Frankie Hawes is happy to shrink into the background and play personal assistant to her superstar photographer father and prodigy older brother. But when her brother breaks his leg and her dad is off on vacation, Frankie must step up to the plate and fill in for the Meyer-Nelson wedding. Held at the picturesque Revelation Cove in British Columbia, Frankie is more than a little nervous about playing photographer for the weekend. Other than a few snaps of canines here and there, Frankie is inexperienced, underprepared, and overwhelmed at the prospect of dealing with an incessant and irritating bridezilla who just so happens to be an old school bully. Enter wedding-guest Sam--a childhood-friend-turned-handsome bachelor who helps Frankie see that her black and white existence in the sidelines has the potential to snap into full high-definition color--if only she'd see it. As feelings grow between the pair and Frankie juggles dealing with the business during a family emergency, Frankie begins to realize that maybe it's time for her to pull focus in her own life.
A native of Portland, Oregon, Eliza Gordon (a.k.a. Jennifer Sommersby) has lived up and down the West Coast of the United States. Since 2002, home has been a suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia.
When not lost in a writing project, Eliza is a copy editor, mom, wife, bibliophile, Superman freak, and the humble servant of three very spoiled tuxedo cats. Eliza writes stories to help you believe in the Happily Ever After; Jennifer Sommersby writes young adult fiction.
Sam’s ex-girlfriend having schizophrenia was not a complete or helpful representation of this mental illness, and perpetuates the view that people with schizophrenia are “evil” which is untrue and very harmful. She’s directly described as being “violent and mean”, and the plot of her having schizophrenia was used as a way to write her off as “not a threat” to their relationship. She’s not given more depth than this in any way and is literally portrayed as a potentially baby-killing villain; people with schizophrenia in real life are working extremely hard to debunk these negative stigmas.
My husband suggested I share some common myths about schizophrenia that have been statistically/scientifically debunked! - “Violence is common among individuals with schizophrenia” - this is false! it’s rare and they’re actually much more likely to be the victim of violence rather than the perpetrator - “You can’t recover/make progress with schizophrenia” - this is also false, there are therapeutic and medicinal based options that have strongly proven to reduce symptoms for many people with schizophrenia - “Schizophrenia is having multiple personalities” it’s not (this would be Dissociative Identity Disorder), schizophrenia is the presence of hallucinations and delusions. Auditory and visual hallucinations are the most common in schizophrenia
Also people with schizophrenia are able to keep jobs, have satisfying relationships, and live full lives : ) There are a ton of great content creators on YouTube, Instagram, Tik-Tok, etc. to follow who show they’re normal people with strengths and weaknesses just like the rest of us. I highly recommend following some to see into a first-person viewpoint as to what schizophrenia is like : )

On a lighter note, I’ve done wedding photography so I was super intrigued to read this! I found nearly all of the bride’s requests (pre-ceremony) to be very fair, normal, and realistic requests for a bride to make (and in a pretty typical tone too; brides are reasonably stressed!); So it was hard to relate to Francesca as a photographer. I’m really glad she ended up being so successful in animal photography at the end! She was so smart to jump on a really appreciated niche in this day and age for young couples with their pets.

F-Stop was such an entertaining read! Francesca/Frankie/F-Stop is a really relatable character and I enjoyed being along on her journey as she figured out who she was and what she wanted from life. What started out as an opportunity to show her brother and father just how capable she really is, turned out to be more life-changing than she could have imagined. With the support of Sam, a long-lost childhood friend, and 2 of the most awesome 90-something year old ladies, Frankie slowly starts to believe in herself.
It was so fun to be back in revelation Cove, even for just a bit! Although F-Stop is a complete standalone and you don’t have to read the previous 2 books in the series, it was really great to revisit Holly and Ryan and I definitely recommend reading their books!
I was excited to read a new Eliza Gordon book because I've loved all her books so far! And I love being able to visit Revelation Cove again! It sounds like such a wonderful place to visit. I had to keep reminding myself thought that this is not a sequel to the Hollie and Ryan stories and I was disappointed to only get fleeting glimpses of them and their family. I only wish we could see more about their lives at Revelation Cove. But once I got past the disappointment of it not being more of a Hollie and Ryan story, I really started to enjoy Frankie's story on its own.
Due to circumstances beyond her control, Frankie very reluctantly goes to Revelation Cove as the wedding photographer for a bridezilla and her awful bridesmaids. She has lots of self confidence issues at first, as her talent is more with dog photography, and the whole situation takes a bit of a turn for the worse when she runs into her emotionally abusive ex too. But Frankie reconnects with an old family friend who volunteers as her photography assistant and makes some wonderful new friends along the way. Eliza Gordon fills her characters with lots of loveable quirks and heart, and you can't help falling in love with them.
