27 Ways to Mend His Broken Heart

Rate this book
Heal him so you can steal him.

Kaylee:
Before I begin, I need to be clear about one thing: Kyle was mine first. My best friend since fourth grade. My shoulder to cry on. My everything. And then during our senior year of high school, Ava waltzed into the picture and won his heart.

Kyle:
I asked Ava to marry me. (Spoiler—she said no.)

How do you move on after five years? If it weren’t for Kaylee, I don’t know what I’d do. I know she was only trying to cheer me up when she concocted the idea of the list, but why not give it a try? Ava has certainly moved on.

Kaylee:
I’ve never seen Kyle so destroyed. The list was supposed to be a joke, something to make him smile. Then I realized what it really is—an opportunity. By the time I’m finished with him, Kyle will be over Ava, and he’ll be head-over-heels for yours truly.

Kyle:
I trust Kaylee, and if she thinks the list will help, then I’m all in. She’s not like other girls—she doesn't plot and scheme, or have ulterior motives. What you see is what you get. A guy couldn’t ask for a better best friend…

Author’s note: 27 Ways to Mend His Broken Heart is a steamy-clean adult romantic comedy with all the sizzle but no sex.

I was a big fan of the first book, 27 Ways to Find a Boyfriend, and really looked forward to reading this one. I admit, the Friends-to-Lovers can really be hit or miss for me. It's not a favorite premise for me, but I ended up really enjoying it in this one. So much so, I couldn't put it down and while reading I kept thinking about different friends I wanted to recommend it to. I love a book like that.

Kaylee and Kyle have been friends forever, but Kyle has been in a long-term relationship so Kaylee had to sit by and keep her unrequited love to herself. When he gets dumped by his long-term girlfriend, Kaylee is overjoyed! Now's her chance, but she has to be subtle and try and get him to look at her in a new light. I liked how things played out, thought it was believable. I liked a lot of the supporting cast and I'm hoping they get their own stories (Savannah, Heath, especially Isaac - loved him, and even Ava.)

This was a sweet, funny and at times very swoony read. Definitely a series I would recommend to any Contemporary Romance fan.

You guys! Can someone please tell me why in the world I waited so long to read this book?! Please?! Anyone?!

*dreamy sigh*

I loved this book! Once I started it, I had the hardest time putting it down! Does that sound familiar? It should because the same thing happened when I read 27 Ways to Find a Boyfriend. I found myself sneaking in reading whenever I could. I may or may not have been reading while walking mail to the mailbox at work today. Okay... who I am kidding?! I totally did that! And I regret nothing! ;) Hehe.

But I digress...

Kaylee and Kyle were perfect for each other! I absolutely adored them! I'm a sucker for best friends to lovers trope and this one did not disappoint! I still wanted to Gibbs slap Kyle several times throughout the book though. That man drove me crazy! Haha. But once he finally opened his eyes and figured out what he wanted... watch out! *swoon* Their chemistry was off the charts! I could not get enough of Kaylee and Kyle!

Just like in the first book, I really enjoyed the side characters. Isaac was a great addition and I'm looking forward to reading his book next. I'm secretly hoping that Heath and Savannah get a book. There's definitely a story there. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and putting it out in the universe. It could happen, right?! ;)

Ms. Tapscott is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I seriously need to read more of her books! I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

And y'all know that no review of mine is complete without the casting. I happen to love these two! What do you guys think?!

Epilogue: I want to read it again!!

Curious? Read the book! It was fabulous! I recommend it very enthusiastically!

I really enjoyed this story. These books have the power to suck me in and keep my attention. I don't know what it is about them! They are just written like I like. They have good movement and lots of interaction. The first book was so good and there are similarities in this but different enough that I loved it. The kisses were well done and came at just the right time. This is chaste with no religion.

This is perfection!

This delightfully charming story reads like a romantic comedy and I could vividly picture every single page as though they were on the big screen in my imagination, and I was completely and fantastically hooked.

Kyle and Kaylee are best friends and she will do anything to help him move past heartache and right into her willing and waiting arms--and all through a list on a napkin. Let's just say that the road to true love can be paved with rocky bumps that mimic a torturous mountain bike trail in Sedona, Arizona, but the end result is oh-so-worth-it.

These characters are easy to invest in and relate to, which caused me to devour this book as fast as a warm chocolate chip cookie (my favorite). The twists and turns, along with the steamy clean tension, allowed for a perfectly satisfying read and let me just say that I am eagerly awaiting more!

Kyle and Kaylee have been best friends forever. Kaylee has always liked Kyle a little more, but he had no clue. And then the beginning of Senior year of high school, Ava moved in and for the next 5 years Kaylee played the part of best friend while Ava was Kyle's girlfriend. Until Ava dumps Kyle in a really humiliating way. Of course, best friend Kaylee is there to pick up the pieces...

