Trixie Towers #3

Crypts and Crimes

Rate this book
Through time and crime,
The crocodiles cried tears.
Furious hearts will not die,
Run away, my dears.

Once were charmed,
Forever enslaved.
Rage! Rage!
The Fae cannot change.

The heart has no mercy...

King Athon is a shifter prick.
If only my dastardly soul mate was a little less intelligent. Alas, not only is King Athon the most powerful in the realm—alongside my father—the King of Shifters is also sharp and savvy. The vigilant predator makes it difficult to hide my truths, but I am the heir to the Elf Kingdom, a top notch swindler.
I will prevail.

With the five kingdoms in more trouble than we’d thought, the Misfits are even less forthcoming than usual, and all Fairy breaks loose while we search in the Caster Kingdom for the third artifact. Deep in the unsavory swamps, a deadly seduction thrives under a weeping tree. But the five rulers and I will not shirk our duty within those wicked shadows, even if we want to.

My name is Trixie Towers. I utterly loathe my cruel soul mate, but the truly miraculous has happened. I’m beginning to detest the Fae even more than him.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*In The Need Of The Next One*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

I need book four right now. Right now. I truly like Scarlett Dawn 's writing style, I like her characters and I definitely like her character's development. It's fast forward and easy to like. This book, is so far, the best in the series. I like that we're seeing Athon and Trixie getting slowly - almost too slowly - closer, even though they got a long way to go. I can't wait for more and I hope that we won't wait long. That being said, the mission in itself in this book was more a side plot and the focus, at least for me, was showing Athon and Trixie take a couple of small steps closer.

He pointed downward at himself. “And this is better than a fine cock. It is a magnificent cock.”
I held my hilarity at bay, keeping a straight face. “Yes, you are right, of course. Magnificent.”
“Awe-inspiring.”
“Yes, yes.” Men were so silly about their dicks.
“Most definitely, your one and only.” His golden crown glimmered in the dim lighting as he leaned down to place his face in front of mine, his white hair falling over his muscular, bare shoulders. “There would be no reason for you to stray because you have the most magnificent, awe-inspiring cock at your disposal.”
“Yes, I remember.” I rolled my eyes. “Are you done now?”
“Not in the slightest.”

A very different kind of love story...

It still cracks me up that both Trixie and King Athon have to fight their natural repulsion to each other. It's so funny because it goes against what I thought I wanted in my romance reads. What Trixie finds repulsive, makes me shudder and shake in delight. What King Athon is repulsed by, is what I thought all men wanted...a flexible, petite and athletic woman.

In this instalment, their quest to find the next artifact is right at the end and over pretty quickly. I was a little disappointed, to be honest. I did like that we get more of Trixie and Athon but that also came with its own ups and downs. For the first time in this series, King Athon brought a tear to my eye. Bloody, bloody womble head (my most scathing insult), I was devastated for Trixie when he came out with his 'fix' for their problem.

I hate having to wait for more but I will definitely be back. I need to know how it will all play out.

A magical and titillating read that swept me off my feet and had me riding its exhilarating waves. This book totally consumed me. Devour isn't the proper word to use–inhale is! I could not stop reading!

project_20200401_1222517

There is a smile on my face but an ache in my heart. Finishing this book was torture to that particular beating organ. Mainly because I did not want it to end and I knew the wait for the next book would pass by agonizingly slow.

Trixie is back with her badass glorious self, showing us just how much she loves to hate her beastly mate. It is utterly hilarious and sensationally sensual. Their hate is apparent and they throw it at each other with their threats and barbs. I love the way the speak to each other. The animosity clearly shows but deep deep deep down, they don't wish any harm to befall each other.
Their possessiveness is scorching–literally with Trixie–and I can't get enough of it. There are many occasions in this book for their jealousy and possessive to come forth and I was looking forward to every one of them. I felt Trixie's emotions so strongly. I will go to battle for this girl!

