What a great twist on vampires!!! Soon after vampires come out of hiding theirs a virus that hits the human population and kills most of the human race and those that don't die become vampyr or become blood slaves to the vampires. The story starts with the two main characters mason a loner who has been with a group of human survivors and is basically the leader of this rag tag group, but he is very different. Mason's hiding a beast inside and it's getting harder to contain. When his group gets caught by a team of vampires he and they are taken to a place where humans are bought for many purposes from blood slaves to guardians and other needs. Are other main character Lord danika the vampire Lord of her own coven and the only female to be a lord. And she's barely holding on to power after almost being killed by her minion xenock who got rouge syndrome and tried to kill her. This time danika was only getting blood slaves and when she goes to pick them out she's drawn to mason and he to her. Danika doesn t know what it is about mason, but she sense's that theirs something he's hiding. Such great chemistry between these two!!! It was a hot sexy read and I loved watching it unfold.Mason is a total alpha and he knows once he see's danika that she's his!!! But how will danika feel once she learns the truth about mason and can mason control the demon inside to be with the only women he's ever wanted. One of my fave secondary characters is the hot and intense vampyr neeman the Lord's captain of the guard, can't wait for his book!! All around great vampire read!!

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Kensington Books via Net Galley for the purpose of providing an honest review.

4 Stars

This book was different. I enjoy reading books with vampires, werewolves, ghosts, witches, and really anything that falls into the paranormal realm. When a saw this book on Net Galley, I instantly requested it because I was ready for a vampire story. I really expected a run of the mill vampire love story based on the cover and I was okay with that. What I got was a unique take on vampires in a many layered story.

Danika is a vampire lord in the Chicago area. She is the only female vampire lord in the entire country and she heads the company that produces Savor, a bottled blood drink. When humans are found and captured, they are quickly sold into slavery. Mason was with a group of humans out foraging when he was captured. Danika buys Mason at auction to be her protector.

It becomes obvious early on that Mason is not just human but something more. He feels very protective of Danika and takes his role very seriously. Both Danika and Mason are hesitant to act on their feelings towards each other but eventually come together.

This book had some problems. My biggest problem is that Danika purchased Mason. How could Mason ever feel anything towards the person who paid for him and was responsible for his captivity. I just don't see how you overcome the fact that Danika literally OWNS Mason. To be honest I just kind of pushed it aside in my head because the world and society was so different. Danika also starts to realize that there may be other ways to do things by the end of the book.

I thought that the world building was great. It is a very different take on the vampire world and I thought it was done well. The writing was solid. There was enough mystery in the story to keep me going. I was dying to know what Mason really was and also who wanted to harm Danika. The villains were the kind that I love to hate. Overall, I thought it was a solid story.

I would recommend this book to others that enjoy a different take on vampires. These vampire see humans as a commodity so this is not the typical romantic vampire world that is often popular. This is the first book by Rebekah Graniere that I have read and I do plan to continue with this series.

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for providing me with a free copy for a honest review.

I hated it.

Oh, how I love paranormal romance novels. From the cheesy, to the intense forbidden love! What I really love about paranormal romance is the world building, and the magic, and deep history a lot of the characters have. I get sexy vampires, to intense bad boy werewolves or gorgeous fae, I get a little bit of awesomeness with steamy sex scenes!! WOOP WOOP!

I didn't get any of that in this book.

"You would've thought, if I hadn't walked in. You would've made him your lover." His eyes traveled up her bare legs, over her long white blouse, landing on her breasts.

"Yes. No. I don't know" Her body was sticky and her core ached for the touch of a male. She rubbed her head trying to concentrate. "It isn't him that I want, he just happened to be here. It's a flaw I have. I get lonely sometimes."

I don't know where to start with this review. I really want to tell you to avoid this one and be done with it.

The world building was non-existent. I had to guess at things and was lost at times. There are Vampires, vampyrs and vamps. I have no clue which is better, how one becomes a Vampire or vampyr or vamp. No clue. Its been 10 years since the Vampires, vampyrs and vamps have taken over...right? The timeline isn't clear either. All of the other magical beings have fled because they fear the Vampires, vampyrs and vamps. <--This is done on purpose because this is how the new world is referred to.

On top of that, humans are slaves, and the humans are thankful to their vampire Lords for giving them such luxuries. Like being human blood banks, and taking care of their bodies because we never did that before, to having jobs serving these vampires. We are first slaves, with collars and tracking bracelets, then upgrade to minions, were we are given some freedoms and some have to live under certain laws.

Thank you Vampire Lords for thinking of us in such kind ways. The worse part, the humans don't fight back. When they are caught and taken, they are sold to these houses/covens and finally realize they've been living poorly and are so grateful for the opportunity to be a slave or minion.

