I didn’t realize this book had 36 chapters until I got tired of reading when I got closer to the end lol... like chapter 35/36. I was over it and was like dang this book must have been really good that I didn’t pay how many chapters this book had.
But enough with that, I actually enjoyed this book. It was actually a good book. I enjoyed it and wasn’t disappointed. But I did think that Tommy guy and London girl were evil people. Especially with calling her names because of a kiss. Plus, I felt that maybe London could’ve been jealous of Tommie. & the ‘guy’ Tommy I didn’t know what his deal was. PlusJames, I just thought he only showed Tommie's attention when he found out how close Roan and Tommie had gotten with each other.
Because at first, he didn’t say anything to her and let the jokes about her having fish lips when she kissed him a prom. Well, more so, he kissed her by grabbing her behind and messing up her first kiss anyways. & made her the butt of the joke.
But you could tell that she had a lot of insecurities and doubts about herself and stayed comparing herself to her sister, in reality, told her that she (Maddie) was jealous of her (Tommie) it taken half of the book to show her that she was beautiful. I guess other guys also thought she was beautiful too. Even Roan though he always acted weird around her when she dressed up. But I could tell he was attracted to her.
But in the end, he had a hard time showing her what he felt for her because he kept pushing away from her. To denying anything was going to between them too; to him stop or wouldn’t look at her or hold hands with her in public. But always popped up when James was around 🤣 like I felt he was jealous when James did say or tough her. But like I said, James was only around for that one reason he seeing them kissing in the rain after batting cages (baseball)...
9 out of 10, I figure someone did show them kissing. I also was glad when Roan came to his senses because he really hurt Tommie.. & he finally proves to her at graduation by showing a slide show of them in public around everyone that they are together. I did want to see what Tommy and London had to say, but they were never mentioned again... since the party where London showed the fish lip kiss between James and Tommie at prom, during James' party. That girl had a serious jealous problem.
Great way to end this Sweet Water High series with an happy ending for Tommie and Roan!!
I loved how you put Tommie and Roan together as the last series of Sweet Water High and it would be nice if it happens to today’s teens on practicing abstinence, showing respect and love for each other!! I loved how Roan decided to show his true feelings for Tommie at the end... great story!!
Way too much drama, lack of communication, and self pity. I tried to empathize with Tommie. But she did not communicate, at all. She would repeat herself and expect everyone to read between the lines. Roan was weird. His hiding didn't make sense and was never fully explained. The bullying was ridiculous and I'm surprised the coaches didn't pick up on it and do something about. It's just not for me.
This book was soo sweet and romantic. It was hilarious sometimes. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time whenever I was reading this. I never expected it to end the way it did, but I’m soooo glad that it ended so perfectly!
Love, love, love!! ❤ Wow, and I do mean wow! This novel was excellent and thorough without becoming explicit! I love romantic novels and this one had a wonderful storyline to keep me entertained! Fabulous!
Ah. I love these stories! There’s just something about young love that has such strong emotions. I devoured this story. I loved the best friends angle and the shenanigans and agreements that went down.
I thought this would be a fun fluffy beach read but it was so hard to read. This was like the first draft of a novel when you’re writing everything you want to happen down to make sure it gets in there. But no one went back to EDIT it, ugh. The dialogue didn’t always makes sense and the scenes changed without any transition. Aside from poor writing, weird phrases, and missing words, the story/content wasn’t edited either. The characters were inconsistent throughout and there was so much “telling” about the characters and who the author wanted them to be, even though the author was “showing” us a wholly different side of the character. It was just bad writing and it made me sad. Like how Tommie’s upset that the dad is absent for the ENTIRE book (because that’s a requirement to have absentee parents in YA books), but then he makes an effort and takes leave from the military, which seems to be hard to do, so he can move Tommie into college but she’s like nah, I don’t want you to help me. WHAT?!? You’ve been sad this whole time because he wasn’t around, and now he is right in front of you and you don’t want him, because you have a bf now? Ugh. And we know that the reason Roan was so standoffish in public with her was because he didn’t want to rub it into James’ face that they were together, but that WHOLE explanation was A SINGLE PHRASE, it was never discussed...AT ALL. Tommie wanted a bf so badly that she allowed Roan to completely skip over why he was being a jerk to her in public, ugh! Give the girl a spine Sally! She didn’t even understand how James had a picture of Roan and her kissing in the rain at the end, like oh that’s normal for guys to take photos of their friends making out in the rain.
I didn’t read the rest of this crossover series, and it was annoying that there were so many “cute couples” casually being mentioned, repeatedly, but save yourself the pain and skip this one. I’m surprised I finished it.

Alright. So, to be honest I think the idea and thought behind this book was better than the actual book. It was a really cute idea for a story, but in my opinion this book didn’t do it justice. I understand it’s a TEEN novel but this was too childish for a teen audience in my opinion.
The main character Tommie was really annoying and whiny. She really turned me off from the book. Also, Roan was kind of a douche. I didn’t get that romance at all. To be honest the whole book just kind of threw me through a loop.
I really thought more could have been done to improve the storyline. Also, the main characters needed better backstory and improvements to their persona and personality. Also, I think the plot could have been better coordinated. Maybe some supporting characters and a bigger jealousy factor would have even worked.
All in all I have to give this book a 2.2. It was a cute idea but the book just didn’t follow through. Also, I found a good bit of editing and grammatical errors.
This was a fun read. It started a bit slowly as Roan took forever to decide to help Tommie find a kissing tutor. When things finally started moving along, I spent more time being annoyed with Roan because of his treatment of Tommie but eventually he redeemed himself.
Should best friends stick to just being best friends?
A neat story about friends in high school and their dedication to sports in their senior year. Just like most teens they had their struggles and insecurities. Then with the kissing tutor episode life began to change. I enjoyed reading this book.
This book was so flipping cute. I loved it. Roan frustrated me a bit, but I'm glad that he owned up to how he treated her in the end. I also appreciated that through the experiment, Tommie found that she didn't have to be a certain way to impress guys, nor did she have to put herself into the box of "tomboy" or "girly girl". Instead, she could be both and had the right to enjoy both. Great read.
This was a perfect example of how young love should be, friends first then boyfriend girlfriend. Who knows childhood sweetheart marriage eventually. It wasn't boring had some humor but was ornery enough to keep me reading.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story of friends to more. High school love is so fun and the whole concept of a kissing tutor kept me turning the page. The author can write great kissing scenes!
Really great book. I lived Tommie and Roan, especially Roan who was gruff and sweet and silly all at once. Everything was believable and oh so high school without being annoying or unreasonable. I loved that the characters had God as a part of their lives and that the book was clean. Some people are skeptical, I guess, but this was a pretty realistic high school life to me and I loved it. The only unrealistic portion was how sweet, mature, and protective Roan was, which only made the novel better. Five stars
