She signed away her freedom

Starved for affection, young Piper Delaney surrenders her life to a Master. But there is no love—only abuse. She’s told she can’t leave; she signed the slave contract. Years later, beaten and starving, she hears an English Dom say the contract’s illegal. Unenforceable. And she runs.

She reclaims her life and rises above the nightmare that was her past.

But her enslavement left scars. She longs for love, but the only men who truly attract her also terrify her--Dominants. Hoping to conquer her fears, she visits Dark Haven, but the sounds of the club are too much.

When a submissive panics, Sir Ethan steps in.

The powerful English Dom recognizes the shivering submissive in his lap. Years before, he’d corrected her Master’s deceit about a contract. She’s come a long way since then. Cynical at being pursued for his wealth, he finds Piper’s honesty compelling. She’s intelligent, brave…and she needs him. What Dom could resist?

He’s the Dom she’d dreamed about—perceptive, firm, and utterly self-confident.

His voice pulls her from panic attacks. His arms enclose her in safety. He treats her like a person, not something to mistreat. As he helps Piper overcome her fears, she starts to fall in love.

Then her past finds her and destroys…everything.

A New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, she’s renowned for writing heart-wrenching romances with laugh-out-loud dialogue, alpha males, and absolutely sizzling sex.

I met my dearheart when vacationing in the Caribbean. Now I won’t say it was love at first sight. Actually since he stood over me, enjoying the view down my swimsuit top, I might have been a tad peeved—as well as attracted. But although we were together less than two days and lived on opposite sides of the country, love can’t be corralled by time or space.

We’ve now been married for many, many years. (And he still looks down my swimsuit tops.)

Nowadays, I live in the west with this obnoxious, beloved husband and a seventy-pound lap-puppy. I’m a gardener, and I love nurturing small plants until they’re big and healthy and productive…and ripping defenseless weeds out by the roots when I’m angry. I enjoy thunderstorms, collecting eggs from the chickens, and visiting the local brewery for the darkest, maltiest beer on tap. My favorite way to spend an evening is curled up on a couch next to the master of my heart, watching the fire, reading, and…well…if you’re reading my books, you obviously know what else happens in front of fires.

As he straightened, she stared at him…and felt barriers dropping. Leaving her open. Defenseless. Oh, she was in so much trouble.

No one can write an emotional powerhouse of a BDSM romance quite like Cherise Sinclair. When it comes to her books, I don't even bother reading the blurb. I HAVE to have them. Period. This woman has written some of my favorite Doms I've ever written. Though, deVries forever holds my heart in the number one spot. *Happy sigh*

I Will Not Beg finally brings us the story of Sir Ethan, and boy was it an emotional doozy. Sinclair sure knows how to write some damaged characters. But she also knows how to make them powerful in their own right. And that's exactly what she did with Piper. This is a heroine that's desperate for love, but is terrified of seeking it out in a place she needs most.

After being brutalized in what she thought was a D/s relationship, Piper is still recovering. She's terrified of Doms because the only reference she has is the cruel sadist that broke her. She's trying to move on as much as she can, but the emotional scars of her past are almost as painfully obvious as her physical ones.

Sir Ethan is everything that Piper needs and everything that she's terrified of. He's patient, understanding, sweet, and undeniably Dominant. At first their contract is strictly for her healing, but it doesn't take Piper long to discover just how much she's still capable of love in the hands of the right man. And just how right, Sir Ethan's hands can be.

This was an emotionally charged, character driven story. You spend a lot of time in the heads of Ethan and Piper. Both of them are damaged in their own right, though one more than the other. The amount of healing that they bring to each other is almost beautiful to experience. You see how they pick each other piece by piece by giving the other what they need; Piper's trust and submission and Ethan's patience and sensuality.

You experience Piper's emotional healing journey, and watch her go from a victim to a survivor with a spine of steel. I loved that she grew into a woman that really learned to save herself. And I especially loved how Ethan was with her. The man is undoubtably dominant, yet he's so incredibly sweet. He has an intensity to him, but there's also this kind heart and never ending patience. I loved this combination.

There's plenty of cameos from my favorite characters (*cough* deVries *cough*). I especially loved getting more of Dixon and Stan and getting a peek into their heads even if it was only for a little bit.

As always, Sinclair delivered an emotionally charged and sizzling BDSM romance that was satisfying from beginning to end.