I HATE Danika Chekov...oh wait, I'm sorry, LORD Danika Chekov. The only redeeming point, she's the only female Lord in all the U.S. I was excited about that, thinking, YEAH, she will be badass and strong and not give a fuck and do what is right. Nope, didn't happen.

Humans were humans. She felt bad for what they'd been through but they'd brought it on themselves. She'd heard stories about how the humans now lived and she assumed that though they were technically slaves, they enjoyed being brought into the service of Vampires. Being given the luxuries that their rural camps lacked. Like Matthew. He enjoyed being a house blood slave.

Yes, I love that you take my blood against my will.

I would NEVER...EVER...pay $10 million dollars for a man. ONLY, if said man was my son, and since I don't have one...wouldn't do it.

Mason is...human?? I don't know, and it takes about 80% to find out what exactly he is and when we do..it's horrible. Now, the idea of these tattoos telling what and who he is, and how long he has been alive is pretty cool. That in itself has so much potential to be great. And when he transforms to this beast, I thought...FINALLY, some badass fighting!!!

NOPE..didn't happen.

What do you call a love-triangle with four people?? A love-square? That's what is going on here. Mason, the somewhat human, male #1. Neeman, Vampyr??..I never did get that straight, male #2. Lord Gason, Vampire nasty as fuck, male #3. Xenock, vamp that goes rouge and supposedly dead ex, male #4.

I just can't deal. I hated this book.

This one was a total fail for me. I don't know why others loved it and I didn't, but if you want steamy hot scenes, amazing world building and awesome characters...don't read this book. Read something else, and then recommend it to me. PLEASE!

It’s been a decade since the outbreak of V2000 and everything went horribly wrong. Vampires are no longer hiding in the shadows, but with the virus comes a high price: most humans are turned into a mutated Vampire offshoot called vamps. True, pureblood humans are a fast dwindling commodity and even though they have a synthetic blood that they can survive on, Vampires crave warm sweet blood straight from the tap.

Danika Chekov is the only female Vampire Lord in America. She’s young, too. So of course, the older male Vampire Lords try to make her feel inferior. But Danika is made of sterner stuff. She may be going through a rough patch and someone may or may not be trying to kill her, but she will not bow down to anyone. So she purchases Mason, a human swept up by a slaver crew. Their attraction to each other is undeniable. But Mason isn’t what he seems and Danika’s world is about to get very complicated.

Bad timing on my part, but I just finished a Vampires-Take-Over-The-World book and it sucked. So, I went into this one with great reluctance and was immediately sucked in. Hehe I said sucked in. Like blood…oh, nevermind. Anyway, the characters are awesome, the world is complicated, and the mystery is twisty. My only complaint is the terminology for the Vampires, vampyr and vamps confused the fuck out of me for far too long. It wasn’t explained very well or I just didn’t get it. I’m not sure which. Anyway, Mason is definitely not human. I’m not giving anything away with this observation. You’ll see it in the opening chapter. But what he is…is something cool. I love this story and can’t wait to read more in this series.

Ok so I have read some of the other reviews on this book and I see some people have a hard time figuring out how to compare this book to the other works of art out there. Personally I just love to read so I go with the flow, but if I had to put it into a catergory I would say Underworld meets Daybreak. I recieved this book as an ARC from netgalley for my honest review.

This book to me started a little slow but when you get pass the first ten pages its non stop suspense over what will, may or could happen. The chemistry between Danika and Mason was undeniable. Danika must uphold herself to a certain standard and that standard does not include her wanting to mate with a slave that she purchased for a crazy amount of money. Mason knows that he wants to mate with Danika but for an unknown reason (no spoilers from me!) he has to deny the attraction to her.

The sexual tension was mind blowing and when they finally gave in it was explosive! Then the story gets intense because now the relationship is no longer slave and owner its man and woman, protected and protector, lover and loved. I felt like separate they were strong but together they were unbeatable.

One thing I will say is I spent the whole book trying to figure out what paranormal creature or human hybrid Mason was and I swore I figured it out, but believe me when I say you will be very surprised. Goodness knows I was. Very good read, don't give up on it and you will be very satisfied. Great job Rebekah R. Ganiere definitely nothing else out there like this.

Danika Chekov is the only female Vampire Lord in America. Her mother and father have died and left the clan in her hands. Danika must prove to her Uncle and the other Vampire Lords that she has what it takes to keep everything under control

Mason is captured and sold as a human guardian slave to protect Danika. He cant help but want more from Danika and knows that he must stay away from her or create a situation that he knows Danika does not need at this time.

Together Danika and Mason work together to try and figure who is creating trouble in her land. But can they battle their hearts and the Vampires who would do anything to keep them apart?

