Callisto Publishers/Rockridge Press and was under no obligation to post a review.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Really great kids cook book for kids who love to make easy dishes and who doesn't love pizza! The book offers clear, simple instructions on how to make each dish and provides alternative ingredients. It keeps allergies in mind. The only thing missing that i feel is pretty essential for a kids book are pictures!!
My six-year-old son really enjoyed this cookbook. So far we've made the crust, the taco pizza, and the Hawaiian pizza. Really looking forward to trying more, especially the Thai Chicken pizza! Thanks to Callisto Publisher's Club for the review copy.
