College is just like her old life . . . bleak. Surviving it won't be easy, especially when the girlfriend of the guy she's loved her entire life would rather see her dead. So much for that clean slate. Instead she's constantly looking over her shoulder, watching, waiting and worrying.Lucky for Emma she met The Senator's Son. Zach Walker is the typical rich kid . . . or is he? She isn't supposed to fall for him. She doesn't even know if she can trust him. He is completely tempting and totally out of her league. In The Senator's Son, the good guy rules.
Anna Albo was born and raised in Canada. She’s a prairie girl who loves the city. Anna is second generation Italian-Canadian, which means two things: she has a fiery temper and loves to cook. Both those qualities can be found in her books.
From new adult to chick lit and everything in between, Anna writes contemporary romance and women’s fiction that makes people laugh and love.
When Anna isn’t writing her latest book, she’s blogging about dogs, or healthy living, or enjoying a cup of tea while attempting to create a culinary masterpiece.
3.5/5 stars. The plot was flowing and interesting, it took me a while to finish this book. I started it a long time ago but stopped in the middle. I went back to it a few days ago, and I finally finished it. The characters were great, especially Zach. BUT the main character, Emma, was so annoying most of the time. Gladly, the rest of the characters covered it.
Earlier I had rated this one with 3 stars but I changed it to 1 coz of author's attitude.
I always admire one's ability to write and I appreciate for the effort they put into. I have messaged many authors on Goodreads and I have always received a good and proper response from their side.
This story was on Wattpad and I used to read it quite often, even joined a group to discuss the book, that was how invested I was in the book. But after a while, the story just dragged and made no sense at all and when Anna was asked about it, she chose to be downright arrogant about it saying she will write whatever shit she wants.
Now I don't say that authors should write what readers want them to but it was clear that the story wouldn't go anywhere for a long long time. For example a day in the story will last for a week without anything happening really.
This sucks. Even when you like a book, you want it to go somewhere, maybe end someday without dragging too long. Not soon but yes someday. We have other books to read too. Not going to read anything by the author in the future.
I don't get authors who think they are so amazing, their books are so amazing that no matter what they write, readers will keep on reading them. Dear Anna, you are not really great.
When i first started reading these series they were so good but by the third book the author had completely ruined the story in multiple ways: 1) the main characters are emma and zach. Zach's sister Genie and Emma's dad Paul are now engaged to be married. Many readers have tried to voice their concerns to the author about this plotline but she has blocked all of us and called us 'trolls' on her twitter page. 2) This story is now on radish and is an ongoing story, each chapter barely has the main characters point of view anymore. Its filled with other character's viewpoints, which quite frankly, are too drama filled and messy to connect to. 3) the author has forgotten very important details of some of her characters from the first and second book and it shows throughout the third book. For instance Zach's eye colour is a dark chocolate brown but in one of the recent chapters of the third book, its been miraculously changed to blue. What author makes a mistake like that in her book? In total there are 10 mistakes like these made. One reader tried to point this out to warn future readers but was blocked by the author. 4) this story was originally on wattpad and the second and third books are available to read on radish. After the decline in views because of her decision to have genie and paul be a couple, the author decided to move her first book from wattpad (a free reading platform) to radish (a platform where you either have to wait a day to access a chapter or pay to read each chapter) to make more money. Please invest your time in a good book that is worth the read and has been written by an author who is dedicated and passionate about their work. That is definitely not Anna albo.
Barely average, I didn’t particularly like it. I have it two stars because it was enough to make me finish it-but it was also the fact it was only 300 pages so it wouldn’t take me very long. It’s very difficult to like a book when you hate the main character you see. She’s “not like other girls”, not interested in makeup or clothes, she’s eats “real food not like the princesses”, she’s a real good cook and baker but she conveniently plays tennis enough to keep her in perfect enough shape so that “she’d be attractive if people would just see past her being so unique and not like other girls”, she’s absolutely besotted with her childhood best friend who is an actual dickhead to her and AGREES WITH SOMEONE WHEN THEY SAY THEY WANT HER TO KILL HERSELF. He even calls her a filthy mutt and says he should get her a flea collar, but oh no that’s not the real him he’s just caught up in stuff and one day he’ll realise how much he loves the main girl. Every time someone points out what an arse he is, she rants about how no one really knows him and he’s actually incredibly special. Never read about someone less special than him. Also, she seemed to have a “I can’t tell anyone about anything that affects me at all because I’m such a good person I’ll just take the brunt of it because I’m not like other girls” complex, but it really goes too far and she doesn’t tell her own family about like threats on her life and the like. Plus, she seems to have about 4 different “random stranger characters who can see through her immediately and give her weirdly amazing advice after meeting her maybe once or twice” like you’d get in a coming of age movie. The main character is also just a bitch really. Any time someone does or says something good they must have ulterior motives because nothing good can ever happen to her. Nope.

