Beloved author Anne Rockwell takes young readers through the year, as each season brings new surprises and discoveries.
In the spring, leaves sprout, showers come, and it's time for planting. Bees buzz and roses bloom as summer arrives. The fall turns pumpkins orange and leaves red and gold, and the wind grows cold. In wintertime, snow twirls down, and the flames in the fireplace leap and glow. Next year, it will all happen again, but it will be a little different, too. Everything is always growing and changing on a farm. Megan Halsey's charming collage illustrations are the perfect complement to this delightful introduction to the wonders of the seasons.
A little girl tells us the story about how she experiences the four seasons living on her farm. Used as a read aloud, children will discover approximately when the seasons begin and what types of weather we experience during their tenure. Kids can relate to going pumpkin picking or watching the leaves change during fall or going swimming in the hot summer months. Beautiful illustrations make each page come to life and certainly make it relevant.

Very basic picture book showing various activities as the seasons change. But no info given as to why the seasons change. Good season activities illustrated.
A little bit long for me, but I’m excited to experience Fall! I was born in winter, enjoyed my first spring, and now I’m having fun learning all about the hot summer! 🌱☀️🍁❄️
This is a great book about the seasons as well as a great writing tool. I would use this book to teach a lesson about the seasons. One activity that I have done in first grade to teach about the seasons was the bring in a bunch of items that would be used in different seasons and had the students sort them according to which season each item would most likely be used in. Then I had them make a seasons book about their favorite things to do in each season.
This book is also beautifully written and uses a unique craft of writing. I would use this book to teach my children writing as well as the parts of speech.
Four Seasons Make a Year is a nonfiction book about the four seasons. The book describes Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall and all the characteristics that encompass the four seasons. This book can be used in a literacy lesson to teach descriptive writing or the power in adding details. Anne Rockwell uses description when describing each seasons. She uses each of the 5 senses to describe the seasons. Students can use these same descriptive techniques in their own writing.
This book describes the characteristics of the 4 seasons. It includes many of the things that grow and happen during these seasons. I would use this book to create our own story of the 4 seasons. I would tell the students that we will each be researching a season and adding our own personal experiences to each of the season. Each student will have a season and write a few facts about their season. They will also have the opportunity to illustrate a picture for their writing.
This book would be great to introduce a seasons unit to elementary school students. Climate, weather, and changes in trees and flowers are all discussed as the story progresses from spring to summer to fall and to winter.
This book would be great to introduce seasons to students. The book addresses weather and changes in trees and flowers across the seasons. This book gives a wonderful visual of each season. It shows the changes and is easy to follow.
What a great story and wel illustrated to use when teaching a new unit on seasons. You could use this book for science and there are many activities you could create from this book such as comparing the seasons and how our world around us change accordingly.
This is a great book when teaching about the seasons and weather. It talks about what types of things you see during each season and what happens to the weather. This book would be great for kindergarten through second grade.
I liked this a lot. Sometimes it's hard to explain the seasons when they really don't change dramatically where we live. This is perfect in helping to do so.
This book is GREAT for the seasons. It shows the changes of each season and tells the months of each season. Easy to follow and the children loved the pictures. Highly suggest this book.
This book is lengthy but has really good illustrations and detail about the 4 seasons. Good book to tie literacy to science and to assess comprehension.
I will use this book. This book gives a wonderful visual of each season. It also provide sound information in an entertaining way. I would use this to aid in a season science lesson.
Talks about the four seasons in the north eastern part of the US. Tells what happens on a farm during the changes of the seasons. Grade level for children k-3. Wonderful illustrations too.
