My cocky pilot is the love of my life, so why does my heart flutter every time I’m near the shy techie, gorgeous doctor, and mysterious bounty hunter?
The men on my spaceship are fighting over me, and my boyfriend is having none of it. If that’s not enough, I’m stuck with a gruff soldier who’s refusing to follow my orders—and refusing to wear pants.
Trapped on a cramped ship, there’s no escaping their smoldering looks and sizzling touches. There’s also no escaping my growing feelings for all five of them.
When my greatest enemy returns, I need to hold this crew together and keep my feelings in check to fight for our lives and for the future of the galaxy.
Can I navigate the stars as well as my own heart to save the universe?
A Star Pilot’s Hero is a reverse harem space opera, featuring a bad-ass heroine, sexy rebels, and gripping space battles. It’s a combination of Firefly and Star Wars with a RH twist.
This is the second in a medium-burn series (the harem grows one man at a time, but there is sex in each book).

And now I finished the second book in this series, I'm officially ready for the third book to be released soon! I already knew I was gonna like this book. I read some other books by both authors and not once have I encountered one I didn't enjoy. I also really enjoyed the previous book in the series. The true question was: How much was I gonna like this? By the way: I love the "previously on..." included in this book! It's a great idea to have a recap of the first book in this one and I hope they'll do so again in the next book.
Let me say first that the plot of this book isn't the most complicated one: The universe needs to be saved and to do so our crew needs to find one person. They started their search in the first book and, spoiler alert, although they came a little closer in this one, they're not there yet. It's not a plot heavy book. Actually, the plot is nothing but a reason to bring these characters together and to send them on adventures through the universe. It's not that important. It's not always a success formula, but in this case it works.
Why? Because the authors create an amazing mix between every possible situation you can imagine. We have funny moments, where I literally chuckled and laughed out loud because the interaction between the characters was hilarious. We have thrilling moments, where the characters are fighting for their lives and have to save each other time and time again and where I move to the etch of my seat. And, we also have touching moments, where the characters grow and learn, where we get to know them a little bit better, where we get to see them caring more and more about each other.
And for this to work the characters need to be amazing. And they are. All characters, from the villains to the heroes and everything in between, have interesting back stories and are more than they seem. They all have done things in the past that maybe weren't that great. They all made decisions eventually hurting others. But they also all do good and nice things. Some only for a few people, some for more. And each of these characters is unique. It's easy to tell them apart, even easier to remember which story is about whom.
I could also talk about the interesting intelligent scheming, but I'll leave that for the next book. When it comes out. And I hope it's gonna be soon!
While this is looking like a great binge series, if you have some time in between books the authors added a recap at the beginning which I really liked! If you enjoy adventure with steam you’re going to love this
This book picks up right where the first one ends. Just when Cal and her crew thought they had things figured out everything changes. Castor is still hot on their tails and Cal isnt sure who she can trust. Some great steam in this book and hilarious pick up lines.
The story continues with Cal trying to keep the peace and her crew alive on ship. We slowly get to know more about the characters and see them hind together a little more. Packed with excitement drama romance and humour this is a great read, cannot wait for the next book
Daring Rogue is the second book in Eva Denaleny’s Star Pilot series. The danger and thrill ride continue as Cal and her crew of men finds themselves stranded in deep space without a jumpgate to help them along their journey. Their mission is in peril as the clock is ticking against them to find Agent Winters and acquire the information that she has. But secrets and lies continue to swirl all around them. Cal is still lying and judging those all around her, and things are getting more than a little sticky with Orion. Can Cal get her head on straight and make the right steps forward or are things going to come crashing down all around her and be declared “mission failed”? In Daring Rogue, the author literally has me all over the place. LOL! One minute I’m liking Cal and the next either her thoughts, attitude or mouth are irritating me and taking me back into “dislike central.” Cal likes to judge everyone around her and hold them to a higher standard than she holds herself. It’s annoying, to say the least. I keep waiting on her to come clean and face whatever the fallout maybe, but...that seems to be still pending. I do appreciate that she finally is taking some responsibility (in her head only) for her screw-ups. But Lord helps us if one of the guys (mainly Rux) points them out then she wants to go supernova and act like he’s out of line. When it comes to reverse harem novels, this series is literally one of the slowest builds. If you’re hoping for things to finally get moving in that arena...patience is going to be needed. Sparks are flying but Cal is still trying to “be loyal” to Orion. Orion really does get on my nerves as well in this book. His constant posturing and flexing with Cal in front of the men is annoying because it’s obvious he’s trying to start drama and flex at the same time. This book does have a lot of good elements going for it. I just need Cal to stop with the double standard and get her head on straight. Brace yourself for one major revelation and cliffhanger. It’s a good one. If you are like me and have mixed feelings about some of the characters, but love the storyline then pick this book up. It’s a 4.5 out of 5 stars for me and I’m looking forward to what comes next.
