SET AT THE LEGENDARY HOTEL DEL CORONADO...

There’s a very particular reason why Chloe Sinclair has not met her Mr Right - he was never born. And the reason he was never born is because the right couples in history did not get together. It now falls to Chloe to travel back in time to matchmake like her love-life depended on it…

Each of Chloe’s trips revolves around the iconic Hotel Del Coronado - part historic landmark, part Californian fairytale. Here she experiences the Victorian era when the doors first opened, the Roaring Twenties, the Fifties during the filming of Some Like It Hot and the Eighties karaoke party of your dreams!

A very special friendship has guided her to this point but the adventures go way beyond Chloe's expectations and she soon learns that, when it comes to love, it’s all in the timing…

Wow! Wow! Wow! This book gave me ALL THE FEELS AND THEN SOME!

From the very first word to the very last, I was totally immersed in Chloe’s world in Coronado and I totally and utterly adored EVERY SINGLE WORD.

I read the last 25% of it through tears. Tears of sadness and joy. And I devoured every single word so slowly, never wanting this book to end but wanting to get to the conclusion.

Belinda Jones is a total genius! Who would have thought that time-travel in a romance would work? But oh boy does it work!!

With characters so perfectly created that you felt that you were the protagonist, experiencing every single part of her journey, along with leading men, who were dashing and fabulous, mixed with a stunning and incredible location that I need to visit as soon as I possibly can, this book just left me smiling the biggest smile possible.

A surprise cameo from one of the most famous people in the world, made me grin from ear to ear and wish that I was right there.

I have never wanted to visit a book location more. I was googling pictures, checking out flights and the hotel costs. In fact last night I even watched the film SOME LIKE IT HOT which is featured in the book and lapped up every moment. Watching the hotel on the film, made me feel like I’d already been there, it felt so familiar to me. I think it may be my spiritual home. Please take me with you next time you go Belinda! I NEED to go there!

This is definitely, my most favourite book of the year so far and I think probably one of my most favourite books EVER!!!

It’s such a heart warming, feel good, wonderful read that left me with a proper fuzzy feeling in my heart and my stomach.

In fact once I’d finished, I couldn’t even pick up another book because this one was still on my mind so much. What a book hangover it gave me.

What a flipping come back Belinda Jones. You have smashed it out of the park.

I sincerely hope that your writing mojo has well and truly returned and I cannot wait to read more of your fabulous books in the future.

I COULDN’T RECOMMEND THIS BOOK MORE!!!!

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!!!!!!

From Marilyn Monroe sightings to flapper girl fashion, this adorable time-travel saga is a laugh-out-loud romp in the witty style of Nora Ephron. It's sure to bring a smile to your face! If you've had a tough day and need to slip into a fabulous, fun world, this book is for you. I love all of Belinda Jones's books, but The Hotel Where We Met is especially good. Set at the historic Hotel Del Coronado on Coronado isle in the San Diego bay--where Some Like It Hot with Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon, and Tony Curtis was actually filmed, the story unfolds with a woman on a mission to scatter a good friend's ashes with another friend. The problem? She keeps slipping through time (which is easy to do the moment you set foot into the Del, as the locals call it). Overall, 5 stars for unique story, witty writing, and lovable characters!

Beautiful glorious read! Belinda writes stunning places in such a wonderful evocative way you can't help but be desperate to visit, her characters are always so quirky and warm, you just fall in love with them, I've adored every one of her books and this one is one of her best, it's so original in it's theme, the only downside is I now have to wait for her next book! Don't miss this book it is pure happiness x

I'm a big fan of Belinda Jones's books, mainly because they always have a travel theme and I love to be whisked away with my fiction. It's been a while since her last book but I was thrilled to see that she had a new one out, The Hotel Where We Met, and not only that, it has a time travel theme. Oh be still my beating heart. A travel fiction/time travel mix?! Perfect!