Absolutely delightful, fresh play on a classic trope

Initially this starts out like the standard friends-to-lovers trope - with one pining and the other clueless - so you think you know what you're going to read.

Then the author throws in an unexpected twist which most of us have probably wished something like it would happen, but then she throws in another twist & things get more complicated & then more complicated again.

I kept thinking I had figured out what was going to happen next, but it rarely followed the direction I was anticipating. Turns out almost the only predictable things in the plot are the beginning & the end.

It was a story that I wasn't expecting but with all the fun & swoony happiness that Shari Tapscott does so very well!

All the Hearts!

All the hearts and all the feels for this book!! All. The. Hearts. I loved it. I read through this one quickly, more devouring than savoring but I just couldn't help myself. This book is exactly why contemporary sweet romance is my favorite. I want to go back and read it again right now. 💙

Super cute piece of chick lit. Kaylee has been Kyle’s best friend forever, but for the last 5 years, she’s had to watch him date and get closer to another girl who moves in senior year of high school. The night Kyle proposes promises to be the worst night of her life. Until it isn’t. This is a cute friends to lovers story that takes your heart on a fun roller-coaster ride as Kyle tries to figure out his heart…and Kaylee tries to ignore hers. This was the 2nd in the 27 Ways series. I really like this author so far. 😊

27 ways to win Kyles heart ❤️

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2020...

There may be a few spoilers but more likely fewer spoilers...

Okay. I want to start off saying that I enjoyed this book, but thought that Kaylee could've told Kyle how she felt about him way back in high school even before Ava popped up or after. Also, it was funny Ava thought that she had it made and though that Chad was a good guy more so better than Kyle. When reality, she left Kyle for a man who beats on women, how wack is that. When Ava came back, she thought she might have something again. But Kaylee was the one who Kyle wanted after her brother Heath spilled the beans about how she liked him forever and loved it him.

I was glad in the end; that Kyle stopped playing games with Kaylee's feelings and did something about it. But he did something right after he saw her with that guy "Issac" she meet from speed dating!

In the end, at least this time, the girl he was in love with finally did say "Yes" when he proposed. Unlike Ava did.... which led to embarrassment. But I doubt anyone of his friends, family, or co-workers cared for Ava that much as they did for Kaylee...

I feel that back in the day there were so many good romantic comedies like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Sweet Home Alabama, 27 Dresses, etc. However, now they really don’t make cute movies anymore which is why I love this author’s books, because they would make the perfect romantic comedies.

Right from the start you can’t help but loving Kaylee and identifying with her. She’s been in love with her best friend, Kyle, since childhood, and is about to watch him propose to his girlfriend. However, the girlfriend turns him down so Kaylee takes it upon herself to cheer him up and hopefully make him fall in love with her.

This story has cute and funny moments, some swoon worthy scenes, as well as some sad and hard parts. You basically feel all the feels.

This is the second book in a series but it can be read as a stand alone, too. A few characters from the previous book make some cameos but if you haven’t read 27 Ways to Find a Boyfriend, yet, you won’t feel lost.

Anyway, another great book by one of my favorite authors!

I liked the story well enough, but I don’t feel like I really gelled with the characters all that much. Firstly (and I know this is nit picky), I didn’t like that the two mains had really similar names. Kyle and Kaylee were too much alike for me. Beyond that, I just didn’t particularly like either one of them. Kyle was too wishywashy, and his sudden “revelation” that he’s been in love with Kaylee for years (while in a relationship with another woman) felt disingenuous. Either way he wasn’t being true to one of them. I couldn’t really relate to Kaylee, especially when she planned to keep silent while Kyle proposed to another woman. Yeah I get it, you’re worried it would damage your friendship, but come on. There’s no way you could keep being the same kind of friends after he was married. It just doesn’t work like that, especially when one “friend” is in love with the other.

I love this author, and I especially love her adventure fantasy novels, but this particular contemporary didn’t do much for me.

I’ve had this book on my TBR pile for awhile and just now finished reading it. Now I’m wondering why I didn’t read it when I first downloaded it. It was a fantastic read. From start to finish I couldn’t stop reading it. I couldn’t help but admire Kaylee for her fortitude while watching her best friend (the man she was in love with) crash and burn after his public proposal to another woman who shot him down. This novella was very well written. I loved the banter between the H and h. I found it heart wrenching at times to read about Kaylee’s unrequited love. Also just as heart wrenching was Kyle’s heartbreak, although at times I wanted to shake my Kindle and yell at him to WAKE UP! I’m glad he finally did. This was a swoon worthy romance and happy ending. I would highly recommended reading this for all lovers of contemporary romance.

