Safety Breach was a quick, action-packed read with an engaging plot and a delightful romance.

When the serial killer who tried to kill her discovers her WITSEC location, Gemma Hanson narrowly escapes with the help of Sheriff Kellan Slater, the son of one of the men who died in the original attempt on her life. With a killer once again after her, Gemma and Kellan need to find a way past their personal history to work together to catch the killer before it’s too late.

The premise in this book was an interesting one, a profiler who worked on a serial killer case finds herself the victim of that same killer and is forced her into hiding after she is nearly killed. The relentlessness of the killer definitely ups the suspense factor as they’re determined to finish what they started with Gemma leading to multiple action-packed scenes where they come after Gemma. I thought the ending was very well done and the author did a great job keeping the stakes just high enough to keep things interesting while managing to tie up several plotlines.

Gemma and Kellan’s relationship is on shaky ground when the book begins due to Kellan’s father’s death and Gemma’s involvement in it. The pair definitely have a hard time trusting one another as they both have feelings of resentment over what happened. But, despite the fast pace of the story and the fact that the two had little downtime, I thought the characters worked things out in a believable enough way that I was able to buy into their romance. Plus the chemistry between the two was fantastic and I enjoyed the few scenes where they were able to find some alone time.

My issue with this book, which seems like a common issue among other readers, is that it felt like we were just dropped into the middle of the story. The book starts with Gemma finding her safehouse compromised and goes from there with little explanation at the time. It definitely felt like a chunk of the book was missing and that we should have had more information about what was going on. A prequel novella or even a prologue would have helped clear things up immensely and I wish the author had included that.

Pacing issues aside, Safety Breach was an enjoyable read and I will be checking out the next book in the series.

**I received an advance copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.**

Good start to the new series, with a good combination of suspense and second chance romance. Gemma is in Witness Protection after surviving a serial killer's attack. That protection disappears when the killer discovers Gemma's location. The book opens with a bang as Gemma arrives home to find that her house was broken into. Just as she's ready to call for help, Sheriff Kellan Slater comes to deliver the news of her compromised location. Gemma and Kellan have a troubled past, but she knows she can trust him to keep her safe.

A year earlier, Gemma was a profiler working to identify a serial killer. A confrontation with the killer resulted in the deaths of a sheriff and deputy, and Gemma's wounding. She blames herself for the deaths, as the serial killer turned out to be an intern working with her, and she never connected him with the killer. To make matters worse, the sheriff who died was Kellan's father. Gemma and Kellan were involved at the time, and Kellan is torn between blaming her and blaming himself for not arriving in time to protect his father or her.

I enjoyed the rekindling of the relationship between Gemma and Kellan. They are wary around each other at first, as the past isn't far from their minds, but it's also clear that the feelings between them are as strong as ever. Kellan is determined to keep things professional since getting distracted by Gemma could get them both killed. However, good intentions didn't last long in the face of intense chemistry. The attraction between them built even in the midst of the danger, with a few pretty steamy moments in the rare downtimes. Both of them needed to overcome the events of the past before they could look to a future, and facing down those who wished them harm gave them the chance to do so. The ending was great as both admitted their feelings and put the past behind them.

The suspense and action were intense and almost nonstop. The opening pages had Gemma discovering her safe house was compromised, Kellan arriving to tell her that the serial killer knew where she was, and the two of them surviving being shot at and her house being blown up behind them. The serial killer, Eric, spent a good part of the book taunting them with his nearness and ability to attack them at will. There were also hints that the deaths of Kellan's father and the deputy were not all that they seemed. Add in a couple of Federal Marshals whose ethics were in doubt, and Kellan had trouble knowing who he could trust. There were several situations when Kellan and Gemma were in danger that could have been avoided if Kellan had listened to the instincts that told him that he shouldn't do what he did. The resolution came at the end of several twists and turns that kept them guessing. While most questions were resolved, there is one thread that was left hanging. Presumably, it will be answered either in the next book or will carry through the series and be resolved at the end of it.

This first book in the exciting Longview Ridge Ranch series hits the ground running. Tension and romance are equally served in this quick read by Delores Fossen. Gemma Hanson should be safe in WITSEC. Unfortunately, the serial killer she escaped has found her and now her life is in danger yet again. She learns this from Sheriff Kellan Slater, someone from her past. The two once shared a strong connection and Kellen feels he is best suited to not only deliver this news to Gemma, but to take responsibility for her protection and safety.