I reread this book recently, and still enjoyed it, Sir Ethan is a great gentle Dom, but I’m kind of over every single submissive in this series being abused and broken and in need of healing by an all knowing indestructible Dom. D/s relationships are not therapy and I’m over this same tired storyline from this author. Give me a submissive who isn’t completely broken down by life or on the run from some stalker. Find another way to bring conflict to a story and show me a strong, together woman who submits to a Dom, not in exchange for therapy or protection, but because she enjoys letting go and loves kinky sex. I’m just so tired of the same old same old from this author. Yawn.

To clarify, I rated this a 4 star on my first read a few years ago, and I have a rule against changing my ratings. I liked this a lot when I first read it, still liked it after this listen on Scrib’d but I have read many more from this author since I read this one and they are all the freaking same.

It's been too long since I've read one of the Dark Haven books but I'm really glad I got back to this series with Sir Ethan's book. I loved this bossy Englishman and his sweet, skittish, submissive. Piper was the star of this book for me and I really admired her determination to lose the fear she still carried with her from her past. It made for some very interesting and evens angsty moments that I loved reading. And of course there was the usual Cherise Sinclair heat in the story that I enjoyed a lot. Bottom line, it's a must read.

Is it possible to have a BDSM comfort read? You know
description

Because I think Ms. Sinclair’s latest is the definition of that for me. There are few authors that have remained an auto-read for me, but year after year, Ms. Sinclair reminds me why I love the worlds she creates. I really enjoyed this trip back to Dark Haven, Ms. Sinclair’s long running series of Doms and their submissives living their best lives in San Francisco, a ‘verse that continues to expand and let me tell you, I’m always ready to visit.

Piper Delaney was horribly abused when she entered into a Master/slave contract with a huge wanker when she was young and naive. She had no idea how a relationship should work, much less that the cruelties that jackwagon inflicted on her aren't the norm. When the story begins you are immediately placed into that headspace with her and it's jarring but she managed to escape and rebuild her life, even if she had a few (or shedload) physical and mental scars to show for it. She’s a successful business owner who provides a range of services for her clients to make their lives easier. Enter Sir Ethan Worthington, a Dom at Dark Haven who has his own past demons and trust issues. When they meet through a mutual friend, neither were looking for love, but yep, you guessed it -some kinky romance happens.

Piper is much stronger than you would think, having survived what she did (the prologue deals with her escape, so you get a sense of the horrible situation she’s in but the bulk of the abuse happens offpage). As a result, I wasn’t sure how she’d be able to go back into the lifestyle, but I loved the way Ethan protects her and helps her figure out her triggers and begin the process of working through her trust issues. I also enjoyed that the focus isn’t about Ethan just “fixing” her, and that her trauma doesn’t just magically go away. I loved their Firsts (meet/kiss/love scene) and their chemistry helps to anchor this tale of healing through the scars of the past. Ethan is commanding Dom who has a gift for Shibari, but he’s not a sadist and truly the perfect match for Piper. Ms. Sinclair always writes the type of sane, safe and consensual BDSM that focuses more on a balance of love and kink that melts my butter.

As the cherry on top, Ms. Sinclair the BDSM scenes at DH made me want to check out the music she references. I always enjoy seeing the cast of characters from past Dark Haven books living their HEAs and helping the next couple find theirs. If you like kink in your romance but have always shied away from the darker edge of BDSM, you may enjoy this as much as I do. I would recommend it and I’m looking forward to the next one.

Miss Sinclair usually writes a red hot steamy BDSM story. Her works does not have much plot but straight to dirty things. So i was so excited to begin my journey again in I Will Not Beg.

Imagine my surprise that i do not like this book that much. I think the story is too weak and too much of the BDSM. I can not really feel the characters develop together. I do like Ethan. He is steady and enigmatic hero. His patience with Pipper is so tender that i almost can not believe he is actually a Dom.

While with Pipper,i lost. I can not really connect with her. Her transformation from victim to survivior is too fast and too confusing.

Overall i still do enjoy this book OK. The BDSM helps to keep my interest finishing the book.

When Cherise has a new story coming,i always jump with joy,one-click to pre-order,and count down the days until it lands in my library.

And there it was.....the latest beauty,I Will Not Beg. And what a beauty it was!

Piper is a tough cookie with a very, very sweet core. Having survived an abusive “Master”,she built a new life for herself, and even started her own business,Chatelaines, catering to people’s needs. Avoiding the kind of men that are Dominant, she tries dating,but....resigns herself to being alone. Until a party her gay friends Stan and Dixon give. There she meets the man who gave her the push to flee to freedom. Her savior,Sir Ethan. But.....he is a Dominant. A caring one,but still....

Ethan is intrigued by this sweet girl with a big heart, and after discovering who she is,he encourages her to let him help. Find the triggers she still suffers from, the hidden scars, and help her deal with them. As he gets to know her more, his feelings for her start to grow. But he has his own scars.....Can he get past those?

