This would be a good reference text for anyone writing or doing a serious study on the history of Sweden, unfortunately, I took it up as a leisurely fun read, which it was not. I did gain considerable knowledge about the history of the country that my maternal grandparents were born in. I learned next to nothing about the specific part of the country that they came from, there was a casual mention of Gallivare due to its mining for ore and nothing about the Torneo region except to say that it was a rather porous border and people went back and forth from Sweden to Finland and from Finland to Sweden. My Mom spoke Finish at home and only learned English when she went to school at age 6. All in all, I would recommend this book as a good study guide for a broad overview of Sweden and her history.