This was an interesting spin on the Vampire world. Vampires rules with a clan mentality and humans are basically servants.
Danika is a Vampire Lord - she inherited the position after her parents' deaths and is struggling to keep a grip on the empire her father built.
Mason is a human she purchases as a bodyguard - partly because of an unexplained pull to him.
Once he's in her home it's inevitable that they're drawn even closer. But Danika and Mason are both keeping secrets. Secrets that could endanger - or save - the other.
This was a really good read. I'm anxious to see what she does in the follow up books.

This book started out a little iffy for me, but after the second or third chapter I was drawn in and couldn’t seem to get it out of my head.
I had to know the truth, I had to know what Mason is, and all I can say is OMG I need more.
Vampaires take over the world, what will your roll as a human be? Can/will you survive?
I need the next book

Holy cow, this took me a seriously long time to read. Amazon.com says its only 267 pages but I would have bet my next paycheck that it was closer to 400. I don't know what it was about this book but it was tough for me to finish. But since I do it for you all... here goes! ;)

Lord Danika Chekov, our heroine, is some kind of vampire...lord. Ugh, obviously she's a vampire lord, it's in her damn name. But I dare you to try and explain the hierarchy in this book. I DARE YOU! I know she runs a coven in Chicago and I think it's the only one in Chicago? Or the biggest? Her parents died and they "left" it to her? So is she like a Queen? Or is it because she's rich? I wasn't sure. I think it took me about 70% of the way through the book before I even started to warm up to her. Maybe it's SUPPOSED to be like that. I mean, she calls herself an ice queen so maybe I was supposed to be on the fence about her. On the other hand, she has a lot of issues that modern day career women have: not being taken seriously because of their gender, needing to do things 2x better and 2x faster to get the same respect that a man would, etc. So just by the nature of my gender, I felt something for her. But it wasn't anything powerful. I just wanted her to kill more people than she did.

Mason seemed pretty sexy. But somewhere in the author's description of him, Dave Bautista popped into my head and I couldn't get him out. And these days, I can't think of Dave Bautista without him having blue-gray skin with red highlights. Yikes. Nevertheless, I loved Mason. I was DYING to know what he really was. He tells people that he's human but the reader knows right away that he may be a lot of things but human ain't one of them! I kind of had my suspicions of what he was but in a world filled with vampires and fae, who knows what will come crawling out of the woodwork next? I didn't really ever understand why Mason wanted to help humans who were on the run from vampires but I was glad he did. He came across as a loyal friend and fierce warrior and I couldn't help but love him.

I'm not comfortable saying whether or not Danika and Mason had chemistry. They weren't even in the same room together until 40% of the way through the book. The first appearance of Sexy Time was around the 60% mark and it was fast, wild and slightly unremarkable (since it was so fast). I don't notice chapters so much while reading my Kindle but it had to be within the last 5 chapters that I finally found out what Mason was. Since Danika was required to find a suitable mate, I was hoping that Mason's species would be seen as higher than the vampire. I'm not sure if I should be glad or disappointed because I wasn't sure if he was higher or lower. Mostly, it felt like the vampires looked at him like he was neither and that he was more just, other. Well, other and seriously dangerous. But I think that's going to be a good thing for them in the future!

I thought this was a pretty decent book. The writing was excellent and the pacing REALLY picked up towards the end. It was a lot of fun and excitement in the last few chapters. But I was expecting/hoping for more of a romance and I don't feel like "romance" would be the first word I'd use to describe this book. I think this would be an awesome read for anyone who likes a dystopian futuristic novel involving supernatural creatures. There is some Sexy Time so if you aren't into that, this may not be for you. But if you like your characters to get hot and heavy right away... or even halfway through the book, you may find yourself a little bored and wondering what it all means. Keep in mind that this is the first book in a series and the author has MAJOR world building to do. Normally, I can handle plenty of world building but here, it was either too much or it wasn't explained enough for me. I still am not sure the difference between a vampire, a vampyr and a vamp. And they ARE different and the difference is important. I probably won't continue on with the series but it was fantastically written and would be great for a different audience than myself.

This review and more can be seen at http://gothicmoms.blogspot.com/

Set in a scene similar to that of the movie Daybreak with even more twists and turns that will have readers glued to the page and anxious to see what happens next. Reign of the Vampires is an Urban Fantasy novel that touches on the topics of prejudice, racism(specism), hatred and fear. Vampires are now the rulers of the world. Not only are humans almost at the point of extinction, but the majority that are left are nothing more than slaves. While most of them might be living quite comfortably, there is nothing like having your freedom.

Lord Danika Chekov is not only the youngest Coven Lord, but also the only female. In a world of where most of the men are one hundred years of age or more, to say that some of them are still set in there old fashioned ways where women were not seen as rulers in the slightest, could prove to be a deadly understatement. And to keep her place in this new world proving her worth may not be good enough. A fact she learns the hard way when it is demanded of her to pick a mate. While their are plenty of males for her to choose from that are suitable for her needs, both her heart and body are drawn to her guardian, Mason. A mysterious male slave that she knows is much more than human, though not exactly what, since he is not a vampire her ruling class will never allow such a mating to happen. Though if Danika cannot find out who has been releasing rogues within her territory and someone out to take her life, that may be the very least of her worries.