And what will happen when Piper’s past returns with a vengeance?

I loved Piper só much! In spite of her traumatising past, she is still strong enough to face her fears and care about those around her. And Sir Ethan,he is the perfect man for her! Strong, caring, gentle but firm. I adore him!

YOU NEED TO READ THEIR STORY!
Trust me,you’ll love them both as much as i did!

When I finish a Cherise Sinclair book, I want to turn around and read it all over again-and I Will Not Beg is no exception. Once again the author has created a world where you want to step in and hug the characters, and develop a friendship with them.

Piper Delaney challenges any of Cherise’s heroines, with her bravery, willingness to help others, and ability to stand tall in the face of adversity. Sir Ethan Worthington is a caring, compassionate man, who, like Henry Higgins, falls in love with his own creation. Even better is the fact that he’s not perfect-his own past trips him up the same way Piper’s past does her. But he admits the fault is his and does his best to correct the damage he’s done.

We also have the chance to revisit the characters from the Dark Haven series: My Liege and Abbie, Dixon and Stan, Lindsay and Zander, and Simon and Rona all play a part in the tale. Submissive Piper had been held as a slave by a vicious sadist masquerading as a Dom. It was Ethan who said in her hearing that her contract was not enforceable-and gave her the incentive to run.

Now, years later, when they meet, Piper has established her own business. She loves dealing with people-but is terrified of Doms. She and Ethan don’t recognize each other immediately, but can’t deny the attraction between them. Can Ethan coax this wary woman into trust and prove to her that her submission can be a gift? And can he keep her safe when her past shows up to destroy her?

This is one of the author’s best. It is heart-wrenching, emotional, and weaves the reader into its spell as firmly as Sir Ethan’s ropes wrap up a little subbie. Well Done!

I've been waiting for Sir Ethan's story for way too long. And I'm glad to say it was worth the wait. Ethan was kind of always around but fading into the background after he plays his role. We were fed tids and bits over the last few books of the series and it only fed my curiosity. I wanted to unravel the mysterious English Dom and see what kind of man he is. The very first time he showed on page in 'I Will Not Beg' Ethan proved that he's a man of honor and compassion. Someone who doesn't turn a blind eye when he sees someone being abused and mistreated. And after learning more about him and what he's been through I was really glad that he got his happily ever after. He definitely deserves it.

Piper is a great addition to the cast of Dark Haven's subbies. She fits in with her bravery, strength and quick wit. The abuse she's suffered at the hands of her 'Master' and the neglect and mistreatment of her family easily could have broken her beyond repair. But she fought hard to regain her feeling of self-worth and to build a life filled with goodness and joy. I don't know if I would ever have the type of courage this demands but I hope that I can show a tenth of her resiliency. Facing her abuser at the end of the book was truly cathartic after the whole build up. What I'm sorry for is that DeVries didn't get to 'play' with the POS a bit *evil grin*. All in all this was a solid addition to the series. I wonder who'll get his own book next and can't wait to find out!

Great characters, interesting story and well written

We love Cherise’s books and this story is no exception. With I Will Not Beg she delivers another home run.She creates strong characters that appeal to us and her storylines are always interesting.
Although it works as a standalone, it’s part of the Dark Haven/Mountain Masters series and we were thrilled about the return of many of the characters from previous installments. It’s also fun that she keeps up with details like Abby and Xavier’s dog Blackie. It was good to get an update on him since Abby’s care of him and his siblings played a big part in Xavier’s love for her.

Cherise’s writing style is nearly flawless, flowing and engaging. It’s hard to put the book down once we’ve started reading it. (It can also be a great incentive if you’re on a deadline and your co-author forbids you to read it until you’re done 😉)

With Piper, Cherise has created yet another memorable heroine. Piper was seduced into a slave contract by an abusive Master when she was first in the lifestyle. It was only when she heard Sir Ethan say the contract wasn’t legally enforceable that she got up the courage to run away. Now in San Francisco, she has built a successful business and life is good except for the boyfriend department. When she meets Sir Ethan, she doesn’t know whether to run or kneel at his feet. She’s afraid because he’s a Dom, but strongly attracted nonetheless.

Although we loved Piper and Sir Ethan our absolute favorites were Dixon and Stan from Edge of the Enforcer and how they overcame their struggle. When a book character invites the reader to give him a big hug, you know the author created something special. Dix deserved several cuddles in this book! Despite the strong side story, there’s enough time and space for Sir Ethan and Piper to figure out their feelings and their past to reach a HEA without it getting rushed or forced.

