This reads like a simplified version of Benazir Bhutto's autobiography,Daughter of the East, meant for children.

It is a fawning portrait of Benazir and her father, former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. They could do no wrong, they were very good,Zia was very bad.

It has chapter headings like,A Heroine Returns and Serving the People. It starts from her student days, life at Harvard and Oxford and moves to the coup against her father and his hanging.

Then,Benazir's time in prison, exile, her return to Pakistan and marriage to Asif Zardari.Following the death of Zia,she became prime minister for a year and a half. She accomplished nothing much as prime minister but the book makes it sound as if she did.

The book was written at at that time and is obviously a propaganda document.Still,it gives an overview of her life till that point in quick time.Die hard Bhutto fans may enjoy it.

This book reads like a early highschool student's quarterly paper. It is terribly written and does not even attempt to be objective. It highlights trivial information (ex. the interior design of the Prime Minister's office), but leaves out essential historical and political information that would help the reader obtain a clearer understanding of Bhutto's life and of modern Pakistan more generally.

So far this is a good book for middle school students to use to learn about Benazir Bhutto and author bias.

This biography on Benazir Bhutto is out dated due to its publication in 1990. If readers would like addition information about her dismissal of office in 1990 and subsequent return to power in 1993-1996, where she was dismissed again, and finally her assignation in 2007, or any of the topics in between, addition material would be needed. That being said I really enjoyed this look into Bhutto’s life, reading about her struggles and fearlessness were further reminders of how truly blessed I am to have been raised in a democratic society.