In this book we meet Chloe Sinclair. She's travelling to the iconic Hotel del Coronado in California to meet up with Ross, her late best friend James's former boyfriend. They're going to say goodbye to James at places that were important to him and Ross. Chloe is unlucky in love but something very interesting happens to her on the flight and she finds herself travelling back in time to try and match-make certain couples because the right man for her has never existed because the right people didn't get together in the first place. What a wonderful and inspired concept and to do it in such gorgeous surroundings made for a brilliant and engaging story.

Chloe travels to the 1880s, the 1920s, the 1950s and the 1980s. I think the 50s was my favourite of the eras, not least because the hotel is where Some Like It Hot was filmed and there's some lovely Marilyn Monroe scenes. The 1980s was lovely too though because of the way it affected the characters. I loved all of them though and Chloe's adventures in each era had me smiling.

Belinda Jones always has me wanting to visit the places she writes about. She portrays them in such an enticing manner that I want to jump on a plane straightaway (and I'm not a jumping on a plane type of person). The Hotel del Coronado and the surrounding area sound absolutely perfect. I loved the characters too. Chloe is such a kind and lovely person and her friendship with James, and later Ross, were so warm, the kind of friendships we all aspire to have.

The Hotel Where We Met is the perfect escape novel. I found it a joy from start to finish. I really enjoyed the detail of each of the different eras and how Chloe dealt with them. It's light-hearted yet not fluffy and is the perfect way to satisfy that wanderlust without even leaving the comfort of your own settee. I absolutely loved it.

I'm not a huge fan of time travel stories, but I have thoroughly enjoyed this author in the past so I gave it a try. I liked the history of the hotel and island and even the aspects of the individual love stories. The descriptions are well written and the banter entertaining. However, for me, the plot holes related to time traveling and what you can and can't change were a bit distracting at points (especially towards the end). It is a light fantasy romance that you shouldn't overthink.

I thought this book was absolutely adorable, and the author did a great job of building the world. I definitely want to make a trip to Coronado Island ASAP specifically because I’ve read this book.

I do wish the characters were a bit more developed though. I wanted to know all about Chloe, but don’t think I knew enough by the book’s end!

For anyone who has never read a book by Belinda before (and why not, I ask?), she writes fabulous, fun romance stories set in exotic locations, and this is no exception. The story revolves around the famous Hotel Del Coronado set on Coranado Island, just off the coast of California near San Diego. Many of you will recognise it as the setting for the movie Some Like It Hot with Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis, and this fact does not escape comment in the book, but you’ll have to read it to find out the significance. Disney lovers will also recognise the hotel as the inspiration for the Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World.

The main reason that I love Belinda’s books so much is that she is a genius at bringing the settings of her book to life in the mind of her reader. She whisks you away from whatever mundane location you happen to be reading the book in and straight into the heart of the book, so they are perfect for armchair travellers such as myself. There is not a book of hers that I have read without wanting to jump on a plane and head off to its setting immediately. The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo has been on my bucket list for years after it featured in The California Club (my one chance to go was thwarted by heavy rain washing the road into the sea just before our Highway 1 trip was due to happen. One day I’ll try again!) and Quebec City jumped straight to the top of my dream destination list after I read Winter Wonderland. Now I am busy Googling holiday packages to California so I can visit the Del. (I think I’ve got a good chance on this one as The Irishman is desperate to do a California trip.) This book sells the destination and lifestyle better than any glossy travel brochure or expensive commercial could do. I could picture the hotel clearly in my minds eye and was right there with Chloe. Now I want to be right there for real.

Aside from the exotic setting, this book has a great romance story and fantastic characters that you will absolutely fall head over heels for, but what sets this book apart is the time travel twist. I don’t want to say much and include any spoilers in my review, what I will say is that Belinda is a genius and has really pulled the plot of all plots out of the bag for this book. I absolutely loved it, and loved how it enabled her to twist lots of fun time periods and historical detail together. It is like she has taken everything I ever loved about my all-time favourite romantic fiction books and crammed them all in to this story. I feel like she wrote it just to make me happy, it warmed every cockle of my heart. I raced through it, but didn’t want it to end. It was summer reading perfection, especially for a week that has been damp and dreary here in Yorkshire. Escapism, in every sense of the word, at its best.