Full disclosure: I have very mixed feelings about Cherise Sinclair's works (I realize I'm in the minority); this review addresses all of them.

On the one hand, her writing is decent (her dialogue, in particular, simulates real life and, thus, is not stilted as it often is in this genre); her plots are detailed and complete; and her characterizations are strong, with clear motivations and comprehensive backstories. Because of this, I do find myself invested in her characters; so, while the erotic scenes are well-described and, at times, inventive (the "water gun" scene in this book, for example), a full-fledged story underpins all of them. In addition, her books feature (by and large) consent: it's always clear that her men and women enjoy mutually satisfying kinks. The women are (by and large) strong and do not lose their identity when they submit; it's also always clear that submission is their choice. And she does make an effort to depict non-heteronormative relationships in a genre that does this far too rarely.

Now for the other hand. I get that these books are fantasies and not meant to be primers on how to conduct healthy BDSM and/or dd relationships (I really appreciate Ms. Sinclair's disclaimer saying as such; I wish more authors did this as that might cut down on the many reviews that breathlessly praise how conscientiously these books represent BDSM/dd practices when, by and large, they do not; see, for example, Accepting Annie). But, if you're going to devote several lines to how safe, sane, and consensual your fictional club is and how admirable your fictional doms are, you better back it up with actions; otherwise, these words just ring hollow. In Club Shadowlands, for instance, the supposedly ultra-experienced dom subjects a woman who has never engaged in any BDSM practice in her life to a public punishment delivered by multiple people mere hours after he meets her. It's impossible to imagine any responsible dom doing this under any circumstances; thus, I never had any respect for him again (since he's in all the books in her first series, this is a problem). There are times when the doms are really just bullies in these books and far too many of the female characters are damaged. In addition, some of their backstories veer so far into melodrama that they're laughable (in this book, for example, ).

With that said, here's what I liked and disliked about this book.

Likes:

1) While Ethan does help Piper manage her panic attacks, he -- and BDSM -- are not presented as cure-alls for her PTSD. Nor does he solve all the problems in her life. It is she (with the help of other women) who gets her life back together and she who . I like Piper's strength and independence; she grows in this book and while some of it is Ethan's doing, a lot of it is due to her.

2) Ethan is (by and large) a fantastic dom/romantic partner, who puts Piper's needs first, really cares about and respects her, is (usually) self-controlled, and really is an honorable man (I particularly like that he gets her consent before touching her or invading her space in any way). The one time he loses his self-control is motivated; he apologizes; and Piper and the reader do forgive him (see below for what I mean by "by and large").

3) I liked the communal feel of these books.

4) While I know some readers didn't, I did like Sam and Dix's relationship in that the conflicts between them were more believable than the over-the-top problems other characters experienced. Sometimes, it's nice to read about something that is rooted in real life and not say, about the dom who is 6'4", wealthy, and a special ops agent.

Dislikes:

1) While Ethan is careful to get Piper's consent in most things, there is one scene where he punishes her without negotiating a dd relationship with her first (he does discuss it with her, but after the fact). This really bothered me and was completely out-of-character for him.

2) I hated how so many characters (including Piper) were so reluctant to intervene in abusive Master/Slave relationships. This recalls the many people (including the police) who refused to intervene in domestic violence cases, calling them private disputes between married couples (https://scholarship.law.marquette.edu...). Uh, no. Legally, even if a "slave" has consented, consent will not protect a "master" from the law (this, by the way, can be true in any BDSM/dd relationship; I strongly suggest that people look up the legal cases where consent has been put to the test before trying any of this at home). While I do appreciate that Ms. Sinclair dealt with this topic and critiqued it, far too many people in the lifestyle were willing to protect it (even if that was her ultimate point).

3) Some plot points were left unresolved, particularly Jerry ().

I recommend this book, however, as my "likes" outweighed my "dislikes" and I appreciate the writing and Ms. Sinclair's ability to tackle a difficult subject.

Powerful story of a woman who finds the courage to leave an abusive relationship where she was made to believe she was less than worthless. When a woman who was already starved for love from a childhood lacking in it meets a man who promises her the world her naivety gets her trapped emotionally in a very abusive situation. It's not until a Dom interjects and says that no slave contract is binding/legal that she finally asks for help in getting away.

The story picks up five years later where Piper Delaney, after the help of women shelters, an employment agency geared to helping women like her and friends she made along the way, now owns her own business. Piper reminds me of so many women I know. They get help for enough of their past issues to become a strong functioning members of society but they don't get the counseling for the relationship aspect so they either just choose to not get involved in relationships again or just go through men like water. Piper chose to just not get involved with men as she swore she would never get involved with a man in the BDSM lifestyle again and vanilla men just didn't do anything for her. So she made herself content with growing her business and having good friends.