I'm all smiley here :)

Content: Clean: kisses, no sex. No written profanity "ie- She's a bit... Bit crazy". I'd be fine giving it to a preteen/teen (or as adult in my case giving it to my mother/mother in law, because it's good!).

Overall, this book is comparable to Mrs.Tapscott's Sugar & Spice book, or Just the Essentials. And I LOVED it. I seriously laughed loudly and more then once. And I liked the subtle nods to the 1st book in the series (this book is based off different characters then the 27 ways to get a boyfriend book but paths cross)- still, you could read the 2nd book before the 1st without it being a plot crisis.

I am all smiley happy after this book. I'll probably read it again in the future.

Such a good clean romance!

This was another fantastic book in the “27 ways series”. I adored the first book and this one was a unique and cute sequel. You don’t have to read the books in order either, although you can see snippets of returning characters in his second book.

Kaylee and Kyle had such a sweet romance. I loved the storyline of friends to something more. The author did such a good job of voicing each of the characters- each chapter let’s you know if you’re reading a first person perspective from Kaylee or Kyle, which I loved. Seeing what each of them thinks made this story come alive.

And goodness there were so many toe-curling moments! The romance was great without getting dirty. Can’t wait for more by this author!!

I really enjoy clean contemporary romance. I loved that this book was clean while still providing a good romance. I love all the emotion the author was able to create for us as the readers with Kaylee and Kyle's romance. To me that speaks way louder than a steamy sex scene. I wasn't sure at first how she was going to bridge the gap between friendship and romance with the way the book started but she managed to do it well and believably. This is book was all the things I love in a contemporary romance.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. But really, I read all of Shari Tapscott's books anyway, because they are awesome.

Dr. Cameron's little sister!

And Gio! And Isaac! And Carter! And an honorable mention of Addison! And Kentford!

First, clearly, I LOVED all the crossovers!!! (Gio and Heath need their own HEA! Isaac too.)

Kaylee and Kyle were so adorable. It was fun to watch how Kyle went from reeling over a break-up to head over heels for his best friend. (I do wonder what happened with Ava though...)
And it made perfect sense that Kaylee was still a bit hesitant at the beginning of their romance. Hopefully the floral conference fixed that up quick!

Such a fun read! I loved it. Looking forward to more.

Delightful

This was a truly delightful story with plenty of fun dialogue. I love a good rom/com, and this proved to be one, with plenty of unexpected curves thrown in to appear to frustrate the inevitable happy ending.

Ms. Tapscott has once again successfully related a totally believable story with likable, relatable characters. I could fully understand Kaylee just wanting to be done with Kyle's mixed signals, and nearly cheered for his ultimate breakthrough experience, although I could also fully understand what Kyle was going through, and feel for him.

27 Ways to Mend... is a fun, heart-warming read, and I highly recommend it.

"Are they good?"
"No," she mumbles, shoving the rest of the cookie in her mouth. "Give me the rest. I'll eat them so you don't have to."

Loved the characters' friendship and eventual romance.

It's not that I don't trust Daniel. It's just that I don't trust Daniel.

This was pretty funny, too.

"And how is Ava?" I ask, just in case he needs to talk about it.
Kyle sighs. "She seems fine."
"Good." I take a bite of the breadstick, unsure what else to say. "I'd hate to hear she fell down a well or something."

Fantastic!

Ms. Tapscott knows how to write a good romance. This one was fantastic. The characters were amazing—I loved how they changed , stretched, and grew. I loved how the plot twisted and flipped making me abandon my previous planned schedule for turning, reading and finishing the pages of this remarkable romance. Yes, it was light and witty but woven within the refreshingly-fun conversations was truly a substantial story line.
Best friends to best romance done in a believable but darling way. This book jumped to the top of my list for this genre. Fantastic!

Wonderful story

As always Tapscott delivers a story with characters that become like friends. I’m a huge fan of this author and always purchase her books as soon as they come out (if I don’t preorder it) and I’m never disappointed. Her characters are lovable and engaging. The story flows and was hard for me to put down. I’m sure this will become another of her books that I read over and over.

Just loved this story!

This author just keeps getting better and better. Such fun characters that are real and gritty. I just loved the chemistry between them. I think that’s what makes all these stories great. The author really knows how to pull them together and hold on to the tension. Flirty and clean!

Cute, clean, and fun

I really enjoyed this book. There was a bit of a plot hole at the end with the ex-girlfriend that the main character was with for 5 years....that part of the story didn't really have closure. Maybe that was intentional for a next book but I found it a tiny bit irritating.

Charming

She's Princess Charming rescuing him from the dragon. Ok so it's not really as dramatic as all that but my goodness what a charmingly fun story. Without giving anything away (I hope) There were times a certain someone needed a good talking to! That is my favorite type of book, when I feel the need to talk to the characters. A well made read!
