Cartwright Siblings #1

The Cowboy and the Angel

Rate this book
Renee Sweeney will do whatever it takes to keep a roof over the heads of Detroit's street kids. Even if it means stepping in front of a ten-ton wrecking ball aimed at their temporary home. And especially if it means clashing with gorgeous corporate cowboy Duke Dalton. To Duke, the blue-eyed blonde seems more like an angel than a social worker. Until he discovers a group of runaways camping out in his warehouse! The Tulsa businessman came to set up shop in a new town, not provide free housing for the masses. But Renee and the kids are making him rethink his bottom line...and what the spirit of the Christmas season really means. Now this cowboy Santa is looking to give Renee--and her young charges--a gift straight from his heart!

So good! This one tugs at your heartstrings with the homeless children. I thought it was beautiful with a lovely romance that ensues between Renee and Duke. This book is perfect to read at any time and not just the holiday even though it has a Christmas theme.

Reading for Romance Writers contest

Detroit social worker Renee Sweeney has a secret and is determined to stop the demolition of an old building on the riverfront. There are 6 kids living in the building for whom she can't find a safe place or foster home in time for Christmas. Enter sexy Okie cowboy Duke Dalton who wants the property for the HQ of his computer business.

This was a nice story and I liked the characters of Renee & Duke, but the plot line of the kids being allowed to stay in an old abandonded building when a social worker & business man knew about them just didn't ring true for me. Maybe I'm just not that used to reading the short contemporary format and wanted a little more substance to the story.

Finally note to the editor: it is a Brownie Troop, not a Browine Troupe!

Marin is one of my favorite authors, The Cowboy and the Angel the romance centers around a business owner and a social worker. They are thrown together by a group of kids living in the building he's just bought and intends to demolish.
I loved the characters, this is the 1st of 3 in this series. I loved it.