In this third instalment the gang is back together to find the third artifact in the Caster Kingdom. With each kingdom, a betrayal has to be unlocked to recover the artifact. The betrayal and secrets revealed are painful to the royal affected.
In this book we also get to see a different side to Athon. A side that was downright swoony and I found it adorably sexy. He also aggravated me. I wanted to smack him so many times. The same goes for King Traevon. Poor Trixie! The stuff she had to put up with.
The white butterfly that made an appearance twice before... yeah that one, I was right to pay attention to that detail. It is symbolic but have no clue as to what yet. I bet it's something pretty significant. And has something to do with Trixie and Athon's soul mate bond! Their relationship is slowly progressing. I can't wait for the time when they let go of all their animosity and fully embrace their bond. It. Will. Be. Explosive.
I'm waiting for the moment when Athon loses control and is protective and possessive of Trixie in front of every one! That will be my highlight of the year!

I can go on and on about the series because I love it so much. It is one of the best of all time for me and I will definitely read it a few thousand times in this lifetime! Scarlett took control of my mind and heart. She writes enemies-to-lovers (enemies with benefits) to perfection! I am forever grateful to her for giving me characters that steal my heart and have me wishing to be sucked into their world.
Let the waiting–for Beast and Baubles–commence!

4.5 Stars!

THIS IS QUICKLY BECOMING ONE OF MY FAVORITE SERIES EVER!

King Athon is already starting to follow her around everywhere. I freaking love it! Their relationship is very slowly starting to shift and these subtle changes are everything! I love that they are more comfortable now, they both show just a smidge of affection for each other. It's so delicious to watch them developing into something more and let's not forget about all the bickering. King Athon and Trixie are hilarious, be it alone or together. I love love love the humor in here and I absolutely don't mind that the books focus more on the relationship-building than on the quests.

I can't wait for the next installment!

Trixie and the group of rulers for the land are getting ready to celebrate her parents 500th anniversary. Her soul mate Athon isn’t going to make things easy for her.

They have to go to the castor kingdom for the artifact this time.

I love how Trixie and Athon are slowly, and I mean very slowly, starting to like each other. They went from repulsed to book one, to “you’re tolerable I suppose” by this one. Do they trust each other? Absolutely not. But the hate is starting to melt just a little. And they are starting to understand each other much better.

Bishop and Cassian find out about the illegal soul mating and that goes as well as expected. The rulers are starting to notice something is up with Trixie and Athon. This leads her father to believe they are plotting behind him. I can’t wait to see what happens when it comes out.

Hopefully it won’t be soon because this is a series I want to go on for a while. I love the humor in it.

This isn’t a stand alone series, start with book one. It’s also not complete, but it doesn’t end with cliffhangers.

King Athon and Trixie Towers star in the most exciting, weird, steamy and wild love story ever! And I’m enjoying every word of it.

Again, their chemistry and hate is amazing. They have both dirty mouths and can’t help picking on each other all the time. Their quest of saving their kingdoms is still up but in the meantime they have to learn to tolerate each other and are facing together some compromising situations.

This book has some of the funniest moments I ever read. And also very steamy scenes between our main characters.

Can’t wait for book 4!

Oh my God, I thought the first two books in the series were amazing but this one - it's just spectacular.

I love Trixie's constant confusion and anger towards 'that shifter asshole' as she likes to call her damn Fae soulmate. The unexplainable mindboggling chemistry between Trix and King Athon is out of this world.

The story takes you on all kinds of journeys and a little self-discovery for each character. But also, helps the readers understand the complexity of their thoughts and actions.

I especially love the humourous parts which Scarlett Dawn has pinned down to perfection.

Not as adventure filled as the previous two books however the romance has developed quite well and I can't wait for the next book😍 and more adventure to come ! I'm at the edge of my seat trying to figure out how everyone will react to the soul mate situation with our elf princess and the rude shifter king.

Re-read 3-2022, book 4 here I come! I am happy that Bishop and Caspian are in on the secret and they are just as floored. The bookstore scene was the best, I love being in Athon's head. And the ball and the sexy times at the ball and yes, pretty much everything. I know I will not get any final answers yet in the series but I am dedicated to this wild ride :)

Original review:
Yes, another terrific book in the series- such a pleasure to read (slowly since it isn't an epic tome). Watching all the snark and steam unfold as well as seeing more of their characters.
I really enjoyed a glimpse into their everyday lives as well as an adventure, and seeing Athon not happy with her "quiet" and the fight- its all such a great book. Love this series.

