I love the Rockford High series, but I struggled with the main character, Amanda, in this one. Amanda is very passionate about her causes and fails to see other sides to the issues, which drives a wedge between her and Cole, the guy who's been crushing on her forever.

Cole comes across as more mature and light-hearted than Amanda, and he totally captured my heart. I loved the anonymous texts he sends and the way he connects with Amanda through them. I also loved the way Amanda was with this mysterious texter--how she loosened up and let go. The service aspect was great and a good way to think outside of one's self, especially when it's easy to be self-absorbed at this age.

However, this is a well-written and cute opposites attract story and I enjoyed the time I spent with these characters at Rockford High.

Content: mild romance

I'm enjoying this YA series about a group of high school friends, and have liked most of the characters, but I think I'd have a hard time being friends with Amanda. She's involved with a lot of good causes--a race to raise money for the animal shelter, bringing awareness to trash in the ocean, etc, but she's VERY passionate about the town's long-neglected opera house being torn down. Her reasons behind it are personal and I understood that, but she seemed to be a little too close-minded to the reasons why the building should be demolished.

On the other hand Cole is a doll. He came across as more mature and reasonable in this thinking. I thought his anonymous texts with Amanda were cute and a great way to get to know her since she was so angry with him. Amanda was different with her nameless texter--she opened up about her reasons why the opera house meant so much to her.

This is an enjoyable opposites attract story that's a clean romance. I received a complimentary copy. All thoughts expressed in my review are mine and freely given.

Not a fan of the main character, Amanda. I thought she was whiny and self-centred. Cole was a much more level-headed character and more mature.
The book is well written and a sweet, clean romance.

This book was really good.

***Just dumped a bunch of spoilers throughout this review****

See, I was waiting for Cole and Amanda's story to come out. Because like Destiny and Eli. I knew they both had a thing for one another, especially with the way they always were bickering. More so, Amanda catching attitudes with Cole; lol. Which I thought was ridiculous but also understood, especially when you are passionate about something.

But in the end, they both came to an understanding of why she cared so much about the Opera house, and he can’t do anything or want to stand up to his controlling father. But in the end, he talked to his dad and the Opera house and finding a way to save it for the one girl he cared so much about “Amanda.” Which I thought was a good thing! Though she also understood that it wasn’t, Cole fought that he wasn’t the one to demolish the building.

I kind of was with Amanda when she ended up telling Cole her story before they kissed. Because all those essential documents and costumes and the picture of her parents in there too and learning where they met... it makes you said to learn someone wanting to destroy a building that seems essential. I always say when there are empty buildings, you can always make something out of it instead of making it go to waste. It makes me said, especially when you can make it out of something important, like for kids or anything activity-wise.

Learning well, no knowing this book is fiction. I came to see where I live how a lot of building here is going to waste even housing when you could either rent or make something of it. But at least Cole's dad was concerning selling the Opera house to the Lily foundation but also trying to make that place into a parking garage. Lord knows a parking garage is needed in a lot of places. Especially a busy street. But he considered his son's idea and also moving it into another area. Which I thought was a good idea...

Between that, I am soooooo ready for Amanda's older sister Stephenie book with the guy Brandon 🤣 since she clearly didn’t know she was blasting out a famous actor on her Vlog until he sent her a picture with her name and also shouting out her Vlog on his Twitter. I gotta keep myself updated on when “DON’T TRASH BRANDON TRAVERS” coming out, especially when she sends out emails.

Short and Sweet

Cole likes Amanda, but his father is the one tearing down the Opera House that she’s desperate to save. When Amanda stops talking to him in real life he starts sending her text messages from a secret admirer. This reminded me of a favorite movie, You’ve Got Mail. Cole knows he’s Amanda’s enemy, but he’s hoping if she can just get to know him better, maybe they’ll have a chance.

I loved Amanda’s passion for her causes. She is a girl who knows what she wants and goes after it. I loved Cole’s desire to support and understand her. Their first kiss was adorable, as was the conversation after it.

This was a quick, happy read that will make you smile, and maybe even want to go serve someone else.

Content: clean (a few kisses, no language or violence)

Part of the Rockford High series. Characters overlap, but each book can be read independently.

Awe, I really liked it. It was super cute. Fast and furious but cute and sweet. I loved what he did and that I think she secretly hoped it was him all along. Kind of like sleepless in Seattle, only much closer. Although, it left a cliff hanger wide open for hopefully the next book.

