Harem of Fire #2

The Heat of the Dragon's Heart

Rate this book

They saved her life. Can she save theirs?

My guys saved me from a deadly attack by enemy dragons, but that doesn’t mean we’re out of danger. Not by a long shot.

For the last five years, I hated them, but I’ve learned to trust them. And not just with my life, but with my heart as well. I don’t understand how I can be so drawn to each of them equally, but whenever we’re together I feel so…complete.

It’s a mystery.

As is why a rogue dragon from Romania wants to kill me. At first, I think he’s simply crazy. But, when I learn the truth about what he's done, it’s me who wants to kill him.

Bummer that he’s an all-powerful dragon and I’m just a measly human. But as my connection with my guys deepens, my dragon keeper powers grow. The question is, will they be enough to save myself and those I love?

About the author

Willa Hart

15 books93 followers
Just like everyone else in the world (except politicians and the entire Kardashian family), Willa Hart hates talking about herself. Seriously, what's she supposed to say? That she's the most talented author in the world? That Liam Hemsworth, Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan are knocking down her door for the honor of starring in the big-screen adaptation of her latest romance novel? That readers get into hair-pulling, kidney-punching, nipple-twisting brawls while standing in line to buy one of her books?

LIES!

Just like every other wordsmith in the world, she's certain everything she writes (including her own bio) sucks big, fat, hairy donkey danglers. But deep down she hopes and prays YOU are just a little bit delusional and think she IS a great writer, that Liam, Zac and Michael would be idiots to NOT want a part in her movie, and that you'd twist every perky nip you could get your fingers on just to LOOK at her new book. Of course, she's not holding her breath, but...can't a girl dream?

Didn't enjoy it as much as the first. Fast paced, sex and not much mystery or detective work. Max is awol and Favor is keeping the boys close. At this point its a harem and no one is questioning it. I didn't like her attitude with Lazlo, she came across as arrogant. Still I'll be continuing the series to see what happens next. Its a light easy read.

The Heat of the Dragon's Heart is less content rich than the first introductory book that surprisingly I had liked enough despite the faults. It's more stuck with the cliches of the genre.

It's been awhile since I read the first book but I was eager to pick up this to get more of the dragon keeper thing. Throughout the story, Favor's powers developing was a key feature and probably the only thing stopping the book from being a complete bore. I thought the PI position would offer more mystery solving cases just like the first one but it continues on this plot of where is Max and bad Russian dragons. I wouldn't mind it if this was taken more seriously then shallow level exploration that gives way for the cliched reckless heroine barging to face the bad guys scene that makes her look like a dumbass.

For the harem, this book was all about getting started with the boinking checklist. Honestly thought it was aiming to showcase sex scenes with all of the guys in this book itself. Sex aside, I don't find enough interactive scenes. The twins practically were there just for appearance sake, I guess they would get the limelight in the next ones but it just looks weird. The dudes don't have any character development to create more depth.

The expectations to see more from this dragon world remains unfulfilled. With plot elements being touched very briefly offering too little in terms of other dragon characters or the world building or the action scenes you would expect with dragons involved to carry on the interest from the first book.

Loved it.

Great dragon shifter RH so far. Favor is the MC and so far they think she is a dragon keeper but I have a feeling she is more. I think it is going to have something to do with the dragon heart and I am dying to know if I am correct. Also where the heck is Aunt Shirley. She is sneaking off somewhere. I still feel like all the guys are not developed enough with their personalities but I like the story too much to take away from it. Definitely excited to see what happens next.

The Heat of the Dragon's Heart picks up where TSOFDH leaves off. Favor and the guys are trying to figure out who all the bad guys are. What do they want, and what are they. Things are like a puzzle piece that they are trying to put together and it is coming along slowly. Where the first book things are on a slower romance pace, book two, picks that up a notch.

We get to see Favor expand on her relationship with each of the guys. Each one is different and they each compliment her for the better. And as a whole dynamic, they are growing closer, as well as working as a team. They communicate well, and make a great investigative team, especially with how witty they all are.

Book two is mostly the unit coming together to work and find out what is happening. We get some relationship next level, and we find out more about the bad guy. We have a twist or two thrown in to make a very well done second installment to this series. If you like Dragons and a great story, you will not go wrong with this one. I would highly recommend The Heat of the Dragon's Heart.

