So one thing about me..my diet is pretty crummy. If it's bad for you, chances are I like to eat it. So, when someone I knew lent me this book, I did not think I'd like it all that much.

But I did!

It is really informative. The books lists dozens..maybe hundreds..of different types of smoothies for your meal enjoyment. Now I will admit..I have never had a smoothie in my life. EVER! Though I know many a person who has.

Since I do not cook either (I am such an undomesticated brat!), this would appeal to someone like me because there is not a whole heck of alot of work to it. And some of the smoothies look actually tasty. Imagine that! For risk adverse foodies like myself, it is a great book to have!

I already have my eyes set on the Mango Smoothie!

So basically i t lists the different types of smoothies and there are enough selections for pretty much anyone . Also listed next to each choice,m are the ingredients you will need.

Here are some of the ones that I have found interesting:

Banana Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

Cashew Carmel

Sunny Sunbutter

Pecan-Walnut and Carrot Cake

Orange Cream Popsicle

Avocado, Walnut and Coconut

Sweet Cinnamon Bun

Green Mango Chia

Highly highly recommended. Now all I have to do is actually make one...

We are supposed to eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables a day. I always eat 2 tops, however I always feel so accomplished when I do, like I’m excelling at adulting, when I’m actually not.

Therefore I recently reached the conclusion that I needed a bullet blender and this book in my life.

This little book (which is a kindle unlimited by the way) is the perfect introduction to smoothies:
recipes, tips on how to store the ingredients, equipment, recommended amounts of superfood per smoothie… basically, everything I could have possibly needed.

Talk about motivation to dust off you blender, this book is chock full of AMAZING recipes, most of which are filled with easy to purchase ingredients. Broken into two sections super-food basics and super-food boosts and then further broken down into sections that share the same core ingredients (berries, leafy greens, beets, oats, bananas, etc). Some sections I felt more comfortable sticking to than others (I'm looking at you bananas and berries!), but other sections I'm intrigued enough to work my way up to (turmeric, green tea, ginger). At the end of the book there are easy conversion charts, substitution suggestions, and other resources. Seriously, a great buy. Let some of the recipes sell it for you. Sweet Cherry-Pecan Delight, Coffee Banana Perk-Up, Tropical Mango-Strawberry Crowd Pleaser, and Holiday Cranberry-Cinnamon Cocktail. Just do yourself a favor and get this book already!

I love smoothies. I wasn't sure if I'd learn anything new in a book like this. But I did! There are great tips and ideas for those new to smoothies and veteran smoothie makers. I appreciated the intros to each section. The author included enough information about each superfood without overwhelming those looking for recipes. Also, I very much appreciated the factual information without a lot of hype. As an RN and Holistic Health Coach, I'm very leery of too-good-to-be-true claims and am happy to report that this book doesn't have any. It has truth, simple tips, and fabulous recipes. A special thank you to the author from my kids (ages 5-12) who now have more variety in their Sunday Supper Smoothies. I had been in a bit of a rut.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley. I was not required to give a positive review. The thoughts and opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

While this book may have simple smoothie recipes, there's nothing ordinary about it. What I truly love about it is that it gives a breakdown of each super food component and how it aids the body (for anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, etc.) The book is broken down into sections - i.e., there's a berry section, a nut & seed section, dark leafy green section, etc. There's also a super food boost section with recipes featuring turmeric, cinnamon and chia seeds, etc. Sondi Bruner has created a great book that takes the guess work out of creating a healthy smoothie that's not full of sugar and fad ingredients.

Note: I received this book from the publisher for an honest review.

I had bariatric surgery in December and since then I’ve been trying to find more ways to get nutrition into my diet. I’ve always loved smoothies, but I tend make the same ones over and over, and was in desperate need of some inspiration. That’s where Simple Superfood Smoothies comes in.

I really like the layout of this book, as it is focused on superfoods, with each superfood having its own chapter. Each recipe also highlights the primary benefits of said recipe, as well as the nutrition facts per serving, taking out all the guesswork. All of the recipes only have a few ingredients, are simple to make, and taste delicious! I loved learning how to make nut milk and nut butters and educating myself on the benefits of superfoods.

The book is also aesthetically pleasing, with delicious photography that is not only beautiful, but inspiring! This is a great cookbook, and exactly what I was looking for to put some variety into my diet.