All of that changes when at a party she happens to run into the English Dom from five years ago who saved her by giving her the courage to leave her abusive Master. After everything she's been through she cannot believe she is sexually attracted to Sir Ethan Worthington. But by never dealing with the “abuse” aspect of her previous relationship she finds herself having PTSD episodes which leave her paralyzed.

Can the sweet but firm English aristocrat Dom finally be the one that helps Piper deal with her past trauma and gets her to the point of being able to be in a healthy D's relationship again?

It was great to be back in the Dark Haven world which has come to be as thrilling to be in as Shadowlands. All the previous characters are in this book as Xavier Luduc is Ethan's best friend. All the woman of Dark Haven befriended and rallied around Piper. It was a perfect ensemble cast along with being Ethan and Piper's story.

When it comes to writing an emotional BDSM story, Cherise Sinclair is the Queen! Fans have long been waiting for Ms. Sinclair to write Sir Ethan's story and did she ever!!! This story kept me up until the wee hours of the morning reading because I just couldn't put it down. Piper has escaped an abusive master and made a new life for herself but it left her scared emotionally. Through friends, the meet again and he doesn't remember her until she whispers "worthless". He's stunned as he has thought about her often over the past years. When Piper's past shows up at Dark Haven, her friends rally around her, especially Sir Ethan, who she now is in a relationship with. Can she have the courage to confront her worst fears? This book just made my day when it showed up on my kindle and the story is emotional. It made me laugh, cry, get upset and fall in love. I can easily say that this is going to become one of my favorite books in this series!!!!

I don't remember why did I choose this book in the middle of series to put it in my TBR list and even don't know why I didn't go back to start from the first book when I start to read it, But I'm soo glad that I read it and really enjoyed it and it really intrigued me to go and read others characters story :)

Piper really won me over quickly in this book. With her history she should have been a puddle on the floor when she encountered anyone in the BDSM world. Instead she fought to build herself back up, didn't run when she realized she missed aspects of that world and worked to find the pleasure in BDSM again. Doing all of this and along the way she found great friends and a Master that was patient with her and cherished her like she deserved. I especially like the ending where Ethan let her (and encouraged her) to face down her past and win.

A Good Master

A new book from this author is always on my radar, I love love love her books. This is books I can read over and over again.
This is part of a series but it can be read as a standalone.

The storyline is good and progresses steadily to a happy ending.
All characters is well described and developed in to realistic personalities that has me feeling like they are familiar to me.

Sir Ethan is approaching Piper in a way that makes so much sense to me. She has escaped a Master/slave relationship that was toxic to say the least. Even though Ethan is helping her in her journey back to her fantasy, Piper is a strong women that has managed to build up her life again. There’s just one bit missing.

No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Lots of good dialogues.

Scenes is tasteful and so good described......

The Master of writing BDMS books has once again made a story that keeps me from sleeping because I just can’t stop reading!!!

I recommend this story for all who like good BDMS books.

The Delight
When my favorite author contacted me through FB offering me an ARC of her latest book, I am forever grateful! She didn't have to do it, but I am so happy she did. To be fair, I also bought the book. Cherise Sinclair is an autobuy author and no way I canceling my pre-order. The story is captivating and harsh with an uplifting ending that had my faith in humanity restored.

Review
The story starts up years before current time where we see Piper Delaney in a very bad relationship. Relationship really is too nice of a word for what it really is. Piper, starved for affection, falls for a Doms gentle, but forceful touch. When he has her sign a slave contract, she loves him enough to believe life will continue the way it has only to find the harsh reality anything but loving. Abusive is what it is in the end, but he has convinced her she signed away all her rights and any court would uphold the contract she signed. Young and naive, she sees no way out of the existence of being nothing but worthless to her master.

When he takes Piper to a slave event, along with his new slave, he has already abused Piper so much her confidence is at an all time low. Shaved head, sprained ankle and scars, she overhears her master talking to another Master who is talking about how the contracts aren't legal. About how slaves have a right, contract or not, to leave. This is what Piper needs to find the courage to escape.

Fast forward to current times and Piper has built a life. She is a business owner, has an apartment, great friends and confidence in herself, but she cannot connect with what she considers good men. Men not into D/s.  They just aren't exciting her. One evening after work she goes up to the top of the apartment building for a party her neighbors have arranged. She knows Dixon and Sam are in the BDSM community, but quickly finds out a lot of the party goers are as well. She can't pass up an opportunity to work the party getting her business name out there, but she also mis-reads an interaction and steps in it royally, but also she stands her ground thinking she is protecting another woman like herself.

