Provides an overview of life in northern Europe from 1500 to 1675.
Drawing on art, artifacts, and literature that was left behind, these richly illustrated volumes recount captivating tales of everyday life in long-ago vanished worlds.
An excellent historical overview of a troubled time, typically well presented by Time-Life Books. I read this as reference for a book I am writing, and it was very helpful. All social classes are covered, in the multi-state environment that was Europe in those years, while the Dutch, French, Spanish and English fought for dominance and sought to develop their trade routes at the expense of the other powers. At the same time, of course, Protestantism was vying with Catholicism for the hearts and minds of men.
Take a step back in time and open the pages of this book, which shows us what life was like in Europe's Golden Age, spanning 1500 to 1675 AD. This is a beautiful hardcover book brimming with full-colour photos and description of what life was like for the rich and poor during the birth of reformation and the battle for freedoms and rights.
