Their life is hectic, filled with terrible twos, teething, and temper tantrums . . . but Darryl and Wanda wouldn't have it any other way! Since 1990, the MacPhersons have staked their engaging claim on the comics page with their realistically wild-eyed and worn-down reaction to parenting. We watched as Wanda gave up her job to be a stay-at-home mom, wondered how the couple would handle countless sleepless nights, and laughed when they unexpectedly found themselves expecting. Now, as Zoe grows into a walking, talking toddler and newborn Hamish learns how to roll over, the couple's pride, joy, and exhaustion reaches even greater heights. Winners of the National Cartoonists Society's Best Comic Strip of the Year for 1995, Baby Blues creators Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott continue to entertain readers around the worlds. "If there's one service that we provide, it's to let parents know that they're not alone," says Kirkman. "I think it's comforting for readers to know that no matter how unmanageable life can get for them, Darryl and Wanda probably have it worse," adds Scott. One More and We're Outnumbered! follows parenthood classics such as I saw Elvis in My Ultrasound , Guess Who Didn"t Take a Nap? and I Thought Labor Ended When the Baby Was Born . Through them all, endearing illustrations and dead-on dialogue provoke laughs of recognition and keep fans clamoring for more.
Rick Kirkman is a cartoonist and co-creator of the comic strip Baby Blues. He received the National Cartoonist Society Newspaper Comic Strip Award in 1995, and the Reuben Award in 2012 for his work on the strip. He also served as co-executive producer of The WB animated television series of Baby Blues.
Well into the year I have spent buying and reading all of the Baby Blues books, I obtained this early volume, dating from the late 1990s. In it Daryl and Wanda are still evolving in drawing and characters. Zoe is still a young toddler, and Hammie gets to just walking. Some of the funniest strips are as Daryl has to explain the "Hamish" and "Hammie" names to everyone! Wanda's father has a heart attack and Wanda has to take infant Hammie with her on a plane to see him while Daryl has to survive at home on his own with Zoe. And there is the infamous "Whistling Monkey Cowboy Band!" I remember my own children endlessly watching the "Wiggles" years ago. Anyone who enjoys young children will enjoy reading this book and I think it a very good reflection of the earlier strips for someone newer to Baby Blues to see some of the more classic strips. Despite its age the book is not dated at all; so many adventures of young parenthood are timeless!
One of the few Baby Blues books that I didn't own. It continues the story of Darryl and Wanda trying to keep their heads above water while raising Zoe and Ham while preparing to add another baby to the madness. These books are great gifts for those who are starting their lives as a family of more than two. The first book in the series is one of my favorites to gift at baby showers.
The trials of parenthood continue. One in the terrible twos- the other under 6 months old.
And almost the whole time I was reading this was a) thank you Mother Nature for not giving me kids and b) all my Childcare Teacher instincts kicking in
My favorite Baby Blues comics are always the ones where the kids are youngest, before Wren... They were so much funnier before 'modern times' took over.
Baby Blues 08: One More and We're Outnumbered! (Baby Blues Scrapbooks #8) by Rick Kirkman, Jerry Scott - One of Dad's Christmas presents! I love baby Zoe so very much! Happy Reading!
Läste mest den här för att mina föräldrar skulle slänga den, och antar att det räknas som en av böckerna jag läst i år, men det är knappt att jag tycker ens det. Var roligt antar jag.
