This is a wonderful book to read for anyone who is Catholic or just simply wishing to understand the teachings of the Catholic Church. From a Protestant view it was a very insightful book that cleared up so many misunderstandings about the faith that I believe many evangelicals still hold today. It is written in a very humble manner that is so common among Catholics. There is excellent scripture and historical reference throughout the book.

This is a great "reference" type book, which has a great index in the back for searching different topics. I will say that some bits veer toward some more liberal teachings--which is fine, but may not be 100% welcomed by all Catholics. I know that there have been several sections where I have read and re-read paragraphs, because I am surprised at the tone of the author in regards to the subject matter.

The books is downright heretical. The author stated in part, "Today theology is restudying the whole question of angels and devils." He goes on to state in much vague language that angels and demons even exist when in fact the Church has infallibly and authoritatively defined that angels do actually exist - the same with demons. The book should be completely avoided. It bears no authority and does not truly teach real Catholic doctrine. It is heretical

I was baptized catholic as a child, I left the church for a very long time...a priest I loved gave me this as a gift and it helped me understand that although I left the church, god would never leave me. Dear to my heart but a bit hard if you are like me and don't know your bible literature by hard. Still go back to it every once nada while and discover new things.
