The ESV New Testament is designed to be an elegant, readable, and thoughtfullly produced New Testament text. This beautiful edition is made with high-quality materials, typeset like a novel with generous margin space and printed on book paper. The materials and layout are all intentionally chosen to invite readers to reflect deeply on the truths of the gospel found in the narratives and letters of the New Testament.
Books can be attributed to "Anonymous" for several reasons:
* They are officially published under that name * They are traditional stories not attributed to a specific author * They are religious texts not generally attributed to a specific author
Books whose authorship is merely uncertain should be attributed to Unknown.
Just finished Christ Church/Canon Plus’s Same Page Summer Bible reading plan, which goes through the whole New Testament and the book of Psalms over three months. It was good to read the whole New Testament over a relatively short period of time and get a big picture of the gospel again, combined with the beautiful truths contained in the Psalms. I highly recommend the Same Page Summer plan - I’ll definitely do it again. I only started highlighting verses when I was almost done with the plan, which I regret - it was so good to try and choose at least one key verse per day and record it. But one never can read the Bible enough, so I have learned my lesson and will begin highlighting with reckless abandon. I’ve always thought it would be nice to leave a beautiful Bible complete with thousands of highlights for posterity to enjoy - too bad I read this on my phone. XD
This marks the end of the second summer of doing the Christ Church Bible reading plan, and I'm so thankful that I decided to finally jump in last year. It's been a rough summer for everyone, and being consistently in the Word was a blessing.
This time around I read through in an order attested in some 2nd century manuscripts, in which the catholic epistles (Hebrews through Jude) come between Acts and Paul's epistles. If I'm honest, I'm not sure what there is to gain from that ordering, but it was interesting enough for an experiment.
I also read out of the ESV Creeds and Confessions Bible this time, which I enjoyed. The font size is very comfortable, the cover feels nice and sturdy. I only don't like having the cross-references down at the bottom of the page.
The ESV is, obviously, the ESV. Nobody needs me to review it.
I'm a Christian, can I honestly give the New Testament anything other than 5 stars? That said, I found it very refreshing to be intentional in reading it as a practice and discipline.
