There's love in the air at the Midnight Rodeo when corgi-shifter, Loki, meets fainting-goat shifter, Bailey. Trouble is brewing, though, in the form of Epoch, a timekeeper with a bull-sized chip on his shoulder and a crush on a certain corgi-shifter. Tempers flare and love burns hot in this addition to the Midnight Rodeo Series!
Paranormal M-M romance. Told from multiple POV’s, all third person. Join the circus! A circus made up of paranormals. The heroes: a corgi shifter that herds the fire breathing demon bulls and a fainting goat shifter that manages the sheep. A jealous bully causes issues for the two, which in turn, makes their relationship more supportive.
A charming fated mates romance. A quick and appealing romance with medium heat levels. I loved the resolution of the bully.
Chapter 3 had me turning back pages and rereading paragraphs from Chapter 1. It took me a bit of time to realize what appeared to be duplicate details were because of the perspective of the second hero. Once understood, the story flowed better.
I very much enjoyed this paranormal love story that takes place at the circus. Loki, a shifter corgi, and Bailey, a fainting goad, are fated mates. The is an adorable quick read with an interesting storyline that was believable. The ending was perfect.
I have not read any other books in this series, didn't realize there was a series, but need to check them out. Loki is a very sweet corgi shifter who wrangles demon bulls and Bailey a fainting-goat shifter who takes care of the sheep. We also have Epoch who just made my skin crawl as soon as he was introduced. For whatever reason, he wants Loki in a bad way & can't take no for an answer. Epoch also claims to be descendant of Chronos. He is so jealous of Bailey that he will do anything to get rid of Bailey & take Loki as his own. I enjoyed watching Bailey & Loki fall in love and raise Bob, a baby sheep that his mother rejected. Other then the BS w/Epoch, this was a sweet quick read.

Kiernan Kelly will have you in stitches with this one. The story of Loki and Bailey is a rodeo romance. But nothing is normal amongst these supernatural beings. Fall in love with these colorful characters . The ugly trolls who love to spread rumors, Bailey the fainting goat shifter who adopts Bob the sheep and falls in love with Loki. Loki the corgi shifter who herds the fire breathing demon bulls but squeals like a girl for fear of snakes. I highly recommend the Midnight Rodeo books.
Loki the Corgi and Baily the Fainting Goat. You just don't think of shifters being corgis or fainting goats, but you got to admit that they would be pretty perfect when working at a rodeo. I think the two of them together are just so cute!
I felt a little sorry for Epoch sometimes, but nope, he's just an a-hole.
What could make a better story than a corgi shifter and a fainting goat shifter! This author is a delightful story teller! Loki is the corgi shifter that is responsible for herding and taking care of demon bulls! He meets Bailey when Bailey faints after being confronted by a bully named Epoch. This starts a chain of events that causes some fainting and a few screams. Loki and Bailey are great together and have a future if Epoch doesn’t have his way. Loved this story!
Take a corgi shifter. Mix with a loveable fainting goat shifter. Add a fluffy baby sheep. And you get a sweet and very unusual family. It's another crazy matchup at the rodeo. This book was quite a bit of fun. Yes there's a bully who goes off the rails. But the insta love storyline is quite nice. And it was just lovely seeing Rodney again.
This entrance into the midnight rodeo series caught my attention by having scenes from others besides the main characters point of view. It always puts my a little more on edge when you get first person view from a bad guy.
Not sure what happened but this book is so different from the rest of the series. It’s juvenile. From the plot to the behavior of the characters, it reads like a children’s story. Pretty disappointed because the author’s other books are good.
Once again, another good book in this series by this author. I enjoyed the unlikely pairings throughout this series. I mean come on...in this book it is a dog and a goat. An unlikely pair but they are fated to be mates. They fight it but will put all things aside to assist the other. The chemistry is undeniable. The book is enjoyable. I am glad I read this book.
Sweetness, high school level drama, added to a crazy bunch of shifters and supernaturals was what dominated this story. I loved all the unique shifter species and the varying supernatural species that we get semi-exposed to here. I actually seek out the unusual shifter types because, while my heart will always love the big cats, wolves, dragons, and bears, it's the others that captivate me in a whole new way. We don't get a ton of the shifter stuff, just that they're unique and find Fate's hand in their romance.