This turned out to be a fast paced and fun read. What I thought might be cringe-worthy scenes (I find bridezilla scenarios often are), ended up humorous and amusing. And of cours), there's a very satisfying ending. Hollie Porter is still my favorite Eliza Gordon character, but F-Stop can stand on its own and is definitely worth reading! I received an ARC in exchange for a review but all opinions are my own.
I don't read a ton of rom-coms, but when I do, I expect a lot. I want to be entertained and I want it to be well written and not just silly antics playing out on the page. These books are palate cleansers, but I still want to be thrown into their worlds and enjoy it. This is why I will continuously turn to Eliza Gordon and her well crafted books that have amazing characters with so much heart. F-Stop is a return to Revelation Cove in Canada and the characters we've been introduced to in the past. You do not need to read those books to fully enjoy Frankie and her family. This is a complete standalone. But I would highly recommend reading a bit of Holly and Ryan if you like this book. The crew of Revelation Cove is full of laughs and wildlife. Frankie/F-Stop is thrown into a situation she doesn't really want to be in. She works in the family business and when her brother Gabe injures himself, he sends her up to Canada to take over a job to shoot a wedding that ends up being one for the books. It's a wedding where the past meets the present and everything is failing. But not Frankie and her assistant, Sam. They are a team that works together well. They grew up together along with her brother and they just connect. There is an obvious understanding, appreciation and dare I say LOVE there? Even when shooting a wedding from hell. And boy is this wedding something!
AND that is only the first half! While the first half is full of a lying bridezilla and some stuffy no-good groom, we also get some characters you want more of. Some past characters and family of the wedding party. Those people play a huge part in my appreciation of the story and the plot. Because when Frankie and Sam return to Oregon for a family situation, this is when things take a turn toward family and some more serious matters.
F-Stop is an entertaining story full of laughs, family, animals and photography. But be prepared for heart and some serious. Even in the more dramatic parts, we can appreciate humor and the way the characters interact with one another. The story flows from wedding, to family, to family that we choose. And those aunts that stole the book? They may be my favorite! This book flowed well and went from more funny to dramatic with humor thrown in to alleviate a little pain. Everything balanced well for the plot and characters. I truly enjoyed the aunts (you will know what I'm talking about once you jump in) and their outlook on life. I think every good rom-com and every good story needs some elderly people with some sage advice. It is a definite plus when they throw humor in there as well. Overall, Eliza Gordon put together a humorous book full of heart and family and laughs and I truly enjoy the combination.
This is the third in the Revelation Cove series by Eliza Gordon. I was completely in love with Must Love Otters as well as Hollie Porter Builds a raft and this book maintains that same charm and humour.
Sam is easily my favourite character in the novel, as he is humorous, honourable and downright charming. Plus it’s so hard for me to resist a ginger with freckles. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a guy who blushes.
Frankie is a character I just wanted to give a good talking to though. Believe in yourself girl, talk to someone about your problems and for god’s sake do not run away from the hot guy. He likes you, a lot.
This was an enjoyable read, from beginning to end, and man, the events at the wedding almost downright ridiculous but so comedic. I found myself laughing more than once.
Lessons learned: Maybe archery isn’t the best pre-wedding activity. Or…maybe it IS the best pre-wedding activity. That’s up to the reader to decide.

I liked the first in this series, was meh on the second and thought I'd complete the series just to finish it off. There were so many problems with this. The storylines were contrived and didn't really get off the ground. The main character was an emotional wreck, full rage one moment, crying the next, insecure and dramatic. But what really was a problem for me was the narrator. She sang every sentence and it was distracting and her inflection didn't always suit the situation. There were a few times when I wondered if I had read this book whether I'd have liked it more and it's quite possible. But, there is no chance that I'll grab a print copy to find out.
Let's put it this way, I was eager to get to the end of this book so I could start at book about cultural genocide and the abuse of indigenous children. That should indicate how much I disliked this book.
