Dark Elves #5

Discovery

Rate this book
To Kinig, the dark elves represented everything wonderful and mysterious in the world. If he could become the expert about the elves, his bardic career would be set. The elves were known for their dislike of human males, but times had changed and his request to live among the elves for a time was granted, and Kinig was given into the care of Fallil, a bard among the elves.

What began as friendship grew into love, and abiding passion. But Fallil knew he had to let Kinig go fulfill his dreams if the two were ever to be truly happy.

Kinig's knowledge of the dark elves brings him to the attention of a solitary mage who holds the last red elf in his thrall. The red elf, Nialdlye comes to care for Kinig and sees in his stories a possible solution for her own problems.

Can the two together break free of the mage's power and make their way back to Fallil?

OMG..I Didn't See That Coming!!! Just Wow!!

description

Jet Mykles just continues to Amaze me!!! The Ending was..Just...I'm Speechless!! What starts out as a love story between two males, Kinig & Fallil, evolved into an Amazing story!! We are introduced to the Red Elf, Niadyle, and her captor, Ale'tone.

The Evil Elf, Ale'tone
description

Ale'tone is pure evil. He kills humans and tortures them for the hell of it. He has kept Nialdyle as his personal slave for the past hundred years. Ale'tone kidnapped her as a child and has harnessed her powers, to keep her docile and weak. I hate him!! Needless to say he finally gets it in the end!!

Oh, and the ending!! Can I just say that I'm so happy...I could cry....if I were the type to do that! Lovers are reunited and given an unbelievable opportunity...
“I love you. I feel more for you than I have for anyone else in my life. A large part of me died when I let you go before, and I’m beginning to wonder if I’d outlive you.”

Gah, The ending to book was just unbelievably hot!!

description

Too Excited by the ending to put a coherent thought together! And I can't read the next book fast enough!!

Wow! I really liked this book a lot, although its actually a little different than the previous Dark Elves books.

This book starts out as a m/m erotic paranormal romance and then it ventures into more of an erotic paranormal suspense as opposed to paranormal erotica. We get to hear about many of the characters from previous books and we are introduced to some new characters that will play a part in the sixth (and final?) book.

The m/m love story really takes a turn when dark magic, murder, and captivity all come into play. There is plenty of m/f action in this book as well, so for those of you who aren't fans of m/m, there is something for everyone in this book.

There is a HEA in the end, although we are left hanging a little bit so that we can be ready for the sixth book...

Overall, I enjoyed this book. I wasn't quite as "hot" as the previous books (not to say that the sex wasnt hot, there just wasn't quite as much) however I still really enjoyed the story and I cant wait to read the next book!!

Dark Elves 5: Discovery was not as good as the others in this series. The race is dying out and the rhaeja decides to have a human bard, Kinig, live with them to write their story, so to speak. While living there, he falls in love with a man named Fallil. (I really enjoyed reading this part of the book and I wished there was more of it). However, they both know that he must leave to fulfill his dream of being a traveling bard and to spread the tales of the Dark Elves. The hope is that the telling will encourage human women to seek them out. Along the way, he encounters an evil sorcerer elf and a red female elf that has a similar sexual allure as the dark elves. Most of the story is about Kinig and the red elf, Nialdlye. I liked the story, but I was disappointed that this was the main focus. I understand that this was a crucial part of the plot, but wanted to read about the Dark Elves; that's why I love this series so much. There were a few unanswered questions that I hope will be resolved in the next book. 3.5 stars

My favorite element/part was reading about Dark Elf Fallil and his human male lover Kinig. Kinig wanting to write songs telling the world about the Dark Elves and him not being afraid of saying he was a lover of men.

I also liked the character Nialdlye. The red female elf created for sexual pleasure for her god, like the raedjour. The introduction of other elves and unknown practices were fresh and nice to read. The story has come a long way from Dark Elves Book 1 and it was just OK for me. There was nothing lost but not a favorite in the series.

I enjoyed the previous Dark Elves books, as silly as they are, enough to get more in the series, but I must say that Mykles has either lost the plot or never had one in the first place.