Mason has spent centuries living in solitude, away from his own kind, vampires and humans alike. Until a group of renegade humans take him in and one fatal trip for supplies puts them on a path that ends with his ultimate undoing. When he finds himself once again a slave for the Vampires, he wants nothing more than to escape. Up until his new master walks through the door and he sees it is the female he felt drawn to from the moment their eyes met. Being her guardian is not something he ever planned, but the longer he is around her, the more he realizes just who and what she is to him, and so does the thing that lives inside of him. Keeping ahold of his secret has now become more important than ever, for if anyone finds out who he truly is, Danika's life could be in jeopardy. Though with the dangers she ends up facing, unleashing that which lives inside of him may be her only hope.

Reign of the Vampires is one of the most original vampire novels I have read in a long while, one that will have readers guessing up until the very end; Who and what is Mason? Who is behind the rogue attacks? What really happened to Danika's parents'? An edge of your seat thrilling, chilling ride. Lust, love, blood, violence, betrayal, intrigue and plenty of mystery, all the qualities of a true vampire novel. Even though this may be only the first book in this series', it certainly does not have the slow feel of one, and gives readers enough information to know exactly what is, and has been, going on. A true must-read for real vampire lovers.

I was hoping to like this more than I did. The blurb written about it was interesting and I felt it had a lot of potential.

But that's all it had, potential.

The world building needed to be stronger. How about an explanation of the differences between a Vampire, vampyr and a vamp? Instead of hints here and there. I don't want to look anywhere but in the book as to an explanation as to who was what and what was going on. Write an intro chapter about Vampires coming out and the virus killing all these people.. something!

The story just went nowhere at points.
Why is the author not building up the passion between Mason and Nika more so than she did?
Half the time I had no idea where the story was going and then suddenly things happened and I was thoroughly confused.
The story bounced all over the place, there was so much going on that I just didn't get it.

OH! And the worst part ever is having a romance novel build up to a climax where the couple consummate the relationship and YOU DON'T GO INTO DETAILS when it happens! Give us the details!

Stear clear of this book.

What a new and exciting look into a futuristic world. It is run by Vampires and what is left of the human species are slaves. This book is well written. The author did an excellent job in creating this world with fascinating details that make you feel like the world could exist. Danika and Mason are hot, steamy and strong. There attraction is unique and won’t be denied. I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to see what becomes of this couple and their world. I would say it is a must read if you like a strong female heroine who just happens to be a vampire or if you enjoy a storyline that you just can’t seem to put down until you have completed it. Than this is the one!!

I saw the blurb and I was totally curious about this story that seemed to blend the two genres of paranormal romance and dystopian together. Paranormals used to live in the world secretly alongside humans, vampires come out about their existence, humans freak and go on extermination spree, someone unleashes a virus that kills off a ton of humans and turns a few into vampire-human hybrids and society is reborn with the vampires in control and humans as slaves. Yeah, it was a lot to sink my teeth into and there was even more background stuff coming out than that along with a lovely bit of suspense and some plot twists too. The part that intrigued me was good and the hero just captivated me, but I confess that it did suffer a bit from 'first book in a series' syndrome. I really had to pay attention to all the details about the world of the vampires or I'd have been hopelessly lost trying to distinguish between 'vampires', 'vamps', 'vampyres' and 'rogue vampires' since these terms are not synonymous.

The story opens when Mason and the band of humans with him have entered the vampire town to scavenge for food and supplies. It has been several years since the virus and the vampire takeover and there are very few free humans left. The human bands living out away from civilization are practically wild creatures now. On this last trip, he has a bad feeling and wants to abort, but they need the supplies. Mason was right to be cautious because soon all hell breaks loose when slavers pounce. He tries to protect the humans, but its too late. He and a few others are captured. He has to continue to play his part even though just the thought of vampires elicits his hatred since he had been captured by one before that killed his mother and tried to kill him.

Danika Chekov knows she needs to do something about her situation. She let herself feel for her last bloodslave and he sickened from bloodlust and nearly killed her. Ever since, she has not been able to eat not even from one of her house slaves. She knows she made an error in judgment that she couldn't afford to make since she is a newly appointed heiress to her dead parents business and Lord of her coven. She is the youngest and only female Lord in America and needs to prove to her own people and the other Lords that she has what it takes to do the job. There is only one solution. She must buy a bloodslave and bond him to her. She must not forget that she is vampire and remember the slave is far beneath her. After looking over the slaves, Danika sees a gentle human that will make a nice assistant, but it is the untamed dangerous one that calls to her. She has never felt such a connection or scented blood that attracts her so strongly. She will have Mason no matter what even if it means antagonizing another Lord that she can't afford to have as an enemy.

