The Fairies: Photographic Evidence of the Existence of Another World

Rate this book

An archeologist, a woman of science and logic, always believed fairies were the stuff of storybooks. That was before she made the discovery of a lifetime. After learning the secrets behind locating and luring these magical creatures out from hiding, she vows to travel all over the world photographing every fairy she can find.

This remarkable book is the result of her quest, the first set of fairy photographs the world has ever seen. Join our archeologist as she travels to remote parts of the globe in search of her mysterious subjects. Read about the details of her journey as she documents the events of each fairy discovery and see for yourself her results--amazing, dazzling photographs straight from another world. Images of these creatures, vibrant and luminous, are captured and catalogued, each one more astonishing than the next. There is no greater proof--fairies are real.

Some years ago a website was recommended to me (which I don't remember the name of now or if it's active or not) and it happened to be of Scalora's photography. Gods, goddesses, religious ideas...I was utterly amazed and simply fell in love with her style. Fairies is simply one of those books to page through for inspiration, for me anyhow, when it comes to writing or such.

I received this book for Christmas when I was very young and obsessed with fairies. At the time, I still 100% believed they existed and could be photographed, so I believed every photo was real.
I was deeply saddened when I found there was a page at the end of the book that credited the "models." I was so let down to learn these were not real fairies.

Still, it is an absolutely STUNNING collection of fairy photos.

Oh this book is GORGEOUS! Every photograph is like eye candy for the discerning eye. Of note is the use of many different races of model. Many different cultures and mythology are used here and reinterrpreted for a focus on the fey. It works beautifully.

I bought this book on a whim, mostly because Suza Scalora has been the photographer who creates the covers for Francesca Lia Block's books. I was happy to have spent the money and have bought 2 more of her books since this one and never regretted it.

Sumptious imagery is the best way to describe Scalora's work.

Very short but it has so many pretty and alluring photographs. This is one of those books that really allows you to suspend your disbelief and actually feel like the words on the page are truly authentic. Every now and then it's nice to believe in fairies again.

I read this when I was 12. I read it about 4 times in a row and then re-checked it from the library. Stunning photos of models that look like real fairies, and such a fun book of fantasy photography.

This book is magical. Each picture is beautifully imaginative and well detailed. Lovely back stories to go with the pictures brings more light to your imagination. Love love love going back and looking at these delicate pictures. True they are not real fairies but it sure makes you wish they were.