Gemma is a profiler who was finding success in a serial killer case, but she got too close and became a victim of the brutal killer. She managed to escape and forced into hiding. The killer has no intention on letting Gemma go on with her life, and will do whatever he can to bring her to an end once and for all. Kellan has a stake in this as well as his father was also a victim during the time Gemma's life was at stake.

Trust is key when danger is the name of the game. Factoring in the emotional draw and sizzling attraction that Gemma and Kellan do their best to fight, Safety Breach proved to be an excellent and exciting read. I love second chance romances, and with the element of danger in this story, I gobbled this intense book up on one sitting.

Did Not Finish
January 12, 2020
I was given a free ARC copy in return for my honest opinion. I try to express only my most honest opinion in a spoiler free way. If you feel anything in my review is a spoiler and is not already hidden in spoiler brackets please let me know. Thank you.

So I didn't finish this book. Made about a quarter of the way through and then gave up. I found it highly boring. Right away there was suppose to be action that I didn't find thrilling in any way, the romantic tension is suppose to be there between to MC's and I don't feel any of it. Plus it feels like I'm starting a series at book 2, not book 1. The author tries to explain what happened before as it comes up in the book. But it comes off as a recap from something that I should have already known from a previous book. I just can't force myself to read this at all.

How I choose my rating:
1* Did not finish, or hated it but forced myself to finish.
2** Didn't really like it. Didn't hate it but not sure why I finished it other then for some closure.
3*** I liked it. I had some issues with it, but as a whole it was good. I probably won't reread again ever, but there is a chance I might finish the series. (If part of one) But if not it's not a huge loss.
4**** I really liked this book. Maybe not a work of genius, but highly entertaining. I might reread this again, and I will finish the series. (If part of one) I would recommend to those I know hold interest in this books content.
5***** I loved this book. I found little to no issues with it at all. I will definitely be rereading this and probably more than once. I will finish the series and reread it multiple times. (If part of one) I will recommend this book to EVERYONE!!!!

An absolute thriller from cover to cover. Gemma and Kellan are facing certain death while battling their hearts. After the events of a year ago, both are a bit skittish around each other, but trying to catch a sadistic serial killer who loves to play games might be just what they need to find the comfort they once had. A brilliant page-turner for anyone who likes their thrillers with a little heat.

This one was ok. I think the reason why this wasn't higher rated for me was that it felt like it never had any moments of calm or built tension. Since the whole book is action there's no character development or moments to really know them. It never dips below like a 7 in terms of action and general tension. The whole book feels like the third act of a book. It needed build up, moments of real calm.

Since I love the romantic suspense genre, and am a fan of this author, I was eager to get in at the beginning of Delores Fossen's new Longview Ridge Ranch series for Harlequin Intrigue, but even with a cast of characters listed at the beginning, when I started reading the very first chapter, I couldn't help but wonder if I'd possibly missed a precursor novella or novel leading into this one because the beginning of this novel seems to start somewhere in the middle of the action, as if we already knew more than we could possibly know. This problem could have easily been corrected with a preliminary chapter or even a foreword, set one year earlier, explaining the situation and clarifying a timeline of events for this story. It's for that reason, as well as a couple of other minor issues, that it gets a 4-star rather than a 5-star rating from this reader--a very good read with a few flaws.

Once you begin to pick up the story line, the suspense in this novel hits you like a runaway train. Gemma Hanson, the heroine and a profiler, has been in the Witness Protection Program for the past nine months, and in the hospital for the 3 months prior to that, having being kidnapped, rescued, and recovering from the 3 bullet wounds to her torso, put there by a former student and intern in her class on profiling, serial killer, Eric Lang. The ironic fact that Gemma didn't know she was instructing, and sometimes relying on a serial killer was not lost on this reader, but Eric's rationale for wanting Gemma dead is never stated, and I believe it should have been.

Eric disappeared after abducting and shooting Gemma, but as the novel opens, Gemma is returning home to her safe house, not far from where last year's events occurred, another choice I questioned, since generally, the Witness Protection Program sets victims up in safe houses far from where the danger is. With her groceries in hand, and as soon as she opens the door, Gemma realizes that her security system has been breached. She drops her groceries, backs away from the door, and calls 911, and, of course, Sheriff Kellan Slater, the hero, with whom Gemma once shared a romantic and sexual history, shows up and comes to her rescue after a shootout with a hired gunman stationed across the street, and just as they think they're safe, Gemma's safe house explodes. With all signs pointing to Eric, and a possible leak or mole at WITSEC giving away her location, Kellan, once again becomes Gemma's protector, and that's just for starters.