Mason knows the dangers of being sold as a slave into a vampire household especially as a bloodslave. His secret would be out quick and that would be catastrophic. He has stayed hidden amongst the humans for so long. He has to escape at the first opportunity. But the red-haired female vampire caught his attention and her scent drives him wild. When it is to her that he is sent as a guardian and protector, he is torn between the need to escape and the desire to stay with her.

Danika has real concerns like the troubles with another coven lord, the sightings of rogue vamps gone over to bloodlust and getting her newly turned assistant settled in, but it is her attraction to Mason and desire for his blood that stirs her most and keeps her distracted. She senses that he is no ordinary human and he has secrets. He is a force that she is just realizing that she has no control over. Who is really the master here?

Alright, so this one was a curiosity with its Master/slave society type setting with pureblood vampires at the top of the food chain all the way down to the lowly human with no rights of their own at the bottom. The vampires are power hungry types and the really powerful ones that run the covens vie for even more power that caused a great deal of intrigue in the story which I enjoyed.

The intrigue was an easy solve for me as I figured out the villains and their motives nearly from the moment they were introduced. Their plots made for the big action scene at the end which was pretty impressive because of the hero's big reveal at that point, but for most of the book there's not a lot of action when I felt that more would have been a good thing. There is a lot of time spent on set up stuff which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it caused for quite a drag on the pace.

I felt it needed more action also because I found that the vampires didn't feel any more dangerous than the average big business moguls. I thought when I saw vampires that I would see cold, lethal 'top of the food chain' predators particularly with Danika because she is the lord of her coven. Most of the book is focused on Danika getting her blood supply or so it seemed. She spent a lot of time passed out or weak from not eating or craving Mason's blood. The other half of the time she was busy at being busy. There were no exciting action scenes or scenes for romance development. I started skimming early on. Other than the big scene at the end when the bad guys finally strike. Now that series of scenes were captivating.

But about the characters. First the heroine. Danika did a lot of wishing and posturing, but she really came across to me as a young girl shuffling around in her dad's big shoes. None of the real movers and shakers took her seriously. And how could they or even the reader since she never does anything impressive. I don't mind a damsel in distress per se, but not when she's supposed to be the big bad fearless leader. Mason thought she was just down right cute when she stomped her foot and tried to sound large and in charge.

Mason's character development on the other hand and his activities and dialogues just made the scenes he was in sparkle. He was a sexy alpha male that made me weak at the knees right alongside Danika and left no doubt who was really in charge of things. Through most of the book, he struggles with something he calls the 'beast' within and the reader knows that he isn't an ordinary human, but its not until later that the full awesome truth comes out. Mason was the very best part of the story for me.

As to the romance, here again, I was underwhelmed. It was a fated mates style piece so the romance relied almost solely on that insta-attraction. I don't mind that trope, but I do need to be given something more to the interaction to make it convincing. Even the passionate moments are a series of steamy interruptions whether by one of them pulling back or by a timely interruption. I needed something to make me believe in them as a couple and never really got that. Now to be fair, maybe things develop further in the next book. We shall see.

So to summarize, I was into the story enough to look forward to where things are going. There were several unanswered questions there as well as that danger that Mason warned about. The hero's character was well developed and his part in the story just made it sizzle. However, I needed a stronger heroine, crisper plot and a more developed romance that would have taken it from mildly enjoyable to riveting. Those who enjoy a blending of romance genres like this paranormal and dystopian piece should give it a try.

My thanks to Kensington Group and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

If I could give this book 10 stars I would. Rebekah has an awesome story-line and a devilish thick plot. It is actually my first book by Rebekah but I see many, many more in my reading future and a new Author to follow.

Mason is a man of many secrets one that he has kept hidden for 500 years. During this time he has placed himself within the human population and has stayed hidden from all vampires. That is until he was caught by the slavers.

As of the death of her parents Danika was handed over her fathers very successful business witch produced Savor a synthetic drink to replace blood donors as the humans have all but disappeared. Danika had also replaced her father as the Lord over the Chicago Clan.

Danika had gone to the auction house to preview the slaves coming up for auction. Through a strategic business deal Danika was able to get Lord Garon to pull his $10 Million bid and Danika was able to purchase Mason, But she had made any enemy of Lord Garon.

Danika had sent Mason to the Elite Guards for training, as she needed him for her personal guard. She had not told anyone that someone was trying to kill her. When Mason was brought to Danika neither of the could explain nor fight the attraction they had for each other.

Mason was stressed out to the max. He knew Danika was his mate and he would do anything to protect her even if it cost him his life. And when he did everything would explode.

Rebekah has been building her story-line steadily and the plot that's continuing to thicken is so amazing. There is so much sexual tension and fear. You can feel it pressing in your neck, shoulders and back. It is no longer just a story but something your apart of. Rebekah Has pulled the reader right into her world.

