When Hermione travels to Australia to give back her parent's memories, she finds out that her entire life was a lie.
Instead of being a muggleborn like she always belived she was, she now finds out that her parents are of magical descent. Not only that but her ancestors are also part of a magical ritual that pairs one person of each pureblood family with another, to marry and bare children.

Draco on the other hand always knew that one day he was to marry someone he didn't chose himself. What he didn't expect however was to end up married to Hermione Granger.

I like the premise and the idea of the fic but wasn't thrilled with the outcome of it.
Not only didn't the characters hold up to their canon counter parts, the world building in the fic doesn't make any sense.
If all the pureblood families knew about the pact, why would they be on opposide sides in the war?
And how does the "earth magic" explain muggleborns? If only a few people were given the gift of magic and agreed to marry eachother so that magic would live on, how come all the other people have magic as well?
description

Also the characters felt a bit flat to me.
There were no sparks between Hermione and Draco. They just accepted things and went with it.
It was kind of boring.

I hoped for so much more. The beginning was great, but I felt that the author skipped too much after the 60 or 70% mark. For instance, I would have loved to read more about adding more families to the sacred list other than a small note in the epilogue. I would have loved to see Dramione grow as a couple, but I didn't get any of that as that part was simply missing. The story could have easily benefitted from extra chapter or 10.

It didn‘t have the same emotional depth as the other fic I‘ve read from this author, probably because it was much shorter.

I think I've already read this a long time ago but I can't remember for sure. Still it was a unique twist on Old Magic and blood pacts. I liked the progression of the plot and the relationship. The epilogue was fulfilling though I wouldn't mind some bonus chapters 🥰

I’m a sucker for destined mates trope.

I wish this was longer! And more of the lore are examined, and that there were more trials and tribulations with the pairings! Though I know that purebloods in this story has come to terms and also just go along with what the ancient magic decided since they were mentally prepared for it at a young age. But Hermione just accepted that it washer duty and went along with it! Which was a bit out of character. I thought she would put up more of a fight.

The concept of the sacred 28 and how blood superiority gave rise was rather well justified from this ancient magic idea. Also why they obey the decisions made by the magic. There were some discrepancies, like if you were paired and had to consummate the relationship, the idea was the couple would gave in to their carnal nature when they were in the cave and had a strong desire to consummate. But some of the unexpected pairings like Pansy’s, the couple seemed to be standoffish and wanted nothing to do with one another.

Another discrepancy was when Molly saw that Ginny was summoned. How would she know that it was Ginny and not Ron? The younger siblings had a choice to not cast their lot in while the eldest had to serve the family and duty.

The three pureblood houses the author chose to have Hermione being a descendant from was rather interesting. It also wrapped up rather nicely in the epilogue when she and Draco had children. I wanted to have more insight on the quotidien and domestic life of Draco and Hermione before that jump where they were both in their forties or fifties.

Overall, rather good and refreshing concept, I wished it was longer and all the dynamics if essential relationships or characters are explored

Dramione. Forced Marriage. So good. My only complaint is that I wish there were more chapters or that the epilog was 100 pages long. Lol. Pureblood Hermione. Wizarding culture.

This was an interesting premise. I quite liked it. It was a different take on how magic is maintained throughout the earth and definitely perpetuates the whole "pureblood agenda" (no matter how ridiculous). It was an interesting, quick read.

Hermione finds out that her parents lied; she's actually a pureblood (you find this out in the second chapter).
Draco, as a pureblood, knows he must go through a ritual to keep magic from becoming extinct. He knows he must marry whoever the magic chooses for him (you find this out in the first chapter).

This story explores the consequences that follow Hermione after finding out she's a pureblood. And how does that tie her to Draco?

SPOILERS (but, like, spoilers you should've seen coming anyway)

Draco and Hermione end up being matched by the magic. And Hermione makes it her mission to find out how to add half-blood families back into the list of families because the number is dwindling enough that the magic could become extinct.
I know the author said they didn't want to draw the story out for no reason but I really wish that Hermione's fight had been explored more. Basically she finds out that she CAN add halfblood lines back in by asking for a new "contract" with the magic and then it immediately jumps to 19 years later without even starting to talk about how she went about it. I just wished we had gotten a little bit more of that.

[in progress- 4/27/25] as of now, I’m really not liking the “locker room talk” and general misogyny and heteronormativity. I don’t like that Draco’s initial interest in Astoria is because he views her as inexperienced and innocent- barf.