When business picks up, she realizes she is getting an in with the BDSM community and of course she meets the Dom she called out at the party. He's a client and she plans to treat him like any other client, but she also has panic attacks related to her past. When the women of Dark Haven find out she is a submissive, they decide to show her the club only for her to have a really bad panic attack, which the one Dom she doesn't want to get involved with, brings her back down.

Sir Ethan is a successful business man and really a Sir from Britain. A bad situation in his life made him lose everything, but he has remade himself with the help of his best friend, My Liege. He wants to help Piper, but he has vowed never to have a permanent submissive in his life. Been there, done that, burn. But Piper's submission calls to him. Her fierce protectiveness, how she has over come such a bad situation with hope still in her heart, her successful business and her need to server. He finds himself liking her. Caring for her. And backing away from all he thought he knew.

Events rear their dark heads setting of both Ethan and Piper, but they both need to deal with their past before they an build a future. There is deep darkness to the novel, but also a great lightness in the group of friends who band together to help both of them. Ethan at first thinks he is helping Piper, but quickly learns he has his own triggers to work through that makes him just as human as Piper is.

Cherise Sinclair never shies away from taking on hard subjects. It takes great crafting of story to make it believable, but also make the reader feel the need to jump into the story and protect them. It was hard to read about what the old master said and did to Piper. Her soul was extremely pure and good. She just wanted to be loved and accepted.

What I also loved about the story is while Piper had a Master who was a sadist, in no way did Sir Ethan ever come close to be sadistic. I won't say he was a saint, because he wasn't, he just did it everything in his power to make sure it was a green situation and when it wasn't, he never once made her feel bad for having issues. He was learning about her just as much as she was overcoming her own triggers. And Shabari....oh, my I love Shabari! It is an art form and so beautiful.

I can't recommend this story enough. We see old characters we love, new characters we love and a love story that could be vanilla when needed and chocolate when it was definitely needed. It showed the bad side of the world, while also showing the good side of the world. Everyone is human, but actions speak louder than words at times.

You do not have to have read the series to enjoy this story, but there characters from the series that do make an appearance and have major roles in the romance. You still don't need to know their story to appreciate who they are and their contribution to the story. But I highly recommend you read the series. It is wonderful. Also, do yourself a favor and read I Will Not Beg. It is a story that will stay with you long after the last page.

“Love is a gift. The finest gift you’ll find in a lifetime. Don’t throw it away so casually.”

I Will Not Beg is book nine in the Mountain Masters & Dark Haven series by Cherise Sinclair. From the first book I’ve read by Cherise to this last book, all I can see is growth. This book makes a statement and feels the most real scenario out of all her plots. There’s no prison escape or botched kidnapping, just a horrible master abusing his slaves and he doesn’t even deserve the title he uses. I’m so happy she wrote this story. This book starts off with Piper Delaney deciding to leave her abusive master, after a little knowledge dropped to her from a friendly dom. Five years later, she’s an independent, successful woman, living her best life. She definitely has scars that run deep, but she knows her triggers. And one of her triggers are big, bad doms. Her neighbors are Dixon and Stan from the previous book in the series and we continue to see their relationship play out in a secondary storyline. Dixon manages to pull her into the club so she can expand her business and maybe get back in the scene. The vanilla life is just not working for her. After a misunderstanding, our friendly dom, Ethan Worthington takes Piper under his wing to help ease her anxiety in getting back into the scene. Ethan is a baronet from England with a tech company and is probably one of the nicest heroes Cherise’s written. Ethan and Piper have an unmistakable connection and their relationship transitions to mutual love rather quickly. But threats and wounds from both of their pasts threaten their relationship almost before it starts. I appreciate the author writing so honestly about real injustices and the question of consent. Cherise’s books are a fantasy, but she doesn’t drift away when it comes to technical terms and you can tell she feels a responsibility in what she’s writing about. This book feels the most representative and authentic out of anything she’s written so far about kink.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

Intimidating, passionate, empowering and extremely enlightening, I Will Not Beg was incredible!

Piper and Sir Ethan has got to be the most heart clenching book couple to date from Miss Sinclair! Piper is an amazingly brave, caring, and determined heroine while Sir Ethan is most assuredly the most patient, protective, calm hero I have encountered. These two characters fit BEAUTIFULLY and PERFECTLY. Like two puzzle pieces.