Obviously, Gemma needs 'round the clock protection, she trusts Kellan, and since he feels responsible for her safety, he's the obvious choice. But he's got other responsibilities, and, as the body count rises, other abductions and murders abound, the FBI gets involved, and Gemma's WITSEC handler and her aide show up. Neither Kellan nor Gemma know who to trust, and through it all, Eric manages to wreak havoc and elude capture time and again, while making sure that Gemma knows he still plans to finish what he started and kill her. The suspense in this romantic suspense novel occurs at a breakneck pace, but, of course, the romance side of things between Kellan and Gemma ends up taking a back seat until nearly the end of the novel, and while their previous relationship ended, Ms. Fossen makes sure we know that it just wasn't their time when it all began, but it might just be that their time is now, if, and only if, Kellan can manage to keep Gemma alive and capture or kill Eric.

As romantic suspense novels go, this one is quite a page-turner, loaded with danger, action, and more twists and turns than a roller coaster, and just like a roller coaster, it keeps you going full-tilt until the expected HEA ending, which, in this reader's opinion, was a tad too abrupt. All in all, it's a very good start to Ms. Fossen's new series, and I'm eager to learn which of the many characters introduced in this novel, will be featured in the next.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

Gemma Hanson is in the Witness Protection Program (WITSEC). She was a profiler who sometimes assisted the FBI. One year ago she had been shot by a serial killer. The serial killer kidnapped her and shot her three times. Then he escaped when the authorities showed up. Thus Gemma was placed into witness protection. But there's a leak at WITSEC and the serial killer has found Gemma once again. Sheriff Kellan Slater rushes to Gemma's location to warn her. The serial killer now has hired accomplices. One of them starts firing at Gemma and Kellan from the second story window of the house across the street from Gemma's house. They were basically sitting ducks pinned down just outside of Gemma's house. Kellan returns fire and the shooter leaves. Then BAM! Gemma's house explodes and goes up in flames. Gemma and Kellan have a history with each other, but Kellan knows he needs to keep himself in professional mode and do all he can to keep Gemma safe. That means finding and apprehending the serial killer. Oh! Did I mention that the serial killer had been Gemma's intern murdering people right under profiler Gemma's nose? There's lots more danger and action after this initial scene.

Safety Break is the first book in author Delores Fossen's new series, Longview Ridge Ranch. This story is a great beginning to the series. There's lots of action and twists and turns as events occur that seem to make for more questions than answers. There's lots of suspnse to keep the reader turning the page to see what is going to happen next. Also there are fascinating characters and a mystery for the slater family to solve as the series continues. Romantic Suspense fans are going to love this book.

No surprises here. The happily-ever-after is a given with a Harlequin book, but the suspense part just kind of petered out into a completely predictable ending also. Also, one of the plot threads is completely left hanging, presumably to be picked up in a future installment of the series.

What made me laugh was the number of times Kellan "cursed". He "cursed" when the bad guys got the upper hand or things didn't go as planned; he also "cursed" every time things started heating up with Gemma. Cursing was his go-to strategy regardless of the situation, but since we're in the squeaky-clean Harlequin universe here, what he actually said is never specified.

A new romantic suspense novel by Delores Fossen means cancelling all your social engagements, switching off your phone and devouring her high-octane tales of intrigue, passion and danger and she hits it out of the park once again with her latest novel, Safety Breach.

Gemma Hanson is a woman who lives in constant fear. Having narrowly escaped a serial killer intent on killing her, Gemma had thought that she was reasonably safe in witness protection. Gemma is still constantly on edge and has had to put her entire life on hold while the man who had tortured and terrified her is still on the loose. Thus far, he has avoided capture and has led the authorities a very merry dance, but he has been keeping his distance. Until now. He has discovered her WITSEC location and her safety has been breached. He wants to finish what he has started, but he hasn’t counted on Gemma having somebody in her corner who will do whatever it takes to protect her and keep her safe: Sheriff Kellan Slater.

An incendiary passion united Kellan and Gemma, but with a dangerous enemy intent on causing them maximum destruction, their relationship had come to a sudden end. Too much damage had been done by the serial killer stalking Gemma, but now that he has broken into her home and jeopardised her safety once again, she has no other choice but to put herself in Kellan’s hands. As never forgotten feelings come rushing to the surface, Kellan and Gemma soon find themselves giving into their desire for one another. But with danger round every corner, does their love stand any chance of surviving? Or is their relationship doomed?