3.5 stars. I read both of the books in quick succession, they were really entertaining. It was the kind of book you read to give you the good feels and to let you switch off your brain for a merry little adventure, it isn’t something to stretch your mind.
At times it’s really frustrating because the team are constantly chasing their tails, and I mean constantly, it’s like their incapable of getting a win! They all lie to each other and rarely does anybody questions this. When they do there is conveniently (I say convenient because it allows the authors to suspend the mystery as long as they wish without much finesse) never enough time to talk about it, it’s always ‘we’ll come back to this’. So at times you do feel a bit strung along, and feel like you don’t really get much progression with the story/mission.
What makes you keep going and get over these nuisances is the charming and genuine dialogue between the characters. It definitely made me laugh out loud many times, and I was often rooting for their success.
Cali is a strong and independent character and I like that she was the commander of the crew, GIRL POWER! But I did find it odd that this confident commander was useless when she was talking to the opposite sex, I couldn’t quite get my head around how it could be the same person, because these different reactions were almost as if they came from two different personalities 🤷🏼♀️
They are quite possibly the worst team ever at rescuing anyone but they were fun and loveable while they were doing it. If it wasn’t for the fact that they want to fuck each other I would say it’s so lighthearted it could be YA.
Cal has already been in many precarious situations, but this one might be one of the worst. Prince Castor seems to be always one step ahead, and now that some secrets start to unravel, no one can be certain which alliances are true and where betrayal lies. Agent Winters is at the fingertips of the crew, yet tracking the spy may reveal more than just the intel. A slow burn RH sci-fi romance with one heroine that carries heavy burden and five men who complicate her life in different ways. They can be hilarious, childish, cheesy, hot, annoying, and infuriating, but they stick together with Cal through every situation. And everyone needs Mr. Pancake. The best character in the book, and with his own bonus POV - I absolutely adored that. I am, however, very curious what secrets are some of the crew members hiding..
Cal, a space smuggler, along with her ragtag crew of five opinionated men are trying to get the ship they stole from the Supremacy’s Prince Castor up and running after it died out in the middle of nowhere. As the story progresses finding a way to move again turns catty, childish games ensue, and just when she thinks she has a handle on everything reality kicks her upside the head. Eva Delaney and Vivi Clarke took the readers on a treasure hunt for love in A Star Pilot’s Daring Rogue. As Cal starts lowering her walls and opening up to the idea that her heart has room for more than one person, she seems to find herself in one sticky situation after another.
I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Steal a ship: check. Don't tell your crew you stole the ship: check. Mess up the mission: check. For a mission that was meant to go her way so she could ask for forgiveness from her higher-ups, nothing has gone to plan at all for Cal and her crew and they just seem to be digging their hole deeper and deeper, with no way of getting out of it.
There's one thing that will never disappoint you in this series, and that's the non-stop, action-packed storylines from start to finish. Cal and her crew literally get out of one mess, only to be thrown into yet another.
One tip is this, if you have the extra POVs at the end of the story, definitely read them. It gives a little insight into two of the characters and I was so there for it.
Love, love, love that there is a recap of book 1 at the beginning. I really wish more authors did this for subsequent books in a series. Cal and her crew are still looking for agent Wibters, but they definitely seem to be growing as a team, although here is still a lot of mistrust among them. I loved all the action, it was non stop throughout the book. They really did go from one sticky situation to another. We learn more about Polaris is this book as they visit his home land, and he and Cal have to face their feelings for each other. I'm still very intrigued with Andares, he is my favourite character - and after the ending, I need to know more about him. Looking forward to the next book.
Book 2 has us in a tailspin as we see so much. There is a ton of action, drama, and suspense. We learn a little more about our lovely characters and their lives. The story is extremely well written and developed. It draws you in and keeps you glued to it. I love how we see so many sides of several of the characters, from Cal to Polaris and the others. We the scheming and planning as they try to complete their mission. The story will have you on the edge of your seat with worry and happiness in different moments. We have suspicions that only adds to the story. I absolutely am excited as the ending of this book definitely has us waiting in anticipation for the next book.
As far as second installments in series go, this one was pretty good. It did slowdown in the middle for me but many the last third of the book was action packed. It was exciting and delicious to get a little more of a peek at Polaris and I love him for Cal once she finally made up her mind. I'm still super curious about Antares back story just like Cal. The spice in this book wasn't until the end but boy did it heat up. This book leaves off on a cliffhanger and I never saw this one coming. Our heroes are still in a race against time to find Agent Winters but by the end I think we have more enemies than we can handle.
Book 2 in Delaney's Star Pilot series. This book picks up where book 1 (Fearless Rebel) leaves off. A romance that has it all - drama, excitement and who doesn't love a little humor too?!? I love the balance Delaney gives us and the character dynamics are so well done. You will find yourself wrapped up in this read and ready for more!!! Well written with good storyline flow. Looking forward to book 3 (Renegade Spy).