Their romance was SWOONTASTIC and SENSUAL and wholly sweet, its no wonder I am on cloud nine after reading this book. I loved every turn of the page. The story was at times heart breaking and fierce and so full of bravery and breaking down barriers that I had a hell of a time putting the book down. I always learn something new about BDSM with Cherise Sinclair's books and the way this story came together taught me something new and has me itching to give shibari a try.

I Will Not Beg gets a SENSUALLY DELIGHTFUL FIVE STEAMY STARS! You do NOT want to miss the newest book from Cherise Sinclair, I can promise you that!

I Will Not Beg by Cherise Sinclair
I received this book from the author.
I fell like its been FOREVER since I have gotten to visit the Dark Haven. Seeing all these names like Xavier, Stan and even *shivers* DeVeries (Lindsey girl….you are brave to take that one on!!) made my heart so happy. But meeting and falling for Sir Ethan was such a great ride.
There is so much emotion in this story. We are dealing with Piper and all the abuse she endures at “He We Shall NOT Title a Master”. We see the damage she has endured but when she finally breaks her silence and we find out ALL she endured…..sigh…what a spirit to not be broken. What amazing courage to break free and then face her trauma!!!
Ethan has little knowledge that he helped Piper escape her prison and daily abuse when he meets her years later. He just knows she is a skittish yet tempting women he would like to get to know better.
As the couple work on helping her overcome her fear of the D/s world, we see more feeling develop between the two. I was so excited when things went “further” because the faith she has in him but the faith he shows I her after all he has lived through in the past with loving a woman.
These two are such complex characters and I loved each of their flaws. I loved how they both were so reactive and yet reflective later. They both need the other to complete them and are so scared to admit it. When they finally realize their love and devotion to the other is when everything comes crashing down.
I absolutely loved the story but kinda wish we got to see Jerry get his ass handed to him just one more time!! LOL

It's been awhile since we've visited Dark Haven. And boy did I miss it. Ethan is powerful in his protection mode and I loved Piper. Her strength is amazing. Reading the love blossom between these two is powerful enough for most, add in everything else in the story, the rest of the characters from DH and this is a rousing addition to a shelf of favorites. I savored, didn't rush, and want to beg for more.

This author is one of my favorite. The story pulled me in, once again, and didn't let go until I finished the book. The characters, well let's just say I feel like I have known them my whole life and crave being a part of theirs too.

Grab Your Tissues!

This book was really amazing! Cherise Sinclair is hands-down the BEST BDSM romance author around. Not only does she write a story that makes you feel like you know the characters as real people, she always strives to educate about all aspects of the lifestyle. For fans of BDSM romance, you cannot go wrong with any of her books.

Even after nine books, the stories are still fresh, unique, fun filled (although they have dealt with serious topics), erotic and full of romantic drama! It was so wonderful to catch up with the other couples from Dark Haven, especially Dixon (he is like a puppy you just can’t stop playing with)! Even though I cried like a baby, I just couldn’t put this book down! Maybe we will finally see what makes the Australian Dom so grumpy these days!

TRIGGER WARNING: This book deals with serious physical and emotional abuse. It also shows that it is possible to heal, get healthy, and have a positive relationship after surviving an abusive situation. Therapy, supportive friends and family, and confronting the demons are all part of the healing process. This book talks about all of these things in great detail. It is a courageous person who finally takes that first step to take back their lives - no victims here, only courageous survivors I have the utmost respect and admiration for.

RATING: 5 Teacups / 5 Handcuffs

“I received a free review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.”

WARNING: NOT SPOILER FREE!

Rene’s Thoughts:

☞ I loved being back in Dark Haven, I had forgotten how much I love this series and the characters.

☞ One thing I really loved about Piper, is that she rescues herself and creates a new fulfilling life all before she gets to know Sir. Ethan. He may have given her the information she needed to escape the nightmare she was trapped in, but she had the strength of character to escape all by herself.

☞ Sir Ethan is the kind of Dom every sub is looking for! He may be dominating, but he’s also incredibly kind and considerate. He might be jaded from past relationships, but that doesn’t stop him from being an excellent Dom/Hero.

☞ Once they were both able to overcome their past relationship issues, they made a great couple!

☞ The supporting cast in this novel was great, I loved seeing Dixon again and watching him find his well deserved happiness!

Happy Reading!

I didn't go into this book intent on hating it. I finished reading The Dom's Dungeon by Cherise Sinclair a couple days ago and while I really didn't like it, I saw that some readers said this book was better so I wanted to give the author another chance. It is safe to say Cherise Sinclair is not for me though it is difficult to explain without spoilers. I like books that have dark elements but I want the book or at least the author to be self aware that it is dark.