[in progress- 4/28/24] I am nearing the end and it hasn’t gotten better. In fact, it’s gotten worse. Draco is satisfied being a bigot, and we’re supposed to act impressed that his big compromise is that he’s “willing to listen” to Hermione’s side of things. The whole thing is romanticizing the unequal distribution of mental and moral labor that always falls to women. Actual quote from the book - “Don't take jewels out of your crown for him. Your job as his wife is to give him bigger hands to carry it.” Are you fucking kidding me? It is not HER job to make HIM better- it’s HIS job to make HIMSELF better. Also, I’m shocked that Hermione just ignores when he says he will “allow” or “permit” things- as if he’s in charge! She would NOT stand for that nonsense!

Overall, I’m coming away with the impression that this just isn’t for me. I know some people are into the “no really I can fix him” trope and praising the bare minimum (e.g., listening)- not me. I’m far more interested in: “she’s doing her thing, and if he wants to be a part of it, he must take the initiative to whip himself into shape.”

No more unequal labor for women, even in books! It just incenses me!

[Final thoughts- 5/1/24] yeah, not for me. Well written, but not for me. The ending felt rushed, but more importantly, I didn’t like Draco or Hermione in this.

Another fabulous read from HeartOfAspen :)

The "Sacred 28" is not explained in the canon books, this author came up with a unique idea to help provide the explanation in a way that was interesting and completely avoided the creepy elements. It was nice to see Narcissa as the loving mother rather than the stuck- up harpy that she is made out to be in many fics.

Hermione's lineage took quite a turn in this story, Molly Weasley saved us yet again though (if Molly has room for another face around her table, I will gladly take that chair). Once Hermione makes the blood offering and picks up her rune stone, the stage is set for drama.

About time we meet a nice member of the Lestrange family (and they are perfectly sane, thank you).

I would have loved a few more chapters in this story, particularly on Draco and Hermione learning about one another over a longer time span (it felt a bit rushed in parts). The addition of more families into the sacred circle would have been appreciated too as the epilogue had a lot to deal with in a short space.

I was grinning like a fool when Theo got his girl- he really is a sweetheart and deserves his happy family after growing up in darkness.

I wonder what my rune stone would be...

Please keepp writing, HeartOfAspen- you have a gift :)

Note 2,7. Sterne 3,5. Also auch ohne Fest, ein No-Go.

Magic rite, blood magic, forced bonding, Pureblood Hermione

Hermione and Draco are paired during a scared blood ritual when they cast in their family stone. Sex scenes well written but there was very few. Draco and Hermione butted heads a lot but were mature in coming together to be a family unit.

I found the story very interesting but was disappointed in the abrupt jump in the timeline at the end. It would have been nice to see them experience getting pregnant and having their first child. What was it like when Lucius came home? Also would have loved to see the process of getting more families into the casting ceremony PLUS seeing what would have happened during Theo, Ron, Ginny and Harry's casting. (These were all mentioned quickly in the epilogue).

I put off reading this for so long despite the fact that it has some of my favorite tropes (Hermione discovers she's actually a pureblood, marriage law/pact, etc.) because of the mixed reviews, but I'm glad I finally just decided to go for it. I thought the premise of this fic was so original and interesting, and I think it also made me enjoy it more despite the fact that the storytelling felt a bit rushed at times. A lot of ground is covered in a relatively low word count, and it does feel like more time could be spent to build up the plot around "the conflict" but at the end of the day I was ok with the length overall!

I was really excited for the premise behind how Hermione and Draco get together, with the Pureblood ritual that she gets to be part of, and I was intrigued by how her family tree was set up to get her to that place. But ultimately, reading the entire fic fell flat for me. It was hard to push through the plot of it and wasn't exactly memorable. Very well written, however.

1 star- DNF'd
2 star- read through but didn't enjoy a minute of it or didn't like it enough
3 star- enjoyed reading
4 star- fell out of my seat, definitely re-read
5 star- a spectacular work that wrecked my very being and for that fact, may never want to touch again

After reading another fic (won't name it, it's another pairing and incomplete) centered around idea of some kind of pact between magic and old families I was thrilled to find this one. However it was certainly disappointment for me. I wasn't convinced by how almost any of characters were depicted, I had may questions about the blood pact that were left unanswered, and even romance wasn't good enough.

I remember reading this in 2023, but not cataloguing it.

Anyways, this was a bit different then the normal Pureblood Hermione fics, but I quite enjoyed this. The fact that their kids all had a different inheritance, was such a Malfoy thing. They all get their own vaults that are already brimming with wealth. But they are gonna change the history of the wizarding world in that universe. They all will do something to leave a mark and not be forgotten.

it’s good, but not amazing. The speed in which they fell in love and lack of problems between each other felt slightly unrealistic, given their history. a great read for a day when you want a short&sweet book.

This book was good, but it didn't really stick out to me. I felt like the ending was quite rushed since we didn't even get a scene with Lucius.

Other than that it was a good book:)

Not my favorite, I didn't like how Hermione was pureblood, Draco was still prejudiced and it was like the war never happened. Also their relationship felt forced.