I seriously couldn’t put this book down! So many exciting things happening. Favor begins finding out more about her powers and getting closer with the guys in the meantime. These men are so different but so very hot and lovable. My heart broke for Favor when she realized who Titus was to her. I wanted to get revenge for her. Willa Hart has a way of immersing you in the worlds that she writes about and I felt as though I was part of the action. I can’t help but think that the guli has something to do with Favor and her past. I need to know more about her “keeper” abilities, if that’s even what she is. That ending was a killer in more than one way. While it ended super hot it was also very heartbreaking. I need the next book as soon as possible!

She yelled at an elder dragon, she’s acting like she can kill and battle with dragons except she’s human (for now because who knows) and when in presence of shifted dragons hides, her emotions are all over the place…. I just can’t like her. Add to it everyone’s doing things just because or instinct and I’m not into this anymore.

We get bedroom action at last!

4.5 stars

SPOILERS! Read at your own peril.

This second book in the Harem of Fire series may have been a little slow with the action compared to the first, but the mysteries kept me reading non-stop to the end. I loved Favor's sex scenes with Kellum (my fave 'til the moment) and Danic, they were magical and totally hot. However, the one with Ryen at the end felt so wrong. Not only was Favor destroyed emotionally, grieving and feeling guilty for the turn of events, but the scene was pure meaningless sex instead of lovemaking; making it totally unnecessary--which is the reason behind my minus 0.5 stars. The author should have chosen to show Favor's turmoil another way because it really destroyed what should have been a beautiful scene with Ryen. The poor guy didn't deserve to have Favor in tears during their first time together. With the exception of this ending, I enjoyed the rest of the novel and look forward to reading the rest. I just hope Favor let her heart heal before letting the twins into her bed.

Favor gets together with three of the five guys in Heat of the Dragon's Fire. She comes to realize that the dragon who killed her parents is not dead. Her friend Zoe is in danger more than once.
The combination of the five guys with Favor is powerful. They are able to protect her in a way unknown among dragons when threats are high.
I didn't like this one as well. Favor does some really stupid things thinking she is in the right. Toward the end I was to the point of yelling at her about how dumb her actions were in the face of dealing with evil dragons. I suppose it may have been necessary for the author's plot point but Favor had been pretty savvy prior to this. Then when she gets herself into trouble of her own free will she looks around for the guys to save her.

Heat of the Dragon was fabulous, with how real the characters reactions were, especially Zoey. Flavor starts bursting into abilities that she didn't know about. The world building was wonderful. It was easy to imagine that Dragons really did run and operate businesses, and handled threats as needed. Flavor finds herself falling for the guys. She also finds herself sensitive and emphatic towards dragons she doesn’t even know.

The story will make you want to read all the stories without stopping between. This is part of series that is best read in order.

This will be the second and last book in this series I will read. It's not that it was horrible, no, just juvenile, filled with clichés, with idiotic brainless heroine and 5 hunks i really didn't care about. The only character not completely flat is Favor and then it was only annoying and negative traits . I really couldn't care less about the story as I feel it will continue in the same style. I was bored out of my mind with this book and had to press myself to finish it. I am no masochist to put myself through this again.

Definitely don't recommend.

Why yes, I’ll take a side of hot dragons please!

Wow! Favor and her guys burn up these pages! Literally and figuratively. I love getting the glimpses of what’s going on in other places through her developing powers.

That brings up the question, what is she? Is she some kind of super dragon keeper or is she something else? Also, those baddies are multiplying and I’m curious to know what happens now. Must read!

Relationships develop super fast in this second book of the series!

Still lacking a main purpose of the plot, and the big bad seemed anticlimatic... hoping he turns out to be a minion and a new threat emerges.

Some NSFW scenes, but more plot based then sex based. Really routing for our girl, but she needs to focus and train and stop getting distracted lol.

Dragon war

Well crap hit the fan fast! The boys and Favor are in a battle against an enemy they can’t find until it’s too late! Favor’s powers continue to unfold incredibly quick and seem completely random.

Not as good as book1 but still enjoying it. Favor is developing quickly and while she seems to be turning into quite a powerful Keeper, she's also becoming a little annoying and arrogant. She just has to be right... until she's wrong.

Great book

Why Amazon insist on 20 words for a review via kindle, I don't know. Especially when I just want to say that I really enjoyed this book.
