Valamikor, 15-20 éve olvastam már ezt a könyvet és emlékeztem rá, hogy nagyon szerettem. És ez most sem változott. Bár most jobban zavartak a helyesírási és elírási hibák, azok nem a könyv hibái, hanem a fordítóé.
Jó volt, ez a három szálon futó cselekmény, ami végül egymásba futott és a végére, minden titokról, minden rossz emlékről és minden hazugságról lerántotta a leplet.
Holly és Raven, bár más-más kegyetlenséget éltek át gyerekkorukban, mégis mindketten egész életükben hordozták magukban. De míg Holly elbújt a világ elől, addig Raven sikeres, magabiztos nő lett egy bizonytalan gyerek lelkével.
Mind a ketten megérdemelték, hogy találjanak egy olyan férfit, aki végre bebizonyította, hogy őket is lehet szeretni.
Lawrencért pedig megszakadt az ember szíve, mindazért, amit átélt.
Lehet, hogy nem ez a legjobb könyve Stone-nak, de számomra a legkedvesebb.

In a world where vampires and other paranormal story lines rule, where sex is so graphic it is as if you are sitting through a clinical "how to" seminar, here is a story written in 1994 (yes before cell phones!) that is sitting on my "I will keep this book forever" bookshelf. When it came out for my Kindle, I bought it then, too. It is a richly emotional story of two women haunted by their pasts, who still dare to believe that, even for them, there might one day be happiness and love. These two women will first break your heart. You will probably get choked up and get teary eyed in some places. The book is so powerful. It is a feel-good ending but only after your heart has been broken. It may come across wordy at times but you are so caught up in this book, it doesn't matter. I've read several of Ms. Stone's books but this is my all-time favorite.

Re-read 2/19/11 - Just as good this time around.


Re-read 9/30/09 - Katherine Stone is an author I often fall back on when I'm in the mood for something kind of solemn. Her prose is often flowery, but her stories never fail to capture me.

The dual storyline here really works and I enjoyed both. Though this borders on being too sweet, the balance seems to work well. Although the Jason/Holly storyline is great, I much prefer the Willow/Nick story. I'm not sure why, exactly, but it just grabs me more.

Overall this is a poignant tale - one I would recommend.

Three damaged women

I loved this book. Three women, whose lives has been irrevocably changed by betrayal of those close to them, triumph over the damage inflicted. Skillful character development and and concise chronology are two of the talents that Katherine has used to compose this truly wonderful story of hope and the redemption of love.

Objectively this is not a good book. So cliche. So many different plots running in parallel. Trite characters. Yet somehow I enjoyed every page-turning moment even when I was guffawing at how bad it was. And odds are I will read more by Katherine Stone. 🤪

Well, it does deliver what the title promises. This is treacly, even for the 1990's. I hope all of them see therapists. I don't see how any of them can have healthy relationships without therapy.

It took me forever to finish this book. To begin with, I do not read romance novels. I think they're cheesy. Well, this one definitely fit the bill. I only read this book because of a book club. The story itself was pretty interesting, but I was gagging because of all of the corny, completely over-the-top romance lines. Sometimes I had to put down the book because of a line that was just too much for me.

Book #25 read in 2005

I have had this one forever! I am so sorry. (it's a good thing I'm last in line) I am not a big romance fan, so I kept looking at this book and couldn't make myself pick it up. However, I did finally read it and I really enjoyed it. I thought the story was sweet and I found my self rooting for the characters.