Smoothies can be a great way to super charge your health and Sondi Bruner’s most recent book, Simple Superfood Smoothies won’t disappoint.
Simple Superfood Smoothies is a recipe book that both the novice and long-time smoothie maker can benefit from its vast content. Superfood is often a marketing term, but that being said; Sondi has highlighted several “super” foods that can quick start a healthier you!
There are many smoothie recipe books available, but this one adds so much more. Here are some of those highlights
• The Big 15 section includes foods that are all high in key nutrients. There is a section for each one which delves in to the specific nutritional profile, common forms, where to find, and prep tips. I found this helpful and well organized.
• The Getting Started section includes smoothie basics, blending tips, general prep tips, trouble shooting, and equipment review.
• Additional sections include suggestions for building your superfood stash, uses for leftover smoothies, and money-saving tips for purchasing superfoods. There are two awesome tables for superfood doses and combinations that go well together. These two tables alone could save your smoothie creations from being undrinkable. It can be super frustrating to spend time and money on food that is not fun to eat or drink.
Once you have the basics down, it is time to starting blending! The recipe section is divided into two parts: Superfood Base-ics and Superfood Boosts. There are a total of 130 recipes to start you on your smoothie journey. The recipe format is super easy to follow which includes a brief description, ingredients, steps, and a tip for this recipe. One thing I found helpful is each recipe has a key as to its specific benefit; such as, kid friendly, heart health, weight loss, immunity boost, and etc. To easily find these specific recipes, the index will have them listed for you under that category!
There are 24 kid-friendly recipes! One of my grandsons and I made the Almond Butter and Banana Pick-Me-Up for our afternoon snack. I like to make smoothies a little thick and place in a bowl for preschoolers so they can practice using a spoon. It was a great afternoon snack after a walk to the park that won’t affect his or my appetite before dinner.
I think this is a great book for anyone that enjoys smoothies or wants to begin adding smoothies to their diet for their health-promoting strength. My full review can be seen here https://www.chroniclesinhealth.com/in...

With so many smoothie books on the market, this would have to be really good in order to stand out. After all, there are only so many ways to make a decent and drinkable smoothie. Surprisingly, there is a lot of info, great recipes, and it's all nicely presented. With a focus on super foods (the trendy thing nowadays), it is also relevant.

The book breaks down as follows: Introductory info; Part One: Superfood Base-ics (common berries, bananas, nuts and seeds, dark leafy greens, yogurt and kefir, avocado, beets, oats); Part Two: Superfood Boosts (cinnamon, cocoa, ginger, turmeric, green tea and matcha, pomegranate and acai, chia); Substitutions Cheat Sheet, Conversion Chart, The Dirty Dozen and Clean 15, Resources, References.

The introduction is very informative, with several pages on the basics, getting started, blending tips, prep tips, equipment recommendations, troubleshooting, what to do with extras, shopping and finding the best/most quality ingredients, options to save money, using and mixing superfoods, recommended superfood doses, best combinations, using the recipes to reap the benefits you want, and dairy info. In all, quite comprehensive.

The layout of the book is clean and vibrant, with large colored text and each recipe taking up a single whole page. Each page has the recipe name, some info/introductory info, benefits (e.g., anti-inflammatory or energy boost), servings and prep time, ingredients in bold type and between two red lines to stand out, then the steps in simple numbered paragraphs. There are also options to power up the smoothie (e.g., add 1 cup of spinach for vitamins) and then calorie/fat/sugar/cabs/fiber/protein numbers.

There are only a few photographs but I don't feel they are as important in this type of recipe book - all smoothies typically end up in a glass and are only differentiated by color or perhaps texture. At the end of the book, you'll find the usual conversions and helpful information including substitution recommendations.

In all, I've enjoyed these recipes a lot and appreciated the time that went into compiling them as well as the introductory information. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher

A lot of people make smoothies because it's basically like a liquid popsicle. However, for me and my family, we use them as a chance to get the extra nutrition that our body needs. For that reason, I love how each smoothie recipe is labeled for its health benefits. From anti-aging to immunity boost to meal swap, it's an easy way to navigate and decide what smoothie to make based on your current needs. It also has a very informative chart letting you know superfood doses per smoothie, as well as superfood combinations for optimal taste. Using this chart prevents the oh so common mistake of adding too much of one ingredient. Eyeballing doesn't seem like a bad idea until your smoothie is undrinkable.

The chapters are organized by superfood: Common Berries, Bananas, Dark Leafy Greens, etc. This makes it very easy to navigate. The photos are minimal. but really, how many pictures of smoothies do you really need? Each recipe has an educational blurb at the beginning highlighting one of the ingredients and the benefits. All of the recipes are easy to follow and the ingredients are readily available at your local grocer. Nutritional breakdown is also available. There is a "Power Up!" option that recommends an additional superfood add-in for an extra boost of nutrients.

We have tried a handful of the smoothies and they have all turned out amazing. Our favorites so far have been the Blueberry-Kale-Pom Antioxidant Kick and the Seductive Green Goddess. I highly recommend this book for parents that struggle to get their kids to eat the proper amount of fruits and veggies. Make it a fun experience and let them help you prepare the smoothie. Not a liquid fan? Try pouring the smoothie into popsicle molds for a "special" treat and they will be none the wiser. I definitely intend on purchasing a physical copy for myself.

I received an advanced digital copy from the publisher, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

The first section focuses on basic fruits and vegetables used to make smoothies while the second part gets into spice enhancements. Each recipe tries to include a type of fiber, protein, fat, and liquid. One of the most helpful entries is a super food ingredient amount, combination, flavor, and health benefits chart. Be sure to check the ingredient list before starting a recipe.