The world of the Dark Elves is our own, sometime in the past. This paranormal species of black-skinned fey called raedjour live underground and, having been created by a now-absent goddess, Rhae, to please her, are beings of sexual and sensual desire. With not enough children being born to them - and females being rarer - they've taken to abducting human women and mating them; their sorcerer can turn them into raedjour, enabling them to live the centuries-long lifespans alongside the men.

Discovery is about a young musician, Kinig, who is fascinated by the raedjour and eagerly goes to their cavernous home as part of a kind of cultural exchange. He falls in love with Fallil, but with no magic to change him into fey they see no hope for their relationship. After a few years, Kinig goes back to the human world, travelling around and sharing tales and ballads about the raedjour until he is captured by another fey creature, a cruel, ambitious elf called Ale'tone. Kinig is locked up with another of Ale'tone's prisoners, Nialdlye, a red-skinned fey being. They form a bond and together look for a way to escape Ale'tone.

The vagueness of the setting and the period don't help with this series - it was easily overlooked in the previous stories but this one takes the fae would into the human one, so some concrete time period or place would have been good for getting my footing. It wouldn't have helped that much, though: I didn't care for the characters, the plot was loose and not very interesting, and the "love scenes" were dull and poorly written. It just became far too easy to laugh at the whole setup.

Hasta el momento es el mejor libro jajaja creo que la historia se desarrollo de manera más natural y rápida que las anteriores... además de la historia de Fallil y Kinig

This was a very, very different book than the four prior in the series. This installation introduced many more characters and re-introduced a few thought to be lost forever. Discovery was just that, literally. A discovery of the Dark Elves' history, their magic, their culture and their place in the world.

We are first introduced to Kirig, a bard, who requests to be allowed to come and stay with the raedjour to learn about them so that he can then return to the human world and tell the truth about them. Savous, the king, allows it and Kirig is brought to the raedjour city and Fallin becomes his sponsor. Fallin is a bard, an actor, a dancer and he and Kirig both are lovers of men. Kirig and Fallin fall in live but after 2 years there it is time for Kirig to return to the human world. For you see, the raedjour as a people are dying. Because they are no longer abducting human women their birth rates have fallen drastically. Savous hopes that Kirig's stories will help to convince women to come and be changed to raedjour, find their truemate and help save their people.

So Kirig leaves and nine years later Ale'tone, a sorcerer of a different extinct elf line kidnaps him to learn about the raedjour. With this sorcerer is Nialdlye, the last of her line created also by a fertility god, much like the raedjour. In order not to give out any spoilers, I can not tell you all that occurs.

I can tell you there is an HEA ending and the promise of something exciting in the next book.

I really enjoyed this book, the third in the series although if you have an aversion to m/m scenes, then it may not be your ideal. I read from cover to cover very quickly drawn to the characters and the story line, I found myself turning pages wanting to know the outcome, then strangely disappointed that I had not taken my time having enjoyed it so much. Definitely my favourite in the series to date.

I thought this book was very good. I love that she introduced new characters. They are very interesting. That being said, I'm a little dissapointed with the lack of answers to some of my questions. I guess that will come in the next book. It's a lot like watching a really good t.v. series and the season finale leaves you hanging till next season. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Again, not the best in the series. I liked fallil and kenig, did not like the girl. She was ok i guess, but absolutely nothing special. I felt no connection with her. Aletnoe i found interresting. An old vcharacter comes back into play in this story, for which i am glad. Hoping for more in the next one.

Really 3.5 stars. I really liked the M/M characters, but I really just ended up feeling really sorry for the girl elf the whole time, and her name was terrible to read. The author does an amazing job of the HEA for the main characters, but, leaves just enough loose ends to make me really want to know what's going to happen to the secondary characters.

I thought that this series was unique, but this story compounds that and takes it to another level altogether! Amazing writing, character development and story progression. Love it from start to finish! Thanks Jet!

This book was probably the most action packed of the dark elves series. I loved every minute of it.