Belinda Jones fans will not be disappointed in this book, and those of you who haven’t read any of her books before will get a great introduction to what makes her books so special. As for me, I have a question and a suggestion for Belinda. Firstly, when is the paperback coming out, because I need it for my ‘Belinda Jones’ shelf? Secondly, please don’t leave it so long before you write another book, I have really missed you.

This was a really lovely book in terms of pure escapism.
It was exactly the right thing at a stressful point in my life, something light and cheerful that's so easy to get stuck into.

My one and only criticism though is that the Chloe character never really got fully developed. What does she do for a living? How did she become so close with James? What about her makes her special? We read about the other couples she helps get together and each one has their own special something, but we really don't get much character development from Chloe.

So, overall, a light, enjoyable and entertaining read but from a more critical reader point of view, I think it's a shame there wasn't more character development.
Definitely one for the beach/commute/etc though if you're looking for a fun and easy read.

I think the best way to describe The Hotel Where We Met is to say that it's equal parts rom-com and Quantum Leap. The story itself was pretty cute, with our heroine Chole traveling through time to make sure couples get together so her future Mr. Right will be born. My favorite part of the book was when she witnessed the filming of Some Like it Hot and met Marilyn Monroe--if you know me, you know I'm a huge Marilyn fan, so the fact that she appears as a character in the story was partially why I wanted to read this book!

I also felt that there were some echos of Richard Matheson's Bid Time Return, also known as Somewhere in Time, in this story. Much like The Hotel Where We Met, that novel is a time-travel-focused romance that takes place at the Hotel Del Coronado.

But getting back to The Hotel Where We Met: it was a cute book and I had fun reading it. I got through a great deal of it while traveling back home from a vacation--fitting, since the story begins on a plane ride! If you like time-travel stories and romantic comedies, I'd definitely suggest checking it out!

What a delightful five-star read. Also, what a sublime ending, I loved it, I have read a couple of stories recently where then endings have just been a bit blah, and this one really won me over, it was a chef’s kiss extra to the story in my eyes. This could have been such a depressing story, as Chloe is scattering her friend’s ashes/pebbles, but with the added character of the iconic Hotel Del Coronado it just lightens the whole thing up, it has fast become a new bucket list holiday for me, as man I so want to go visit I loved that you got the descriptions at the end and the bonus details they add so mush, it really feels like you walk in her footsteps as you read. This has just been a great story and an author I have loved for a long time, they create characters that you can’t help but adore, and also when you get to know the person being scattered, they are just such a well written person that you cant help but understand why they are the way they are, and how they wanted control over their ending.

A huge thank you to Belinda Jones and Quercus/Hachette for the early ARC! 🙏❤️

The Hotel Where We Met follows Chloe Sinclair at the iconic Hotel Del Coronado, who discovers she can time travel through rooms helping four couples in different eras find love, so her own soulmate can exist in the present day.

It’s a sweet, time-twisty rom-com with nostalgic charm across decades from Victorian beginnings to ’80s karaoke nights.

The setting is vivid and dreamy, and the multiple love stories are fun and heartfelt.

Chloe’s journey is uplifting and emotional, with that feel-good, armchair-travel vibe this author excels at. However, with so many characters and timelines, it can feel a little crowded and episodic, which pulled it slightly back from higher ratings for me.

Overall, a lovely, cozy read, perfect for fans of romantic escapism and historical time travel.
I’m glad I experienced it and would recommend it to fellow Belinda Jones lovers!

I loved this book, it was utterly delightful to read! I read it on a plane and thought a travel-themed book mixed with time travel, friendship, romance, and more would be a great combination...and it was! It was so much fun to read about Coronado through the ages, and matchmaking in different time periods. I live in San Diego and even I learned a lot about the history of Coronado. Marilyn Monroe's appearance in the book was a fantastic bonus and then I had a good excuse to watch Some Like it Hot after I finished reading! The characters are very believable and appealing, the clever time-traveling part of the plot assures lots of twists and turns you won't expect, yet it is written in a believable and non-sci-fi way. I finished reading this book with a smile on my face and can't wait for Belinda's next book!

