Haunted Souls #5

Ghost of a Chance

Rate this book
Psychic Copeland Forbes can’t get a good night’s sleep. His dreams are being haunted by two restless spirits, one crying out for his help and, the other bent on destroying him. Only able to communicate through dreams, the anguished spirit gives Cope just enough information to send him running back home to New Orleans to solve the mystery.

Ghost Detective Jude Byrne is against Cope going back to The Big Easy. It was trouble as long as the Mississippi that sent Copeland fleeing New Orleans in the first place but, if Cope insists on going, Jude is going to. To make the mission as safe as possible, Jude puts together a team of psychics, warlocks, and detectives he’s hoping are strong enough to keep everyone, namely Cope, safe.

When the spirits’ identities are revealed, tragedy strikes a member of the ghost detective team. Will help arrive in time or will they be left with only the ghost of a chance?

Sick of the slogging rat-race of her 9-5 job, Pandora Pine put pen to paper (literally!) to make her ambition of becoming a romance novelist a reality. She cut her teeth in the dog-eat-dog world of fanfiction, still dreaming of the day when she would be a published author. She lives in Massachusetts with her blabbermouth muse who’ s a fan of middle of the night plot twists.

In her spare time, Pandora fancies herself an amateur nature photographer. She enjoys mucking around in swamps, hiking through the woods and crawling around on her hands and knees in her backyard seeking out the perfect shot. Pandora is a fan of roadside seafood shacks and always thinks Mexican food is a good idea at the time.

Some of Pandora’s favorite things are chocolate, writing longhand with purple pens and handsome men falling in love with each other.

Don't miss Pandora’s seductive new novel coming soon to an e-reader near you.

4.5 stars as there were some unanswered questions at the end. What happened with Lucas? And the bad guy? Do they still have power or was it stripped, is it really over for those two? I'm glad that Copeland's father has "seen the light" as the saying goes & in death he has changed for the better. So we have Copeland dreaming about a screaming woman and a shadowed man. The dream gives Copeland enough information that he has to go back to New Orleans, which Jude is not on board with. Copeland has not been back since his near death(s) from his former lover & his former doctor. But they will not be going back alone, Tennyson & some of the guys are going to go with them as back up. I liked the investigation portion conducted by Ronan and Kevin, just like a police investigation. When Copeland finally figures out who the screaming woman is, he is floored. The shadowed man was a real piece of work and how he was torturing the screaming woman was horrible. There were some very scary moments when things happen to a couple of our players and I thought for sure we were going to lose someone. Yelling Crow has some more page time and find out that he & Bertha are now an item. I was happy to see them happy. I'm still wondering if Onyx and Dempsey are going to settle down together. I hope so.

Exasperating.

Ghost of a Chance is one of my least favourite books in the Cold Case Psychic universe. I was so exasperated with the characters. I was practically shouting at them "what are you all doing?? It's obvious xxx is the one behind it" Cope was just plain annoying and I nearly put this book down more than once because of it. Hopefully the next one will be better!!

Wow! Yet another fantastic addition to the Haunted Souls series! I found this one slightly different from the others, whether it was because it was a mystery that was on a more personal level for Copeland but the emotions were so much stronger for Jude and Cope as everything impacted them directly along with their whole family.
Copeland finds himself in a dream that seems entirely too real with two people who he cannot see, one woman screaming and a male voice that he recognises but cannot remember upon waking. Things become desperate for the couple as they work to find out who could be behind the dream visits. They call upon their chosen family and this is yet another thing that I absolutely love about Pandora's series'. The sense of family, love and support is there in spades as they pull together to fight against this latest foe.
Pandora has written a fantastic mystery for Jude and Cope to, well, cope with as we work through this story with them. Hints are few and far between as they try to figure out whoever is tormenting Cope and there are several suspects to question. There are a lot of scares, arguments and reconnecting moments for our MC's and a couple of surprise characters for Copeland that he was not expecting!
Cannot recommend this series enough and Ghost of a Chance is a wonderful continuation of Jude and Copeland's personal and work relationship. Looking forward to seeing where we go next with a couple of possibilities being mentioned for both men.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

"You know I worry about you. It's not that I don’t think you can handle yourself, it's just that my entire world would shatter without you in it." ~Jude

"Make every second of it count." I read this book at the edge of my seat. With so much going on with his boyfriend, Jude just needed Cope to know that he was loved. When a dream, a nightmare more like it,hinders Cope's sleep, Jude and Cope find themselves on the road to solving another mystery.

These were trying time. Not only was Cope affected by the most malevolent spirit Pandora Pine had ever written about, but the entire pack was in the path of a malicious spirit. Even though it took me a while to read this book that would have normally taken me mere hours to (thanks Dorian, says with sarcasm)... it was deep and filled with scary episodes. I will remember this one always and I look forward to getting Jude's past into the open.

Highly recommended. Get the book, pick up both series, and don't forget the spin-offs.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.