Can Kellan and Gemma catch the killer and ensure that justice is served? Or will this cruel murderer succeed in tearing them asunder forever?

A stellar romantic suspense novel that will leave you breathless, Safety Breach is a captivating page-turner you will struggle to put down. Tense, terrifying and packed with jaw-dropping twists and turns, Safety Breach is classic Delores Fossen and a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and reading until the early hours of the morning. With an intelligent heroine, a sexy hero and plenty of intrigue and suspense, Safety Breach is the latest compulsively readable romantic thriller by Delores Fossen.

Safety Breach was a page-turner in the beginning. You were thrown into the action with Gemma finding her safe house compromised (A forward or prologue would have been great to explain why. The author fills it in but it still caused confusion in the beginning). Her knight in shining arrives just in time to save her, again. Kellan doesn't want to still have feelings for Gemma, his teenage love, but he does and it complicates matters when they're trying to find a serial killer.

I had a few problems with this one which is why I docked a star from it. First, if you read a lot of police procedurals, prepare to suspend reality because a lot of what the sheriff does, doesn't make any sense, especially if you know a cop. He moved Gemma around at times when he KNEW that the killer would probably be waiting but he'd do it anyway. He'd say, "It's not safe here, we have to move" and then they'd get caught in a trap and he'd take her back to where he had just said it wasn't safe. You will have to suspend reality here, trust me.

I can say the action never stops, even if some of it is created by their own hand. Once the web of lies starts to unravel you start to see why there was a web in the first place. The book culminates at the end with an unexpected resolution of the mystery with a twist.

I wanted to feel bad for Gemma but I couldn't. She was the type who did, not the type to cower, which was good. However, her job was as a profiler and she worked with the guy for years and never figured out he was a serial killer??? Again, suspend reality. I liked Kellen but I didn't understand why he had to 'huff' or 'mumble some profanity' every time he had to show emotion.

In the end, Gemma and Kellan do agree to try again, even if their HEA happens in the last paragraph of the book. I have to assume since this is the first in the series, and there are more to come with his brother's, that we will see more of Gemma and Kellan in the future.

Reviewed at Happily Ever After Romance

Safety Breach begins the Longview Ridge Ranch series with an intense opening and the tensions, danger, and not knowing who to trust just ratchets up a little more with each new chapter.

Gemma has been in witness protection for more than a year now. She’d been the target of a serial killer, one who has her in their crosshairs once again. She and Kellan were romantically involved but when his father was killed and Gemma wounded everything changed between them… and you should discover those details on your own.

Now, Gemma is once again in danger and perhaps the last person she expected to come to her rescue was Kellan. The attraction, the chemistry between them is still apparent and will not be denied as they get a second chance to get things right between them. The past will have to be accepted as unchangeable and left there in the past if they are to have any future together… beyond finding the person behind the threats against them both right now.

Safety Breach was breathtakingly intense and action-packed from the first page, and it never let up as more danger is tossed in Kellan’s and Gemma’s paths. I liked this couple, what they were going through felt realistic and believable, and the feeling of something being withheld from them is consistent. There is one question that didn’t get a true answer and I suspect that will be a woven thread throughout the rest of the series.

In all, I had a fantastic time with Kellan and Gemma in Safety Breach and will be following the rest of this series… in fact, it would be difficult to keep me away from it now, fortunately, I have purchased the entire series so binge-reading is in my future.

I own a Kindle edition of Safety Breach.

The cover of my edition of this book proudly proclaims, "Delores Fossen's 110th Book."

And I dare say it's exactly the same as the last 109.

Sheriff Kellan Slater assists former criminal profiler (and former lover) Gemma Hanson when her witness protection location is leaked, enabling serial killer Eric Lang to come after her again. Kellan believes Gemma had a part to play in the murder of his father at Eric's hands, which complicates the romantic feelings they have for one another.

Sound familiar?

Fossen doesn't deviate from her formula whatsoever for this one. Despite Eric being a serial killer, and serial killers generally preferring to do their work hands-on, he has the usual array of hitmen working for him, while all the various suspects show up at various points to make threats or proclaim their innocence. The plot mostly consists of Kellan receiving a phone call from somebody, making him curse and making Gemma gasp. Rinse and repeat.

Kellan and Gemma's relationship was too ill-defined for this to work as a second chance love story. She apparently lost her virginity to him at 18, but we're then told they were in a relationship a year ago. No details over what led to them breaking up. I'm assuming because she went into witness protection. But, as usual for a Fossen book, it hardly matters. They're just hood ornaments being directed where the plot needs to go. H and h are both largely personality-free and barely discuss the baggage between them.

