The illustration is everything and I love the two very different rat characters portrayed as campers.
One of them has endless ideas when it comes to camping and is rather adventurous while the other is younger and is a bit uncomfortable and scared staying outside the house.
I can so relate with them talking of times as of now.
And it's so much fun to read out loud the lines.
Such a beautiful book.
The only thing I could think of what would make the book better is the ending.
Interesting take on an old tale - Country Mouse; City Mouse. This time the two mice are campers. One loves his tent and the other his RV. They try both ways and are miserable while camping in the other's style. At the end, they realize that they can still camp together and each stay in their own place side by side. Charming illustrations capture the adventure and love. Small font size makes it a bit difficult to read.
Beautiful tale explaining both about enjoying nature and accepting each others differences Thomas and Harvey both enjoy different things in camping. But unfortunately, neither of them like the way the other does it. How do they sort it out? Lovely illustrations and beautiful message for children. Good read for both adults and children.
The idea behind this is fine and the illustrations are effective, but the language is humdrum. I think the author would benefit from a poetry workshop, not to write a rhyming book but rather to become more aware of the music of beautiful prose.
Beautiful pictures! The story is great for kids comparing the different experiences with tent vs. RV camping while still emphasizing all the fun experiences you can have in nature. It has a nice ending as well setting an example that it is ok to disagree on things.
The story was spoiled by the fact you couldn’t enlarge the text. It was too small to read. It did however have pop ups but they blocked the beautiful illustrations. I was a bit disappointed and not at all sure what the moral of this story was.
Winter was over and all the animals that hibernated were looking forward to getting out. Thomas Tent Mouse wanted to invite his cousin Harvey RV Mouse over. They were going camping. The 2 of them finally reached their campsite. They set up the tent and Thomas cooked dinner. At night Harvey got nervous and scared. The next trip they stayed in a RV.
What was their next camping trip like?

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary) lion storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational presentation, mouse camping trip movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

A pleasant retelling of the City and Country Mouse fable. In this modern-day picture book, two cousins both love to camp but have different views on how to do so.
Thomas takes to the road with his tent, while his cousin, Harvey likes the comforts of his RV camper. Thomas convinces Harry to go camping with him in his tent. Both enjoy their daytime adventures but Harvey hates the inconveniences of sleeping in the tent. Next time, they try it with Harvey's RV. Thomas does not think sleeping in an RV affords the real feel of a camp experience. Will they continue to disagree or can they find a way to agree to disagree?
This is a cute picture book with a lesson worth remembering. My only complaint is that the small size of the text is a bit difficult for the beginning reader that it is targeted for to read easily. Recommended for beginning and elementary school age readers, particularly camping enthusiasts.
What a cute book. I loved reading the adventures of Thomas and Harvey and their love of camping although Thomas and Harvey’s style of camping is completely different, one loving a tent and the other loving his RV. This book reminds me of Stuart Little, a book I read as a child, and all of his adventures. Loved the illustrations. This is a great book for 3 to 6-year-olds.
Dear Harvey and Thomas the sweet adventurous, camping Mice. This story is joyous and the drawings are delightful. The little ones were filled with wonder reading this storybook. Harvey holding a breakfast tray and Thomas playing the guitar are two favourite scenes in the book. Thank you Loretta and Katherine.
A camping version of The City Mouse and Country Mouse
It has been years since I read any version of the City Mouse and the country mouse. This version was sweet and illustrations were wonderful. I would suggest a bigger and bolder print font.
the hubby and i have camped first in a text Kodak brand ... loved it ... then a Roadtrek van and a Casita ... so we know both camper and tents. depends on what you are looking for? so fun, camping is great. illustrations are fun. great read.
I like reading children’s book from time to time. They are short stories that are cute and unique. I like this one because it shows how two mice who can get along but have different opinions one one thing.
The Tent Mouse and the RV Mouse by Loretta Sponsler – This was a freebie! Personally, I’m hoping that there are no mice at all when I go camping! Cute story about liking different things and having new experiences! Happy Reading!
This is a super cute story about two cousins who both enjoy camping ... just in different ways ... each for valid reasons. As the story concludes, "It's okay to like different things."
I like the original better... but... if kids learn the lesson that you don't have to like the same things as your friends, relatives, etc. - it's okay- then, it's okay.
