Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum: Best Practices in Early Childhood Education, Third Edition

Rate this book
This book brings together the best information available on developing an integrated, holistic approach to curriculum and instruction for children age three to eight in such formal group settings as childcare, pre-school, and the early elementary grades. Concentrating as much on the “how” of curriculum development as on the “what and why,” the authors present numerous examples and practical, research-based guidelines—organized by developmental domain—for translating theory into best practice that accommodates age-appropriateness, individual differences, and social and cultural diversity. For childcare, pre-school, and early elementary grades instructors.

While informative, it's rather vague on specifics to the point of frustration. Really general knowledge, very broad.

Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum ~ Best Practices in Early Childhood Education, the title says exactly what this useful text does for the teachers as a reference book for her preschool and early childhood classroom. It is on of the best references on my bookshelf and provided by my employer to help me present a program for the children that meet their needs to develop to the full potential of each individual child. The many suggestions in this book will make the preschool environment better, the teacher's techniques easier for the students to follow and within the boundaries of current standards for preschool age children.