Chloe is on her way to Coronado Island to meet Ross, the ex-boyfriend of her friend James who has died. Together they are going to carry out his last wishes.
During the flight messages appear on her screen telling her the reason she hasn't met the love of her life yet is because he hasn't been born. It tells her that things will change when she reaches her hotel and will time travel to remedy this.
When she meets Ross, he is lovely and she understands why James fell for him. Over the course of their time together she understands the depth of their feelings.
When she reaches her room the magic starts to happen and things start to fall into place.
I didn't realise until I opened this book that Belinda Jones had died and feel sad that there will no more books as lovely as this from her.

The Hotel Where We Met is a heartwarming and sweet book with a truly unique premise. The main character travels back in time to play matchmaker for couples, hoping that their love will eventually lead to the birth of her true love generations later. This plot is exciting, engaging, and fun to read.

The author provides excellent vivid descriptions of the books setting- Coronado Island- which adds charm and atmosphere to the story. The main character, Chloe, is very likeable, as are the supporting characters who each play important roles.
This is a sweet, closed-door romance that I would rate four stars. I recommend it to readers looking for a lighthearted, warm, and uplifting read.

The Hotel Where We Met by Belinda Jones is an epic romance, hilarious comedy and time travelling masterpiece all set in the gorgeous location of Coronado, California.

Chloe, our protagonist, is mourning the loss of her best friend, James and is fulfilling his final wish by visiting his one true love Ross in sunny California. Set on the glorious island of Coronado and the Hotel Del Coronado, this story moves at a great pace and kept me gripped.

Each era was beautifully detailed and so truly believable, I felt like I was really there. The love stories were so romantic and I felt myself rooting for each couple to make it.

I just absolutely adored everything about this book!! It is genuinely the best book I have ever read! Belinda Jones is a genius storyteller!

I try not to compare books to each other, but if you love Ashley Poston Seven Year Slip, you will love this too, so go grab it from the shops!
Told in multiple (but chronological) timelines, the book follows Chloe as she travels to Coronado to carry out her late friends wishes and she gets embroiled in a time travel plot to matchmake certain couples.
I loved it so much, I loved Chloe, I loved the premise and her journey through time at the hotel and the people she met along the way.
The writing style just drew me in and I was lost in the plot. I'm not a massive magical realism fan, but if they are all like this, maybe I should read them more.

This was the most adorable, feel good, chic lit book.
The premise is ridiculous. Chloe takes a trip to bid a final farewell to her gay best friend and ends up as a time travelling matchmaker making sure that the correct people get together to ensure her future Mr Right has a chance to be born.
It sounds crazy but it’s lots of fun and as always Belinda Jones’ knack for bringing the settings to life makes this a really enjoyable read.

This one left me feeling a little bit confused, happy yet unsatisfied and slightly off. It just didn’t connect with me and the pairing up of characters just felt a bit forced and rushed and the love story just didn’t really feel worth it. It’s not that I didn’t like it, I did, it was fun and a unique plot but it felt surface level rather than deep. I think this would be a perfect holiday read and one where you leave it for someone else to enjoy. 3.5 🌟s for me.

Light romantic time travel

Light romantic time travel with incredible imagination, set in Coronado Island. Since I have been there, the descriptions had special interest for me. Very clever writing includes interesting characteristics of each time period. I definitely wanted to see how it ended.

This book was fascinating and holds so many secrets and so much history of the Del on Coronado. I found it while searching for books set in San Diego, and I am so glad I did!! I highly recommend reading this book, especially if you are going to visit Coronado or have a love for Southern California 🥰

I love everything Belinda Jones writes. This has got to be my favourite though.

A part of me wanted her to go back to the 50s and end up with Jack. I fell in love with that character.

I highly recommend.