This book is sweet if you don't think about it too much. If you want a really light hearted, classic romance read, this is it for you. The protagonist is fully fleshed out and lovely to be on a journey with, and the side characters are... fine, I mean they're sweet and enjoyable, even if they lack a lot of depth. The plot is achingly predictable and I could've done with a bit more romance and butterflies but its sweet, nonetheless, and a quick, fun read.
Honestly though, after reading the other reviews, I not exactly keen to try read this book on radish or with the authors attitude and the detailing plot lines. I won't read the second or rest of the books, and I guess I'll try treat this as a stand alone. This dropped a star in my rating for me, of course.
found this in a free library and to the free library it shall return - an easy read (prolly 2.5 hours) but the plot was lacking. main character is ~not like other girls~. this is probably YA and I didn’t realize or if it’s not, it should be .
I got hooked… I never understood why people bullied Emma growing up or even in college. I understand she’s an introvert and tends to keep to herself but that’s not reason to attack her. I think Bianca and Jake are pure asswhipes and deserve no good things to come to them. Honestly my favorite characters are Zach and Genie, they were both great and kind and real.
Ok so I started this book on wattpad 1.5 years ago but it was so stupid bc it only let me read a preview and the rest I had to pay for. I finally found it again on z library for free so I decided to read it.
It should’ve stayed on wattpad.
This book wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t the best either. For a wattpad novel it works but other than that it wasn’t great.
This book was advertised to me on Facebook through Radish, and it was a quiet Saturday morning, so I read the ad. It made me angry. I'm not sure why, but 3 hours later I finished the book on kindle. It was fine. There was nothing spectacular about it. It didn't flow great. I'm also not one for the trope of "quiet innocent girl in love with best friend but mean girl is dating the best friend and is unnecessarily cruel to quiet girl and apparently she's a freak because she likes to read". Normally I'd keep this off of my goodreads to sit on my kindle as if I never anger read it. But this book has a sequel. I won't be reading it. I'm not one for books that make you pay per chapter, especially books that aren't even remotely good. Half the book is on kindle and half is on Radish. Nope.
I found this book on the game Chapters. It piqued my interest so I came looking for it on Amazon after the game ended. I'm glad I did. There is so much more detail in the book, obviously. I lobe how Emma goes from being lonely, shy, and insecure to having great friends, more out growing, and slightly less insecure. Zach is a great guy, I'm so glad he was there for her from the beginning. Jake was a sleaze, I'm glad how the book ended things between those two. Hoping future books won't be bringing him back.
3,5* When the main character gets on your nerves, the rest of the book is hard to read ... but after a very difficult fight inside me (read it or not to read it), it wasn't that bad. Thank God for Zach!
I'm just a girl in her 20's, but I really enjoyed this book! I think that any young adult/teen would. I just purchased the 2nd book in the series and cant wait to read it! Anna Albo is a wonderful writer. And I hope she writes many more books!
I have always been a fan of Anna Albo stories when she wrote in Wattpad site. And I am even more than excited when she announce that she will published her works. She has reformatted The Senator’s Son story that you will still love it for the second time or even for the first time.
The Senator’s Son will bring two unlikely characters together. And you are going to love them as much as I do. Let’s start chatting away about the two characters. Emma Emma is such a sweetheart that I definitely did get mad that people were often taking advantage of her. She is not doing anything to anyone. Just being a sweet person she can be. But these people in the university are not taking kind to her. Oh well, I love her. And everyone should too. She is such a catch that she gets the notice from Zach. But that will lead to some complications. She is very new to relationships and dating that she has no clue about the signals that Zach may be giving her. You just got to be honest and straightforward when it comes to dating. Zach Zach, Zach, Zach. Where do I begin? Zach is his only person that no one can complete. That is the way he is. He may come across as arrogant or a**hole but he does not hide his personality at all. He is not about the bullshit that people will take offense about it. And most people do especially at the university. He most definitely get a shock when he meets Emma but she is total different from everything he knows which is a good thing. He may be out of his league with her but he is willing to be up the contender for Emma. He just got to be a little patience with Emma since she is new in the dating department. Summary Emma and Zach story does not start in a happy note since Emma is facing a lot of drama. It is definitely not ideal with Emma but she is a strong women that she can keep on going. It definitely sucks that she will lose some friends but they are not worth her time since she gets to bond with Zach who is willing be a loyal friend. And it is a wonderful thing because it start their relationship. It will be a slow start in their relationship. But it is a beautiful thing because they will get to know each other more and more as the days go on. They are going to struggle with each other because they come from different backgrounds that it takes some time to adjust. Do not worry, you will get to read about their romance really soon (it’s slow burning romance).