Back to Revelation Cove in Canada. This time with Francesca, an animal lover and pet photographer filling in for her brother to shoot a wedding. Not just any wedding, the chaotic-bridezilla-revenge kind. The first half of the book is this fabulous wedding and the chaos, along with feelings times a million, and comedy like none other. The next half is more specific to Frankie, her family and her past. Loved how smooth the story played out, letting it happen naturally. Pets, kids and old people should be in every book, always something to laugh and learn from. Although the location connects this book to the rest of the series, it can be read as a standalone. I received an adv copy from the author, my review was given voluntarily.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Eliza Gordon has done it again, crafting a wonderfully quirky love story in the now-familiar setting of Revelation Cove. I absolutely adored this book. The characters draw you in, and if you've read her previous books Must Love Otters and Hollie Porter Builds a Raft, you get see some familiar faces! I love that her books are like a little oasis away from the world, where I can take a break from the stresses of life and watch someone else have a comically unfortunate time 😂 Her characters have such unique voices. Frankie was so refreshing as a character. All around a fantastic read! Highly recommend!
Dear Dwayne, With Love is hilarious and it led me to the Revelation Cove series. I’ve read them all. This first half of this quirky little ditty is set at a wedding at the lodge, but then we follow Frankie home to her life in Portland. These are good books to read after heavy stuff, like WWII historical fiction, that I force on my poor brain. Eliza Gordon writes perfectly relatable and fun characters who think the thoughts we are all thinking and they occasionally say them out loud. I highly recommend this author and her books.
I didn't enjoy this installment of the series as much as I did the first two books. I really missed Hollie and Ryan being the main characters. However, Frankie seemed to pull her weight enough for me to still give it 4 stars. It was a good book still set at Revelation Cove. I enjoyed at Frankie tried to prove herself to her brother that she could take just as good pictures as he could. I loved the budding relationship of her and Sam and hearing all about their past. I was a bit confused at parts. It seemed to jump around a little bit, especially at the end.
This book took me a bit longer to read. Not for lack of story but just life in general. But so glad I have now finished it. I loved it. The characters, the setting, the story just everything. I even cried a little. I would love to see a second book of either Gabe and Lainie or a book of when they were kids, or even one of Bryony. I will definitely be picking up more books by this author.
Frankie is a bit of a hot mess in this one. Through out the book she encounters quite a few life changes, some good, some iffy and some have the ability to throw her life into chaos. I like what Frankie learns along the way, the people that guide, especially the aunties, and how by the end of the book she is finally really happy with her life.
I liked the full cast of characters and appreciated that this book (first in over 50 read this year) nearly brought a full tear to my eye - I'm a tough one. I read this #3 before 1 & 2 but that was OK. The aging "Aunts" add that smoothing balance to the sarcastic & mental banter of Frankie (F-Stop).
A pure treasure of a book! Frankie’s life feels so parallel to mine and she made me feel like I had a friend in the world to relate to. Tons of quirky and funny parts and a dash of beautiful romance to keep you wanting more ❤️
This was a fun read, I always enjoy Eliza Gordon's books. Frankie was one of my favorite characters of hers so far; I could really relate to her personality and how much she loved dogs. I also thought her romance with Sam was sweet.
A wonderful romcom by Eliza Gordon with awesome banter between the 2 main characters. It slowed down a little around 65% but otherwise an awesome weekend read.
The book was ok. The chemistry between Frankie and Sam wasn’t like with Hollie and Ryan like in the first couple books of this series. I think that’s why I couldn’t get into it as much as the others.
There’s nothing like an idyllic island getaway, but to Frankie Hawes, it’s an absolute nightmare. She’d much rather be photographing dogs than bridezillas, especially when that bridezilla is marrying your ex and she’s expecting your world-class photographer brother to be shooting her wedding.
The only thing that’s going to save this wedding shoot and Frankie’s nerves is a blast from the past: Sam McKenzie, wedding guest and childhood best friend that basically went incommunicado for a decade. But with the help of Sam, and a couple of hilariously fabulous nonagenarian twins, Frankie just might be able find her confidence to pull off this wedding shoot after all.
F-Stop is exactly what I’ve come to expect from Eliza Gordon: a delightful, funny, with just a hint of steamy, feel-good rom-com with lots of heart and laughter that I’ll want to re-read again and again.
I adored getting to see some of my favorite characters from Hollie and Ryan’s stories and hope there’s more from all of the Revelation Cove crew in the future!
Even though it didn't have enough of Ryan and Piper (the main characters from the first two books in the series) or of Revelation Cove, this book ended up being my favorite in the series. It just flowed better and kept my interest a lot more. I didn't find myself wanting to skip entire paragraphs. This book focuses on Frankie, a woman who is trying to find her own place in her family and the world. She ends up in Revelation Cove to photograph a wedding so it was fun to see some familiar characters again. It was a cute story, but it also had a good message.