But I enjoyed it because it was fast-paced and never boring. Even a by-the-numbers Delores Fossen book can still be more diverting than a lot of the books in this line.

Safety Breach is the first installment in the Longview Ridge Ranch series. I love Ms. Fossen’s writing style and how she transforms her writing talent into something so believable. I got lost in this book and didn’t want to put it down. You have a person that has been hiding in WITSEC, Gemma, and it seems that there is someone in their circle that is leaking out the information. Then there is the Sheriff Kellan a rancher that has his own reservations in regards with Gemma. One dark night his deputy was shot and murdered as well as his father. Now he needed to go to Gemma and keep her safe from Eric the serial killer. They are going to have a long journey in order to keep safe they are going to go through shootings, accidents and even bombings. They are going to have to keep one step ahead of Eric but more people are going to come out of hiding and might ruin their chances to find him. I know that Gemma blames herself because she was working closely with him and not only that she was a profiler. Sure Kellan could have blamed her because if she could have seen who she was working with maybe his Deputy and his father wouldn’t be dead. But then again when dealing with a serial killer no one knows what is going on in their head and what they are capable of. Who can they trust? Can those people have ulterior motives?

If you enjoy well paced romantic suspense I highly recommend reading anything by Delores Fossen and this is another fine example of her action packed page turner style, an enthralling read that I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into.

Gemma Hanson is in a WITSEC location after being shot - three times - by a serial killer who used to work for her. Now he's coming back to kill her and knows where she's been relocated to. When she was shot, two men were killed and the other woman with her disappeared. One of the men killed was the local Sheriff, the father of her then boyfriend, who took over from his father and is now Sheriff Kellan Slater. The dramatic events ended their relationship but when another woman is murdered and a note is left stating Gemma's location and saying she's next, Kellan is determined to protect her from harm this time.

This is a dramatic story of betrayal, murder, romance, secrets and surprises. It is a suspense filled, edge of your seat read that I can't recommend highly enough. Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me a copy of it via NetGalley and look forward to reading more in this series in future!

SAFETY BREACH by Delores Fossen is the first book of the Long View Ridge Ranch series. It’s packed with lurking dangers, accusations, and too many suspects for Sheriff Kellan Slater. He trusts no one and vows to protect Gemma Hanson after her WITSEC location is breached. Once a profiler, Gemma is almost killed on a serial killer case that left Kellan’s father and a deputy dead. Danger is everywhere. Gemma realizes there is no safe place, not even in Kellan’s protective custody, especially with the attraction between them intensifying.

The serial killer’s taunting them creates suspense in this quick action-packed plot and a steamy romance between Kellan and Gemma. The twists and turns captivate me page by page to find out what happens next. There is a subplot of the murder of Kellan’s father that leads into the upcoming books in the series. Delores Fossen creates masterful of intriguing plots, usual suspects, and sexual attraction between the hero and the heroine. Safety Breach is as explosive as all Delores Fossen’s Harlequin Intrigues books.

I won this book through a goodreads.com giveaway or I probably would have never read it. I am usually a big fan of Delores Fossen (that is why I entered the giveaway) but this book left me feeling like I had missed most of the story. Several times I looked online to make sure I wasn't missing earlier books in the series, but I guess this truly is the first book.

We start off with the main characters already being pursued by a serial killer who was coming back to finish a job he started a year ago. It took me several tries to "get into" the story. By the end of the book I was just ready to get it over with. The main couple in the story had actually fallen for each other the previous year and they were realizing they had never gotten over each other.

I don't know how many books are going to be in this series, but I doubt I look for anymore of them.

Who are Kellan, Eric, and Gemma? What do they each do for a living? Why is Kellan at Gemma's home? Who are Caroline, Rory, Amanda, and Maylene? Why does Kellan call Owen? Oh my gosh!! This suspenseful mystery was as much a thriller as anything else. Even a touch of a second-chance romance came into play for possibly more than one set of people. Who is behind everything that is going on and why? Or are there multiple people? When corruption starts to be a possibility, does it get confirmed? Read and see!

Safety Breach is book one in a new series, and it definitely delivers on the romantic suspense. I do have to say there were a few questionable things (on the law enforcement end) within the pages of the story that had me scratching my head, but overall, I enjoyed watching how this story played out.

Gemma finds herself in danger once again, when her safety is again at risk because her "safe" location has been compromised. And even more, the sheriff who's come to her aid, is someone she knows. I liked the angle at play here - this second chance but only if we can survive what's coming.