The Senator’s Son will make you love slow-burning romance genre even more. Five Stars!
For a young adult romance, it was a good quick read. *Spoilers* below, that I had to rant to get off my chest. All that being said, I read the book in a few days and did enjoy it very much.
*spoiler* I wish the character of Emma wouldn't have backed down to Bianca. Emma had met and made friends with so many influential people on her own and in the event of her being attacked she just goes belly up to a person who threatened her countless times. Ridiculous. I wish the author would have written justice for Emma and punishment for Bianca not by blackmail, but by all the people coming out of the woodwork for Emma, like having a former prosecutor (almost) step-grandma, a lawyer tennis partner, and a bunch of witnesses to Bianca's behavior. Someone would have said something against her in court and there would have been loads of evidence, maybe at least camera footage, let alone the harassment texts. A bit disappointed in the dismissal of literal assault and harassment, which is in fact a crime that deserve justice, and not just a "I want this to be over" statement. Yeah, me too, I NEEDED this to end with that chick I'm jail, paying a hefty fine, community service, dismissal from school, cut off from her parents, potentially mandatory therapy, and a restraining order that lasts as long as possible. Being a spoiled rich pretty bitch doesn't mean she should literally get away with crimes. A huge disappointment in the lack or resolve in that regards to the ending. Hoping the second book soothes the burn.
What a page turner. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll seethe anger... The Senator's Son has it all.
One She Devil????….Check ……(well, maybe more than one)
Emotion….. Check …. (hard not to exude anger at certain characters)
Friends????…. Check …(but some turn out to be a$$wipes)
Strife & Turmoil ….. Oh yeah …(and watch for lessons learned the hard way)
Love Is Blind?…. Definitely …(and it’s also a cruel heartbreaker)
Drama ……. Yes …(especially when your best friend becomes your worst enemy)
Zack is the senator’s son…. Privileged, elite, rich kid? Ummmmm…. maybe, but when you look deep… really deep within him, you just may see a different man.
Of course, there’s got to be a lifelong friend and secret love somewhere, and it fits so well here, especially with the tirades of the maniacal, current girlfriend. So how does our heroine, Emma cope? How can she deal with the delusional girl who holds her ‘true love’s’ heart?
Well…… maybe Zack can help. After all, he is The Senator’s Son.
(I’m so glad I was able to read this ARC of The Senator’s Son. I actually read it twice and loved it both times.)
It was a good book. Am keen to read the next one. Zach and Emma are cute together. I want them to be happy but have a feeling the next book won’t quite allow that without a few challenges. I gotta admit I didn’t really like that Emma was so unable to remove Jake faster from her life. The pinning was a lot and their relationship never sounded good. So I didn’t really get why she ever liked him in the first place. However Zach was pretty amazing. The seemed to get along so well and they had a good friendship foundation before becoming romantically involved. I feel like I would have liked a little more of Zach’s perspective tho, I felt like since he got a chapter here and there that he may as well have been a bigger part of the whole story. I would have like seeing his POV during the buts where they were together, since mainly his chapters were about what he was doing outside of Emma. Overall a good book. I will be reading the next one too!
There were some interesting turns in the story but overall the book does not blow you away.
The issue I have with the book is it felt really choppy and writer Anna was struggling with the flow of the story. In her plot key information is missing which I felt was crucial for the story.
1. Jake and Emma relationship, if they were friends from childhood why did he turn against so easily? 2. Also, if Bianca is so threaded by Emma and Jake does like Emma, why is he sharing a room at Brett cabin with Emma rather Bianca? 3. When Bianca gets Emma thrown out of Jake apartment, why does she continue to hassle Emma at the bakery? 4. If Jake knows Bianca has been harassing Emma, why is he shocked when Bianca attacks Emma?
If the writer offer more clarity in her writing it would have been a better story.
I discovered this book by playing Episodes years ago! So glad I finally got around to reading it, it was a nice easy read nothing over complicated. Nice story and easy to follow steady flow, characters were well devolved and described helping to create personalities for them.