Listened to this on YouTube.

This high school, mild romance story involving Cole and Amanda centres around Amanda being passionate about the levelling of an old building while Cole is caught between a rock and a hard place. He wants to support Amanda but has a major problem due to how his dad is involved.

Beautiful scene between the two main characters as Amanda explains why she is so passionate about the building in very special and significant surroundings.

Loved the secret texter theme where the characters truly reveal themselves. Lovely clean story for teenagers!

This book is better than the previous one. It's true that I'm not a fan of Amanda because I think she's selfish and whiny and thinks she's the only good one in the world and wants everyone and everything to go according to her!
But I loved Cole, he's funny and sweet and I loved the idea of talking to her without her knowing who that's always a good romantic idea.

Cole likes Amanda and lets her know at a Halloween dance. Only problem: Cole's father is the one destroying the opera house, the building Amanda is trying to save.

Cole begins sending Amanda anonymous texts, getting to know her better. What will she do when she finds out it's her enemy?

I've enjoyed this series. Easy and smooth to read. The plot is simple. The characters a little complex. Makes a great pair. I look forward to the next book.

Cole and Amanda have an interesting friendship. Cole is definitely more committed to their friendship than Amanda, as she is kinda Aloof. I liked that Cole found a way to get to know Amanda with out her defenses up. I also love that Cole was able to save the day.

This was a fun and different take on the enemies trope. I really enjoyed their closeness and some of the memories and carefreeness. It was a lovely addition to this series.

How many times in one book can 2 people say "I'm sorry" to one another?! Cole and Amanda say it a LOT to one another. Lol. Their story is cute, at least. :)

I really enjoyed the first couple, but the last two have been rather meh. Nothing special. Maybe 2 is harsh... so I'll say. 2.5 Stars. I don't know if I'll continue or not.

Don't Kiss Your Enemy #4 - I have enjoyed the few books I have read by Ms. Lieske, and I do not care for this age group. While this story has a formula similar to Dear Adam, it is a sweet, funny and clean story. Quickly read, this well written, sorta hokey, story makes for a pleasant, relaxing time well spent. The storylines and characters are good and the characters show maturity not common nowadays in Indie books.

I cannot name a favorite of Ms. L's books in this series, but it has been a delightful set. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*

Falling For My Best Friend #7 – While this is not a favorite genre or age group for me, I found two characters in this story adorable. They both shared a good level of maturity and brains instead of the usual stupid Hollywood children models. These two young adults competed with the good storylines making this a hard to put down story.

I enjoyed the way their romance progressed over time instead of in three minutes and how they handled their feelings. Yes, she acted a bit like the typical high schooler when it came to a certain guy she wanted, but the rest of the time she didn’t. the support characters were all good in their roles, even the Meanies. This is the second story I’ve read by Ms. Lieske and I enjoyed them both. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*

Don’t Trust the Impostor #3 – I have read both books in this series and cannot make up my mind which I enjoyed more. A small claim, this is not my favorite genre nor is the age group one I care to read about since most writers make the kids too stupid to tolerate. But Ms. Lieske does a wonderful job writing about her kid characters, their dialogues and their actions. While there are the mean kids, the geek kids and the other kids, all the good kids have so much going for them.

Eli is such a wonderful person, full of love and compassion. He has problems but does not whine; he does the best he can and always in a positive light. Des is a typical teenager, concerned about being popular but still comes up smelling like a rose when the popular crowd goes against her. A feel good, happy story that goes so well with the first book in the series. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*

Love, Snow and Mistletoe – A group of short stories by four authors. Each story has on overview, which I appreciate knowing before I read a book. Three of these authors I have read a story of theirs and I enjoyed two of them. There are sneak peeks at other books by the authors. I contacted Ms. Lieske to review LS&M. 4*

Victorine E. Lieske, Her Fake Christmas Date – Another fun read by Ms. Lieske. Well written and engaging, with likeable and loveable characters, this is a delightful story to relax with over a cuppa. 4*

Tamie Dearen, Holiday Rescue – I didn’t read Ms. Dearen’s story since I did not like her other stories I have read.