I've read a few of Sinclair's books by now, though I read this one before the other two or three, and one thing that remains the same is the odd way she has of characterizing all of her characters as giant (and I mean GIANT) exaggerated stereotypes. The characters from Texas are such caricatures that it's just painful. Swaggering, straw chewing characters who say things like 'git along little doggie' and other old school John Wayne-esque sayings that nobody actually uses. Especially in 2019.

It's distracting, as are the odd nicknames which didn't really appear much in this book as they have in the others.

In I Will Not Beg, our MC is in a BDSM relationship, embodying the s in the s/M (slave/Master) dynamic. She signed a contract with The Defiler (yup, that's what she calls him in his head the entire book) stating that she'd be his slave and then that particular defiling character and many in the BDSM community treat it like it's a legal and binding contract, going so far as to actually "retrieve" their "runaway slaves". I believe I don't need to point out why this bugs the fuck out of me. Now, again other people in the community seem to back this up, that a slave contract is legal and binding, but correct me if I'm wrong, the pillars of BDSM are Safe, Sane, Consensual, but many, MANY people in parts of this book treat it as she literally signed over her life with no way out.

Alas, the author combats this by getting very preachy with her "good Doms" and having them time and again heavy handedly "teach" the members of their club that a slave contract is not, in fact, legal and binding.

I enjoyed this book. I sometimes start Ms. Sinclair's newer books holding my breath, waiting to find out what each new Dom's "specialty" is, hoping it's not something too "out there" for my taste, yet once again, I didn't have to worry. I actually found it refreshing to see another side of BDSM written about, the service side.
I liked that Piper was self sufficient, that she rebuilt her life on her own. I like that Ethan didn't try to take over. I liked that he encouraged her and helped her help herself.

『🔒 3.5 stars 🔓』

At first, when we meet ᴘɪᴘᴇʀ at her current situation-being enslaved by her "Master", I just couldn't understand how someone could want to be treated like that, and I mean to that extent because I know there are Master/slave relationships in BDSM. Yeah, I have never read one of those but I know they exist. Can someone be so innocent or gullible to believe one of those contracts can't be nullified just by withdrawing your consent? That was Piper's case. I understood why after finding out how she was brainwashed, plus she entered that relationship very young and it was her first experience in the lifestyle. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 even before that, the lack of affection in her childhood didn't contribute.

Thanks to an unknown 𝑒𝓃𝑔𝓁𝒾𝓈𝒽𝓂𝒶𝓃, she finally gets free. Years later we see how she made a life for herself and owns a business, which provides household managers and services. Even with her success, it's not enough. She wants a romantic relationship but for her bad luck the vanilla guys don't wake her interest and the ones who do are dominants. And she's swear off them after her bad experience.

At a friend's party she meets 𝑺𝒊𝒓 𝑬𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏. Yeah, he's a baronet and dominant. The author did a good job portraying him. I almost could picture this 𝑒𝓃𝑔𝓁𝒾𝓈𝒽𝓂𝒶𝓃. Sexy as hell. But her first impression of him isn't good thanks to a misunderstanding. Who would have thought they would meet again thanks to her business?
Trust me a little further, sweetheart. My job is to build you up, not to destroy you."
I liked how their relationship progressed, even if sometimes I felt it was really slow. But after all she suffered, Ethan understands and is so patient with her. What starts just like a way to help her overcome her fears with the lifestyle turns out to be a second chance for both of them. Because Ethan has his own demons too. A betrayal that cost him greatly.

There are two antagonists in this story. First we have the 𝗷𝗲𝗿𝗸 step-brother, I thought he was going to be the cause of the start of the climax but then I realized I was only in the middle of the book. So that wasn't. Although he did his damage playing with Ethan's demons, it was temporary because he realized Piper was not that kind of person. Then we have the 𝘌𝘕𝘚𝘓𝘈𝘝𝘌𝘙's comeback. Piper was going to deal with him sooner or later thanks to the step-jerk. This is the climax. Piper has to face her past and fears and choose how to live her life from now on...with her Dom.

Why 3.5 stars? I don't know how to explain it. It had a pretty good beginning but after the stepjerk I just felt off. It was still entertaining but I think there was unnecessary filling, just a little bit. Maybe it also has to do with the side couple, Stan&Dix, they take some pages here. I'd have preferred if the plot was just centered in Ethan & Piper. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this story very much.

This book was definitely so much better than others that call themselves BDSM (there is a reference in this one to another famous bdsm book, which I just couldn't bear to read more than five pages and cringe everytime the female protagonist spoke. So yeah, I said it.) I want to read the whole series now.
