Lips Like Surgar is an exciting new collection celebrating women’s erotic imagination.
Violet Blue is known for erotica anthologies depicting joyful, unabashed sex that is dished up without qualifiers or apologies. The stories in this volume, written by both veteran and new voices, feature women on top, bottom, and everyplace in between. Running the gamut from sweet to scintillating to downright raw, they cover just about every conceivable sexual scenario
Elizabeth Colvin’s “Daddy’s Boy” stars a demanding domme and her bend-over boyfriend. Debra Hyde’s “Accidental Exhibitionist” explores the thoughts of corseted slavegirl Cara as she models her new fetish gear and services her master in public. Teresa Lamai’s “Idyll” finds poetry and passion in a scorching three-way set in Croatia. And Carolina John’s “The 9:30 to Edinburgh” shows just how accommodating a British train compartment can be to a group of sexually charged strangers.
Violet Blue has authored and edited over 40 books, including five (Bronze, Silver and Gold) IPPY award-winners, some of which are now in eight translations. Violet was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show, when Ms. Winfrey featured Violet's book on women and pornography (11/17/09). That book is also excerpted and featured on Oprah Winfrey's website, as well as in O, The Oprah Magazine.
Violet owns and operates Digita Publications (digitapub.com), an indie digital publisher of e-books and audio books. Rather than a royalty system, Digita books share all sales with the authors fairly and transparently, featuring books in both DRM-free versions and for Kindle on Amazon.
Her online sexuality blog, Tiny Nibbles, is one of the Internet's longest-running sex blogs, and has won many accolades and awards. For her day job, Ms. Blue is a journalist on hacking, crime, cybersecurity, privacy, and at-risk populations for outlets ranging from Engadget to CNET, and occasionally outlets like CBS News, CNN and O the Oprah Magazine.
Review by BookAddict (LaCrimsonFemme) Author: Violet Blue Book Title: Lips Like Sugar Ever want to read some hot sexy stories without angst? Lips Like Sugar is a delightful collection of smexy hot stories designed to make a female reader’s panties wet. Now, this is not to say a male reader won’t enjoy it. Both sexes reading this hot book will want more. Ms. Blue is a well known blogger and sex educator. It is no surprise a book edited by her is filled with some of the hottest fantasies.
In most short stories collections, the stories leave a reader confused and wondering what just happened. It’s as if only a couple of chapters have been provided. Ms. Blue’s collection is filled with story after story with a beginning, middle and end. And each one leaves the reader wanting more. The different permutations of sexual positions as well as sexual partners in the stories will appeal to many different readers. For the hedonist, the variety will delightfully satiate a voracious appetite.
Each story is tightly written. While the focus of the story is a sexual fantasy, the characters are not left wooden or plain. The characters in many of the stories are titillating. A few of them, such as the main female character in The 9.30 to Edinburgh are annoying. Even in this short story where Alison is a stuck up little bitch, the sex between her and two strangers is HOT!
Since this reader is on a pegging kick right now, the hottest story is The First Stroke. Following hard on its heels is The Accidental Exhibitionist. Ms. Hyde does a great job with humiliation mixed with D/s. It’s a humiliation slut’s depraved debauchery filled with a demanding Dom and his kinky orders. The third runner up is Crazy from the Heat which is a hot f/f show. This little cock tease of a story will most likely cause a riot in real life. This kinky collection is highly recommended to erotic readers who enjoy all sorts of sensual fantasies.
For me, a good erotica collection has the right balance of story length and pacing, and while the writing of course does not have to be Pulitzer-worthy, it shouldn’t be so bad that it’s distracting. Lips Like Sugar comes up a bit short for me, but if nothing else, it has brief moments of providing a really good time.
Maybe I was looking for something a bit more than what seemed to be simply very short essays of fantasies. 19 "stories" in 167 pages ranging from boredom to wishing a longer story, more development. I don't blame the book, I blame my expectations of it from some of the reviews. So, let me be honest.. would I get this or recommmend it, not really but about 4 stories really stand out and let you, the reader, get a taste and style of writing from multiple authors.
I enjoyed every story but I was particularly thrilled with ENDYMION and COPS AND ROBBERS. I thought IDYLL was unique and possibly thrilling in a different sort of way.
