Alex Michaels is right at home with the rest of the quirky residents of the Marysville Marina – but when a close friend goes missing, she’ll have to batten down the hatches to uncover the truth no matter how choppy the water gets in the first novel of the Alex M. Mystery series!
She was never more at home than she was on the water. In fact, Alex loved it so much she’d ditched her high finance job and moved on to her converted tow tug docked at Pier 17 in a tiny California coastal town.
But it’s not all smooth sailing. When the man who’s been like a father to her disappears and is presumed dead, Alex is stunned to learn she’s the primary beneficiary of his sizable estate. And when Bill “Bugsy” Beedle, the new rookie marina manager, accuses her of being involved in the disappearance, he’d do well to keep his life vest on, because talk like that’ll get you tossed overboard – dimples and all. It’s up to Alex to navigate her way through the uncharted waters of intrigue, insinuation and a murder investigation.
Ms. Seacroft did a good job of the characters, the location, descriptions & conversations. I haven’t read many mysteries lately. I’m usually good with figuring out “who done it”. At the mystery time in this novel, I had a niggling of who might have done it. While I was eventually right, I didn’t find out until the end who did it! This book was entertaining.
This is one of THE MOST amazing books I have read in forever. It involves all the emotions and I had to wipe away quite a few tears. Quite an array of characters. Some likable and some not so likable. It gave me a surprise and made my heart feel warm. Well done!!!!😄Thanks
Really enjoyed this book, storyline about a woman name Alex who lives in a boat on the marina, has a lot of old timer friends, one goes missing, was he murdered? Good reading, fun characters, and humor, plus a little romance.
A fast-paced thriller with so many believable characters. The disappearance of Nat is finally revealed at the end of the book but it doesn't give you any idea as to where he is and why he disappeared. It was hard to put the book down. I would give it a 4.5 if I could.
Very interesting well written mystery. Unexpected twists, which has you guessing. The boat angle was very different from any other book I’ve read. Very enjoyable! Looking forward to next adventure.
I loved this story. The main character is sassy and quick witted—exactly what I like to read. I loved the marina setting and the secondary characters all jumped off the page. Well done!