Not as in depth as some romance books, and the main character did seem to drone on a little. Which is understandable as its what you do at that age lusting after a boy. Was well written from the lead female point of perspective and took me back to that age and put me in her shoes. Hard to say on the male lead as its not something I have experience of but was well written also.
Id recommend this book to anyone who wants a steady read that flows easy and isn't over complicated like some love triangles are! Definitely a summer read!
I saw an excerpt for this book on Facebook. Because Facebook only gives you a little teaser, I didn't get to read much. However, for a whole day afterwards, I could not get this book out of my head. I kept wondering what happened? Did Jake come back for Emma? Did Emma move on? What's up with Zach? Eventually, I googled the names of the characters and found the book on Amazon, and I wasn't disappointed. There were times that Emma made me mad, not telling the truth to her Father or pushing Zach away, but all in all - It was a really good read. Completed in a couple hours.
This is the first book I got to 6 hours in the audio book in one day. Like any other book I read or listen to I had predictions of what's gonna happen and to my surprise it happened. There's the line of what characters I came to love and ones I came to hate. I'm democrat but I have to admit I don't love politics. There's a lot of corrupt crap in the world that we can't control and we want to. What I love about this book, there's romance and humor that has me laughing so hard. It's safe to say, I enjoy the book and the narrators so much. Love to see more from this author, keep them coming.
What a sweet with a little spice romance type novel. I really enjoyed it. Emma and Zach are a great pair. I really want to know what's on the video, hopefully, we find out in the second novel. The characters were great in that they really added to the story. I hope Jake has truly learned from this and he and Emma can work on their friendship. Loved Emma's dad, grandparents and Zach's parents. Can't wait to see what happens when they all meet eachother. Very well written and highly recommend reading this.
A sparkling NA romance. Emma has a real journey to go on as she lets go of the perceptions she's internalized, believing herself to be unworthy of love as she pines after the awful Jake, and comes to realize how special she is, and how great Zach is. Their romance is believable and compelling. The audiobook is told very well; the male narrator in particular does a great job. Wonderful debut from a Winnipeg author!
Eh idare eder diyebileceğim, metro yolculuğu kitabıydı. Emma gördüğüm en şapşaloz karakterlerden biri, def olup gitsin ne cehenneme gidecekse; ama Zach... Zach... Neden böyle bi şey yaptın kuzum, onca güzel ve akıllı kız varken okulunda, çevrende...... Jack ise apayrı bir saçma sapanlığa sahipti. Yeterince cezasını da bulmadı, Bianca (ya da Becca, bilmiyorum her hatunun adı B'yle başlıyo kitapta) onu terk etti hani bu yeterli bi ceza değildi baya ciddi ciddi ayağı kaydırılmalıydı..
Love it, I have been in a reading comma, no book has gotten my attention, however I picked this book and it was just what I needed! I could not put it down, just thinking about Zach and Emma's life together after Jake kicked Emma out. The relationship was just perfect! I just want to know more about some of the other characters: Zach's sister, Emma's dad, what happened to Emma's mother why did she talked to Zach's sister, and of course I want to know what was on the video!
I first read this book on Wattpad before it was published. Since being published a few years ago, I’ve made sure to read it at least once a year. Every time I read it I find new and interesting details. That characters in this book are very relatable. Especially the main character, Emma, who deals with some pretty severe anxiety.
This book is definitely one of my favourites, and I love the slow burn!
I actually really liked the premise, and although the FMC was pretty ~NLOG~ I overlooked it because a lot of the plot was fun (I am so tired of the independent, I can suffer on my own and not accept any help trope so it was nice to see a FMC who accepted help, and embraced things out of her comfort zone like going drinking at bars etc), and MMC was a very likeable book boyfriend. I wish the author didn’t completely blow it all to shit in the next book(a). Tragic.
This is a book that will be on my permanent reread list! Zach is swoon worthy from the moment he opens the door, and Emma's cooking always leaves me hungry! I love the weaving of the life-long best friend story of Jake and Emma with the budding romance between Emma and Zach. So many moments that make this story a favorite of mine, and I can't wait for the sequel!
Slow-burning but romantic. Great tropes inside, the evil Queen Bee and the clueless best friend, the surprisingly down-to-Earth rich boy to steal everyone's heart. I loved that nothing super crazy happened, yet enough drama to keep me turning the pages. So many questions are left unanswered, and Albo left just enough hints to drive readers crazy until they can pickup the next book!
