Avery Lotusmist, a pro gamer, went on a camping trip to celebrate her friend's birthday and ended up kidnapped. Maybe? Avery thinks she's really in a dream-like video game simulation. The catch? In order to wake up and go home, she has to beat every level! This is gonna be awesome. Being sucked into a game was great way to test her skills. Unless it's not really a game. But it has to be, right?
Tylen Wyndove, Elf King, has a whole kingdom to keep safe. When he saves the most beautiful woman he's ever seen at a slave market, he realizes he's in big trouble. He knows he's found the woman he wants and no wizard, orc or legend will take his mate. And his shifter fully, one-hundred percent agrees. He has no idea what a video game or levels are, but he’s really glad that Avery is as in love with him as he is her.
Avery's levels get harder by the second. Meet the sexiest man at a slave auction: Check. Marry said sexy man, who's also the Elf King: Check. Fake seduce a madman to save a bunch of people: Check. Wear a crown that won't come off her head: Double check. Realizing you're not stuck in a video game and you are in love with the Elf King: Say what?
Milly Taiden (also writes as April Angel) was born in the prettiest part of the Caribbean (to her) known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, she resides in New York City with her husband, bossy young son and their little dog Speedy.
When she’s not working full-time, texting with her best friend Heidi in England, chastising her son for pulling the dog’s ears, shopping with her sister Jewel or watching scary movies with her husband, she can be found writing on her laptop.
She’s addicted to shoes, chocolate, Dunkin Donuts coffee and JIMMY THOMAS covers!!!
“He stepped his back feet apart and shit out enough coins to buy a kingdom. Hundreds of eyes rolled from him and his mate to the shining shit behind him.” my favorite part of the book, no question
3.5 - So much better than book 1. IMHO I found book 2 to still have a few cringey moments and especially the intimate moments, which I found ackward. It has started answering some questions and delved into more of the world, it's people and their magics. Onwards to book 3...
Book 2 of The Crystal Kingdom The Elf King by Milly Taiden This is book two in series and about Avery that ends up in a female slave auction. While there she bumps into The Elf King. While on the auction block she kicks off and people bidding go crazy. The Elf King knows she’s his mate and bids higher then everyone but before he gets to her the auction is attacked by a mythical creature and Tylen runs off with Avery. I absolutely love this series and really enjoyed this book especially with Avery thinking she’s in a video game. I’m assuming this is a trilogy because it focuses on the three queens and I will be gutted when it comes to an end.
So Freaking Awesome. Full of exciting twists that will keep you guessing until the very end of this book. Loved it so much. Milly has a way of building a story that will make you feel like you are right there in the middle of the the story. Loved it. Cannot wait to see what might happen next.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Better than book one which I didn’t enjoy but this one also had a slow patch for me. Avery the heroine kept believing she was playing in one of her video games so acted like her actions had no consequences. Glad the baddie was dealt with but a bigger bad is coming. I am reading this as I read book four about Avery's sister and quite enjoyed it. Read through Kindle Unlimited.
Elven goodness - Avery thinks she's in the best video game ever, so realistic with orcs, elves and other fantastical creatures. Except, how did she get here? No matter. She'll crush it like she always does, this time with her husband. Wait, what?
Tylen stumbles upon his mate at a slave market. Step one is to secure the beautiful female. Step two was to destroy the market but a gryphon (they're not real!) took care of that. Now he'll take his chosen mate to his home. She will be his queen even if she cannot harness the power of the crown.
This second in series is just as enjoyable as the first. The MCs have instant chemistry, practically unable to keep their hands off each other. Avery learns of her true heritage and why her ears are different from other humans'. Spoiled in the human realm, she will have to step up for the first time ever, her parents' resources unavailable to smooth the way. And she does an admirable job, helping to save her newfound family from the evil that plagues the land. I love that the elf females are the warriors, with the men deferring to their counsel. Favorite moment - Tylen pooped gold. The baddie's ultimate destruction was anticlimactic. He's a warlock who could snap his fingers and make magic happen. His death could have been better.
I listened to the Audible version. Great narration.
Very comedic story to an extent. However some times personally it seems very quick and I'd honestly of though more questions would of been asked by avery she clearly isnt as simple minded to believe she Is in a game world. Seriously fast paced story. Alot is going on. Little chaotic at times. But with enough space to leave u questioning about their missing friend. And grips ur mind to want to read the next book

Even though there was a lot of seriousness around this story, there was also a lot of humor. It was rather cute how Avery would talk and Tylen would look all confused. They were so perfect together. So cute the way they acted together.
The way that Avery protected their people, I loved it. I am hoping that maybe eventually though we will learn how they became who they are and who their grandparents are.
3 1/2⭐️ it’s good and entertaining and a really quick read. The elf King is a complete cinnamon roll in the storyline has a lot of potential. It was very Lord of the rings feel. Just not that extravagant and elaborate. Will I be reading the next one? Yeah, yeah probably
3.5 /5⭐️ 3/5🌶️
Enjoy my bookish friends and remember, if you like/love a book talk about it!
Avery, a professional gamer, goes on a camping with her friends and ends up captured by Orcs. But Orcs can't be real or magic. Is this some strange gamer dream? Magical mystery, danger and romance.
DNF Wanted to like this book and I did make it halfway, but it seemed pretty awkward at times. Plus, Avery bringing up instances of how rich her family was again and again didn't make me relate with her character. Might take it up sometime in the future.
I really enjoyed this story, the king was more open and funny. He was sex on a stick. He sexy ways and whispers had yours u going. very good book with another strong human.
This is book 2 of the Crystal Kingdom series, it is a stand-alone book with a wonderful HEA. I had to read the entire book in one setting it was so good. I recommend this book to all paranormal lovers. Can’t wait to read book 3.
That's a no for me. Some parts were SO bad I'd catch myself stopping to look off into the distance and question my life choices. The plot is fine enough but it's such a short story too that it seems crazy rushed.
Personal Preference Rating 4/5 🌶️🌶️ Audiobook (Everand) I think I liked this one slightly more than the first. The romance was a little more prevalent which I like in a short book. I think the plot of the first book was a bit more interesting, but overall I like the series.
Enjoyable reading. I cackled so much with the amount of comedy between the main characters. Loved the way how they interacted, however the pacing of the story was quite fast.
This one was better than faking. I liked the I liked Avery a lot more than I liked Kia and the fact that for a moment he thinks the worst actually makes it a little bit more endearing.
This is a cute paranormal story, but it was just a bit too far-fetched for me (even for a fantasy!). It was an entertaining read, though, and I liked that it featured elves, instead of just the usual aliens or shifters. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded down to 3 stars.
The thing that I found the most unbelievable was everyone on the alien world where Avery was taken spoke English. No mention was made of them having universal translators or anything like that, but she was able to talk to all of them immediately? That was a bit ridiculous.
I did like the idea that Avery thought she was dreaming that she was in a live-action video game. That part was really funny -- especially when she realized that it was all real, and she wasn't dreaming. I also enjoyed how Avery was always using human slang, and how the elves had no idea what she meant a lot of the time.
I liked both Avery and Tylen, and thought they were good together. I also liked the secondary elven characters, and the fairy queen.
Even though this story was a bit unbelievable, I will continue the series -- because it was a fun read.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
You know you are a hard core gamer when even reality becomes a challenge and you see "lives", "weapons", and "bonus points" hidden behind everything. Avery's realization that she did not fall into one of her beloved games is a humorous fantasy.