Re-Read 12-2020 prep for book 4- can't wait to see what happens in the Merfolk world and now that Trixie has swallowed the ... oh, no that would be a total spoiler...

Scarlett Dawn is an incredible writer who is gifted with an ability to tell stories. I look forward to every book she writes and count down the days for any of her releases. This book was worth the wait! How she builds her characters is brilliant and the world she creates I want to move to! This enemies to lovers book is funny, sexy, and suspenseful and adventurous.

I don’t know what it is about this series that I find so good. I feel like it’s the dialogue and the parts between Princess Trixie and King Athon. They are just hilarious and yet so steamy with each other. I especially loved the scene in bed when it got a bit deep. Sighhh such an entertaining book. I only wish it were longer. Can’t wait till June for the next one!!!!

Love this series

I love this series so much. I have inhaled every book. I love the witty banter, our cheeky leading lady and the hate to love relationship. The ending. My god. Not a cliff but one where you’ll be dying to know what comes next.

Awesome as always

An amazing continuation to what I'm sure will be one of my favorite book series. Scarlett Dawn never lets me down. It's a very slow burn, the romance in this series, but it finally feels as if they are growing to actually care for each other. They at least admit the have sexual attraction. I love this plot and I can wait to read the next book! I definitely recommend this series.

Once again I'm not sure how I've gotten to book 3 - both the main characters are terrible to eachother! I won't even get into what I liked/disliked as I will be reading book 4, at this point I just need to know how the author brings these 2 around

The plot thickens

Things are unraveling deliciously for Princess Trixie and King Athon now that two of their closet friends know their soul mated status. This was mostly a very fun read until it got so serious at the end. Three months to wait for the next installment.

The new Trixie Towers book starts with Scarlett’s trademark wit and snark. Fateful discoveries are made with abundant humor. The book spends a little less time on the quest this time, but the quest turns the tone and pace of the series. It was distinctly darker than Scarlett’s usual writing, and definitely makes June and book #4 seem like a looong way away.

Dangit Scarlett! You're killing me. Anyone else wish the rest of this series could be released a la Netflix, where it's all released at once and you can binge read everything in one sitting?? LOL, if only.

Crypts & Crimes continues with the third leg of the epic fantasy quest of Trixie Towers and the rulers of the five kingdoms to save their realm. While we do eventually get to experience a foray into the Caster Kingdom where we learn a little bit about Queen Mikko, the majority of this book takes place before their trip. I do think a longer, more detailed version of the quest would have been interesting to read, I don't think it detracts in any way from the book, it would have just fed my curiosity to learn more about this world SD has created.

The book picks up directly after the royals return from their previous trek to the Shifter Kingdom. Immediately, you see a change in the way that Trixie and Athon are interacting before they even leave High Pointe. He thanks her for her help in his kingdom and gifts her with a few thoughtful gifts. Further into the story they start to experience not just the possessiveness that was new in Scales & Skeletons, but lust and attraction, as well. Caring. Laughter. Oh and dancing. HAWT. While I think we definitely see changes in both characters, the changes are really noticeable and exciting with King Athon in my opinion. I'm not sure what it is about seeing a strong male character soften towards his (eventual) love interest, but I love that process and it's starting to happen in this book with King Athon. It's still a slow burn, and there is still of course bickering, but it's perfect.

And the secrets secrets secrets. Caspian and Bishop uncover a secret, and is King Traevon on the verge of deducing something too? Trixie seems to battle more with all the lies she keeps having to tell her king and he becomes suspicious that she is hiding something big.

Finally, my favorite part of this book was learning more about The Seed of Creation and the flower gifted to Trixie at the end of the last quest. Are there possible shifter-elf bebes in our future?? Gawd, I hope so! and I can't wait.

I cannot say enough great things about this series. I love all the books in this series, but Crypts and Crimes has been my favorite so far. I finished this book soon after it was released, and then I re-read all three books again, hoping that miraculously the fourth book would be waiting for me afterward... not so. unfortunately.

Thank you Scarlett Dawn for another great read. I am really looking forward to seeing how this series continues to unfold.