Jude and Cope and co are back in this intense, at times emotional story that sends the group to Cope’s hometown of New Orleans to figure out what the heck is going on. This one is tough for our MCs, with sleepless nights (being haunted by spirits at night does not really allow much sleep) and serious consequences they may not be able to escape. This one had me crying (a lot) more than once, and made my heart feel more full at times (seriously, guys, these two are so meant to be, and their friends are amazing too.. ahem, my Ronan especially). It also had me laughing out loud because the humor and camaraderie that is a hallmark of this series, and the entire Cold Case Psychic world, is still present in spades.. even with the stakes so high. I definitely recommend reading with tissues and possibly chocolate nearby. I can’t wait for their next adventure!

Also... GET IT BERTHAAAAA! :D

Jude and Cope are back with a new ghost mystery to solve. This time the case is far more personal to the happy couple and ghost hunter team. The latest case takes the men on a trip back to the Big Easy and is rife with action and adventure. We learn more about Cope and Jude's pasts respectively and the whole family comes along to help with the case that could be the end of one of the dynamic duo. A must read for all that love the Haunted Souls and Cold Case Psychic series. These books just keep outdoing each other. Another five star read by Pandora Pine that leaves me on the edge of my seat wanting more from my favorite universe.

Get ready for the ride of your life! Pandora Pine outdoes herself with this thrill ride of a book. There's action, humor, banter, romance and so much more. I was glued to my kindle while reading this story.
I loved getting to read more about Jude and Cope and go along with them on their adventures.

This time we are back in New Orleans as Cope goes on the case to find out who is haunting him. As usual the team go down there with him to crack the mystery.
It was a good one. I never guessed who the bad person was until it was revealed.
Roll on the next book.

Going Home

Psychic Copeland Forbes dreams are being haunted by two restless spirits, one in pain and the other bent on doing him harm. When it becomes clear the answers are in New Orleans. Cope and a reluctant Jude travel to his old home.

To protect Cope, Jude assembles a dream team of psychics, warlocks, and detectives. But soon discovers that Cope is not the only target. None of them are safe. As more information is gathered it becomes clear that someone wants to make sure that going home is the last thing that Cope ever does.

This Free Kindle Unlimited book had great characters as always and an excellent plot. Although I did figure out who the big bad was, it wasn't obvious at the beginning.

When Copeland begins to have nightmares, it's all Jude can do to help him. It draws them and the rest of the family back to New Orleans to help Cope find out who's attacking him and his mother's spirit. Who has that much rage and power. As they go through many suspects, and at the risk of all their lives, everyone still stands by Cope. Jude and Cope's relationship grows, and knowing that each can't live without the other, could have some devastating costs when the culprit is finally revealed. I really love these series, every time I read a new one it's like going back to see old friends, and the stories are fantastic.

The past always comes back to haunt us

I don't understand how Cope didn't figure out who this mystery menace was. We head back to New Orleans with the whole crew to stop whoever was stalking Cope in his dreams. What they figured out and what they loose scares them. Seeming hopeless with no way out. I don't want give anything away but did someone take the black magic away before Declan was arrested? How were the police able to hold him? Its never mentioned. I am off to read book 6 in the series.

Love Jude & Cope!

Haunted Souls has become my favorite Pandora Pine series:
Intriguing mysteries.
Plenty of action and adventure.
A strong sense of camaraderie among "misfits".
The love of a family chosen.
A beautifully loving relationship that grows throughout each book.
A few erotic moments, no matter what's going on, continuing the passionate nature of the love story between Cope & Jude.

Frustrating

I can't understand why nobody figured out who had it out for Cope for so long. I was getting increasingly frustrated. I even had a moment there that I wondered if the author forgot the plot line of her own book. And then they acted so surprised! There were several things that annoyed me but since I'm writing this review in the Kindle app which doesn't have hiders for spoilers I'll just keep it to myself. At least the epilogue was really good.

Love this!!!

Omg this was amazing!! Everything about this was amazing!! Like edge on your seat amazing! First off, I loved all the emotions that Jude and Copeland experienced. It wasn't just hearts and flowers with them, this time around, there was heartbreak, anger, passion, from both sides. You could actually feel the emotions from them.
This is definitely becoming one of my favorites. Can't wait to read more.

Oh poor Cope!!! My heart was just breaking for him. Just when he starts to feel safe and secure, the world seems out to get him. This was a great mystery with lots of twists and turns. I love this whole family. They all jump to help however they can, even when it means leaving babies at home. Can't wait to read more of these guys, and I hope poor Cope can really catch a break now.

Good story, but I guessed the mystery tormentor immediately. I’m getting really tired of Cope’s pissy attitude snits towards Jude. Jude has gone from Grade-A asshole to dream BF over the past several books, and doesn’t deserve Cope’s bitchiness. Cope also tends to make very stupid decisions. I hope that changes in the future, because it’s getting tiresome.

Okay, this one freaking destroyed me. Give me angst, family secrets, and revenge.. set it in NOLA, and I'm lost. There were some moments of "huh?" where I'm not sure if an editing thing got hecked up or I read too fast, but wow, did I love this one. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Cope goes back to New Orleans to find out what is going on and who is haunting him. He can't go alone, they all go with to help out and OMG I can't believe it. It was a great ending, even if there were some unanswered questions.

Here's to the next book.