My advice: you must pick up a copy. I left out so much violence, passion and death. But you know not how, why or who?

I was given a copy for an honest review.Reign of the Vampires

Being the only female Vampire Lord in America isn’t easy and Danika is forced to purchase a human guardian but their passion for each other threatens everything and when Mason’s true nature is revealed the results could be devastating in this thrilling dystopian paranormal romance.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of suspense, excitement and romance. The author brings her fascinating new world to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and the well orchestrated builds up curiosity and ensures that the reader wants to know every last detail while the strong captivating characters grab the reader’s attention and draw them deeper into the story.

Danika’s attraction for her new guardian puts her quite a predicament, he is supposed to be her slave but their desires continue burn hotter with every page turned. The reader can’t help but get caught up in their relationship as they try to fight it, each for their own reasons, especially as Mason’s secrets could have such a devastating effect on everyone. The reader can’t help but fall for Mason’s strong but deadly persona and of course they really want to know his secrets as much as Danika does and they can’t help but admire Danika’s strength and courage of maintaining her father’s legacy in this world where males would surely love to take it away and both characters personal growth adds lot of depth to the story.

The author has created a fascinating futuristic world with some very interesting elements and full of excitement and surprising twists to keep the reader’s on their toes. With lots of intriguing characters and a whole new world to explore, the reader finds that they are soon lost inside until they have read every last word and I for one can’t wait to find out what happens next.

I really enjoyed reading this book. As I don't like to give spoilers I'm only going to touch on what I consider highlights. One, this is not your ordinary vampire book, the closest I can describe the background of the book is that vampires now are rulers and humans (what is left of them) are either slaves or on the run. This story also touches on prejudice not only between races but that old one, sexism.

The story includes strong sexual attraction between a ruling female vampire, Danika, and a slave, Mason, she purchases to be trained as a guardian. She is beautiful and he is not only handsome but is imposing in size and strength.

Someone is out to harm her and in trying to protect her Mason exposes a long held secret.
Find out if that secret will keep them apart and maybe even destroy what's left of this new world.

The only reason it took me several days to finish this fascinating story is that I had out of town family visiting and could only read when everyone had gone to bed; I tried but sleep kept creeping up on me. The book was worth the wait. I highly recommend this book to all who love a really good paranormal story.

Book one of The Society series.

In Reign of the Vampires, humans are a rarity and are slaves in an elaborate stratified society run by Vampires at the top, vampyrs next and vamps at the bottom. An outbreak 15 years ago turned most humans into vamps and caused human civilization to fail. Vampires took over and rebuilt society.

The book opens on a group of humans trying to eke out a living on the run. They are forced to steal to survive and are constantly pursued by slavers. Mason, one of the strongest in the group, has an anger problem. He’s not “just” human and has a raging beast inside that he must constantly calm to avoid others finding out about him. When his group is captured by slavers, they’re all at great risk, particularly Mason with his secret.

Danika is a vampire lord in charge of the Midwest area and her family’s corporation. She feels that her position is precarious because she is young, the only female lord, and unrated. In addition past mistakes have made some question her rule. As the book opens she is in poor health because she hasn’t been eating or sleeping.

When Danika tours an upcoming slave auction she meets Mason and plans to buy him and some others in his group. She’s intrigued by Mason, immediately realizing that he’s not not a normal human. Meanwhile, Mason’s beast awakens for Danica, despite his hatred of Vampires.

At first I wasn’t sure I would like this book because the tempo slowed after the capture of the humans as the Vampire world was set up and explained. This was intermixed with mysterious clues about Danika and Mason’s secrets so that it kept things interesting. After the backstory and world was established the plot really picked up and I was hooked. Once I got into it, I enjoyed the book very much and I look forward to reading other books in the series.

I would classify this book as a mystery/paranormal romance based in a dystopian urban setting. There was a lot of world-building, but that is necessary for the first book in a series with such a unique world.

I received a free review copy of this book. My opinions, as always, are my own.

Reign of Vampires pulled me into its depths with the summary. Once I turned to that first page I was hooked. There was no way I was going to be able to lay it down until I had read the last page. I had to know what lay between its cover from one end to the other and I had to know now.

Reign of Vampires is a new and refreshing take on the vampire world. I never could have imagined what lay between the pages no matter how hard I tried. I was happily surprised by what I found between the covers of Reign of Vampires. I have read lots of vampire books before but I can honestly say I have never read one that was anywhere close to Reign of Vampires.

I loved the world and the society that has been created for Reign of Vampires. It is absolutely the best vampire book ever. The world-building is astounding, to say the least. Reign of Vampires has everything I love in a book. I love all of its genres, especially vampire and dystopian. At the moment I would have to say that dystopia is my favorite genre and I have always loved vampire stories, and to mix the two is just absolutely amazing in my book.

