Lilla Spöket Laban
Little Spook's Baby Sister

What do you do if your child is scared of something? Write and illustrate a book that helps dissipate all fear around the subject is what! Well, that's what happened with Swedish parents Inger and Lasse Sandbeg. A conversation with their son on his fear of ghosts led the husband and wife team to create a series of stories about Little Spook and his family.
In this installment (the books are small and perfect for a young child's hand), Little Spook invites the Prince to investigate some strange noises in the castle. It turns out that all the wailing and screaming belongs to Little Spook's baby sister who is very good at mimicking the noises she hears. From this point on, spreads are split with the little sister making a wonderful variety of noises which are displayed on the recto. These are sweet little stories that would even work now. Would love to see them reprinted.

1001 Children's Books list
Age group: 0-3
Their list: 18/1001
My list: 34/1001
Why they say you should read it? Great for reading to children who are scared of ghosts. Turning it funny and cute.
I admit. I'm sort of cheating for the first time. I did listen to this story, in Swedish. I can't speak Swedish, but I know the story is about a ghost and little prince investigating the noise coming from the cellar that turns out to be his baby sister that, "makes more noise than all of us put together." It's been 8 years since i started this journey with my kids and I'm calling it. I've looked for this book... Relentlessly at times. In the mean time, I have a Swedish video of this book if anyone feels like translating.
My kids thoughts? I mean... It's in Swedish.

Little Spook and the little Prince were playing together when they heard a terrible noise. They went to find Little Spook's parents who revealed that the noise came from Little Spook's brand-new baby sister. And that sister can make some noises!

This is an absolutely darling children’s book; put it first on your stack of bedtime books because it very much encourages participation; but it just can’t compare to the original, for emotional moments and cuteness factor.