The story grabbed and held my attention from page one, full of action, suspense, and a touch of drama. I didn't want to put the book down because I had to know how things would work out.

Gemma finds her life in danger once again when a serial killer she escaped from comes for her once again. Sheriff Kellan is the guy who will do everything in his power to keep her safe, while they had a history together hell have to look past that and try to find the killer and stop him from striking again.

I love a good mystery suspense novel and this book was pretty great. There was so much action going on from the beginning to end that it traps readers into wanting more and not stoping till the very end. There was so much twists and turns and a romance that'll keep the readers entertained. Peronally I loved it and highly recommend readers to check this book out when you can.

Safety Breach by Delores Fossen is book 1 of Longview Ridge Ranch. It is about Gemma Hanson is in the Witness Protection Program and was a profiler who was shot by a serial killer and he has found her. Sheriff Kellan Slater ends up protecting her. It is an action pact mystery which keeps you guessing. It is well written with good character development. Nice start ot a new series. It does well as a stand alone. I am sure there is a story arc that will be noticeable the longer the series goes.

I received a copy thru an author giveaway but the review is given voluntarily and is my honest reviewed.

This book grabbed me from the first page on.I couldn't put it down..I held my breath alot reading this book! I was worried for Gemma and Kellan that the serial killer would take them both out. He was a sneaky one..Kellan is mad at Gemma but they were once lovers..Can they survive all of this danger to become a couple? The serial killer is squirrely and has helpers every where he turns..It is sickening how many people help him to pull out the stops to get to Gemma...ONce you think things are done, nope than you are in for even more drama to figure more out that is going on..I was on a very fast roller coaster holding on for my life.

The story starts off with readers wondering if they are missing part of the story. Even though this is the first in a series readers at first will feel like they are missing something.

The author is able to fill in the details as the story moves forward. The story flows well enough but lack of background puts a lot of readers wondering they purpose of this story. The author is talent and is able to pull off stories but this one falls flat for the beginning of a series.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy Delores Fossen Safety Breach.

A serial killer is after a profiler and she needs protection. It will come to her in the form of a sheriff who delivers her the bad news to her as she in hiding. The two will try to stay out of harm way but the serial killer has other plans.

Can they stay ahead of the killer or will they become a victim? As danger lurks will they be able to rely on each other even to the extent of falling for each other. It is a quick paced read of suspense and romance thrown together.

Safety Breach, written by popular Harlequin author Dolores Fossen was an entertaining enough Witness Protection breach story that suffers from stale material, but Fossen manages to keep it fresh enough to be a recommend to all Harlequin Intrigue fans. This is my first Fossen novel and will be the first of many if her novels I will read if they keep my nose implanted as this did. This was a two sitting novel for me. I wish I could do 3.5 stars on Goodreads, but at least in my review I can say:

3.5/5.

The plot of this novel, like others by Delores Fossen, has lots of twists and turns before it reaches its conclusion. A serial killer is trying to kill Gemma, a police profiler; and he always seems to be one step ahead of the sheriff, creating all kinds of disruptions and scares. Gemma doesn't seem to be able to find safety no matter where she goes or whom she is with. The author builds suspense very quickly in the novel, and it doesn't let up until the end. A sex scene is included although I didn't think it was necessary for the effectiveness of the plot.

I won this book in a goodreads giveaway, thank you Goodreds.

A Sherriff & Witsec protectee who were previously involved in a romance. Her location is leaked and he comes to her rescue .. more or less. The book is marked as Halequin intrique. Not so much, more like a series of poor choices that kept going on and on. And a romance that was off. I am sad to say I had a hard time reading this one.

I generally LOVE books by Delores Fossen, but during this one, I felt a bit confused. There were so many characters to concentrate on that I forgot who did what, or what they were accused of. I really liked Gemma and Kellan, though, so that kept me in the book through to the end. I will be looking for the next story, because I think it going to be good.

I won this as a goodreads first-read giveaway. It was exactly what you would expect of a a Harlequin Intrigue book, full of suspense and romance but an easy read and predictable. It was definitely a page turner. My one criticism is that the back stories of the main and side characters hinted at other books in this series had to be read first, but I believe this was the first of the series.

Wow, I had no idea that Harlequin even had Intrigue books. I won this as part of an ARC giveaway and I'm so glad I did. This was very enjoyable with serial killers and romance. The only thing complaint I have is that it felt like it was the 3rd or even 4th book in a series, but it's just the 1st. I will be looking to read the upcoming books in this series!