Reign of Vampires is filled with twist after twist. They just kept pouring out of the pages. Oh, did I mention secrets? There are plenty of them as well to keep you racing to the end. An end that you will come upon long before you would like. Reign of Vampires is one of those books that you wish would never end. I mean you just want to keep reading forever. I can’t wait to read more in this astonishing world of vampires.

Reign of Vampires is about a female vampire Danika. Danika is the only female vampire lord in America. Danika has to prove herself over and over to keep her position. Being a vampire lord the time has come for Danika to purchase a blood slave. At the action, she lays eyes on a human, Mason whom she can’t seem to resist. Mason has a few secrets of his own that he doesn’t want the vampires to know about.

I highly recommend Reign of Vampires to all vampire and dystopian fans! Grab your copy of Reign of Vampires today for a new adventure into the vampire world!

I’m a big fan of Rebekah’s stories she is in my top 5 best authors and she definitely deserves it. The virus V2000 has turned ordinary humans into vampires and the ones that hadn’t turned are being hunted, the good looking ones are used as breeders and blood slaves and the rest are used as household servants. When the humans are captured they are put into a cage and auctioned off to the highest bidder, Mason helps the humans they raid houses for food medical supplies anything that they are in need of but they think that Mason is human but that’s far from the truth. One night he tries to help the humans escape only to get captured himself and thrown into a cage for auction. Danika is a pure blood vampire she’s taken over her father’s company after his death a Fortune 500 company, she was nearly killed by her lover who was also her assistant and it traumatised her so much that she hasn’t been feeding. Being the lord she has to keep face so it won’t look good if it looks like she is starving, Danika goes to where the humans are kept for auction and the last person she inspects is Mason and they are very attracted to each other so she puts in a bid of 2 million dollars for him. If you want to know more then you will need to get this book and believe me you won’t regret it at all. Fantastic story a 5 plus +++++ ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

You know what I actually really enjoyed this book. This would get a 9 on my scale.

Alright the world building is a bit sparse in places. We get the general idea of a post deadly virus apocalyptic world but a lot I had to fill the blanks in with my own imagination.

However having said that the chemistry between our main characters was really good. There were lots of non starters and yes a few side characters for Mason's competition.

The suspense in not knowing exactly what Mason was was probably the deal breaker for me. It added a lot of suspense to the story and a real unknown element. The portrayal of both characters made sense. Danika is having to fill big boots and will be insecure in places. Mason supports her in ways that make her stronger. And keeping Mason's back story from the reader gives him all the more intrigue. There were a couple places where it was a bit too cliche for me especially at the end where Danika faces her final decision and Mason backs her up by showing them what he is. It was a bit too "peacock opening his feathers and strutting his stuff" for my liking. If the author could have approached it a different way I think it would have played out better.

Would I read any more novels in the same world. Probably yes. I would be intrigued to know how Danika and Mason play out in another book because it almost feels as though they have had their time in the spotlight.

What an enjoyable and captivating book to read!
'Reign of the Vampires' is the first book that I have read from Rebekah R. Ganiere, and I was not disappointed. The story has the right amount of twists and an interesting and totally different spin on vampires.
Very well written, the writing and use of language is smooth and flowing, the pacing is good, it has action, is intriguing with an unusual plot and storyline. The reader is not let down by a mediocre book.
With two unique and interesting main characters who keep the pages full of tension by their attraction to each other, the suspense is thick with this possible romance and sizzling passion.
The reader follows the story of Lord Danika, a vampire Queen and Mason. Who or what is he?
The other characters both good and not so good are interesting in their own right, and there is believable dialogue and good interaction between the different characters.
It also has a plot that mesmerizes the reader until the last page.
The scenes, settings and the characters are very well described in a vivid, colourful, yet realistic manner.
I could not put the book down. Every chapter left me wanting more in this very well written and evolving story. Highly recommended!
Gifted with a copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Fist of all, I am a lifelong lover of vampire books. I have been reading them for at least 45 years, so it's hard to find new ones to love. Did I love this book? In some ways, I did and in others ways, I didn't.

But, I agree with some of the other reviewers that I had a hard time following the story. Vampires, vampyrs, vamps, half vampires? I really never figured out what the difference was between all of these. What was the outbreak that caused the Vampires to be in power and the humans to be their slaves? Why are the humans so complacent and willing to be slaves to the Vampires? These are just a few of the problems that I had with the book.

I also agree that it took most of the book before you find out what Mason really is (and when I found out, I couldn't imagine loving him!). The Beast within Mason that is hinted at from the beginning is much worse than I imagined.

I won't repeat the blurb for the book since that is already available for the potential reader. If you love sexy vampire novels, give this one a chance. It was enjoyable, entertaining, well-written and memorable.

