A ROUGH FRONTIERSMAN Paid to escort Raven Delacour out of the Indiana Territory to the civilized East, Eben St. Claire had no doubt he could fulfill his bargain with Raven's dying father... until he met the ravishing spitfire who would be his charge. He'd have to tame her, but he never expected that, in her innocence, she would claim him body and soul.
A TENDER TEMPTRESS Raven had the kind of beauty that could bring a man to his knees and a temper that could make him want to run for cover. As anger flared between them she hotly denied her own desires, vowing not to surrender to a passion that promised the heights of ecstasy... and a journey filled with perils more dangerous than the untamed land.
I'm not sure how I was lead to this book but it sounded a lot better than it was, IMO. The author writes that even though this was originally published in the early 90's that she had completely revamped it and made it better for today's romance readers since she was releasing this in e-format. That wasn't really true. Maybe she did update it but it still felt old. And really the story was slow and boring. The story was a good idea but the way it all played out didn't work for me. This couple was hot and cold, especially him, and it got boring. Yes he wants her but he won't keep her, but he still wants her but she's an innocent and he won't keep her, but he wants her and he makes her want him but he knows he won't keep her... on an on. I never grew to like him, either of them really. It's too bad because the end of the story incorporates the brother Jace and he sounds like his story might be more interesting, however, I'm not going to fall for that! I was not into this book and I'm not going to believe that the second book will suddenly be better than the first.
As I read some of the other reviews, I am amused at the type of personalities an author chooses to instill in the characters. One reader was upset over the author's main female character, Raven's disposition. Her bratty attitude. If it weren't for the difference in personalities, the book would take on a different "flavor", if you will. Whether I personally dislike a character of not, it is the author's prerogative to the mold the character's personality to make them either compliment or conflict with other characters so the story has a theme and fluency. With that said, I have the book a 5 star rating because it contained the components I like in western romances. A thumbs up!👍
I disliked that a lustful 33 year old man of the world took advantage of a young 19 year old naive and vulnerable girl until he wore her down and then continued to use her until it appeared he tired of her. I'm sorry that she became dependent on him but I liked that he came to his senses and married her.
Hard to put down. Been a while since I read a full book in less than a day. Eben and Raven were 2 awesome characters in this story. From their first meeting, their antagonism, falling in love, all the trials and triumphs. I loved reading this book
I really liked this story of two strong characters that were made for each other. Of course they had to learn about their love the hard way. Love did conquer all, life and love are wonderful. An exciting good book, thank you, Jack.
Absolutely love the h & H who have so much chemistry & a very volatile relationship. Unfortunately you do not know until the end of the book that there is a follow-up novella that can be purchased. But the book does end with a HEA.
All's well that ends well and this story is proof of that. This was a fine story of adventure and love and romance and jealousy. I thoroughly enjoyed this story as I am sure you will too.
I enjoyed the book very much, the only thing was I felt it ended to quickly. I would have enjoyed some interaction between the hero and his brother besides the one time toward the end.
The book was great until the last two chapters that didn't cover much detail! We needed interaction with Eben and his brother and his brother's family, and details about how Zeb accepted that his son-in-law killed his daughter.
I was hot and cold on this book. I enjoyed reading it, but some things bothered me. I wasn't always sure where the story was going, and the age difference between the hero and heroine was a little icky. But overall it was a good story with a solid romance.
So many twists... that keep you from turning down the book... but I would prefer something less complicated... glad that Reven found someone who loved her and that Even found a place to call home.
It's funny and sometimes frustrated but in a way the couple are sweet and cute cause they are still young. well for the female character. I'm not a spoiler so I will just leave it at that.