Michelle Pennington, A Second Chance for Christmas – I have enjoyed other stories by Ms. Pennington, but I found Grace immature in her thought s and actions, and she ruined a good story for me. The old friend and her daughter are nice, likeable characters. 3*

Annie Houston, The Billionaire’s Perfect Match – This is my first story by this author and I enjoyed it. The storyline was interesting and the characters were interesting and likeable. This is another good story for relaxing with a cuppa and a fur baby. 4*

Better than I was expecting

This hasn't been my favorite series by the author, and Amanda hasn't been my favorite character so I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this, but being between reads decided to go ahead & try it - and was pleasantly surprised.

For starters, this is not another insta-love which is an insta-point in its favor. Amanda and Cole have known each other for a while, but just can't seem to get past their own issues to move up from friendship to something more.

Amanda gets mad at Cole for irrational reasons & he's trying to figure out how to make it up to her. Normally, this would irritate me because it's totally unreasonable BUT Cole realizes it's more emotion than logic & just wants to help Amanda thru her pain - AND EVEN BETTER, Amanda recognizes that she's being unreasonable & apologizes to Cole. Yay, character growth and development!

While the resolution is convenient, it's still believable & surprisingly not patly dealt with by the story's end. The ending is the beginning of the characters' moving forward at last.

Refreshingly moving away from the standard clichés and keeping things real enough - two enthusiastic thumbs up!

😊 I have read every story in this Rockford High series and this is another enjoyable, sweet, simple high school romance with an upbeat ending and a brief glimpse into the next story in the series.

For juniors Amanda and Cole there's some frustration and disagreement, but the couple's major issue ultimately can't destroy their budding romance. Amanda has her causes and the one dearest to her heart because it connects her to her past threatens to wreck her present by pushing Cole away.🙁 I liked the realization that Cole has been presuming what his father is thinking and how he will react rather than just confronting him. When he does, Cole is quite surprised that his father is hardly the narrow-minded businessman who thinks of nothing but the business bottom line! 💵

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Amanda is a wonderful girl who seems to focus much of her time on causes.
She is helping prep for the Halloween Dance.
Cole seems to like Amanda, so he volunteers to help for the dance too.
As Cole gets to know Amanda, he realizes that he likes her.
Only one problem. One of her causes is in conflict with his life.
He works for his father, who is a business man. Amanda is working to stop a big business from tearing down the old Opera House, where many plays took place, and where Amanda's parents met.
Cole comes up with a plan, he starts texting Amanda anonymously. They start getting to know each other better, and something happens. He starts to warm up.
As they get to know each other. Both of them start to bend.
Only a compromise can allow them to become a couple.
I loved this series. Victorine is a very talented author. I am very pleased to be able to read her books.

A clean read YA book

Amanda couldn’t seem to keep her foot out of her mouth long enough for her to give Cole a real chance. She inevitably would get offended and mad about something and then immediately be hit with remorse after. Cole was determined though. He didn’t let his friend and crush just walk away and push him out of her life. I liked that they apologized often and really tried to talk out their problems. For their age, high school juniors, that showed a lot of maturity. Sweet story but I was a little disappointed with where the story ended. Just wanted to know more of what was going to happen to some of the loose story threads, maybe in the next book it will give more closure.

Another sweet clean read by Victorine. This is part of the Rockford High series. They can be read as stand alone but characters from previous books are in the books. This one is the story of Cole and Amanda. Amanda’s has her causes. Cole has had a crush on her for years and is finally getting Amanda to notice him as a romantic interest. But Amanda just found out that Cole’s dad is the one tearing down the Opera house that Amanda holds dear for personal reasons. Cole doesn’t know what else to do so he starts texting her using an app that keeps him anonymous. Amanda has to find a way to stop blaming everyone when she doesn’t get her way and Cole has to find a way to be more sensitive to Amanda’s causes.

Not my age group, but still enjoyed book.
Even though it has been before Columbus when I was in high school I do enjoy reading this series. The characters remind me of some of the people I knew in school whiny, self-center very dramatic when it came to love or hate. Then there were the mature classmates who used their brains these were the people I looked up and are still friends with today. This one was a cute story and a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon reading. I like how the author develops her characters and her ability to make them realistic. I would recommend this author and this book. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

This was ok for a clean teen read. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 4* rating. I think my granddaughters would enjoy it. The one thing that bothered me the most was that the parent's were absent a little too much. Of course in this day and age, many are left to their own devices.