This first book in The Society Series by Rebekah R Ganiere was an entirely different approach to most vampire stories which made it a surprising and very enjoyable read. Yes, the vampires are now the ruling class and hunt humans for slaves and other reasons but that doesn't make them all blood-thirsty and despicable. In fact, Lord Danika is just the opposite. She treats her humans in a much more civilized manner even though they may be used as lowly servants or even the ones who volunteer to be blood donors or guardians. Then there is Mason, who the reader knows is not quite human but not what he actually is until near the end of the book. When Danika and Mason meet all bets are off as they seem to be attracted to each other even though they know in their minds they shouldn't let it happen. But happen it does and then the sparks really start flying, both sexually and emotionally. Underlying their story is another subplot of betrayal and violence against Danika and ultimately everyone in her coven. Who will survive and what will happen next is for the reader to find out in the pages of the book. This is a voluntary review of a free copy of this book from Story Origin.

Boy, the chemistry in this book was hot! That was the first thing I noticed about this book. I loved how Danika and Mason were really drawn together from the beginning. Along with great writing, I also loved how the plot progressed, and one thing I love when it happens: I didn’t see parts of the end coming. I did figure out one of the bad buys, but one really, really surprised me. However, I had a hard time understanding the differences between Vampires, vamps, vampyrs, etc., and to be honest, I’m still not sure. And, sometimes, I was unsure of how and when the society has evolved to how it was now, and the timeline for Danica taking over the coven. But, I was able to push that all aside to really enjoy this unique vampire world. I am eager to read the next one to see what Danica, Mason, William, et al are going to be up to next. If you like something new and unique (and vampires!), give this one a try! Highly recommend! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

Mason and Danika live in two different worlds, but they are both looking for their mate to make them feel complete. Danika is a vampire and is intrigued after meeting Mason and buys him to be her slave and protector. Mason is also immediately drawn to her. Mason looks human on the outside, but he is hiding the beast that lives within him which can be very deadly to vampires. Danika is fighting to keep her coven, male elders think she is not strong enough or capable enough to lead her group. There are some near her that are plotting against her and trying to sabotage her to take over her coven. Danika and her followers are trying to figure out who is behind the attacks and why. Mason and Danika become closer and eventually become mates. I would love to know more about Mason, hopefully the rest of the series gives more information about him.

Excitingly Beautiful

Was sure what to think about when I first started reading the book, because I couldn't see vampires in charge at first in my mind. But soon I got in the ballgame.

I found the way Lord Danika handle her humans was very respectful and wished that other Lord's were the same way.

The way Danika and Mason came together you can just feel the love and the passion just burn up the pages. You can feel their emotions as they are fighting what they are meant to be. I just loved their love story and you can feel them falling in love.

Of course a great story is not complete without a bad guy and some drama. It was a fun mystery trying to figure who was the bad guy in the story. When you learn, you will be like yes...I knew it. But then that will only be if your correct.

You will enjoy this story greatly...

Until Next Time.... Tabi

I was given a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Very excited to receive a copy of this book as I loved what I've read of Rebekah R. Ganiere's Fairelle series of books. And this is one of my favourite genres vampire/supernatural. I was not disappointed.

I enjoyed the book very much. The way it was written, the story line, all the history of the Vampires/humans and I loved most of the characters. I definitely had mixed emotions when reading it. I wanted to read it quickly as I was enjoying it so much and I wanted to know what one of the main characters was hiding, but I also didn't want it to end.

However I was very pleased with the ending and now can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series.

This is pretty intense story and has a darkness to it. Humans messed up. They thought to destroy vampires when they became common knowledge but instead they doomed themselves. Now vampires reign over the world. There are three types of vampire. True vampires that are born, humans bitten and the humans who changed from a virus. It is a little confusing at first but as the story goes it becomes easier to understand. Humans still exist and are fed upon by true and bitten vampires. But they live as slaves or hide and try to survive. Then there is Mason. Who and what he is may change it all. What is evil and good isn’t always easy to tell. Expect plenty of action and danger. The romance is filled with tension and problems.

Danika Chekov is amazing, but she has to fight for the power she deserves. She is the only female Vampire Lord in America. She’s young, and the older male Vampire Lords feel she needs a mate to help her. She is caring and treats everyone well, regardless of their position. The book does start off a bit slow, but once it gets going it does not stop. I was so intrigued by Mason and was unsure of what he truly was, I was definitely surprised. I enjoyed the world the author created, but sometimes it felt like more or less description was needed. Overall the characters are well developed and you can't help but root for Danika to win the fight for what is hers. I recommend you read the book. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Omg just finished the book. Loved loved loved this book. The chemisty between the main characters is great. You can feel the tension and enery coming of the page. I could not put this book down. There is just enough build up and back story to the supprorting characters that you also care about them also. This book left me wanting for more. I can not wait to find how this all ends and what happens to Mason, Danika and William. So glad there are more books. Dying for more. This series is going to be awesome !