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
I'm so loving this series. Book 2 picks up where book 1 ended. When I tell you that these characters are a hot mess. I still have mixed feelings towards Cal and her waffling feelings for the guys she so working my last nerves. I mean I was trying to cut her a little bit of slack I guess it's kinda hard to get your life when your in a middle of rebellion. Overall a great read. Also the bonus POV chapters were everything. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received by the opinions I have expressed are completely my own.
The second book of the sci-fi series. The danger, as always, is non stop. Cal tries her best to protect her crew but fate just doesn’t let up with the danger. We get to know the crew even more as some secrets are revealed. Cal continues to try and work on her relationship with Orion but her feelings for the others is not making things easy. The search for Winter goes from bad to insanely bad. Castor seems to find new ways of finding her and her crew. But we still don’t fully understand what he is trying to do behind his lies. Ending brings new surprises.
This is book two in the Star Pilot series and it picks up where book one left off. Cali and her crew can’t seem to catch a break, just when they seem to be out of danger, something happens to put them there once again. I really enjoyed Cali’s character growth in this book and we get to see a more vulnerable side of her. A terrific read filled with action, suspense, laugh out loud moments, and plenty of steam. I can’t wait for the next book!
I liked this second book so much more than the first. cal got on my nerves a bit and still does with her waffling on feelings for the guys. But I guess it’s hard to do a lot of soul searching in the middle of a rebellion. Plenty of action and suspense. Plenty of steam. Overall more enjoyable can’t wait for book 3.
This was really an amazing read that from the moment that you start you will be hooked on it and unable to put it down. It moves along at a really nice speed making for an enjoyable read. The characters are so real that you feel like you know them. This story will keep you turning pages till you reach the end. This is a book that needs to be on your TBR list, no doubt about it.
Cal continues her mission to save the rebel spy but as usual, nothing goes the way She wan'ts, better get, everything goes wrong! But at least She hás her crew os very sexy men that tempt her all the time. Is bad? Should She ignor her feelings for the sake of Orion? Or Will it be ok? Her nerdy geek is getting harder and harder to ignore. Pun intended!
Oh my, this was a fun read and I definitely got odd looks from the hubby when I cracked up ;) I am really enjoying this series and cannot wait to dive into the next book. It's all great fun and I highly recommend this series, and author, if you're looking for a sci fi romance read with great depth, humour and heat.
We are back with Cali and her space men in A Star Pilot's Daring Rogue! There is more growth with her relationships in book 2 as we learn more about each of the characters. There were some great moments for Cali, and it is interesting to see where it all will lead for them. I can't wait for book 3!
This series is a lot of fun! We continue the adventure, while getting to know the characters more. I am enjoying this series, it's fun, and different than my usual reads and I am very glad I picked this series up! It's well written, well paced, steamy and has diverse characters that I really have grown to like. I am excited to read the next book!
And I don’t just mean the plasma beams. Cal and her crew face the odds time and again picking up more along the way. Still on the mission but finding it reaching depths not thought possible before. But will Cal admit to herself that she is falling for each of her crew members? Will they find Winters? Will the defeat the uprising?
This book picks up right where book 1 left off, thank goodness!
Stranded with a broken ship and five men, Cal finds herself in a constant battle between the men. Each of these characters has such a unique personality and you really feel like you get to know them and their stories. I can't wait to see what happens next.
It’s been a hot second since I disliked a MFC so much. Still committed though because of the other characters and overall story. But OMG everything is about her and her regrets, her insecurities, it’s just never ending whining.
Oh and then there’s Orion. Ugh. I get his backstory trauma but he’s constantly popping up and making her insecure or undermining her authority. It’s 🙄
This is the second book in this series and in still completely hooked. I love the combination of sci-fi, comedy and romance. Calpurnia and her men are wonderful. I think she showed a lot of growth and I loved learning about Polaris and his background. I'm so excited to read book three and see what happens next with this crew.
This is the second book in the series. I love it just as much as the first book. Maybe more to be honest. You see growth in Cal and her men. You get more insight to everyone. And how they interact. There's so much that goes on. I won't say spoilers but just know you won't be disappointed. I am glad I went along for the ride. Onward to the next book.
Cal races off from Prince Castor in a stolen ship. Stranded in the middle of nowhere, she fights to keep the crew from tearing each other apart. From one hilarious situation to the next impossible one, this keeps you at the edge of your seat. It is a perfect mix of serious, hilarious and utter chaos. Love it and can't wait to follow Calpurnia and her crew on their next adventure.
Holy moly, this book ended with a bang. This book had laughs, evil, fights and love. It made me giggle with the one liners and cause mass frustration. But this was a great read overall
I really loved this book. It is super awesome. I loved the characters a lot. The book had a great reverse harem plot. I loved the romance so much. It was super steamy. I also loved how each of the guys really cared about their girl in their own sweet way. Nice book. Highly recommend.