While I was reading I just kept thinking over and over that everything was what you'd expect from a YA read, but more like the kind you'd find in the Juvenile section of the library meant for pre-teens...well, if you took out the bedsheet tango bits and the references to nekkidity. It was just way too simple all around, especially the "escalation" until you get to the super crazy in the broadcast booth. I didn't find the actual story line or plot compelling.
I did find the characters interesting though, and definitely worth getting to know a bit. There's not a whole lot of background or depth here, but with virtually no romantic or history angst, it was able to get super sweet and suitably steamy really quickly. I enjoyed the story for what it was and thought it was a fun, super short read. I'd not heard of the series prior to this story and after reading it I'm intrigued by other characters, but in no way felt like I was missing anything by not having read the previous stories. This was a cute story all on its own.
Rating: 3 stars One of my least favorite of the series. While I really liked Bailey and loved his interaction with baby sheep Bob, I didn’t really connect with Loki at all. I didn’t dislike him but didn’t like him either. The author spent way too much time with other characters through out the story and very little time was spent on the romance between the two MCs. They went from hating each other to we’re in love way too fast, even if you consider they were fated mates. Didn’t allow enough time for anyone to really believe in their romance and HEA. Overall, it was okay. I didn’t hate it but didn’t particularly like either.
If I were one of the people working for D&K,I bet I'd be one of those Loki would smack until I'd learn to respect him. Because, really, I kept snickering just imagining a sweet corgi as a bada** herder of demon bulls. And then,if the story wasn't charming enough, Loki finds out he has a fated mate. And it's Bailey,a fainting goat shifter! I mean, how cute is that?
𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 is rather short and I had a lot of fun reading it. Loki and Bailey are adorable and the multiple POV, plus the added danger and drama, made their story engaging and entertaining.
I really enjoyed reading this delightfully shifter novella & found the plot quite entertaining with the characters unusual reactions. There is: a male Pembroke Welsh corgi shifter (Loki) discovers that his fated mate is a fainting goat shifter (Bailey) but there is a problem (Epoch) who is determined that Loki will be his. There is: various kinds of shifters, fated mates, drama, attractions, danger, threats, obsession, malice, manipulations, rumors, confrontations, declarations, love, some steam, contentment & a sweet ending.
Kiernan Kelly has written another sweet, charming, engaging, endearing, poignant, steamy, and delightfully adorable twist on the traditional shifter storyline. I absolutely loved her unique, unexpected, and unusual shifter types-Loki, a corgi shifter, and Bailey, a fainting goat shifter. I wanted to smack the crap out of a certain character, but the ending left me sighing with happiness. I would recommend getting this entire series for yourself.
This was a first time read for me by this author, and I loved it. I've never read anything before about shifters of this nature...a corgi and a fainting goat. I couldn't get enough. This was so wonderfully written, and the storyline absolutely sucked me in. Epoch took jealousy and stalkerish behavior to a whole another level. The book was over too quickly; I was so into it.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Kiernan Kelly's Shifting Responsibility is part of the Midnight Rodeo series but may be read as a stand alone novella without feeling lost. This is a contemporary m/m shifter romance with NO mpreg aspects.
This story has drama, angst, steam and romance. The characters are interesting and entertaining. Overall, a good story.
Now I haven't read any of the books in this series and I can say that I didn't feel lost. So definitely a standalone but I still now want to read the others in this series. This is such a great read. Loki and Bailey are so cute The action and drama in this story kept me interested. This is a great story short story.
This was my first read in this series, and from this author. I really enjoyed the mix of shifters. This is a short, quick read, but the characters are well-developed and endearing (except Enoch). There is a bit of angst and drama, along with sweet love and a HEA.
I received a complimentary ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review
I enjoyed this book! I haven’t read any of the other books, but I plan on it now. A fainting goat shifter meets a corgi shift and the sparks start to fly! I couldn’t stop reading. Highly recommend!!
I picked up this book solely because of the shifters. I have a friend who loves baby 🐐 and one who has corgis. I was not disappointed in the story. It was cute with shifters I have not seen before. The rest of the series is in my to get pile.
this book made me laugh a lot... i mean.. it had a corgi and a fainting goat.. the fainting goat alone made me smile and giggle.. it was just a fun simple and sweet read. i really enjoyed it
