Elle has one more year of high school left and she has never been kissed. When she decides to make a kissing booth for the school carnival, she kisses Noah, her best friend Lee's brother, and her life changes. But Noah is older than Elle, and Lee will not be happy. Will Elle listen to her head or her heart?
I have not read the original version of this book, just the abridged version because I thought I might use it in school. That's not going to happen because I did not like the story at all. I hadn't heard of the concept of a kissing booth before, but it seems immensely outdated and sexist. As does the whole book. I actually checked when it was written, expecting it to be somewhere late 80s. ..
As I started to read “The Kissing Booth” it got to my attention from the background information it stated, and how I saw I was a type of love story romance type of book. It caught my eye and as soon as I started to read it got my interest and how it talked about how Elle decided to run a kissing booth it all started from there. Elle and Lee had a project to do and they both thought it would be a great idea to do a kissing booth. That was lead on to Elle and Noah getting together with Elle and Lee have a set of rules that they cannot date each other family relatives, which was rule #9 “relative’s of your best friends are off-limits” which made a major impact on Elle and Lee once Lee found out that Elle was keeping that a secret until he saw Elle and Noah kissing. The story teaches plenty of morals and shows how friendship is one of the most important vowels as well how trust comes in. It caught to my attention how Lee accepted that Elle liked his brother it did make him upset but we understood what was happening, he supported her just like one of the tbh other rules they had, #18 “Always be happy for your besties successes.” which he was. It definitely took Lee a while to finally accept what Elle and Noah had but he was at last happy for her. Overall the book was amazing and definitely would recommend reading it, you get a lot from it and see how strong a true friendship is. For the previous reason and if you enjoy love novels I sure believe this is a book you must read
I started reading this book because of the movies but it isn't even close to the same. It started out fine but then just kept getting worse as I went along. I actually never finished it and just stopped because of how it was getting. Noah is the bad guy as he is a possessive player and doesn't care about anyone. It was also getting really cheesy with Noah saying stuff like "You're the only girl that doesn't fall at my feet and it drives me crazy" or something stupid like that. I'm only giving it a 3 stars because I like the movie. I wouldn't recommend if you can't handle cheesy books.
This book was adorable! It had me hooked from the first page. I did get a ton of second hand embarrassment from Elle, but that's ok. That's how I know the book is good because it let's me feel what the characters are feeling. Totally recommend!!
